  • MIL-OSI: Noma Security Receives Strategic Investment from Silicon Valley CISOs Investments (SVCI) to Drive Enterprise AI Security

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

TEL AVIV, Israel, June 12, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Noma Security, the enterprise AI security and governance platform, today announced a strategic investment from Silicon Valley CISOs Investments (SVCI), a syndicate of leading Chief Information Security Officers from companies including Adobe, Chime, Ross Stores, ICE/NYSE, and Booking.com, just to name a few. Noma Security becomes the 18th cybersecurity company to be added to the SVCI portfolio, and the investment comes six months after Noma Security launched from stealth with a $32M series A funding round.

The SVCI investment, as directed by leading CISOs, validates the unique Noma Security approach to provide end-to-end AI security including AI discovery and governance, proactive security risk management, and runtime protection.

“As enterprise organizations increasingly rely on AI for efficiency and competitive advantage, AI security becomes not just an imperative, but a business necessity,” said Al Ghous, Notable Capital CISO and SVCI co-founder. “Noma Security stood out with its world-class team and deep understanding of the AI threat landscape. They applied this knowledge to build a mature, end-to-end AI security platform that addresses the full spectrum of AI security challenges, from supply chain vulnerabilities and infrastructure misconfigurations, to prompt attacks, data leaks, and privacy violations.”

Noma Security addresses substantial enterprise demand for secure AI to accompany rapid enterprise AI development and adoption. As AI decentralizes and evolves to autonomous, agentic architectures, organizations face a growing set of AI threats. Blind spots, a dynamic risk surface, and compliance and governance pressures, all combine to create challenges for the CISO’s organization. AI risks are difficult to detect and nearly impossible to secure using traditional cybersecurity tools.

Noma Security provides the following capabilities to address critical challenges across all enterprise AI resources and transactions, including AI agents:

    • Comprehensive AI Discovery and Governance: Eliminate blind spots through continuous discovery and inventory of all AI resources including code, pipelines, models, runtime applications and 3rd party agents. AI BOM and shadow asset detection helps security teams visualize what they’re securing.
    • Proactive AI Security Risk Management: Improve your AI security posture by continuously scanning for infrastructure misconfigurations, supply chain vulnerabilities, model risks, and compliance gaps, including those in third-party agent platforms. Conduct automated red teaming to continuously test for hidden risks and provide guided remediation so teams can proactively reduce risk before AI reaches production.
    • AI Runtime Protection: Real-time monitoring and control for autonomous AI systems to detect and block prompt attacks, harmful content, sensitive data leaks, privacy violations and rogue AI agent actions as they occur.
    • AI Compliance Simplified: Align enterprise AI security with leading security and compliance frameworks including the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs, MITRE ATLAS and emerging AI regulations such as the EU AI Act.

“The Noma Security approach is unique in its ability to provide a holistic view of AI security and governance, enabling security teams to gain control over the entire AI lifecycle,” said Niv Braun, CEO and co-founder of Noma Security. “We are thrilled to have the support and direction of the SVCI CISO team. They immediately saw the value and differentiation of Noma Security to solve the challenge of AI security at scale. Providing real-word product guidance and feedback, SVCI is helping Noma Security maintain competitive differentiation by delivering end-to-end AI security solutions and deliver responsible AI across the enterprise to meet substantial demand.”

  • MIL-OSI United Kingdom: Council Leaders rule out single unitary authority proposal for Hertfordshire

Source: St Albans City and District

    Publication date:

The Leaders of Hertfordshire’s 11 councils have agreed to rule out the option of a single unitary authority for the county as part of ongoing discussions on local government reform proposals.

In response to the Government’s invitation to councils in all two-tier areas to submit an interim plan for moving to a single tier of unitary councils providing all services, Hertfordshire’s interim submission outlined a number of options for further consideration ranging from one to four unitary councils.

Following the election of a new County Council administration in May, there will be no further work to develop the business case for one unitary council covering the whole of Hertfordshire. This reflects a shared view that a single unitary council covering Hertfordshire’s 1.2m residents would be too remote from the county’s diverse communities.

Leaders’ shared priorities remain ensuring any changes benefit residents and businesses, that excellent local government services are maintained, residents are kept safe, and strong democratic accountability is available to communities across the county. They will continue to explore the evidence and refine the options to be considered ahead of submitting final proposals to the Government by 28 November for Ministers to consider.

A team of officers drawn from the County Council and all 10 District & Borough Councils has been established to develop the options and make recommendations for Leaders to consider. Key considerations will include ensuring value for money in any new structures; understanding the impact of any changes to key services like social care and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND); how proposals support future devolution; and making sure communities continue to have a strong say in local decisions. The Government will provide £378,077 funding to support this project.

Councils will also continue to prioritise the delivery of high quality and sustainable public services to people and communities during this period of transformation.

The views of residents, businesses, local government partners, colleagues, and other stakeholders across the public and private sectors will be essential as proposals develop and significant engagement will take place over the coming months.

Councillor Helen Campbell, Deputy Leader of St Albans City and District Council, said:

The eleven local authorities in Hertfordshire are of one mind, namely that one unitary body for the whole of the county is not in the best interests of residents. This unanimous view follows the Hertfordshire County Council elections last month which saw a change in its political leadership.

Now the single unitary option has sensibly been scrapped, we will all work together to carefully assess the pros and cons of the other three options we have collectively decided to put on the table. Firmly at the forefront will be what is best for residents across the county. In addition, we will focus on continuing to deliver the quality services our residents need and the facilities they value.

    Notes to editors

Leaders have also agreed that £378,077 Government funding provided to Hertfordshire to support the development of local government reorganisation proposals will be held by Watford Borough Council with the Hertfordshire Leaders Group collectively agreeing how it should be spent.

A bold regeneration project in Plymouth has been crowned Best Project at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) South West Awards for Planning Excellence — and has also taken home the coveted Overall Best in Region title.

Delivered in partnership between Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) and the Council, the transformational regeneration of North Prospect, the largest scheme of its kind in the South West, began in 2012 and has completely reshaped the area.

Over the course of the project, nearly 800 homes in poor condition were demolished and replaced with more than 1,100 high-quality, energy-efficient homes.

The new neighbourhood offers a better variety of house types, sizes, and tenures, creating a more inclusive and sustainable community.

Councillor Chris Penberthy, Cabinet Member for Housing, Cooperative Development and Communities at Plymouth City Council, said: “This award is a testament to the vision, dedication, and hard work of everyone involved in the North Prospect regeneration.

“It’s not just about bricks and mortar — it’s about creating a thriving, inclusive community where people are proud to live.
“We’re thrilled to see this project recognised at a regional level and excited to see it go forward to the national stage.”

In total, the project has delivered 491 new homes for affordable and social rent, and 195 homes for shared ownership, creating a total of 686 affordable homes—exceeding the 605 socially rented homes previously in the area.

In addition, PCH refurbished a further 300 social rented homes, ensuring that existing residents also benefited from the improvements.

The project’s success is a testament to the power of collaboration and long-term vision in urban planning. It now advances to the national RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence, with finalists to be announced in October.

  • MIL-OSI United Kingdom: ARU students win Kodak prize for bold commercial

ARU students Lisa-Marie Soulier, left, and Claudia Vogt at the awards ceremony

Two Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) students have won a national award run by Kodak for a “bold” and “funny” commercial, beating off entries from 17 other universities and film schools from across the UK and Ireland.

Director Claudia Vogt and producer Lisa-Marie Soulier, both 22-year-old third year BA (Hons) Film and Television Production students at ARU, collected the award for best overall film at a ceremony held at the historic Regent Street Cinema in London.

The Kodak Student Commercial Awards is an annual competition run by Kodak and Nahemi, the national association for higher education in the moving image. The competition, which has been running for nearly 40 years, received a total of 61 entries this year.

Students were provided with a 10 minute roll of Kodak 16mm film to make a 30 second commercial based on one of four live briefs set by advertising agencies McCann, Libertine and TBWA. Representatives from the national agencies were on the judging panel.

The ARU students’ live brief was for the sexual health and wellbeing charity Brook, and their winning film, Eros – The Myth Buster, is a light-hearted commercial to promote the use of condoms.

The judges described the commercial as “a film that really stood out with its original storytelling and bold, funny approach. The sharp writing had us laughing throughout, and it felt more like an entertaining story than an ad, in the best possible way.”

In addition to Claudia and Lisa-Marie, the cinematographer for Eros – The Myth Buster was Jack Bryant and it was edited by Karina Bhojwani, who are also both third year BA (Hons) Film and Television Production students at ARU.

“We didn’t expect to win first prize at all, so this is such a surprise. It’s also incredibly rewarding because it was quite a complicated shoot, using cameras we don’t use on a day-to-day basis, so this recognition from Kodak and the judges is fantastic.”

Student Claudia Vogt, who directed the film

“The brilliant thing about the Film and TV Production course at ARU is that it’s so hands-on and practical.

“We have access to the very best equipment, such as ARRI Alexa Mini LF cameras, which are the same cameras used in Hollywood, and our tutors have been amazing. They’ve provided opportunities for us during the course to work with high-profile organisations such as the Imperial War Museum and Shakespeare’s Globe theatre, which is great for our portfolios.”

Producer Lisa-Marie Soulier, who came to study at ARU from Montreal in Canada

The pair also combined for their graduation film Saturday Night Butch, which is on show at the ARU Creative Showcase, and plan to continue working together after graduation.

Claudia added: “We’ve made documentary, fiction and now adverts together, and we plan to expand on all of these and continue to focus on opportunities and projects that feel relevant to us.”

  • Government e-Marketplace surges past ₹4 lakh crore GMV in just 10 months of FY 2024-25

    Source: Government of India

    Source: Government of India (4)

Under the transformative leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who completes 11 years in office, the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing a Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of ₹4.09 lakh crore within the first 10 months of Fiscal Year 2024-25. This feat, announced by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, reflects a nearly 50% growth compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year, cementing GeM’s role as a cornerstone of India’s digital procurement revolution.

Launched in August 2016, GeM has emerged as a trusted platform for transparent and efficient public procurement, serving over 1.6 lakh government entities and 22.5 lakh sellers and service providers. The platform’s GMV for FY 2024-25, achieved by January 23, 2025, outpaces last year’s historic high of ₹4 lakh crore, driven significantly by the services segment, which accounted for ₹2.54 lakh crore (62% of total GMV). The product segment contributed ₹1.55 lakh crore (38%). The services segment’s near-100% growth, fueled by the addition of 19 new service categories, has enabled government entities to procure specialized services like debit card printing, bulk email services, dark fiber leasing, and data center operations management with enhanced efficiency.

Central government entities, particularly the ministries of Coal, Defence, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Power, and Steel, have been pivotal in this surge. The Ministry of Coal led as the top procurer, with a transacted order value of nearly ₹1.63 lakh crore, including over 320 high-value bids worth approximately ₹42,000 crore for handling and transport services by Coal PSUs. GeM’s versatility is evident in its facilitation of both everyday essentials, such as rations and stationery, and high-end, complex items like advanced technology systems and missile components.

The platform’s operational excellence was further highlighted by processing 49,960 orders in a single day during FY 2024-25, showcasing its robustness and widespread adoption. Since its inception, GeM has facilitated over 2.59 crore orders, amassing a cumulative GMV of more than ₹11.64 lakh crore. Continuous reforms, including simplified processes and reduced transaction charges, have made GeM more accessible, particularly for Micro and Small Enterprises, startups, and women-led businesses.

  • MIL-OSI USA: Congressman Raul Ruiz Defends the Antiquities Act and California’s Public Lands from Political Attack

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Raul Ruiz (36th District of California)

Washington, D.C. – The Antiquities Act of 1906, signed into law by President Theodore Roosevelt, was designed to protect areas of cultural, historical, and scientific significance. Its purpose is to preserve these vital resources for the public and for future generations.

The Trump Administration’s efforts to undermine this law will set a dangerous precedent. Rolling back protections not only disregards the intent of the Antiquities Act, it puts at risk the very lands and resources this law was meant to safeguard.

This action would harm veterans, tribal communities, working families, and endangered species. It strips away protections that uphold our responsibility to leave the earth better than we found it, for the benefit of generations to come.

This is yet another attack in a long line of actions targeting California. I will not stand by while our public lands, communities, and future are under threat. I will keep fighting to protect what belongs to all of us.

The International Conference on Roads and Railways 2025 co-organised by the Highways Department and the Hong Kong Institution of Highways and Transportation opened today (June 12). Themed on “Building Smart and Green Transport Infrastructure”, the conference takes place on two consecutive days at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with over 30 Mainland, overseas and local experts in road and railway development and industry leaders leading nearly 700 participants to jointly explore the latest worldwide practices and technological advancements of smart and green transport infrastructure, as well as the development direction of future major transport infrastructure in Hong Kong through thematic speeches and panel discussions. • MIL-OSI Asia-Pac: NSL 5th anniversary expo opens

    Source: Hong Kong Information Services

Secretary for Justice Paul Lam today officiated at the opening ceremony of the “5th Anniversary of Promulgation & Implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law Thematic Exhibition” at the Museum of History.

Mr Lam reiterated the three “must-nots” – must not forget history, turn a blind eye to reality and stand idly by.

He said traditional Chinese wisdom has it that “history, if not forgotten, can serve as a guide for the future”.

“We all surely remember the 2019 legislative amendment turmoil, which posed a grave threat to national security and severely undermined the peaceful and stable environment we took for granted.”

Mr Lam also stated that “remain vigilant in times of peace” is another traditional Chinese wisdom.

“Although Hong Kong society has restored stability and national security, threats are often not immediately visible. It is obvious that hostile states and forces continue to try to suppress our country’s development.

“Since national security is closely related to individuals’ well-being, people must naturally take concrete steps and shoulder responsibilities in safeguarding national security.”

Mr Lam pointed out that a robust legal system has long been the cornerstone of Hong Kong’s success. It is the prerequisite for the city to thrive as an international financial, trade, and shipping centre.

On the foundation of three “must-nots”, Hong Kong must uphold the rule of law in safeguarding national security, he added.

Also officiating at the ceremony, Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung said safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests is not only a constitutional duty of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, but also a fundamental obligation of every citizen.

Mr Tang further stated that hostile forces have not given up and he reminded citizens to remain vigilant against the risks.

The security chief explained that external hostile forces continue to attempt to undermine national security through smears and “sanctions” while anti-China destabilising elements in the city who have fled overseas continue to engage in activities and behaviours that threaten national security.

Local terrorism and “soft resistance”, where individuals with ulterior motives exploit fake news and misinformation to divide society and incite hatred are the other risks, Mr Tang added.

The exhibition is now open, with the aim to facilitate the public’s understanding of and appreciation for the hard-won situation that Hong Kong is now enjoying, and to motivate all to work together to help the city shine on the global stage.

  • MIL-OSI: Coinchange and Kanga Exchange Announce Partnership to Drive 30% User Adoption For Passive Income

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

Toronto, Canada, June 12, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — In a significant step toward mainstreaming crypto-based passive income, Coinchange and Kanga Exchange have joined forces to offer automated yield solutions—resulting in over 30% user adoption in just months. The partnership between Coinchange, a digital asset management platform, and Kanga Exchange, a leading cryptocurrency exchange platform, demonstrates how the integration of yield-generating solutions can simplify access to passive income opportunities. The collaboration has enabled over 30% of Kanga’s active users to generate passive income through multi-strategy active portfolio management solutions on their digital asset holdings without requiring active supervision or technical expertise.

Kanga and Coinchange Address Passive Income Needs

Kanga Exchange operates over 800 physical exchange points across 12 countries, specifically serving users who prefer cash-based transactions or localized financial services. This model merges traditional finance with digital assets to serve both individual and institutional clients through its platform and wallet application. However, users increasingly wanted to grow their crypto holdings passively, which created a demand for tools that automate yield generation with minimal complexity.

Coinchange addressed this need by integrating its Earn API into Kanga’s platform. The API connects user deposits to a range of protocols, automating how users earn returns and eliminating the need for manual intervention. This strategy is appealing to busy individuals as well as businesses that want to grow their unused funds without needing to navigate smart contracts or liquidity pools.

    Partnership Highlights: Key results

    • Increased earnings: Users achieved 3-5% higher yields on average compared to traditional savings and staking offerings;
    • Expanding reach: Kanga Exchange’s hundreds of thousands active users could see 30% adoption of its Earn product, underscoring surging demand for passive crypto income tools;
    • Instant access: Coinchange’s Earn product removed the typical 15–30 day waiting period  for Kanga Exchange, giving users easy and flexible access to their funds.

Simplifying DeFi: How the Earn API Works for Users

The Earn API simplifies the process: users deposit digital assets as well as stablecoins into their Kanga wallets, and the API automatically allocates funds across vetted protocols. This approach removes technical barriers, allowing users to benefit from decentralized finance without requiring knowledge of wallet addresses, gas fees, or market monitoring.

Key advantages of the integration include:

    • Reduced transaction costs: The API aggregates funds & optimizes a multi-strategy approach to reduce transaction costs;
    • Automated yield generation: Algorithms handle asset allocation for consistent and diversified returns;
    • Liquidity preservation: Integration enables withdrawals without lock-up periods – removing the need to wait.

    Measurable Success and Market Impact

The partnership has supported financial inclusion by making access to advanced portfolio composition tools streamlined. Users who previously avoided decentralized finance due to its complexity now earn passive income through a familiar exchange interface.

The integration has demonstrated measurable success in enhancing user engagement, with 30% of users utilizing the yield feature. By making the process easier, Kanga has strengthened its value proposition as more than a trading platform, while Coinchange has expanded its reach to a diverse, globally distributed user base.

    Addressing Challenges: Trust and Compliance

Initially, adoption faced challenges as users didn’t fully understand how risks were managed. Coinchange and Kanga addressed this by highlighting the Earn API’s security protocols and audit processes. Regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions necessitated the use of reporting tools, ensuring compliance with local financial regulations.

    Key Takeaways and Future Outlook

The Coinchange-Kanga partnership case study exemplifies how strategic collaborations can unlock potential for mainstream audiences. The Earn API integration simplified complex technology, making it easy for Kanga’s global users to earn passive income. This model highlights the importance of infrastructure solutions in driving cryptocurrency adoption, particularly for users prioritizing simplicity and liquidity. To further enhance its comprehensive offering, Kanga Exchange also provides a crypto loan service. Looking ahead, Kanga is actively working on introducing advanced features, including futures contracts and trading competitions, to further expand its ecosystem. As the digital asset ecosystem evolves, similar integrations will likely play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between traditional finance and decentralized innovation.

    Source: Samsung

They’re everywhere you look, trotting on the sidewalk, bounding on the trail, pacing on the treadmill.
    Runners.
On any given day, millions of people around the world are hitting the pavement, logging miles, and pushing for personal bests. With a low barrier to entry and near universal access, it’s easy enough to get started, but for most people, making gains is not so straightforward.
Samsung Health, together with powerful Galaxy Wearables like Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring offer runners of all levels an incredible set of tools to monitor progress and improve — including automatically tracking runs, keeping tabs on heart rate zones1, and evaluating their daily Energy Score2.

Even so, one of the most overlooked aspects of improving performance has nothing to do with racking up steps: getting quality rest. Your downtime provides an important window into your overall health and directly impacts running performance. That’s why Samsung Health also features extensive sleep analysis1 to help runners understand their sleep patterns3 and build better habits. All data and insights captured on compatible Galaxy Wearables are integrated into the Samsung Health app which generates detailed reports across a range of health metrics.
Throughout the summer, Samsung will be bringing its expertise to runners across New York City through partnerships with some of the city’s largest run clubs, collaborations with fitness creators, and race activations. The collaborations will emphasize the importance of rest and recovery, and how Samsung Health and Galaxy Wearables can play a vital role in the training and recovery process.

Samsung is working with two of New York City’s largest run clubs — Almost Friday Run Club and Midnight Runners New York — empowering select participants with Galaxy technology to help them reach their goals and better understand the importance of rest as part of their training.
Samsung will also be activating at select New York City races in partnership with NYCRuns, providing interactive rest stations for racers. The experience will include a hydration station and stretching area, as well as opportunities to learn about how runners can use Samsung Health’s Energy Score and sleep data insights to improve their running performance.
The first sponsored run takes place July 13, 2025 at the NYCRuns Queens Ice Cream Social 5K. The event is open to the public, and those interested can register here.

  • MIL-OSI Security: West Columbia Man Indicted for Distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material

Source: Office of United States Attorneys

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A federal grand jury in Greenville returned a 10-count indictment against Robert John May III, 38, of West Columbia, for distributing child sexual abuse material.*

According to court documents and statements made in court, in April 2024, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber-tip from the social messaging app Kik. Kik flagged several videos from the username “joebidennnn69” as containing child sexual abuse. Investigators connected the account to the home IP address and mobile device of May and identified at least 10 videos depicting child sexual abuse that were shared from the account.

May faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison with a minimum of five years, a fine of $250,000, and a term of at least five years of supervised release to follow any term of imprisonment.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals, who sexually exploit children, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit http://www.justice.gov/psc.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations.  Assistant U.S. Attorneys Scott Matthews and Dean Secor are prosecuting the case with Austin M. Berry of the Department of Justice’s Child Exploitation & Obscenity Section.

All charges in the indictment are merely accusations and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

    ###

    * The term “child pornography” is currently used in federal statutes and is defined as any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a person less than 18 years old. While this phrase still appears in federal law, “child sexual abuse material” is preferred, as it better reflects the abuse that is depicted in the images and videos and the resulting trauma to the child. The Associated Press Stylebook also discourages the use of the phrase “child pornography.”

SIOUX FALLS – United States Attorney Alison J. The verdict was returned on June 11, 2025.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, up to three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Garrett was indicted by a federal grand jury in November 2024.

On August 21, 2024, law enforcement searched a residence in Sioux Falls where Garrett was residing. In his bedroom, a black Sig Sauer magazine with 9mm ammunition and .22 caliber ammunition were found. Garrett is a felon and thus prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.

This case was investigated by the Sioux Falls Police Department Violent Crimes Unit and Homeland Security Investigations. Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Connie Larson prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.

A presentence investigation was ordered and a sentencing date will be set. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

  • MIL-OSI: Ethical Web AI Hits Major Milestones in 2025 Growth Strategy

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

NEW YORK, June 12, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bubblr Inc., operating as Ethical Web AI (OTC: BBLR), a leader in secure, enterprise-grade generative AI, today announced a major achievement in executing its 2025 strategic roadmap. The company has successfully onboarded its first AI Vault SaaS client via the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace.

AI Vault Lands First Client via AWS Marketplace
Following its recent debut on the AWS Marketplace, Ethical Web AI’s flagship product, AI Vault, has secured its first enterprise customer. AI Vault is built to tackle the critical challenges enterprises face in adopting generative AI—specifically transparency, security, and regulatory compliance. Backed by multiple USPTO patents, the platform empowers organizations with complete control over AI usage and data protection.

Steve Morris, CEO and Founder of Ethical Web AI, remarked: “This first enterprise customer win through AWS Marketplace validates the pressing need for trustworthy, enterprise-ready generative AI. It’s also an important step in fulfilling our obligations as an AWS Software Partner. Our goal is to secure five enterprise customers via AWS Marketplace by month-end, and this early traction gives us strong confidence in that path. We are beginning slowly but our target is 10% of the enterprise generative AI market within three years.”

    IP-Led Product Strategy Driving Innovation
Ethical Web AI’s product philosophy is built on a core principle: no software is developed unless its core capabilities can be patented. Each product solves a fundamental flaw in existing technologies and is defensible by design.

“We build only what we can legally protect,” Morris emphasized. “Our IP strategy isn’t just a layer of protection—it’s the engine behind our long-term roadmap. We invite all stakeholders to explore our patents, which define and secure our competitive edge.”

    Patents and Intellectual Property Protection
A growing portfolio of defensible intellectual property underpins Ethical Web AI’s product strategy. All product development is based on securing USPTO patents that protect the unique functionality of each offering.

    Patent Portfolio Highlights:

    • US Patent 10,977,387 – Internet-Based Search Mechanism
This foundational patent supports the Ethical Web AI Open-Source Platform and includes 16 enforceable claims, notably anonymous search and asynchronous search results. The patent was independently valued at $4.7 billion in August 2022 by Valuation Consulting (Dr. Fernando Da Cruz Vallencellos), based on a scenario where a global technology company acquired the patent and associated software. This valuation is expected to reduce slightly over time, as the patent term expires in March 2045, reflecting the 25-year legal protection horizon.
    • US Patent Application 17/980298 – Contextual Enveloping via Dynamically Generated Hypertext Links
Enhances conversational search through dynamically embedded links and multimedia in HTML output. Expected to be granted in Q2 2025.
    • US Patent Application 18/376,101 – Computer-Implemented Method and System
Enables the inclusion of real-time, contemporaneous data in generative AI prompts using external API calls. Improves answer completeness without heavy computing demands.
    • US Patent Application 19/055,968 – Sensitive Data Processing in Generative AI
Powers AI Vault’s ability to detect and redact sensitive, implicit, or contextual terms prior to submitting prompts to generative AI models—ensuring enterprise data protection

These patents form a strong legal moat for Ethical Web AI’s core technologies. Each product is tied directly to specific enforceable claims, offering comprehensive protection against replication by third parties—even if only a portion of the functionality is copied.

AI Vault: Built for the 27% Who Say ‘No’ to Generative AI
AI Vault is tailored for the 27% of companies that currently ban generative AI due to concerns over privacy, security, and regulatory exposure. These include large financial institutions and global enterprises where safeguarding sensitive information is non-negotiable.

    • AI Vault provides:
    • A secure, private generative AI environment
    • Full enterprise control and transparency
    • Protection of sensitive data through patented redaction processes
    • Zero access to client data by Ethical Web AI or third-party providers

Watch the explainer video to see how AI Vault works: https://ethicalweb.ai/ai-vault-explainer-video/.

Looking Ahead: Focus on Profitability and Strategic Options
As part of its 2025 strategy, Ethical Web AI’s primary objectives are to be cash generative within twelve months and we have ambitions for an uplist to a superior exchange such as NASDAQ. The company also continues to explore potential acquisition interest, bolstered by its robust IP position and expanding commercial traction.

“We’re executing against a clear vision—secure enterprise AI powered by defensible innovation,” said Morris. “Whether through IPO, acquisition, or organic growth, our priority is to scale responsibly while delivering unmatched value to our customers and shareholders.”

    About Ethical Web AI
Ethical Web AI (OTC: BBLR) develops patented generative AI solutions for enterprises that demand transparency, security, and compliance. Its flagship products include AI Vault and the Ethical Web AI Open-Source Platform, both built to exceed the highest data protection standards.

  • MIL-OSI: Drone Industry Applauds AUVSI Advancing U.S. Leadership in Drones Operations Putting Spotlight on Drone Stocks

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

PALM BEACH, Fla., June 12, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — FN Media Group News Commentary – Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) applauded executive orders advancing U.S. leadership in drones on what they called an historic day for advanced aviation. AUVSI represents leaders from more than 60 countries across industry, government, and academia in the defense, civil and commercial sectors. AUVSI has long advocated for many of these reforms through active engagement with the White House, public comments, Congressional testimony, and federal agency engagement. An outpouring of support from AUVSI member companies highlights the strong industry consensus on the Executive Orders and their significance for the future of autonomous aviation. Active Companies in the markets today include ZenaTech, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZENA), Unusual Machines, Inc. (NYSE American: UMAC), AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV), Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: KTOS), RTX Corporation (NYSE: RTX).

Example of the key provisions of the AUVSI executive orders include: BVLOS Expansion and Drone Integration Acceleration: Directs the FAA to enable routine Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations for commercial and public safety missions, and to accelerate development, testing, and scaling of U.S. drone technologies, including advanced air mobility and autonomous systems. — Updated UAS Integration Roadmap: Calls for the FAA to publish a revised roadmap for the integration of civil UAS into the National Airspace System, reflecting updated capabilities and timelines. — Domestic Drone Industrial Base Strengthening: Prioritizes U.S.-manufactured UAS in federal procurement, promotes their export, and takes steps to protect critical drone technologies from foreign exploitation. — Supporting the Warfighter and Airspace Access: Improves access to high-performance, U.S.-made drones for military use and streamlines airspace and spectrum access to better support national security missions. — Detection and Tracking Authorities & Grants: Authorizes federal agencies to use existing legal authorities to detect, track, and identify drones and drone signals; and allows state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) agencies to access grant programs for related detection technologies.

ZenaTech (NASDAQ:ZENA) ZenaDrone to File Patent and Accelerate Deployment of Counter-UAS Technology on the ZenaDrone 1000 in Response to US Executive Order – ZenaTech, Inc. (FSE: 49Q) (BMV: ZENA) (“ZenaTech”), a technology company specializing in AI (Artificial Intelligence) drone, Drone as a Service (DaaS), enterprise SaaS, and Quantum Computing solutions, today announces its subsidiary ZenaDrone’s intent to file a patent and accelerate the deployment of Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (Counter-UAS) technology, to be mounted on the company’s flagship ZenaDrone 1000 drone platform in response to a new executive order policy directive. Counter-UAS technology refers to tools or systems that can detect, track, or mitigate unauthorized or dangerous drones to protect people, property, and airspace.

ZenaDrone’s technology for this was originally designed last year but was placed on hold as the company prioritized other commercial and defense applications. However, the recent policy directive on Counter-UAS contained in the June 6th, 2025, White House Executive Order, ‘Restoring American Airspace Sovereignty’, has clarified the urgency and importance of bringing effective drone defense solutions to market. In response, ZenaDrone is accelerating development and commercialization efforts to meet growing domestic and international demand.

“We developed our Counter-UAS system with future threats in mind, and the Executive Order has made it clear that the time to act is now,” said Dr. Shaun Passley, CEO of ZenaTech. “Integrating this technology into the ZenaDrone 1000 positions us to meet urgent security needs with a smart, autonomous aerial defense platform and be seen as a provider of safe, trusted, and mission-ready solutions.”

The company will immediately expand its engineering and defense teams to fast-track R&D, testing, and deployment. The enhanced ZenaDrone 1000 will feature real-time threat detection and neutralization capabilities, making it a viable solution for military, homeland security, and critical infrastructure protection operations.

The recent executive order, one of two historic policy directives announced on June 6th, 2025, provides a boost to US drone companies by driving demand for counter-UAS technologies, setting needed federal standards for secure airspace integration, and prioritizing US-made systems over foreign alternatives.

The ZenaDrone 1000 is an AI multifunction autonomous drone that is a 12X7-foot rotary-wing octocopter design—built for commercial applications including surveillance, inspection and precision agriculture, as well as for defense. It features a patented foldable-wing design, can carry up to a 40 kg or 88 lbs of payload, and can fly for up to an hour before recharging on its docking station. It can be equipped with a variety of thermal imaging, LiDAR, or multispectral sensors to enable real-time ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance), border patrol, and other defense applications.   Continued… Read this full release by visiting: https://www.financialnewsmedia.com/news-zena/

  • MIL-OSI: Dylan Media Controls 40% of Share Capital and Requests Significant Share Buyback Offer

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

    • Dylan Media acquires 40.3% shareholding in CLIQ
    • Proposed public share buyback offer in the total volume of €12,5 million and capital reduction to be discussed at Annual General Meeting on 21 August 2025
    • CLIQ continues to consider delisting following strategic investment by Dylan Media

    DÜSSELDORF, 12 June 2025

    New principal shareholder

Yesterday, CLIQ Digital AG (“CLIQ” or “Company”) was informed that Dylan Media B.V. (“Dylan Media”) now holds approximately 19.1% of the shares in the Company and has entered into purchase agreements for an additional 21.2%, resulting in a combined stake of 40.3% in the Company’s outstanding share capital.

Potential public partial share repurchase offer by CLIQ

Dylan Media has formally requested that CLIQ’s Management Board and Supervisory Board include an agenda item for the Annual General Meeting 2025 relating to a significant share buyback offer (public partial share repurchase offer by the Company). The proposed repurchase offer would involve CLIQ offering to buy back up to 2,060,000 shares at €6.06 per share, which would equate to 59% of the Company’s remaining free floating share capital. This offer price is 15% higher than the six-month volume-weighted average share price (VWAP) before yesterday’s announcement. Dylan Media reserves the right to amend its request pending the release of updated financial information ahead of the Annual General Meeting.

If resolved, this share buyback offer would trigger the acquisition of treasury shares, which would then be redeemed after the completion of CLIQ’s share buyback offer and reduce CLIQ’s share capital accordingly. Dylan Media has committed not to participate in this offer with the CLIQ shares it holds.

Once resolved by the Annual General Meeting, shareholders have the possibility to divest for €6,06 contingent on the number of shares offered by shareholders in the repurchase offer. The proposed repurchase price would equate an increase of 75% to the Xetra closing price of €3.46 prior to the ad hoc announcement of the Company on 6 March 2025.

    Delisting

Given the significant changes to the Company’s shareholder structure, the limited demand and liquidity of the shares, and the capital market no longer being the most viable option for the Company’s financing, while facing substantial ongoing listing obligations, expenses and opportunity costs, the Company continues to consider a delisting of the shares from all stock exchanges to be in general in the interest and as the right course of action for the Company and intends to decide on a delisting after completion of the share buyback offer. The Company will inform the shareholders and the capital market on the result of the share buyback offer and the further considerations with regard to a delisting in due course.

Should the delisting take place, the rights of CLIQ’s minority shareholders will generally remain unchanged, except that CLIQ will no longer be subject to capital market reporting requirements, and shareholders will lose the ability to sell their shares via the official stock exchanges.

No Public partial acquisition offer by Dylan Media

In light of this increased ownership, Dylan Media has confirmed that it will no longer pursue the previously considered public partial tender offer to CLIQ shareholders. The decision reflects a shift in strategy now that the threshold for significant influence has been reached through direct acquisitions.

    Annual General Meeting 2025

CLIQ invites its shareholders to the Annual General Meeting, which will take place on Thursday, 21 August 2025, as an in-person event in Düsseldorf. The formal invitation including the agenda and further details regarding participation will be published in due course.

    Management Board statement

We warmly welcome Dylan Media as our new principal shareholder. Their decisive commitment to CLIQ reflects a deep strategic conviction about the strength of our business model and long-term potential – something that the capital markets have not always adequately recognised, as evidenced by our low market valuation,” said CEO Luc Voncken. “Dylan Media’s confidence validates our vision and provides momentum as we prepare to enter the next phase of sustainable growth.

  • MIL-OSI Economics: World’s best governor Aleš Michl receives award for extraordinary effort, courage and independence

    Source: Czech National Bank

Czech National Bank Governor Aleš Michl received the prestigious international Central Banking Award 2025 for world’s best governor at a ceremony in London on Wednesday. He was recognised for his extraordinary determination to reduce inflation and safeguard the value of money in the Czech Republic, as well as for his forward-looking and innovative approach to the issues currently shaping the global financial landscape. This is already the second major international accolade the Governor has received this year – in January, The Banker magazine, published by the Financial Times, named him Central Banker of the Year for Europe.

Governor Aleš Michl received the award at the international Central Banking Summer Meetings, held in London on 11–12 June, with the participation of central bankers from around the world.  The conference is organised annually by the renowned Central Banking magazine.

“I don’t see this award as mine alone. It is recognition for the entire CNB team. From the very beginning, our main goal was to bring inflation back to 2% and restore people’s confidence in the koruna. That would not have been possible without the courage to make unpopular, yet correct, decisions. That’s what central banking is about – independence, discipline and responsibility to the people who save and work,” said CNB Governor Aleš Michl.

The jury particularly highlighted the extraordinary efforts of CNB Governor Aleš Michl in the fight against inflation. Thanks to the strategy adopted by the Bank Board under his leadership, the Czech Republic was among the first countries to bring exceptionally high inflation back to target. Inflation fell from 17.5% in July 2022 to exactly 2% in February, March and June 2024. The full-year average was 2.4% – the lowest since 2018. According to estimates, inflation is expected to remain at a similar level this year as well. Low, stable and predictable inflation is one of the prerequisites for long-term sustainable economic growth.

However, the jury evaluated more than just price stability. It also praised the efforts of the central bank under Aleš Michl’s leadership in managing the international reserves and implementing measures to improve the efficiency of the institution’s operations. The jury also commended the CNB’s active role in the successful resolution of the insolvency of Sberbank CZ, as well as its support for the instant payment system operated by the central bank. The growing availability of fast, secure and low-cost interbank transfers supports the digital development of the economy and makes everyday life and business easier. It also reinforces the CNB’s position as a leader in the modernisation of the country’s financial infrastructure.

  • MIL-OSI Economics: Job Index Reveals The Toughest Jobs In The UK

    Source: Samsung

New research finds firefighters have UK’s toughest job, with paramedics, farmers and builders also included among most gruelling roles in the country
90% of Brits say tech that can withstand tough jobs is vital in demanding roles, with extreme environments (63%) and hazardous conditions (64%) cited as key challenges
Our Yorkshire Farm Shepherdess, Amanda Owen partners with Samsung to demonstrate real-world resilience testing of the new Rugged device range, from mucking out to herding sheep
The new Samsung XCover7 Pro and Tab Active5 Pro Enterprise Edition deliver military-grade durability[1], water-resistance[2], long battery life[3], and push-to-talk functionality[4] – purpose built for frontline and field-based professionals

    James Speakman/PA Media Assignments

New research has revealed the UK’s toughest jobs – with firefighters topping the list.

The poll of 2,000 Brits found paramedics, farmers and armed forces personnel were also cited as those who deserve recognition for doing of the most physically and mentally draining work.

The study was commissioned by Samsung to launch their latest Rugged device range which is designed to thrive in harsh work environments and was judged according to criteria including physical demands, danger and risk, and work environment.

The findings, which also identified police officers (34%), fishermen (16%) and construction workers (15%) among the UK’s toughest workers, underscored a growing demand among workers and employers for tech that can withstand harsh, high-risk environments.

    TOP 20 TOUGHEST JOBS

    Firefighter (45%)
    Paramedic (44%)
    Surgeon (44%)
    Nurse (37%)
    Police Officer (34%)
    Armed Forces Personnel (28%)
    Care Worker (22%)
    Farmer (20%)
    Teacher (20%)
    Social Worker (18%)
    Fisherman (16%)
    Construction Worker (15%)
    Agricultural Labourer (11%)
    Builder / Bricklayer (9%)
    Underground Utility Worker (9%)
    Scaffolder (6%)
    Mechanic (6%)
    Roofer (6%)
    Refuse Collector (Bin Worker) (5%)
    Train driver (5%)

The research also revealed that nine in 10 Brits value devices capable of withstanding harsh conditions, citing reducing physical strain through equipment (54%), alerting workers to risks more quickly (53%) and automating repetitive tasks (45%) as ways to ease pressure.

To emphasise the importance of durable technology in tough jobs, Samsung enlisted farmer and shepherdess Amanda Owen to give an insight into the realities of working life on a farm.

From mucking out and herding animals, to operating machinery and navigating unpredictable weather, Amanda showcases how physically demanding farm life can be, highlighting the need for technology that can keep up with resilient workers themselves.

Amanda Owen says: “Farming isn’t for the faint hearted – we’re up before dawn, battling the elements, and it takes real resilience out here. In this environment, our tech needs to be just as tough—anything that can’t handle water or a drop is a liability. We need something rugged on the outside and smart on the inside, that can keep up with the job.”

According to respondents, 63% of people believe for a job to be ‘tough’ it must take place in an extreme environment. 58% of jobs which can be considered challenging also involve working with dangerous equipment, with a further 55% fearing dangerous people.

Two thirds (62%) of Brits agree that tough jobs need more recognition in the UK saying that they play a vital role in keeping the country running (64%), often work long hours with little rest (46%) and face hazardous conditions daily (62%) as to why they deserve more recognition.

The Samsung Rugged range, which includes the Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Tab Active5 Pro, is designed to take on tough, rugged environments, offering water and dust resistance[5], drop protection[6], long battery life as well as replaceable batteries, and enhanced touch sensitivity for use in the rain[7] or with gloves[8]

Annika Bizon, Mobile Experience VP of Product & Marketing, Samsung UK&I says:“Tough roles demand robust support. Whether it’s maintaining connectivity in the field or ensuring mission-critical tasks aren’t interrupted, having the right tech in place is essential. The Rugged range has been engineered specifically for these environments — combining military-grade durability with the business tools workforces require.”

Almost half (46%) of Brits admitted they don’t feel like they have the resilience to take on a physically demanding role, a figure that dropped to 40% among men.

In contrast, 52% of women believe they have what it takes to handle roles that might require higher levels of emotional and mental capacity.

When it comes to younger generations, 61% of those aged 18–24 have considered taking up physically tough roles when exploring career options. This compares with just 11% of Boomers, who prefer to steer clear of jobs they’d deem tough.

Two in five (38%) agree there’s a misconception that physically demanding jobs don’t require robust technology.

From construction sites and emergency callouts to remote locations and extreme weather – where phone failure simply isn’t an option – Samsung’s Rugged range is built to go the distance with those who keep the country running.

Engineered for endurance, the devices offer military-grade protection, taking up to a 1.8 metre drop with the cover on[9], ready for whatever the job throws at them.

The programmable hot key allows you to set up shortcuts for frequently used apps, you can transform your device into a walkie-talkie, torch, scanner, payment terminal or whatever you need it to be.

But it’s not just the hardware that’s built for resilience. With the ability to set up Knox Suite[10] swiftly with QuickStart Go, teams can be up and running with business-ready devices in no time, while Samsung Knox security keeps data protected against malware or threats.

And with 3-year warranty, up to 8- years of security maintenance releases and eight generations of operating system updates[11], plus next-business-day doorstep exchange[12], Rugged users get the reassurance and support they need, long after deployment.

  • MIL-OSI Economics: [Editorial] Samsung Employees Play Vital Role as Solve For Tomorrow Mentors

    Source: Samsung

The global electronics giant has decided to take a closer look at the work done by its mentors – a group of Samsung employees who have volunteered their time to support participating students in the 2025 Solve for Tomorrow competition.

The Top 20 schools that were selected to attend this year’s Samsung Solve for Tomorrow – Design Thinking workshops were paired with a group of mentors who were more than ready to turn and empower participating school learners into the next generation of problem-solvers. During these workshops which took place between April 10 and May 30, the 2025 mentors were able to assist both the participating learners and their educators by ensuring that they were equipped with essential skills and tools to approach problem-solving creatively and systematically.

These advisors also played a crucial role in ensuring that the workshops fostered critical thinking, design thinking practices, teamwork and the ability for the learners to develop human-centred solutions. During these workshops, the mentors were able to offer support through Question & Answer (Q&A) sessions, video calls and other forms of communication. And when the work of these mentors was analysed – looking at how they contributed in empowering learners from different schools to transform ideas into tangible solutions that address real-world challenges – ultimately leading to positive change in their communities – this is how the whole process penned out:

Zanele Sobuswa who was assigned to mentor learners form Mthiyaqhwa High School, in Kwa-Zulu Natal expressed just how  excited she was to be part of the group of mentors this year as well. Last year, Zanele mentored Mbilwi Secondary School learners that hailed from Limpopo into a second place win. She is convinced that she can also help this year’s KZN-based school to not only move into the Top 10, but also to be part of the Top 3 winners for 2025.

This year, Zanele acted as a support structure – guiding learners of Mthiyaqhwa High School through the competition process and provided them with guidance in areas of problem-solving, research and prototyping. As a committed advisor who contributed to the development of learners last year as well – Zanele has once again helped to develop these incredible learner’s skills in STEM and encouraged their creative thinking capacity.

Another dynamic Samsung employee who returned as a volunteer this year is Rose Legodi. Rose is a very passionate marketing professional at Samsung – she possesses a curious nature, which allows her to approach life with imagination, creativity and an open mind. She was yet again more than willing to share her expertise, experience and guidance with the learners from two Bloemfontein-based schools: Lenakeng Technical and Lereng Secondary Schools.

In addition, Rose played a critical role in guiding learners from the two schools through the competition process and this included brainstorming and research – in preparation for the prototype development stage. She was also able to assist this year’s learners and their educators to not only identify a challenge, but to also come up with a solution that will help address a genuine and pressing issue within their community related to infrastructure and safety, using technology. Like all the other advisors, she also ensured that the ideas for their solutions were based on the 2025 theme: “Infrastructure and Safety”.

Sizwe Mahlobo, another dedicated volunteer was assigned to a Limpopo based school – Thengwe Secondary. Sizwe has played a pivotal role in keeping his students focused and on track throughout the competition. He has successfully provided guidance and support to the learners, helping them to understand the competition’s requirements and develop their solutions. Importantly, during the workshops – Sizwe was able to help both the learners and teachers of Thengwe Secondary School with planning, learning and developing their solution – using the design thinking process.

As a mentor and advisor, he has also managed to offer STEM expertise and experience, checking the learners’ ideas and helping them refine their solutions. Sizwe has successfully provided guidance and support to the learners as they are in the process of developing their projects and prototypes – helping them to refine their ideas even further, while improving their problem-solving skills.

With the help of the Samsung mentors – one of the most significant and consistent takeaways from this year’s workshops is how the learners were able to effortlessly exercise their critical thinking skills. They have now been able to add to their STEM proficiency and are prepared for the rigors of higher education. Another critical observation is the growth in the learners confidence – allowing them to take on leadership roles, collaborate with their peers and successfully prepare to build their fully realised projects from idea to execution.

  • MIL-OSI Economics: [Editorial: Youth Month Testimonials] Samsung Education-Focused CSR Programmes Making A Positive Difference in the Lives of South African Youth

    Source: Samsung

Samsung’s education-focused, corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes strive to promote innovation and empower youth through technology; with the ultimate aim of addressing societal issues.

These programmes offer support to underprivileged youth and aim to cultivate creative thinking while also providing critical skills training needed by the local economy. By doing so, Samsung is creating opportunities for young people to make a positive impact on their communities and society. Samsung spoke to some of the beneficiaries from its education-focused initiatives that are driven through technology and this is what they had to say:

Siyabonga ‘Siya” Mojalefa Tshabalala originally from Qwaqwa in the Free State was part of the 2022 Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) programme in partnership with Central University of Technology (CUT). SIC is a global initiative that upskills youth aged 18-25 in future technologies to enhance their employability while focusing on AI, IoT, Big Data and Coding. Siya explained: “ Through this SIC programme – I gained hands-on experience through paper coding, peer programming and projects and these skills have helped me to solve real-world problems. The programme also taught me some important soft skills that are required in work environments, these included communication, critical thinking, problem solving skills and ability to collaborate with others.”

Another beneficiary, 26 year old Mulalo Ndou, did her undergrad in Mathematical Science and majored in Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Johannesburg (UJ). She also completed her honours in Risk Analysis (Cum-laude) at the University of the Free State (UFS).

According to Mulalo, Samsung’s bursary fund was her light at the end of the tunnel. Mulalo received funding from Samsung when she needed it to complete her last year of studies. “I lost the funding I had for my studies in my final year and had to go back home, but Samsung came through for me, she said. “This bursary fund paid for my annual fees and accommodation in my final year and postgraduate studies. It also provided me with a monthly meal and living stipend as well as an allowance for a laptop.”

After Mulalo finished her postgrad, Samsung provided her with an internship opportunity. “When the internship period was over, Samsung gave me a full-time position as a Process Improvement Data Analyst/Reporting Specialist am very grateful to the individuals at Samsung who helped me to be successful in my role,” she added. In an effort to pay it forward, Mulalo also works as a volunteer at Rising Females in STEM, as she is also a Rising Female in Technology and Mathematics.

Mulalo said that she has always wanted to be one of the mentors in the Samsung Solve For Tomorrow (SFT) programme. “This SFT opportunity came at the right time and has been an amazing experience. I am learning something new each day from the participating learners and most importantly, how to become a great mentor.”

Nzumbululo Todani, an 18 year old learner from Mbilwi Secondary in Thohoyandou, Limpopo. Nzumbululo is one of the beneficiaries from the SFT contest that challenges students to use STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills to solve real-world problems in their respective, local communities. His participation in the SFT competition has proved to be invaluable – he attributes his academic achievements in 2024 to his experience in the programme. Nzumbululo was awarded the top learner in the province for the 2024 NSC examinations with an average aggregate of 97%. Also, he was awarded for obtaining 300/300 in two gateway subjects: Physical Science and Geography.

“When I participated in the contest, I assumed the role of team co-ordinator, managing and planning the daily landscape of the project and doing quality control on the prototype as well as all papers written and the final presentation. The competition left me with invaluable communication, leadership, planning, evaluation and time management skills.”

Thoriso Rangata is a 32 year male entrepreneur and the owner of KTO Digital – a Business Process Automation, Software Development Services and Background Screening Software as a Service (SaaS) solution provider. He currently stays in Johannesburg but is originally from Limpopo and is one of the beneficiaries of the Samsung EEIP Entrepreneurship Development Programme. Thoriso became part of the programme when he responded to a public call for applications. At the time, his business needed support so that they could meet the company’s growth objectives.”

Since being part of the EEIP programme, Thoriso won the Nedbank Business of the Year Award in 2022. His company also launched their own product and received accreditation for the business as a credit bureau in 2022.

“The other direct benefits that we received from being part of the programme included: Grant Funding, Asset Financing and Continuous Business Mentorship that our business needed in order for us to move forward, Thoriso added. “We strongly believe that the skills we acquired from this EEIP programme, which included Business regulatory governance structures and strategic business growth approaches/methods – have contributed to the success of our business to date.”

Through these education-focused CSR programmes that are driven by technology, Samsung is actively promoting the transfer of critical skills as well as both employment and entrepreneurship opportunities that are needed by the country’s youth and the local economy.

The testimonials from the youth that participated in Samsung’s programmes mentioned above, are a clear indication of the impact the company is making in South Africa. By continuing to fund such programmes, Samsung is working towards winning the fight against youth unemployment, inequality and poverty in the country;  through job creation and the development of a skilled workforce.

These Design Thinking Workshops were part of Phase 2 of the competition – where the top 20 schools were invited to collaborate and develop paper prototypes of their solutions. This phase has offered learners from various schools in the country, an opportunity to experience hands-on collaborative guidance from Samsung’s mentors who helped them to tackle the next phase of their prototype developments.

Themed: “Infrastructure and Safety” – the Design Thinking workshops in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest are designed to equip learners with the skills to transform their ideas into workable solutions, particularly those addressing community challenges. The recent workshops focused on critical thinking, human-centred problem-solving and collaborative design.

According to Lefa Makgato, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for Samsung Electronics in Southern Africa: “It was amazing to see how well the school learners and their educators that participated in this year’s Design Thinking Workshops responded to their assigned mentors and the experience as a whole. Both the learners and their educators found this experience engaging and beneficial for their learning and design processes.”

“As Samsung, we believe that the activities that these learners engaged in during the workshops are meeting the overall objectives of the Solve for Tomorrow competition. This contest has, from the onset, been seeking to foster collaboration among the learners, educators and their mentors as well as to develop their skills and promote a growth mindset. Importantly, this experience has now encouraged independent learning, challenged the learners’ perspectives and allowed their mentors the opportunity to provide them with valuable feedback.”

Some of the aspects of the Design Thinking workshops included the following:

Skills Development: Learners have gained valuable skills in translating their ideas into practical solutions that can solve their respective communities’ problems.
Human-Centred Design: The workshops emphasised understanding user needs and created solutions that can address real-world challenges.
Cognitive & Structured Processes: Participants have now learnt structured processes for creative problem-solving.
Collaboration & Communication: The workshops have fostered teamwork and improved the learner’s communication skills, which are essential for successful project development.
Prototype Development: These workshops have now successfully prepared learners for the next phase of the competition, where they will develop and present their prototypes.
Inspiration & Motivation: The workshops are designed to foster a mindset of innovation and problem-solving, encouraging learners to “think, speak and act like designers.
Support for Teachers: The workshops have also gone an extra mile as they have benefitted the teachers as well. This platform and the mentors have provided the tools and guidance for the educators to support their learners in the next, prototype development phase.

And furthermore, with the help of Samsung mentors – the workshops have cultivated a mindset of innovation and great problem-solving skills. The Samsung team is convinced that the solutions developed by the brilliant learners in conjunction with their educators during this year’s workshops – have the potential to make a real difference in their respective communities.

Makgato added: “We are pleased with the impact and outcomes of this year’s Design Thinking Workshops. And, we are certain that these workshops have achieved the objective of enhancing the learners’ ability to identify, analyse and solve problems creatively and effectively.

“As Samsung, we remain committed to using programmes such as the Solve for Tomorrow to bridge the country’s resource gap in STEM education. We believe that by fostering innovation and social impact through technology, we also inspire learners to use their skills to improve their respective communities,” she concluded.

  • MIL-Evening Report: Politics with Michelle Grattan: Senator Tammy Tyrrell on wild days in Tasmania

Source: The Conversation (Au and NZ) – By Michelle Grattan, Professorial Fellow, University of Canberra

Tasmanian politics has been thrown into chaos after a Labor motion of no confidence forced Premier Jeremy Rockliff to either resign or call for a new election. The premier opted for the latter, with Tasmanians to vote on July 19, only something over a year into the four-year term.

In Tasmania, Australia’s smallest state in terms of both size and population, local issues dominate. Labor homed in on economic mismanagement.

But there is controversy over the Macquarie Point Hobart AFL stadium (which the major parties support) as well as the state’s important salmon industry, which saw a lot of attention federally in the lead-up to the last election.

To talk all things Tasmanian, we’re joined by Independent Tasmanian Senator Tammy Tyrrell. She was elected in 2022 under the banner of the Jacqui Lambie Network a former member of the party but left last year. We talk about the state election, as well as federal issues and the new Senate.

Tyrrell laments Tasmanians’ being made to vote again so soon,

I was out and about on the northwest coast of Tasmania all day yesterday and everybody was like, what the heck is going on? They don’t want to go to an election, the people of Tasmania, they want the parliament to actually be grown ups and sort it out amongst themselves.

The budget in Tasmania is in a shambles and we’re so far in the red that we can’t see any way out of it. But really? There’s no way that the Labor [party] is going to form government unless they form a minority government and no Tasmanian will support a Labor-Greens government again in a hurry. But I really think that the Liberal government should have elevated somebody else from within to be the leader, to be the premier.

On her former boss Jacqui Lambie whose party has now collapsed, Tyrrell says it’s because of the kind of person she is,

[In] the federal election, Jacqui focused outside of Tasmania. She focused on expanding the network. And it didn’t work for her because she didn’t campaign enough here in Tasmania.

It’s a shame that she’s not supporting the candidate that is still sitting with her under the network. […] I think she should have stuck by Andrew Jenner and supported him through this [Tasmanian] election because he has shown loyalty to her and he has stuck it through thick and thin. So I believe he should be able to run back under the banner.

Jacqui is a strong person and the network had every chance to be a strong network, but Jacqui [is] not really a team player. She’s more of a single athlete because she’s so determined and strong of her opinion and it’s hard to take a group forward when you’ve got such a strong force that does not communicate sideways very well. She is a strong human being and I still believe in Jacqui but it makes it hard for her to have a team.

On the salmon farming industry, while Tyrrell voices her support, she agrees that environmental concerns do matter,

I support any industry that puts jobs and money into small rural and regional communities in Tasmania. I agree that they need to be as eco and as green friendly as possible and I know that the salmon industry is doing things to be clean and as green as possible. But I also believe that we need to look after the people who live and work in Tasmania.

We can’t sacrifice an industry completely just to satisfy the people that don’t like the salmon industry. I will always support the people of Tasmania and encourage industry and business to be as eco-friendly as possible, which is why we’re encouraging as many biofuels and eco-green fuel companies as possible to come to Tasmania, and thrive here.

On reports that the Nationals approached her to join their party. Tyrell says while she didn’t seriously consider it, she took it as a “compliment”,

It was a big compliment though. The Nats represent rural and regional Australia beautifully, by speaking their voice and for them to see that I am representing the people of Tasmania in a good light. It was a huge compliment to be approached to join them. But I’d already been in a relationship and I’m quite happy being a single divorcee.

It’s amazing being an independent, it means that I can say and do what my community wants me to in their voice without having to agree to broad-sweeping politics or legislative ideas that I don’t agree with fundamentally.
