COLOMBO, May 11 (Xinhua) — The death toll has risen to 15 and more than 20 others were injured when a bus plunged off a cliff in Kotmale in Sri Lanka’s Central Province on Sunday morning, police said.
The victims were taken to district hospitals. An investigation into the causes of the accident has been launched, police said.
Road accidents are common in Sri Lanka. According to official data, they often involve buses.
As of April 2, a total of 592 Sri Lankans have died in 565 fatal road accidents recorded this year, police said earlier. –0–
