With the help of cryptobio-cabins in the capital’s government service centers, Muscovites have issued more than 230 thousand new-generation foreign passports valid for 10 years. Modern equipment allows you to go through all stages of filing an application – from scanning documents to taking biometric data – without visiting employees of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

A pilot project simplifying the process of obtaining biometric passports was launched in 2020. Today, the service can be used in most My Documents offices.

Documents are accepted by appointment onlymos.ru portal, and in the order of a live electronic queue if there are free slots. To apply, you must choose office, equipped with a cryptobiocab, prepare the necessary documents and come to the government services center. The staff will help you fill out an application and use the equipment. Then the software and hardware complex will transfer the data to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

It takes a month to make a passport, but in some cases the process can last up to three months. For citizens temporarily staying in the capital, including those registered at their place of residence, the period is up to 90 days. After receiving notification of readiness, the document can be picked up at the same My Documents office where it was submitted.

The service is available to all citizens regardless of their place of registration or residence in Russia. The state fee is six thousand rubles for persons over 14 years of age and three thousand rubles for children under this age.

Government service centres operate daily: flagship offices are open from 10:00 to 22:00, district offices from 08:00 to 20:00.
