BEIJING, May 9 (Xinhua) — More than 9.14 million people with disabilities will be employed across China in 2024, up 512,000 from a year earlier, according to an official report released Thursday.

The volume of contracts concluded for basic medical insurance services and family doctor contracts among disabled people in China was higher than the national average, according to a document released by the All-China Federation of Disabled People (ACDF).

The report shows that over the past year, more than 8.66 million people with disabilities received basic rehabilitation services, and nearly half a million children with disabilities benefited from rehabilitation assistance.

By the end of 2024, there were 13,297 rehabilitation institutions for the disabled in China, with a total of 373,000 employees.

In terms of social security, in 2024, more than 27.48 million people with disabilities in China were covered by the basic old-age insurance program, and more than 12.46 million were receiving pensions.

By the end of last year, a total of 4,614 facilities for serving people with disabilities had been built, including 2,250 comprehensive service facilities and 1,246 rehabilitation facilities. -0-
