Following a meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, European Council President António Costa praised Moldova’s progress towards EU membership, highlighting the country’s transformative journey since its formal application three years ago. Costa emphasized the EU’s unwavering support for Moldova amidst external challenges, including energy weaponisation, FIMI and hybrid attacks, and reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to Moldova’s future prosperity. To bolster Moldova’s economy and reduce energy costs, he also announced a substantial financial package, including a 1.9 billion euro support plan as part of the Moldova Growth Plan.
