  • MIL-OSI Security: FORMER EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE RESIDENT SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR CHILD PORN CRIMES

    PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – Daniel R. McCaffrey, 41, formerly of Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for the transportation of child pornography, possession of child pornography, and abusive sexual contact with a minor female who had not yet reached 12 years of age. The sentence was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

    U.S. Attorney Heekin said: “There is no penalty severe enough for those who harm our children, and my office will continue to aggressively pursue maximum punishment for these types of crimes.  This disgusting defendant not only victimized children online, he also sexually abused a child he had access to on Eglin Air Force Base. The substantial sentence that has been imposed reflects the severity of his crimes, but it cannot make up for the grave harm he has inflicted upon the most vulnerable members of our community. I am deeply appreciative of the incredible work of the agents and investigators with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations to bring this heinous criminal to justice.”

    A jury found McCaffrey guilty of these charges after a federal trial.  Trial records reveal the defendant maintained a child pornography collection on a hidden micro SD card in his residence, where he lived with his then wife and two minor daughters.  McCaffrey’s wife was active duty United States Air Force at the time.  Multiple witnesses testified about the victimization McCaffrey personally inflicted upon the minor female to whom he had access. The child pornography he possessed reflected his penchant for minor females under the age of 12 years old.

    “The FBI is committed to protecting the most vulnerable individuals in our communities, and especially our kids,” said FBI Jacksonville Special Agent in Charge Jason Carley. “Those who abuse innocent children should know that the FBI and our partners will never stop working to identify you, and we will coordinate the full force of our resources to seek justice for your victims.”

    McCaffrey’s sentence of imprisonment will be followed by a lifetime term of supervised release and a requirement to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.  

    The case involved a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Office of Special Investigations of the United States Air Force.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys David L. Goldberg and Jessica S. Etherton.

    This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice and led by the U.S. Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Divisions Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), it marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.     Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Friday evening, on a two-day visit of his five-nation tour, that aims to reinforce India’s engagements with the Global South and focus on strengthening ties with the South American country. He was accorded a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival at the Ezeiza International Airport.

    This is the first bilateral visit to the South American country by an Indian Prime Minister in 57 years, and is thus historic.

    “Landed in Buenos Aires for a bilateral visit which will focus on augmenting relations with Argentina. I’m eager to be meeting President Javier Milei and holding detailed talks with him,” PM Modi wrote in a post on his official X account.

    While Prime Minister Modi has previously been to Argentina in 2018 to attend the G20 Summit.

    In his departure statement before embarking on the ongoing five-nation visit, the Prime Minister had called Argentina – a key economic partner in Latin America and a close collaborator in G20.

    The two countries share cohesive and strong relations spread across a wide spectrum of sectors and deepened over decades.

    The ties were elevated to the level of Strategic Partnership in 2019 and the two countries celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2024.

    As per the programme, Prime Minister Modi will be paying respects at the statue of General Jose de San Martin, Argentina’s revered freedom fighter and national hero.

    Closing this gap is not optional. There were 189 million fewer women than men online in 2024.  

    The disparity is about more than access, it reflects deeper systemic barriers, according to ​Doreen Bogdan-Martin who heads the UN telecommunications agency, ITU.

    “That’s too many missed opportunities to learn, to earn and to shape our shared digital future,” she said in a message for Thursday’s International Girls in ICT Day.

    She underscored that connectivity alone is not enough to ensure true digital transformation.

    “It must be meaningful – being able to afford digital devices and services, having the skills to use technology and feeling safe in online spaces. Everyone deserves the chance to thrive in an increasingly digital world.”

    2025 Theme

    Celebrated annually on the fourth Thursday of April, Girls in ICT Day encourages girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

    Since its launch in 2011, more than 417,000 girls and young women have participated in over 11,500 celebrations across 175 countries.

    This year’s theme is Girls in ICT for inclusive digital transformation. The ITU is calling for more investment in girls’ digital education and expansion of access to technology.  

    More young women need to become creators – not just consumers in the digital world, the agency argues.

    “Whether you are an entrepreneur, launching an AI startup, a teacher incorporating digital skills into your classroom or a policymaker shaping our shared digital future, you can help ensure every woman and girl has the chance to connect, create and lead in digital spaces,” Ms. Bogdan-Martin emphasised.

    Global observance

    The 2025 global observance will be co-hosted this year by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Eurasia together with States from the Arab region, featuring a live-streamed hybrid event linking Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and Nouakchott, Mauritania.

    The programme includes an intergenerational dialogue bringing together girls, women leaders, and ICT experts to discuss practical strategies for closing the gender gap.

    Visitors can explore the UN’s 80-year history of advancing peace, human rights, sustainable development and climate action and see how the work of the UN system impacts the lives of all people across the world.

    What are the different sections of the pavilion and what they’re trying to achieve?

    We have four exhibit zones. The first zone portrays 80 years of UN history, highlighting key milestones from 1945 until today. It also shows the changing relationship between Japan and the UN.

    In the 1940s following the devastation of the Second World War Japan was a recipient of UN assistance. But after Japan joined the UN (in 1956) it gradually started to take leadership in different areas, for example in climate change issues, disaster risk reduction and in the provision of Universal Health Coverage.

    Zone two shows the work of diverse UN entities. Visitors will notice that there are many everyday objects on the wall; a toilet, helmet, car seat, post box but they may not realize that these items are actually closely related to the work of the UN.

    By tapping on the monitor, the items light up and an explanation is given about its relationship to the work of the UN.

    One of the aims of this zone is to demonstrate that the UN is not just about conflict resolution. In Japan, when the UN is mentioned, many people think about the Security Council and ask why Japan isn’t a permanent member. 

    We wanted to show in an interesting interactive way that the UN’s work is so much more than that.

    In zone three, which represents the future, we show through an immersive movie, a vision of the sustainable future that we can achieve if we work together. In the movie, the UN Secretary-General says that this future is not automatic, but it is one that we can achieve together.

    The final part of the pavilion is the special exhibition zone that features the work of different UN entities each week. 

    Why is it important that the UN is here at Expo? 

    I would say that 90 per cent of Japanese people know about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but many do not know what they can do in their lives to contribute to the SDGs, or understand the positive role played by the UN in making the SDGs a reality in a global context. So, we felt that it was important to explain that work.

    There are some 160 different countries participating in Expo and they are here to showcase their own cultures.

    But it’s the UN which can encourage countries to work together to achieve peace and a sustainable world. So, collaboration and multilateralism are key themes of the pavilion.

    Why is that message important? 

    The world is divided right now and you can sense the anxiety about that, even in Japan. That anxiety is not just focused on political issues but also on the environmental and other global challenges which go beyond the country level. At the UN Pavilion they can learn about these challenges but also the solutions.

    I am so proud to be part of a team which explains how the UN is contributing to solving these global problems. It is rewarding to interact with visitors and to support their understanding of the UN.

    Many are surprised by the range of work in which the organization is engaged, and everyone leaves inspired by our messages.

    What is the most surprising reaction you’ve had from a visitor?

    There has been great interest and engagement in the immersive video which envisions a hopeful future that all humanity can enjoy if we work together. It has a very simple message about collaboration which can be easily understood by people of all ages and backgrounds.

    Many people have been deeply affected by its message and I have seen some moved to tears.

    I believe visitors feel closer to the UN after experiencing the video and the rest of the pavilion. I am from Japan and I think many people are surprised to meet a Japanese national working for the UN. That also helps to bring them closer to the work of the UN.

    How important and relevant is an Expo in today’s world?

    There really isn’t any other place like this, where you can meet people from Uzbekistan, and then next door people from Malta. I think this is such a rare opportunity, especially in this era of the Internet, to be able to discover the culture and values of so many different nations.

    Initially, the Japanese people were somewhat sceptical and critical of the cost of putting on Expo, because they said they could find all the information on the Internet.

    However, when they visit, they realize that they can actually see, feel and learn about different cultures in person. It’s very different from reading something on the Internet or watching YouTube.

    This venue is so special and people come here with an open and enquiring mind.

    I think the timing of this Expo is important as there is so much uncertainty and conflict in the world. At the UN, we are here to promote a better world for all people built on equality, dignity and peace, living in harmony with nature and sustaining our Planet. We hope to share this positive vision with as many visitors as possible until the closing of the Expo in mid-October.

    Federal investment of up to $105 million will connect more than 6,500 homes

    Reliable and affordable high-speed Internet is essential for all Canadians. It enables access to important online resources, connects friends and families, and drives economic growth and innovation.

    Today, the Honourable Buckley Belanger, Secretary of State (Rural Development), announced up to $105 million in federal funding for three high-speed Internet projects being delivered by Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel). These projects will bring high-speed Internet access to 6,522 households in 35 rural and remote communities across central and northern Saskatchewan, including over 4,800 Indigenous households.

    The Government of Canada’s investment is provided through the Universal Broadband Fund, a program designed to ensure that Canadians in rural, remote and Indigenous communities have access to reliable high-speed Internet.

    The government remains on track to meet its goal of providing high-speed Internet to 98% of Canadian households by 2026, and 100% by 2030. With these investments, the government is helping to create new opportunities for rural and remote communities—ensuring that all Canadians, no matter where they live, can fully participate in the digital economy and benefit from everything Canada has to offer.

    Intruders caused major criminal damage when they broke into Green Park and Stowlawn Primary schools at around 8.30pm yesterday (Thursday 3 July, 2025) before being disturbed by a caretaker and fleeing the scene.

    Damage at the schools included to external and internal doors, fire doors, toilets and interactive whiteboards that were smashed, while iPads and ICT equipment were destroyed, and fire extinguishers were discharged.

    A mobile swimming pool was also damaged and changing rooms ransacked, and attempts were made to start fires inside the building.

    Council officers have been onsite overnight with police and school staff to assess the damage, estimated at over £100,000. Thorough police investigations are now underway as officers work to identify those responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wolverhampton Police on 101, quoting crime reference 20/296969/25.

    Parents and carers were notified of the incident this morning and told that both schools were closed today (Friday). It is hoped the schools will be able to reopen as soon as possible.

    The leader of the council, Councillor Stephen Simkins, branded the acts of vandalism as “disgusting” and called for the prosecution of the “idiotic” vandals involved.

    He said: “We are absolutely appalled by this disgusting act of mindless vandalism. Those who have committed this crime need to be caught and prosecuted to the full power of the law. These idiotic vandals are a blight on our communities and we will not tolerate them.

    “We are working closely with police to find out what happened and make those responsible are held accountable.

    “Together, we must stand against this kind of senseless behaviour and reaffirm our commitment to protecting our schools and the children and young people who depend on them.

    Councillor Jacqui Coogan, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, added: “We strongly condemn this disgusting and mindless act of vandalism which has caused so much upset and disruption for staff, children and families at both Green Park and Stowlawn Primary schools. 

    “Early estimates suggest the vandalism has caused upwards of £100,000 worth of damage, with fittings, furniture and equipment needing to be removed and replaced. This is money that the schools, the council and the city’s taxpayers can ill afford. 

    “Officers are working hard to assess the extent of the damage, and the work that must take place to enable the schools to reopen to children and staff as quickly as possible. 

    “I would urge anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity near either school or who has any information that could assist the investigation to come forward. Your voice could make a vital difference.”  

    Green Park headteacher Lorraine Downey said: “We would like to thank drivers, passenger assistants, cleaners, from across the city, led by the council’s Head of School Business and Support, Bill Hague, and also our own staff members, who have volunteered their time this morning to help the clear up.

    “Also, our heartfelt thanks goes to our brave community caretaker, who intercepted the intruders.”

    Stowlawn Primary headteacher Kate Charles said: “We are absolutely devastated that someone would choose to target our schools like this for no reason. The impact over the past few hours for the staff, children and our families has been immense.

    “However, the local authority support has been amazing, as have the police, and we have received so many messages of support from our amazing families and local community.

    “Luckily the damage is repairable and we are working to welcome our children back to school as soon as we can.”

The announcement was made by Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla, Master General Sustenance of the Indian Army, during the “New Age Military Technologies: Industry Capabilities & Way Forward” conference organised by FICCI.

    Outlining the Army’s ambitious vision, Lt Gen Aujla called for unprecedented collaboration between the military, industry, and policymakers to accelerate self-reliance and innovation in defence technology.

    At the core of the Army’s modernisation drive is the development of ultra-fast and highly manoeuvrable weapon systems, including hypersonic glide vehicles, hypersonic air-breathing engines (HEBs), and advanced fourth, fifth, and sixth-generation missiles.

    “We want to change the deterrence equation by ultra-fast and highly manoeuvrable weapon systems,” Lt Gen Aujla stated, emphasising the need to transition from conventional “dump category” ammunition to smart, precision-guided munitions.

    The Army also plans to invest heavily in loitering munitions and PGMs to enhance strike capabilities while minimising collateral damage.

    In addition, the service is advancing efforts in directed energy weapons, such as high-energy lasers and microwave systems, for counter-drone operations, missile defence, and anti-satellite capabilities.

    Recognising the evolving dimensions of warfare, the Army is placing strong emphasis on cyber and electronic warfare capabilities, aiming for spectrum dominance and both offensive and defensive cyber operations. The force is seeking industry partnerships to develop next-generation cyber defence tools, autonomous EW solutions, and resilient satellite systems.

    Another critical focus area is soldier-centric modernisation. The Army plans to equip soldiers with exoskeletons, human augmentation systems, smart body armour, and augmented reality-based battlefield management systems.

    Ms Ho attended a business luncheon co-organised by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Office under the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels to promote the vast opportunities for Portuguese companies arising from the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and how Hong Kong can play its important roles as a “super connector” and “super value-adder” between the two places with its unique advantages of having the strong support of the motherland while maintaining unparalleled connectivity with the world.     Earlier in the day, Ms Ho visited EntreCampos, a local redevelopment project jointly developed by the public and private sectors, comprising social housing for middle-class residents, offices, retail, community facilities and green spaces. The project adopted Building Information Modelling (BIM) during construction. She also visited the new headquarters of an insurance company in the project. The building employs smart technologies and innovative sustainable energy systems to enhance energy efficiency. Ms Ho stated that the HKHA has strived to promote greener and more energy-efficient designs, aiming to attain a “gold” rating or above under BEAM Plus for all new housing developments. The measures include adopting MiC in construction with modules manufactured accurately and effectively in factories, and other innovative technologies such as BIM to facilitate planning throughout the construction process and enhance management, which can save energy, reduce waste and make the construction process more environmentally friendly. To improve energy efficiency, the HKHA has also implemented various green initiatives such as smart lighting control systems, light emitting diode lighting and solar photovoltaic systems. In estate management, the application of the Internet of Things and AI for collecting and analysing data has also enhanced estate management quality and efficiency.     Dennis Maga, Workers First Union General Secretary, said that the Uber case, which had first been won by drivers in 2022, was the most significant employment case in recent New Zealand history and would have major ramifications for contractors and the ‘gig economy’.
    “The Employment Court and the Court of Appeal have already ruled that Uber drivers should be entitled to real employment protections like a minimum wage, sick leave, and the right to bargain collectively with Uber over wages and conditions as they already have to do in many overseas jurisdictions,” said Mr Maga.

    BEIJING, July 3 — This year’s World Internet Conference (WIC) Digital Silk Road Development Forum will be held on July 24 in the city of Quanzhou, east China’s Fujian Province, according to a WIC press conference on Thursday.

    s summer break begins for millions of school-aged children across New York State, Governor Kathy Hochul today urged parents, guardians and caregivers to take steps to educate themselves on how to keep children safe online. Today’s children and teens are more digitally immersed than ever before. This is a generation that has grown up with continuous access to technology. While technology offers significant benefits with increased productivity and better access to information, there can also be a dark side. The dark side of technology introduces the potential for technology addiction, social isolation, cyberbullying, and exposure to inappropriate content. That’s why it’s important for parents to have the resources to safeguard their children’s online activities in this digital age.

    “Summer is officially here, and we want New York families to make the most of it — not get lost in endless scrolling,” Governor Hochul said. “I’m urging parents to have real conversations with their kids about the risks of excessive screen time, and to help them recognize when it’s time to put the devices down, get outside and build memories with friends and family.”

    The campaign builds on the governor’s efforts to promote healthy living among young people and families, and protect kids online.     As technology advances, unchecked AI-enabled technology is creating new risks, from AI chatbots that simulate personal relationships to deepfake apps that produce explicit images of minors. This year, Governor Hochul established first-in-the-nation safeguards for AI companions — chatbots designed to simulate human relationships with users, like being an AI friend or romantic partner. AI companion operators in New York will now be required to implement a safety protocol if a user talks about self harm, like referring users to a crisis hotline, and interrupt users engaging for sustained periods with these systems. To address the horrifying rise of AI-enabled “undressing” applications and websites, Governor Hochul also secured an update to State penal law to treat AI-generated child sexual abuse material as what it is child pornography.

    The following tips will help parents protect and support their children while online:

    HAVE OPEN CONVERSATIONS

    Create a safe space for kids and teens to talk about what they see online or in social media: Talk early and often about the content and information they may come across online. Share examples and discuss potential digital dilemmas they routinely face in their connected lives. Teach your children to think critically about online content and challenges.

    Encourage questions: Create an environment where they feel comfortable asking questions without fear of judgement. Ask questions that reflect examples and situations they may encounter online. For example:

    • What do they think about viral challenges?
    • How do they decide whether something is real or fake online?
    • How do they decide whether something is wise or foolish?

    Encourage conversations related to online behavior and the impact on their reputation and future: Teens may post content that can damage their online reputation or future opportunities. Talk to your children about the importance of protecting their digital footprint, being mindful of their online activities and maintaining a positive online reputation. It is virtually impossible to totally remove content once it is uploaded to the internet, so it’s crucial to understand the risks. Social platforms track data, followers judge what’s posted, and any content shared online can be copied, shared or misused. Even if it’s intended to be private, any photo, post or comment could be seen by a future employer or during a digital background check. Emphasize the importance of thinking carefully before posting and the permanence of what is put online.

    Encourage conversations related to navigating social media pressures: Teens may get exposure to harmful and inappropriate content including unrealistic body standards, unfair comparisons and cyberbullying and feel the need to present a perfect image online. Focusing on building your children’s self-esteem and confidence offline can help them navigate the pressures of social media.

    Warn your children about the realities of social media and the dangers of social media “challenges”: Talk to them about the various types of challenges they may encounter online including dangerous stunts, harmful behaviors and embarrassing tasks.

    Talk to your children about the dangers they may encounter online: The FBI has reported an increase in the number of cases involving children and teens being threatened and coerced to send explicit images online. To thwart sextortion scams, talk to your children and teens about online safety and the risks of online luring. A common entry point to many sextortion incidents is through social media apps like Instagram or Snapchat, so remind them that pictures or videos can be saved by others and used later for blackmailing.     SET SAFE AND HEALTHY ONLINE LIMITS:

    Set parental guidance: Keep an eye on your child’s online activities, set age-appropriate boundaries and create rules.

    Activate parental controls: Parental controls can be used to manage screen time, block inappropriate content, prevent accidental spending and keep strangers away.     Check Privacy Settings: Familiarize yourself with your children’s devices’ privacy settings on all their online platforms and consider limiting who has access to their personal information, contact lists and location.   • MIL-OSI Security: Farmington Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

    CONCORD – A Farmington man pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court to the possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack announces.

    Michael F.J. Murphy, age 45, pleaded guilty in federal court in Concord to one count of possession of child pornography.  U.S. District Court Judge Paul Barbadoro scheduled Murphy’s sentencing for October 14, 2025.

    According to the charging documents and statements made in court, in December 2023, the defendant shared a video depicting CSAM with law enforcement using a file-sharing platform.

    The charging statute provides for a sentence of up to 10 years of imprisonment, but if any image of child pornography involved in the offense involved a prepubescent minor or a minor who had not attained 12 years of age, the maximum penalty is increased to 20 years of imprisonment. The statute provides for a supervised release term of not less than 5 years and up to life, and a maximum fine of $250,000. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutes which govern the determination of a sentence in a criminal case.

    The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Idaho Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit led the investigation. The New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the United Kingdom South East Regional Crime Unit, and the Farmington Police Department provided valuable assistance. Assistant U.S Attorney Charles L. Rombeau is prosecuting the case.

    This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.   • MIL-OSI Security: United States Seeks Recovery of $40,300 in Cryptoscheme That Impersonated Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee

                WASHINGTON – U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced today that her office filed a complaint against 40,353 USDT.ETH cryptocurrency stolen in the commission of a  Business Email Compromise Scheme.

                According to the complaint, one or more perpetrators impersonated the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, fraudulently stole $250,300 worth of crypocurrency from an intended donor, and then laundered the funds through other wallets. The FBI was able to trace and recover $40,300 from this transaction. The complaint seeks recovery of these funds to compensate the victim.

                “All donors should double and triple check that they are sending cryptocurrency to their intended recipient. It can be extremely difficult for law enforcmeent to recoup lost funds due to the extremely complex nature of the blockchain,” said U.S. Attoney Pirro. “Nevertheless, my office and our law enforcement partners stand ready to go toe-to-toe with criminals and make victims whole.”

                “Impersonation scams take many forms and cost Americans billions in losses each year,” said Assistant Director in Charge Steven J. Jensen, of the FBI Washington Field Office, which is investigating the case. “To avoid becoming a victim, carefully review email addresses, website URLs, and spelling in any messages you receive. Scammers often use subtle differences to deceive you and gain your trust. Never send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or other assets to people you do not know personally or have only interacted with online or over the phone. Report suspected scams to the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.”

                According to the complaint, on Dec. 24, 2024, the victims received an email from someone purporting to be Steve Witkoff, Co-Chair of the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee. Legitimate emails from the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee are @t47inaugural.com;  the email received by victim was from @t47lnaugural.com with the lowercase “I” was replaced by a lowercase “L.” Depending on the font, the lowercase “L” can look like the uppercase “I.”

                The imposter Steve Witkoff, a scammer located in Nigeria, instructed the victims to deposit funds into a cryptocurrency wallet ending in 58c52. On Dec. 26, 2024, the victim sent 250,300 USDT.ETH to the crypto wallet believing the funds were going to the Inaugural Committee. Within two hours after receiving the funds from the victim, the funds moved from the 58c52 cryptowallet to other cryptocurrency addresses. Through blockchain analysis, the FBI identified and recovered 40,300 USDT.ETH, which is the property subject to forfeiture in this civil action.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City, Missouri man was sentenced in federal court yesterday for engaging in illicit sex to produce child pornography with a 13-year-old minor victim.

    Talib Bwana Muhammad, 27, was sentenced to 210 months imprisonment by U.S. District Judge D. Gregory Kays for one count of producing child pornography.

    Muhammad previously pled guilty to the count of producing child pornography on Jan. 3, 2025. According to the written plea agreement, Muhammad produced child pornography with the minor victim in June 2023, after meeting the child victim on a social media application.  Muhammad communicated online with the minor victim and purchased an airline ticket for the child to fly from Texas to Kansas City, Missouri to meet and engage in sexual activity.  However, when the minor victim was unable to leave home, Muhammad drove to Texas from Missouri to pick them up.

    Law enforcement officials were notified when the child victim was missing, and an Amber Alert was issued. Investigators traced her to Muhammad’s residence in the Western District of Missouri.

    Muhammad engaged in sexual contact with the minor victim, and video recorded and photographed the sexual activity with a cell phone.

    This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Maureen A. Brackett.  It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Hitchcock, Texas, Police Department, and the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department.

    Muhammad will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison and will be subject to federal and state sex offender registration requirements, which may apply throughout his life.

  • MIL-OSI Security: Child Pornography Distribution Results in Prison Term

    A man who distributed child pornography was sentenced June 30, 2025, to nine years in federal prison.

    Christopher Charles Smith, age 34, from Asbury, Iowa, received the prison term after a January 3, 2025, guilty plea to distributing child pornography.

    At the guilty plea, Smith admitted he used a messaging service to communicate with others and trade child pornography.  In October of 2022, Smith distributed three videos of child pornography to an undercover law enforcement officer.

    Smith was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams.  Smith was sentenced to 108 months’ imprisonment and an 8-year term of supervised release after the prison term.  There is no parole in the federal system.

  • MIL-OSI Security: Billings Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges

    BILLINGS – A Billings man accused of distributing child pornography admitted to charges today, U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme said.

    The defendant, Kole David Kuntz, 41, pleaded guilty to 2 counts of distribution of child pornography. With respect to each count, Kuntz faces a mandatory minimum of 5 years to 20 years of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a $35,000 special assessment, a $5,000 special assessment, and 5 years to a lifetime of supervised release.

    U.S. Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Cavan presided. U.S. District Court Judge Susan P. Watters will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Sentencing will be set at a later date. Kuntz was released on conditions pending further proceedings.

    The government alleged in court documents that on November 16, 2024, law enforcement created an undercover online persona on a social media site posing as an adult male with a minor daughter. Soon after establishing the account, another account, later attributed to the defendant, reached out and inquired about the fictious daughter.

    The conversations became increasingly sexual and, for example, when the defendant learned the “daughter” was 12 years of age, he indicated that he “could have a lot of fun with her.”

    On November 21, 2024, the defendant recommended they switch to a more secure application and both parties did so. Then, to ensure that he was “serious,” the defendant sent a roughly 45-second video of a female, aged between 12 and 14 years of age, removing her swimsuit and exposing her vagina to the camera. Then, on November 22, 2024, and after additional communications during which the defendant indicated that “6-14 is the money range I think,” he distributed a roughly 56-second video of a minor female performing oral sex on an adult.

    Law enforcement connected the communication to the defendant and a search warrant for his residence in Billings was executed. A subsequent review of his electronic media led to the discovery of the communications referenced above.

    The defendant was interviewed by law enforcement and admitted that he was the individual referenced in the communications above and that he previously shared images and videos.

    Assistant U.S. Attorney Zeno Baucus prosecuted the case. The FBI conducted the investigation.

    ATLANTA – Four North Korean nationals, Kim Kwang Jin (김관진), Kang Tae Bok (강태복), Jong Pong Ju (정봉주), and Chang Nam Il (창남일), have been charged in a five-count wire fraud and money laundering indictment arising from a scheme to be hired as remote IT workers and then steal and launder over $900,000 in virtual currency.

    “The defendants used fake and stolen personal identities to conceal their North Korean nationality, pose as remote IT workers, and exploit their victims’ trust to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars,” said U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg. “This indictment highlights the unique threat North Korea poses to companies that hire remote IT workers and underscores our resolve to prosecute any actor, in the United States or abroad, who steals from Georgia businesses.”

    “These schemes target and steal from U.S. companies and are designed to evade sanctions and fund the North Korean regime’s illicit programs, including its weapons programs,” said John A. Eisenberg, Assistant Attorney General for the Department’s National Security Division. “The Justice Department, along with our law enforcement, private sector, and international partners, will persistently pursue and dismantle these cyber-enabled revenue generation networks.”

    “North Korean operatives used false identities to infiltrate companies and steal digital assets to fund their regime,” said Paul Brown, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta. “The FBI is committed to exposing these threats and protecting U.S. businesses from nation-state cybercrime.”

    According to U.S. Attorney Hertzberg, the indictment, and other information presented in court: To generate revenue for the regime, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (“North Korea” or “DPRK”) dispatches thousands of skilled IT workers around the world to deceive and infiltrate American companies. In October 2019, the defendants traveled to the United Arab Emirates on North Korean documents and worked there as a team. In approximately December 2020 and May 2021, respectively, Kim Kwang Jin (using victim P.S.’s stolen identity) and Jong Pong Ju (using the alias “Bryan Cho”) were hired as developers by an Atlanta, Georgia-based blockchain research and development company and a Serbian virtual token company. Both defendants concealed their North Korean identities from their employers by providing false identification documents containing a mix of stolen and fraudulent identity information. Neither company would have hired Kim Kwang Jin or Jong Pong Ju had it known the defendants were North Korean citizens. Later, on a recommendation from Jong Pong Ju, the Serbian company hired “Peter Xiao,” who in fact was Chang Nam Il.

    After gaining their employers’ trust, Kim Kwang Jin and Jong Pong Ju were assigned projects that provided them access to their employers’ virtual currency assets. In February 2022, Jong Pong Ju used that access to steal virtual currency then worth approximately $175,000. In March 2022, Kim Kwang Jin stole virtual currency then worth approximately $740,000 by modifying the source code of two of his employer’s smart contracts.

    To launder the funds after the thefts, Kim Kwang Jin and Jong Pong Ju used a virtual currency mixer and then transferred the funds to virtual currency exchange accounts controlled by defendants Kang Tae Bok and Chang Nam Il but held in the names of aliases.  The accounts were opened using fraudulent Malaysian identification documents.

    Kim Kwang Jin (김관진), Kang Tae Bok (강태복), Jong Pong Ju (정봉주), and Chang Nam Il (창남일) were indicted by a federal grand jury seated in the Northern District of Georgia on June 24, 2025.

    Members of the public are reminded that the indictment only contains charges.  The defendants are presumed innocent of the charges, and the government bears the burden to prove the defendants’ guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.

    This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is part of the Department of Justice’s DPRK RevGen: Domestic Enabler Initiative. Under the Initiative, launched by the National Security Division and FBI Cyber and Counterintelligence Divisions in March 2024, federal prosecutors and agents prioritize high-impact, strategic, and unified enforcement and disruption operations targeting the DPRK’s illicit revenue generation efforts and the U.S.-based enablers of those efforts.

  • MIL-OSI Security: Serial Bank Robber Sentenced to Over 10 Years in Prison

    ATLANTA – Khyri Deandre Brown, 28, of Dallas, Ga., has been sentenced for robbing a bank, attempting to rob three additional banks, and brandishing a firearm during a November 2023 crime spree.

    “Brown repeatedly threatened the lives of bank employees and customers by robbing or attempting to rob banks at gunpoint,” said U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg. “This case exemplifies how law enforcement partnerships facilitate the successful prosecutions of dangerous offenders like Brown, whose crimes spanned multiple jurisdictions. Seamless coordination by our federal and local law enforcement partners brought Brown to justice and ended his reign of terror.”

    “This case highlights the FBI’s commitment to working closely with our local partners to identify and arrest violent offenders who threaten public safety,” said Paul Brown, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta. “Brown’s armed crime spree endangered innocent lives across multiple communities. Thanks to the swift collaboration between law enforcement agencies, he was brought to justice before he could inflict real harm.”

    According to U.S. Attorney Hertzberg, the charges, and other information presented in court, Brown committed the following armed robberies and attempted armed robberies.

    • On November 17, 2023, Brown approached a teller window at a Wells Fargo Bank branch in Hampton, Georgia with a Pringles potato chip can in hand and demanded money. Brown then reached into his waistband as if he were retrieving a weapon. Before the employee complied with Brown’s request, Brown fled the bank without receiving any money.
    • On November 18, 2023, Brown entered a Truist Bank branch in Atlanta with a Pringles can in one hand and retrieved a gun from his waistband. Brown walked up to a teller, pointed the gun at her, and demanded money. After the teller struggled to open her drawer for a few seconds, Brown fled the bank without receiving any money.
    • On November 22, 2023, Brown entered a Truist Bank branch in Marietta, Georgia, approached the teller counter, stated that he was robbing the bank, and demanded money. After a few moments, Brown quickly exited the bank without receiving anything.
    • On November 27, 2023, Brown entered a Fifth Third Bank branch carrying a green Pringles chip can. Brown walked up to a bank employee, lifted his shirt to display a gun tucked in his waistband, and demanded money. Brown then walked around the counter, grabbed money from the employee’s drawer, and placed the cash inside the Pringles can. He then fled the bank.

    On November 29, 2023, officers from the Dallas Police Department arrested Brown after pulling over his vehicle in Paulding County, Georgia. Brown was the sole occupant of the vehicle. During the arrest, officers found, among other items, a large amount of cash in Brown’s pocket, a green Pringles chip can on the front passenger floorboard, and a gun on the rear floorboard.

    On June 30, 2025, U.S. District Judge Sarah E. Geraghty sentenced Brown to ten years, five months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Brown was convicted on March 20, 2025, after he pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted bank robbery, one count of armed bank robbery, one count of attempted armed bank robbery, and one count of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

    This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with valuable assistance from the Atlanta Police Department, Cobb County Police Department, Dallas Police Department, Lovejoy Police Department, and Marietta Police Department.

    This renewed collaboration reinforces ICC’s longstanding reputation as a leading provider of dispute resolution services in the technology sector and reflects ICANN’s continued reliance on ICC to support the fair, transparent and equitable resolution of domain name disputes. 

    ICANN is expected to open the application window for gTLD registrations in April 2026, giving third parties the opportunity to file objections against such registrations. ICC will administer the proceedings through which objections will be determined on first instance and on appeal – building on ICC’s experience administering cases arising from gTLD registrations in 2012.    

    Proceedings will result in a binding expert determination and will be administered by the ICC International Centre for ADR pursuant to its Expert Rules and the ICANN Applicant Guidebook, ICANN Dispute Resolution Procedure and ICANN Objection Appeals Procedure. The Centre is currently updating its Expert Rules with the creation of a dedicated appendix addressing the financial aspects of both first instance and appellate proceedings.
