  • MIL-OSI USA: Congressman Cohen Votes for Continuing Budget Resolution to Keep the Federal Government Operating

    WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today voted for a continuing appropriations resolution (known as a CR) to keep the government operating beyond the September 30 fiscal year deadline and until December 20. The measure was stripped of Republican poison pill provisions that caused him to vote against last week’s CR. The measure passed this afternoon would not have passed without Democratic member votes.

    The vote on passage was 341 to 82.

    Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

    “Our job in Congress is to appropriate money and to see that the federal government operates. The threat of a government shutdown was once unheard of but has become a regular occurrence under the Republican majority’s haphazard control of the House. Without the votes of Democrats, Speaker Johnson could not have passed this measure which now assures the continuation of necessary services at appropriate levels without the partisan poison pill provisions Donald Trump was pushing. I look forward to a return to a more disciplined and thoughtful appropriations process after the November elections.”

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the idea of making India a self-reliant  and developed country. Lok Sabha MP Anurag Singh Thakur has asserted that this concept will pull out our country out of the slavery mindset.

    He was speaking as the Chief guest at a program organized under the ‘Viksit Bharat Ambassador – Yuva Connect’ initiative at MIT World Peace University College, Kothrud, Pune. Under the ‘Viksit Bharat Ambassador – Yuva Connect’ initiative, interactive session are being organized to guide the  youth about their participation and responsibility towards achieving the goal of a developed India in various colleges of Maharashtra.

    Myers MIT Institute Trustee Rahul Karad, MIT World Peace University Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. M. Chitnis, National Skating Champion Jinesh Nanal, Viksit Bharat Youth Ambassador Kritika Bhandari and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

      

    Trees were planted in the premises of the institute under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative of the Central Government at the beginning of the program. Later, Anurag Singh Thakur paid  floral tributes to the statue of Sant Dnyaneshwar in the institute.

      

    Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. M. Chitnis welcomed the dignitories in his introductory speech. Kritika Bhandari then briefed all the students about the My Bharat portal run by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and urged them to register themselves on the portal. National Skating champion Jinesh Nanal shared experience of his sports journey while interacting with the students.

    A prefabricated modular polyclinic designed for 170 visits per shift will be purchased and installed for residents of the village of Bograd in the Republic of Khakassia. The order to allocate 250 million rubles for these purposes was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

    The subsidy was allocated to the budget of Khakassia on co-financing terms. The total cost of the work is almost 590 million rubles. The installation of the clinic and connection of the building to utility networks is planned to be completed in 2025.

    The new building of the polyclinic will have departments for adults and children, with the children’s department designed to receive 40 young patients per shift. Medical equipment needed to serve residents will be transported from the old building of the polyclinic, which is considered unsafe.

    BEIJING, Sept. 25 — China’s central bank on Wednesday conducted a 300-billion-yuan (about 42.73 billion U.S. dollars) medium-term lending facility (MLF) operation to maintain reasonable and ample liquidity in the banking system.

    The MLF operation had a maturity of one year with an interest rate of 2 percent, 30 basis points lower than the previous level.

    After the operation, the outstanding balance of the MLF stood at 6.878 trillion yuan.

    Two men have appeared in court charged with manslaughter following the death of a man in Erith.

    Mark Pearce, 40 (28.01.84) of Lower Road, Bexley and Markie Collins, 18 (16.04.06) of Galleon Close, Bexley, have been charged with the manslaughter of Amamudin Alikhel, referred to as Ali Khan.

    Police were called at approximately 22:25hrs on Monday, 28 August 2023 to reports of a man injured after being struck by a bus in West Road, Erith.

    Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. Ali Khan, was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation was launched after it became apparent that there had been an altercation prior to the victim being struck by the bus.

    Pearce and Collins both appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 18 September. They were bailed to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 16 October

    For the convenience of employees, residents and students, a new bus route to metro stations and Moscow Central Diameters will appear in the Skolkovo Innovation Center. In addition, routes in TiNAO will change – transport will come closer to social facilities. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov.

    “Starting September 28, we will launch a new route in Skolkovo and adjust the routes in TiNAO in the area of the new Potapovo metro station. They cover eight districts in two districts of the capital, as well as Odintsovo urban district in the Moscow region. We continue to improve the quality of passenger service on behalf of the Mayor of Moscow,” said Maxim Liksutov.

    The new route No. 1147a will connect the Skolkovo innovation center and the west of the capital. Buses will pass through the Slavyansky Bulvar and Filevsky Park stations.

    Route #971 has been extended to the Sosenskoye stop. It will pass near the Olkhovaya metro station and social facilities in Kommunarka. Route #117k will receive a new number (#917), buses on the line will run at shorter intervals.
