At the General Affairs Council on 28 March 2025, Romania, supported by 15 other Member States, called for a strong post-2027 Cohesion Policy with at least the same budget as for the current period, focusing on supporting disadvantaged regions.

• 1.Does the Commission not agree that, in the current international context, the EU’s economic and social cohesion has a strategic role to play?
• 2.Does the Commission intend to allocate, under the next Multiannual Financial Framework, a budget at least as substantial as the one foreseen for the current period to support the reduction of development disparities between EU regions?
• 3.What is the Commission’s position on the request by the 16 countries to keep real regional GDP per capita as the main classifying criterion?
