HOHHOT, May 14 (Xinhua) — Former China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Chairman Wang Yilin was sentenced to 13 years in prison on Tuesday for accepting bribes.
The verdict was handed down by the Intermediate People’s Court of Erdos City in north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
According to the court’s verdict, Wang Yilin was also fined 3 million yuan (US$416,719) and his illegal proceeds will be confiscated and transferred to the state treasury.
The investigation found that from 1996 to 2020, Wang Yilin abused his position in various positions to assist others in matters such as personnel reshuffles, project contracts, and business activities. In exchange, he illegally received money and material assets totaling more than 35 million yuan. -0-
