The Commission (through Commissioner Lahbib) has put the cost of violence against women at EUR 300 billion a year. That figure was given in an interview with Bruzz.be on 14 February 2025.

• 1.Has the Commission based that figure on a study by its own departments or on the study by the European Institute for Gender Equality?
• 2.Has the figure been verified by an independent body?
• 3.Does the Commission agree that the stated cost of violence against women has not been seriously quantified to date, since, by and large, the study referred to contains very creative extrapolations and it can therefore be assumed that the figure is an overestimate?
