MIL-OSI Russia: Seminar for Central Asian Educators Opens in Urumqi

BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) — A seminar for teachers from Central Asian countries has opened at Xinjiang Normal University, the university’s website reported.

This is the first event held at the Central Asian branch of the Global Institute for Teacher Education. The seminar was announced at the 1st China-Central Asia Education Ministers’ Meeting.

The workshop is designed to enhance participants’ ability to understand and apply artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and promote the deep integration of digital and intelligent technologies and pedagogy.

The seminar was attended by 30 teachers from Central Asian countries. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Sitora Khisorieva, a teacher from Tajikistan, said that she was interested in mastering methods of applying the latest achievements in digital and intellectual technologies in pedagogical practice.

On the same day, Professor Song Jihua of Beijing Normal University gave a lecture at the seminar entitled “The Age of Artificial Intelligence and International Education and Teaching.”

Founded in 1978, Xinjiang Normal University is located in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. So far, it has helped establish three Confucius Institutes in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. -0-
