The HICOOL 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Competition was launched on Wednesday in Beijing’s Pinggu district, one of the seven competition regions of the contest.
The competition is designed to build a multi-level, multi-dimensional, and diversified international entrepreneurial model, welcome high-quality startups worldwide, facilitate entrepreneurs to grow, and expand their businesses in Beijing.
As one of the 12 categories of the competition, modern agriculture and food technology attracted a total of 711 projects from 63 countries and regions this year, covering various specialized fields including agricultural informatization, food technology, and biological breeding.
As a key hub for industrial talent development, Pinggu district has hosted this competition category for four consecutive years.
The district is the core zone of Beijing’s agricultural sci-tech innovation demonstration area. As such, it is positioning itself as the “Zhongguancun for agriculture.” It has established a high-end industrial landscape centered on modern agricultural technology, featuring digital agriculture and eco-agriculture as distinctive characteristics.
