MIL-OSI Europe: Written question – Implementation of the Platform Work Directive – E-001243/2025

Source: European Parliament

Question for written answer  E-001243/2025
to the Commission
Rule 144
Per Clausen (The Left), Leila Chaibi (The Left)

Platform workers in Europe are worried about Member States’ late and possibly insufficient implementation of Directive (EU) 2024/2831 on improving working conditions in platform work (Platform Work Directive – PWD).

There are well-founded fears that the slow implementation of the directive could have already contributed to job losses among platform workers in Member States, including in Austria, as highlighted by the European Transport Workers’ Federation[1].

In the light of this serious situation, can the Commission kindly:

  • 1.Provide an overview of the progress of the implementation of the PWD in each Member State?
  • 2.Explain how it will proactively contact Member States and remind them of the need for the speedy and thorough implementation of the PWD?
  • 3.Provide information about any further initiatives that it is considering that could improve the working and employment conditions of the EU’s millions of platform workers?
