The Moscow Longevity project continues its summer season. Its latest innovation is rowing and sailing and rafting.
“Water sports are becoming increasingly popular not only among young people, but also among older Muscovites – the occupancy rate of groups in “Moscow Longevity” has been breaking all records for the second year in a row. In this regard, together with suppliers and partners of the project, we decided to prepare new products that will allow you to learn how to operate different types of watercraft and help you spend your summer even more actively. Now, in addition to SUP surfing and kayaking, we will add training in rowing and sailing and rafting. In addition, this season, for the first time, project participants will be offered boat excursions along the Moscow River, which are visited daily by more than 750 people,” said the deputy head of the capital’s Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.
Learn to sail
Rowing and sailing classes include two parts: theoretical (on land) and practical (on water). Trainers note that classes on the shore will be no less exciting: participants will practice rowing skills, learn the rules for approaching ships and piers, learn how to tie basic types of sea knots and do much more.
On the water, older Muscovites will be able to hone their acquired skills. They will operate a boat both individually and as part of a team.
River rafting
During rafting training, Muscovites will master team techniques for controlling an inflatable raft, rowing techniques, and body load distribution. Training will take place both on land and on flat water.
Specialized methods for developing reaction speed were developed for the participants, since this is one of the key guarantees of safety and comfort for river rafting. After completing the course, older Muscovites will be able to take part in competitions.
Training in all water sports is conducted by experienced trainers. Each lesson begins with safety instructions and rules of action on the water.
Women over 55 and men over 60 can join the classes. The training has virtually no contraindications or age restrictions. Participants will need sportswear or swimwear. A life jacket will be provided to everyone on site. Trainers recommend protecting yourself from the sun: wear a hat and clothes that cover the body, and apply sunscreen.
You can sign up for the group at mos.ru portal. To do this, enter the name of the activity in the search bar: rafting or rowing and sailing. In addition, you can contact any Moscow longevity center, where the project staff will help you sign up for a group.
The summer season is traditionally one of the brightest and most eventful for the Moscow Longevity project. Earlier Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development, said that this year the summer program also included daily exercise sessions at various city sites— both in iconic places in the city center and in other areas, walking tours, Nordic walking classes, etc. In addition, participants will enjoy a large number of competitions, master classes, and events as part of the city festival “Summer in Moscow”.
Project “Summer in Moscow” — the main event of the season. It unites the most vibrant events of the capital. Every day in all districts of the city there are charity, cultural and sports programs, most of which are free. The Summer in Moscow project is being held for the second time, and the new season will be more eventful: new, original and colorful festivals and events will be added to the traditional ones.
