Moscow is preparing to begin testing the new generation metro train “Moscow-2026”, said Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov.
According to Maxim Liksutov, trial operation without passengers could begin as early as 2025. If they are successful, the trains will begin operating in full in 2026, starting with Line 2.
The Moscow-2026 train is currently under development, and we expect the first test samples to be received by the end of this year. These tests are a key step towards the trains being able to start carrying passengers by 2026, said Maxim Liksutov.
Line 2 will be the first to use new rolling stock as part of the city’s broader efforts to modernize the metro system.
