BEIJING, May 31 (Xinhua) — The Chinese military on Saturday conducted combat-ready patrols in the territorial waters and airspace around China’s Huangyan Island and surrounding areas, an official statement said.
The People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) Southern Zone Combat Command this month organized naval and air forces to continuously strengthen patrols in the sea and airspace around the territorial waters near China’s Huangyan Island, to further strengthen command and control over relevant waters and airspace.
The move is aimed at resolutely safeguarding China’s national sovereignty and security, as well as maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea region, the PLA Southern Command said. -0-
