MEXICO CITY, June 27 (Xinhua) — Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Friday that her government will protect Mexican migrants in the United States, where 252 Mexican citizens have been arrested in a series of immigration raids.

“Our solidarity, our support and everything we can. We will do everything to protect our migrant brothers and sisters,” the president said at a daily press conference.

She also noted that as part of a strategy to strengthen protections for Mexican migrants, the country’s consulates in the United States have been instructed to visit Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection detention centers at least once a day.

K. Sheinbaum added that consuls are required to hold public hearings once a week “to listen and understand what is happening and take action.”

The president stressed that her government will spare no effort or resources to protect migrants from threats and abuses. She promised that complaints and concerns raised by Mexicans abroad will be addressed without exception. –0–
