Question for written answer E-002111/2024
to the Commission
Rule 144
Lena Düpont (PPE), Christine Schneider (PPE)
Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006 currently governs how foods may be fortified with vitamin D and minerals. However, no harmonised maximum levels have been set so national laws apply. The different maximum levels in force are causing distortions of competition in the internal market for food suppliers.
- 1.Why have no harmonised maximum levels so far been set?
- 2.Does the Commission plan to revise Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006 in this legislative term?
- 3.Does the Commission plan to set harmonised maximum levels for the addition of vitamins and minerals in the near future?
