The National Lab Research SLAM, now in its second year, showcases the innovative research conducted at 17 Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratories and illustrates the pivotal role the National Labs play in the nation’s innovation ecosystem. The National Lab Research SLAM challenges early-career scientists to deliver a compelling three-minute presentation of their research to a non-specialist audience, emphasizing the critical importance of science communication in society. Contestants are permitted one slide, but no additional resources or props. On March 5, 2025, finalists from each of the 17 National Laboratories will compete for the title of “Best Presentation” in their respective research categories awarded by a panel of esteemed judges and a “People’s Choice” winner awarded by the audience.
