A thematic creative program was prepared at VDNKh in honor of International Music Day, which is celebrated annually on October 1. The events will last the entire month. This was reported by Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.
“The Worker and Kolkhoz Woman pavilion will host concerts, lectures and performances for Muscovites and tourists. For example, visitors will hear works by classics – Rachmaninov, Glinka, Bizet and Mozart,” said Natalia Sergunina.

The play “The Sign of the Opera” staged by the Moscow Puppet Theatre will be presented on October 2 at 19:00. The audience will travel through four famous stories – “The Magic Flute” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, “Ivan Susanin” by Mikhail Glinka, “Orpheus and Eurydice” by Christoph Gluck and “Carmen” by Georges Bizet.
On October 3 at 19:00 there will be a musical program “Russian Basses”. Arias and romances from the repertoire of the singer Fyodor Chaliapin will be performed by soloists of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia and the Moscow Academic Musical Theater named after K.S. Stanislavsky and V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko.
The Gnessin Baroque ensemble will perform ancient compositions from the 17th century on October 5 at 19:00.
On October 9 at 19:00 there will be a concert “Sounding Canvases: Roerich” with sand animation inspired by the works of the famous artist. Guests will hear Armenian folk and liturgical melodies, as well as music performed on the duduk.
On October 12 at 6:00 p.m. guests will be invited to the lecture “The Unearthly Beauty of the Soprano: From Ariadne to the Queen of Shemakha” from the series “The Opera Voice in History: Changing and Unchanging”.
Listeners will get acquainted with the late works of the famous Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff and his last work, “Symphonic Dances,” at a lecture that will take place on October 27 at 16:00.
