  • MIL-OSI Australia: NT man charged over Territory’s largest ever ketamine importation

Source: Northern Territory Police and Fire Services

A Northern Territory man appeared in Darwin Local Court last Thursday after being charged with the alleged importation and possession of more than 4kg of ketamine.

It is believed to be the Northern Territory’s largest ketamine seizure.

The man, 32, who was arrested on Wednesday 23 April 2025, is due to face court again on 2 May 2025.

A Northern Territory Joint Organised Crime Taskforce (NT JOCTF) investigation began in April 2025, after Australian Border Force (ABF) members at Sydney Airport identified a consignment suspected of containing ketamine that arrived on a flight from Germany.

Investigators from NT JOCTF, which comprises of members from the Northern Territory Police Force, Australian Federal Police, ABF and Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC), replaced the illicit drugs – which were disguised in several sports energy drink and protein bar packages – with an inert substance.

After retrieving the crystallised ketamine from the packages, officers determined the estimated weight of the illicit drugs to be 4.08kg. This amount of ketamine has an estimated street value of $800,000.

The parcel was then delivered to its intended address in Zuccoli, near Darwin, where officers allegedly observed a man signing and taking possession of the delivery.

NT JOCFT investigators then executed a search warrant at the property and arrested the man.

During the search, officers allegedly located the opened parcel containing the substituted illicit drugs.

The man, 32, was charged with the following offences:

    • One count of importing a commercial quantity of ketamine, contrary to section 307.1(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth);
    • One count of possessing a dangerous drug, contrary to section 7(1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1990 (NT); and
    • One count of supply a dangerous drug, contrary to section 5(1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1990 (NT).

Each of these offences carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

NT Police Force Detective Superintendent Lee Morgan said, “This operation has resulted in the Northern Territory’s largest ever recorded ketamine seizure.

“4 kilograms of Ketamine is 40,000 times the minimum commercial quantity and is estimated to be worth $800,000 when sold.

“This package was delivered from outside of the country and the NT Police Force reiterate that these drugs are manufactured in unregulated and unhygienic conditions, and anyone choosing to use them is gambling with their life. We will continue to work closely with our partner agencies to combat imports of illicit substances into the Northern Territory.”

AFP Superintendent Greg Davis said the AFP and its law enforcement, intelligence and border agency partners worked tirelessly to identify, target and disrupt criminal syndicates in their attempts to import and distribute illicit drugs into Australia.

“The AFP, together with our partners under the NT JOCTF have prevented ketamine from reaching Australian streets under this investigation,” Supt Davis said.

“Our investigators continue to work collaboratively to ensure Australia remains a hostile environment for criminal syndicates in order to prevent any form of illicit drugs from entering the Australian community and causing widespread harm.

“Ketamine specifically is a dangerous sedative; its dissociative effects block sensory brain signals and can cause memory loss, feelings of being detached from one’s body and the inability to perceive dangers.

“This operation should serve as a significant warning to transnational serious organised crime syndicates – the AFP and our partners remain one step ahead of your illicit activities and will ensure you are brought to justice.”

    Career Insight: NCA Trainee Solicitor

An NCA trainee provides an insight into their training within the National Crime Agency (NCA)

The National Crime Agency (NCA) plays a key role in the fight against serious and organised crime in the UK. As a trainee within NCA Legal you will get the opportunity to work on a wide range of issues, from seizing assets to advising on live operations.

As a trainee you will normally undertake four seats across the two years, with exposure to a huge breadth of work. The order of the seats is subject to change depending on NCA Legal priorities, but will be designed to ensure you get the maximum out of each.

Within our Civil Litigation Team, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of matters which could include judicial reviews, civil claims, inquests and public inquiries, and to work with colleagues across the Agency. Often these are high profile cases and inquiries. During my seat I spent time in the Court of Appeal, working with senior KCs and was given an opportunity to work on my own caseload supervised by a senior lawyer. Whilst this early responsibility may seem daunting, NCA Legal fosters a culture of collaboration and encouragement that quickly builds your confidence.

Within our Financial Disruptions Litigation Team, you will work on a collection of high-profile asset recovery cases. These are usually fast-paced, and offer a great opportunity for trainees to work closely with senior lawyers and counsel at an early stage. Cases often involve forfeiture of high-value assets such as property, bank accounts and recently crypto assets, and provide trainees with an opportunity to work alongside international partners.

Trainees have a number of options for their third seat, including a chance to be seconded outside the Agency. Past trainees have worked in the Home Office to gain policy experience, advising ministers on the passage of bills through Parliament. Other trainees, like myself, have used their third seat to gain experience in a different team within NCA Legal. These include our Commercial and Employment Team, who advise on employment matters including tribunals, and advise the Agency in relation to its commercial dealings, including compliance with new public procurement legislation. Another is our Disruptive Actions Litigation Team, who advise on disruptions to criminal activity including civil orders and sanctions.

Finally, trainees will complete a seat in our Data and Operational Advisory Team, who provide legal advice to teams across the Agency. This means that the caseload in this seat can be incredibly broad, allowing you to advise on ongoing operations, international liaison, extradition and data sharing. In this seat you will come to understand the incredible range of work the NCA undertakes, and how your role in NCA Legal is pivotal to achieving the Agency’s objectives to protect the public from serious and organised crime.

Training at the NCA is a totally unique experience. It offers you the opportunity to develop a wide breadth of legal knowledge and experience, in novel and often high-profile matters – and importantly, within a training culture that ensures you will be supported, challenged and valued.

  • MIL-OSI United Kingdom: Buckinghamshire events director sentenced for Covid fraud

Source: United Kingdom – Government Statements

    Press release

Buckinghamshire events director sentenced for Covid fraud

Bounce Back Loan fraudster convicted following Insolvency Service investigations

    • William Blenkarn claimed he did not know he was not entitled to a second Bounce Back Loan for MJB Events Limited

    • Blenkarn obtained double the amount of Covid support his company was entitled to as a result of his fraudulent declaration

    • Money from the loan was then transferred to a new company Blenkarn had set up just weeks into the pandemic

The owner of two Buckinghamshire-based events companies has been handed a suspended sentence after receiving £100,000 in Covid support funds when he was only entitled to half that figure.

William Blenkarn secured two Bounce Back Loans worth £50,000 each for his MJB Events Limited company, breaking the rules of the scheme which specifically stated that businesses could only have a single loan.

The 48-year-old then transferred £41,000 from the company’s bank account to his second business – MJB Entertainment Group Ltd – which had only been set up weeks before his fraudulent application.

Blenkarn, formerly of London End, Beaconsfield, but now living in Spain, was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for 18 months, at Aylesbury Crown Court on Thursday 24 April.

He was also ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

David Snasdell, Chief Investigator at the Insolvency Service, said:

William Blenkarn’s company received double the amount of public money it deserved due to his false declaration when applying for a second Bounce Back Loan.

This was taxpayers’ money and Blenkarn made matters worse by moving a significant proportion of the loan over to his new company which had only been trading for a few months.

MJB Events was incorporated in January 2016 and was described as an events company. MJB Entertainment Group was set up in early April 2020.

Blenkarn told the Insolvency Service that MJB Entertainment Group was created to manage and book artists but developed into organising a range of charity events.

The company also described itself as providing additional services such as marquee design and wedding planning.

Blenkarn applied to two different banks for £50,000 Bounce Back Loans – the maximum allowed under the scheme – on behalf of MJB Events in May 2020.

For his second application, Blenkarn ticked the online declaration to certify that this was the only application made on behalf of the business.

Despite this, Blenkarn claimed he did not know that he could only apply for one loan for each company.

Two payments of £25,000 and £16,000 were then made to MJB Entertainment Group from the bank account belonging to MJB Events in July 2020.

These transactions left the MJB Events account overdrawn by around £25,000 at the time liquidators were appointed in June 2021, depriving creditors of the funds.

Blenkarn also breached his duties as a director by failing to deliver accounting records for MJB Events to the liquidator as he was required to do by law.

The Insolvency Service is seeking to recover the fraudulently obtained funds under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

How We Selected The Best Online Casino

Our selection of the best online casino for 2025 involved a rigorous, multi-faceted evaluation to ensure a safe, rewarding experience. Here’s a detailed breakdown of our methodology, which led us to crown 7Bit Casino as the top online casino:

    License and Security

A valid license is non-negotiable for trust. 7Bit Casino operates under a Curacao eGaming license, a respected authority ensuring compliance with fair play and player protection standards (Casino.org). We verified that 7Bit uses 128-bit SSL encryption to secure all data transactions, safeguarding personal and financial information.

Regular audits by independent bodies like eCOGRA confirm game fairness, with random number generators (RNGs) ensuring unbiased outcomes. We also assessed the casino’s privacy policies and data handling practices to ensure compliance with global standards, making 7Bit a secure, best real online casino.

    Bonuses and Promotions

Bonuses significantly enhance player value. 7Bit’s 325% welcome bonus up to 5.25 BTC + 250 free spins is among the industry’s most competitive, distributed as:

    • 1st Deposit: 100% match + 100 free spins.
    • 2nd Deposit: 75% match + 100 free spins.
    • 3rd Deposit: 50% match.
    • 4th Deposit: 100% match + 50 free spins. We compared this to industry averages (typically 100-200% bonuses) and found 7Bit’s offer superior in value and flexibility. Ongoing promotions, including Monday 25% reloads, Wednesday free spins (up to 100), and 20% weekend cashback, were evaluated for fairness, with a 40x wagering requirement deemed reasonable (Bitcoin Casino Kings). We also checked for transparency in terms and conditions to ensure no hidden clauses.

    Game Variety

A diverse game library is crucial for broad appeal. 7Bit Casino excels with over 10,000 games, covering slots, table games, live dealer options, and crypto-specific titles. We assessed the range across categories, ensuring options for casual players and high rollers. The inclusion of demo modes for risk-free play was a significant advantage, rare among top casinos online. We also evaluated game accessibility across devices, confirming seamless performance on desktops and mobiles.

    Game Providers

Quality depends on providers. 7Bit partners with industry leaders like NetEnt (known for Starburst), Microgaming (Mega Moolah), Betsoft (3D slots), and Evolution Gaming (live dealer excellence). These providers are renowned for high-quality graphics, innovative features, and certified fairness, ensuring a premium gaming experience. We verified that all games undergo regular testing for RNG integrity, reinforcing 7Bit’s status as a best-rated online casino.

    Banking Methods

Fast, secure payments are essential. 7Bit supports cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Tether, Ripple) with instant transactions, ideal for best online real money casino players. Fiat options include Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, and Neteller, with instant deposits and 1-3 day withdrawals. Bank transfers, while slower (3-5 days), cater to traditional players. We tested transaction speeds and confirmed no hidden fees, with minimums at $10 or 0.0005 BTC and a $4,000 withdrawal cap (Cryptovantage).

    Customer Support

Responsive support is a hallmark of excellence. 7Bit offers 24/7 live chat and email support (support@7bitcasino.com). Our tests showed response times under 2 minutes for live chat and within 24 hours for email. The comprehensive FAQ section addresses common queries, enhancing the user experience. We also assessed staff knowledge and friendliness, finding 7Bit’s team exceptional.

This thorough methodology confirms 7Bit Casino as the best online casino for 2025, excelling in all critical areas.

As a best casino online, 7Bit Casino prioritizes player safety with a robust suite of responsible gambling tools to prevent problematic behavior and promote healthy gaming habits.

    • Deposit Limits: Players can set daily, weekly, or monthly caps on deposits to manage spending. This tool helps budget-conscious players avoid overspending, ensuring gambling remains enjoyable.
    • Loss Limits: Loss limits restrict the amount players can lose over a set period (e.g., daily or weekly). Once reached, play is paused until the period resets, preventing chasing losses.

    • Session Time Limits: Players can limit playtime per session. When the limit is reached, they’re logged out, encouraging breaks and balancing gaming with other activities.
    • Cooling-Off Periods: Temporary account suspensions (24 hours to months) allow players to step back from gambling, ideal for those needing a break to reassess habits.
    • Reality Checks: Pop-up notifications alert players to their session duration (e.g., every 30 minutes), fostering awareness and prompting breaks to avoid excessive play.

These measures make 7Bit the best online casino for player welfare.

    • Earning CPs: Every real-money bet contributes to CPs, tracked in the player’s account. Slots typically earn CPs faster than table games due to higher house edges.
    • Level Benefits:
      • Levels 1-3: 10-50 free spins on select slots (e.g., Starburst).
      • Levels 4-6: $10-$50 cash bonuses with 30x wagering.

New community outreach van launched to engage with local communities

    Monday, 28 April 2025 – 1:47 pm.

Tasmania Police has launched a new community outreach van to help engage with local communities.Speaking at the launch in George Town today, Commissioner Donna Adams said that the initiative was a direct response to recommendations from the Weiss Review, Tasmania Police Community Survey and Commission of Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings, and aimed to proactively bring services and information to communities who need them or have traditionally had little or no opportunity to engage with Tasmania Police.“These recent reviews have told us that our community expects better, more visible, and in-person engagement between Tasmania Police and community members,” Commissioner Adams said.“The reviews have also told us we need to continue to build trust with vulnerable community groups and Tasmanian sport and recreation organisations for the purpose of preventing, identifying and reporting grooming, and child sexual abuse.“Together with partnering organisations like Neighbourhood Watch, PCYC, and Crime Stoppers, Poli and the team are available to visit communities and community groups around the state to achieve these outcomes.”“Poli will provide visibility in the communities where they need police most.“At a time where there is a greater than ever demand for frontline policing services, you can expect that Poli will provide an additional avenue for members of the community to discuss issues important to the community and that our partner organisations may be able to assist in providing advice and assistance.“Together we can ease the pressure by adopting new community-focused solutions that ensure community safety and efficiency.”Commissioner Adams said that the Community Engagement team will take Poli to Deloraine and Agfest over the coming days before undertaking engagements in the south, the east coast and the north west coast in the next few weeks.“It’s a way of taking our people and some of our services and information directly into communities to engage with Tasmanians. It allows us to have a high-visibility police presence in vulnerable and priority communities and those that have limited opportunity to engage with Tasmania Police for key services,” she said.Funding was provided by the Tasmanian Government to support Tasmania Police in engaging and building trust with the community.Poli is being staffed by members of the Community Engagement Services team, along with local officers who will attend local events, including schools, community and sporting events, and be on hand to:• discuss local crime issues and provide crime prevention and general advice to residents and business owners• provide information and resources about personal, residential and business safety, as well as child safety and safeguarding• customise Poli’s visit to the community/community group’s needs.Poli is also available to support other key Tasmania Police initiatives such as firearm amnesties and recruitment, as well as providing information on how to identify grooming, and keeping children and young people safe from sexual abuse.Commissioner Adams said that a broader Tasmania Police Stakeholder Engagement Strategy was currently being developed, which would outline a coordinated approach to community engagement across the state and action plans to deliver key initiatives over the three-year life of the strategy.“By continuing to work together as an organisation, I am certain that this outreach initiative will prove to be a significant and positive change in how we provide targeted and focused police services to the Tasmanian community now and into the future.”For more information, check out www.police.tas.gov.au/poli

  • MIL-OSI Australia: Dangerous synthetic opioids and animal sedatives found in Australian wastewater

    Source:

    28 April 2025

University of South Australia scientists have developed a highly sensitive method to detect illegal opioids and a veterinary sedative in Australia’s wastewater system, providing a vital early warning tool to public health authorities.

A new study published in Environmental Science and Pollution Research, funded by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission and Preventative Health SA, explains the innovative wastewater-based testing method capable of identifying trace levels of nitazenes – a class of highly potent synthetic opioids – and xylazine, an animal sedative not approved for human use.

Nitazenes are among the most dangerous opioids ever synthesised, up to 1000 times more potent than morphine. Initially developed in the 1950s but never approved for clinical use, these substances have recently emerged in the illicit drug supply worldwide. Their extreme potency poses a significant risk of overdose, often with fatal consequences.

Xylazine, commonly used in veterinary medicine, is often added to illicit opioids such as fentanyl and heroin. It complicates overdose treatment because its effects cannot be reversed with naloxone, the standard emergency antidote for opioid toxicity. Moreover, xylazine use is associated with severe health impacts including sedation, respiratory depression, hypotension, and dangerous skin ulcerations.

“This is the first time a comprehensive suite of nitazene compounds and xylazine has been monitored in Australian wastewater,” says lead researcher UniSA Associate Professor Cobus Gerber.

“Our method can detect even minute levels, allowing us to track emerging threats before they escalate,” he says.

Over a three-day period in August 2024, researchers analysed 180 wastewater samples from 60 sites around Australia. They identified five different nitazenes in 3–6% of all samples. Alarmingly, xylazine was detected in 26% of all samples.

“Given the potency of nitazenes and the health complications associated with xylazine, even low-level detections are a red flag,” says co-first author Dr Emma Keller.

The research team developed a laboratory method using solid phase extraction and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to concentrate and identify target compounds. The method achieved up to 1000-fold enrichment, with limits of detection well below 1 ng/L for most substances.

Crucially, the method is adaptable and can be quickly updated to detect new derivatives as they emerge – an essential capability as drug manufacturers continue to tweak chemical structures to evade legislation.

“This analytical platform enhances Australia’s capacity to monitor and respond to the shifting landscape of illicit drug use,” says Assoc Prof Gerber. “It complements forensic analysis and can provide near real-time data to inform public health strategies.”

The results underscore the growing presence of harmful and often unsuspected substances in street-level drugs. In the United States, xylazine has already been detected in over 80% of fentanyl-containing paraphernalia and is implicated in an increasing number of overdose deaths.

“With similar patterns now being detected in Australia and nitazenes also infiltrating the stimulant market, there’s an urgent need to raise awareness and strengthen harm reduction responses,” Assoc Prof Gerber says.

“Comprehensive method to detect nitazene analogues and xylazine in wastewater” is authored by Emma L. Keller, Brock Peake, Bradley S. Simpson, Jason M. White and Cobus Gerber.

  • MIL-OSI Global: Investigators are increasingly using technology in conflict-related sexual assault cases

Source: The Conversation – Canada – By Valerie Oosterveld, Professor, Faculty of Law, and Western Research Chair in International Criminal Justice, Western University

In the last two weeks of February, humanitarian agencies reported 895 cases of conflict-related rape as M23 rebels advanced through the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). According to a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees official, this was an average of more than 60 rapes a day.

    Read more:
M23’s capture of Goma is the latest chapter in eastern Congo’s long-running war

UNICEF officials reported similarly grim figures. Between Jan. 27 and Feb. 2, 2025, the number of rape cases treated across 42 health facilities in DRC jumped five-fold, with 30 per cent of these cases being children.

While immediate responses are needed to stop the violence, provide health care to the survivors and assist the displaced, the pursuit of justice also plays a critical role.

Investigative bodies, including the International Criminal Court (ICC), are increasingly using technology to investigate conflict-related sexual violence. In a recent research project, my team interviewed experts who specialize in conflict-related sexual violence investigations around the world. The research was supported by XCEPT, a conflict research program funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development.

    Investigating sexual violence

The ICC’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, visited DRC at the end of February and met with sexual violence survivors. The ICC has the mandate to investigate rape, sexual slavery and other gender-based violence amounting to genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. The office had reactivated investigations in October 2024.

Investigators start by speaking to survivors, following guidelines such as the 2023 Policy on Gender-Based Crimes or the Global Code of Conduct for Gathering and Using Information About Systematic and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence. The Global Code of Conduct is known as the Murad Code after Nobel Peace Prize recipient and advocate Nadia Murad.

In our research, we found that survivors of conflict-related sexual violence are connecting with investigators through various technologies, such as directly using encrypted apps like Signal. Survivors also go through civil society organizations equipped to take video or electronic statements — Yazda, for example, which works with Yazidi survivors of ISIS crimes in northern Iraq — or via portals like the ICC’s OTPLink. The UN’s Commissions of Inquiry also encourage and receive email submissions.

International courts and investigative bodies are also analyzing open-source information on conflict-related sexual violence, such as videos, photos and statements posted on online platforms. Guided by the Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations, this information can be useful to support witness statements, place alleged perpetrators at the scene of the violations and link incidents into a pattern of similar violence.

For example, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria described how ISIS used the encrypted app Telegram and other online platforms to buy and sell captured Yazidi women and girls across the Iraq-Syria border to sustain its sabaya (sexual slavery) system.

In Ukraine, our study found that the main technology-related concern in open-source data gathering is identifying AI-created and other artificially generated images, specifically designed and planted in the public domain as a form of disinformation or to compromise investigations.

    Face and voice recognition

Conflict-related sexual violence is often perpetrated indoors which makes certain technologies like satellite or drone imagery less useful. However, other forms of technology have proven to be beneficial in Ukraine’s investigations. In particular, face and voice recognition software have supported efforts to identify alleged perpetrators.

While Ukraine’s experience points to some successes, investigations into sexual violence committed by ISIS in northern Iraq have been hampered. This is partly due to the lack of automated translation software in the Yazidi language to facilitate the transcription and translation of testimonies.

This speaks to the importance of developing software to translate minority languages spoken in armed conflict zones.

    Survivor concerns

Survivors have expressed concerns about the turn to the digital. They fear that their identities and experiences may be revealed through hacking or poor data handling, which could put them at risk of reprisals from perpetrators or their accomplices. It could also lead to stigmatization and ostracization in some communities, undoing survivors’ efforts to rebuild their lives.

To address these concerns, international courts and investigative bodies have adopted data protection protocols. However, the lack of a standardized framework for the use of technology in the investigation of conflict-related sexual violence remains a significant concern for the investigators we interviewed.

Such a framework would incorporate best practices in supporting survivors providing evidence, tracking and preserving open source information and developing new technological applications.

If there is to be justice for survivors of conflict-related rape in DRC and elsewhere, technology — provided it is used with great sensitivity — will likely be an important and timely aid.

Valerie Oosterveld received funding for this research from the UK’s Cross-Border Conflict Evidence, Policy, and Trends (XCEPT) research programme.

  • MIL-OSI New Zealand: Operation Kereru – Police disrupt further anti-social road activity

Source: New Zealand Police (National News)

Police have prevented anti-social road user activity in the Wellington region for a second night running.

Anti-social road users began gathering in Porirua last night but were met by a large Police presence and checkpoints.

In similar fashion to the previous night in Wairarapa, Police staff were able to set up checkpoints and establish a presence before any vehicles could gather, dispersing crowds nearly immediately.

Inspector Simon de Wit says the Police response over the weekend has successfully deterred any anti-social behaviour on our roads.

“We hear the public loud and clear when it comes to these groups. The damage they cause to the roads and noise through all hours of the night is not something we will tolerate.”

Police issued over 30 infringements last night, as well as 10 non-operational orders.

Five vehicles were seized by bailiffs and approximately $1600 worth of outstanding fines were recovered.

One driver was recorded over the legal alcohol limit.

“We will continue to take a zero-tolerance approach to anti-social road user activity. Anybody engaging in unlawful activity can expect enforcement action to be taken. If we are unable to at the time, we will be sure to follow up with you.”

Police also want to issue a reminder to members of the public to report any unlawful activity to us, as soon as possible with as much information as safely possible.

This will assist in an effective response, and in cases where we can’t respond immediately, we are able to follow up with drivers and take later enforcement action.

You can report any information to us by calling 111 if it is happening now, or via 105 if it is after the fact, either over the phone or online.

  • MIL-OSI New Zealand: Operation Kereru – infringements issued, vehicles seized in Wairarapa

Source: New Zealand Police (District News)

Wairarapa Police have put the brakes on an anti-social road user event in the Wairarapa overnight, issuing infringements and seizing vehicles.

Operation Kereru saw an increased Police presence in the Wairarapa region, taking a zero-tolerance approach to unlawful road user activity.

In the Wairarapa, Police were able to set up necessary checkpoints to disrupt behaviour before it started.

Over 50 infringements were issued, and on top of these, ten non-operational orders were served. Two vehicles were seized by Bailiffs, and one was impounded.

Wairarapa Area Commander, Inspector Nick Thom says the work of Police staff to get in early to disrupt the planned activity saw a pleasing result.

“As a result of the fantastic work by staff, the vehicles that had gathered were intercepted and had left the area before they were able to get started, all before midnight.”

Two people were recorded over the legal alcohol limit and have been summoned to court, as has a man who was arrested for driving while suspended.

Wairarapa Police continue to work with staff around the Wellington region to disrupt any anti-social behaviour and want to reassure the community that those participating in unlawful activity will be held to account.

Police are reminding members of the public to report any unlawful activity to us, as soon as possible with as much information as safely possible.

This will assist in an effective response, and in cases where we can’t respond immediately, we are able to follow up with drivers and take later enforcement action.

You can report any information to us by calling 111 if it is happening now, or via 105 if it is after the fact, either over the phone or online.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

  • MIL-OSI Economics: Identity fraud: BaFin warns consumers about “Everix Edge

Source: Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht – In English

The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) warns consumers about “Everix Edge” and the services it is offering. BaFin suspects the unknown operators, who are currently contacting consumers via email, of offering consumers financial, investment and cryptoasset services without the required authorisation.

The unknown operators claim that their offer is from Baden-Württembergische Wertpapierbörse GmbH or Boerse Stuttgart Digital Custody GmbH. However, none of this information is correct. This is a case of identity fraud.

BaFin is issuing this warning on the basis of section 37 (4) of the German Banking Act (Kreditwesengesetz – KWG) and section 10 (7) of the German Cryptomarkets Supervision Act (Kryptomärkteaufsichtsgesetz).

    Please be aware:

BaFin, the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BundeskriminalamtBKA) and the German state criminal police offices (Landeskriminalämter) recommend that consumers seeking to invest money online should exercise the utmost caution and do the necessary research beforehand in order to identify fraud attempts at an early stage.
