ULAN BATOR, May 31 (Xinhua) — More than 6,400 heads of livestock have died in steppe fires in Mongolia between January and May 2025, the country’s General Administration of Emergency Situations said on Saturday.
During the specified period, a total of 54 families were left homeless in 12 Mongolian aimags.
In view of this, the General Administration of Emergency Situations has once again warned residents of Ulaanbaatar and 21 Mongolian aimags not to light fires or throw cigarette butts on the ground in the current drought conditions.
As of Saturday, firefighters are working to contain one steppe fire in Mandal soum of Mongolia’s Selenge aimag, an official statement said. –0–
