BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) — China’s National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Saturday extended a blue alert for continued heavy rainfall in some parts of the country.
According to the agency’s forecast, heavy rains are expected to hit areas of the provinces of Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Zhejiang, Yunnan, Guangdong, Heilongjiang, and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from 08:00 Saturday to 08:00 Sunday.
Experts believe that daily rainfall in northern Jiangsu Province will exceed 150 mm.
The NMC advised local authorities to be prepared for heavy rainfall and take necessary drainage measures in urban areas and agricultural lands.
Let us recall that China has adopted a four-level warning system for adverse weather conditions, in which the highest level of danger is indicated by red, followed by orange, yellow and blue. -0-
