“Today, Moscow has more than 430 elevated platforms at tram stops. They are located at the same level as the low floor of trams, which makes it easier for people with limited mobility, as well as passengers with strollers and bicycles, to board and disembark. As a result, trips become even more comfortable, safer and faster. We are developing tram infrastructure on the instructions of Sergei Sobyanin,” said Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry
The elevated platforms are equipped with ramps and convenient approaches to the tram. This makes boarding and disembarking comfortable for all passengers, including people with limited mobility, people with strollers and bicycles – it is enough to take just one step to get on and off the tram. In addition, thanks to the elevated platforms, the likelihood of road accidents involving pedestrians at tram stops is reduced to a minimum.
To make the streets safer and more beautiful, specialists also bury overhead cable lines, renew the pavement of sidewalks and roadways, install new lighting poles, and carry out landscaping.
