A person has died after a single-vehicle crash on Springs Road, between Kerwyn Avenue and Smales Road, last night.
Emergency services were called at around 10:40pm after a vehicle rolled.
Sadly, one person, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Police will be ensuring support to the victim’s family.

Police are investigating a serious road traffic collision in South Harrow.
On Saturday, 21 June, just after 06:00hrs, a car and pedestrian were involved in a collision on Eastcote Lane.
The pedestrian, a 69-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries, which are ongoing.
No arrests have been made.
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the collision and would like to hear from anyone in the area who witnessed what happened or might have caught dash cam footage of the incident, or the time leading up to it.

Tyquan Watson, 28, of Tallahassee, Florida, received 10 years in prison. His half-brother, Cleveland Blackshear, 26, of Tallahassee also received 10 years in prison. Dezaneil Cosby, 28, of Tallahassee received 5 years in prison. Shambresha Turner, 26, of Tallahassee received time-served and supervised release.
U.S. Attorney Heekin said: “I applaud the substantial efforts of our state and federal law enforcement partners to investigate, arrest, and help bring these drug traffickers to justice. These offenses are not victimless crimes; the victims are the members of our community who experience the addiction and violence that too often follows from drug traffickers flooding our streets with this poison. My office will continue to aggressively pursue these cases to keep our communities healthy and safe.”
Trial testimony and evidence demonstrated that Watson was purchasing hundred-pound quantities of marijuana per week from farms and brokers in California and reselling the marijuana in Tallahassee and surrounding areas. Evidence demonstrated that Watson had purchased at least 3169 pounds of marijuana between September 24, 2023, and January 10, 2024, with proceeds of at least $2.4 million during that period.
“With dispensaries and smoke shops becoming more commonplace, people may falsely assume that marijuana is no big deal,” said Deanne L. Reuter, Special Agent in Charge of Drug Enforcement Administration’s Miami Field Division. “I assure you, DEA considers it a big deal. It’s stronger than ever and can pose a serious health risk, especially to children. We will continue to pursue marijuana peddlers with the same verve as any other illicit substance.”
A long-term investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). On August 16, 2022, Shambresha Turner was stopped at the Panama City airport with 40 pounds of marijuana in her suitcases. Turner told officers that she was being paid to transport the suitcases. On October 13, 2022, FDLE conducted a controlled purchase of 28 pounds of marijuana from Cleveland Blackshear. During the surveillance, FDLE agents observed Blackshear obtaining the marijuana from Cosby’s residence immediately prior to the controlled purchase. Both Blackshear and Watson’s fingerprints were identified on packaging material associated with the purchased marijuana. Surveillance of Cosby’s residence between October 12, 2022, and October 28, 2022, revealed multiple people dropping off and picking up suitcases (at least 32 suitcases and 16 garbage bags). On October 28, 2022, DEA executed a federal search warrant at Cosby’s residence and seized 238 pounds of marijuana and a firearm. Watson and Cosby were arrested together on federal arrest warrants on March 11, 2024, at another residence in Tallahassee. During that arrest, law enforcement seized another 183 pounds of marijuana and a firearm.
“This investigation sends a clear message: if you bring drug trafficking and violence into our communities, we’re coming for you,” said FDLE Tallahassee Special Agent in Charge Keith Wilmer. “Our special agents, working side-by-side with the DEA, spent countless hours on covert operations to take down this criminal network. I’m proud of their relentless work to protect Florida’s capital city and hold these offenders accountable.”
Watson and Cosby were convicted at a jury trial on February 14, 2025. Blackshear and Turner had previously pled guilty. As part of his sentence, Watson was also ordered to forfeit $2,424,217 in drug proceeds.
“This case is a clear example of how drug trafficking, even with substances like marijuana, is often linked to greater dangers in our community, including illegal firearms and violent crime,” said Chief Lawrence Revell of the Tallahassee Police Department. “We remain committed to working alongside our federal and state partners to disrupt these criminal networks and protect the safety of our neighborhoods.”
These sentences were the result of a joint investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Tallahassee Police Department, and the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. Police are investigating a break-in at Port Noarlunga South this morning and have released CCTV of the suspects and their getaway scooter.
Three unknown males attended an address in Aldam Road, Port Noarlunga South about 8.30am on Saturday 21 June. One suspect waited outside on a scooter while two males entered the home and confronted the four occupants.
Three victims were assaulted during the incident and sustained minor injuries.
The offenders stole a Playstation 5 and two wallets before getting back on the silver and black scooter, described as similar to a Yamaha NMAX 155, and heading west along Aldam Road.
They were all dressed in black, with their faces covered.
Southern District CIB detectives are investigating.

Police are responding to an assault at the Pakuranga Night Market.
At around 6:45pm, emergency services were called to Aylesbury Street, where two people were located critically injured.
Cordons are in place around Aylesbury Street and Reeves Road, members of the public are advised to avoid the area.
Police are currently following lines of enquiry to locate the alleged offender.
Initial enquiries suggest this is an isolated incident and there is not believed to be any further risk to the public.
There will be a visible Police presence in the area throughout this evening as enquiries continue.

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after a 25-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed multiple times with an edged weapon by her partner in Alice Springs early this morning.
At 4:43am this morning NT police received information that a woman had been stabbed outside a store on Todd Street.
CCTV captured a 32-year-old man, who is believed to be known to the woman, stabbing her multiple times, but the footage was not sufficiently clear enough to establish the nature of the weapon used, or the severity of the injuries sustained.
The offender fled prior to police attendance and the victim got into a vehicle, which was leaving as police arrived. That vehicle, a white commodore with a white decal across the front windscreen, is believed to be involved in the incident.
Therefore, the condition of the victim could not be established, however, it is likely the victim has sustained substantial injuries.
A crime scene was declared and investigations remain ongoing.
The victim and the offender have now been identified and police are urging anyone who may have witnessed, or who have information about the incident to contact police on 131 444 as soon as possible and quote reference number NTP2500063207

A man was arrested after allegedly trying to steal a woman’s car at knifepoint at West Lakes this morning.
About 8.40am on Saturday 21 June, the victim, a woman aged in her 60s, was seated in her parked car in a car park on Bower Road, West Lakes when she was approached by a man.
The man opened her car door, presented a knife and demanded the car keys. The woman screamed, alerting witnesses and the suspect ran away.
It will be alleged he was located a short distance away by patrols.
Police Dog Bandit and Water Operations Police were called in to search the area to locate items discarded by the offender as he fled the scene. PD Bandit located a backpack and other items, while divers are searching the canal and surrounds for the knife believed to have been discarded.
A 19-year-old Semaphore Park man was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. He will be interviewed by Western District CIB detectives and has not yet applied for bail.

Shortly before 3pm, a Police vehicle sighted a vehicle that was reported as stolen, travelling on Portage Road in Otahuhu.
The Police helicopter, Eagle, maintained observations of the vehicle as it continued to travel south towards Manukau. The vehicle was not pursued.
The vehicle was successfully spiked on Great South Road, near Reagan Street, but the vehicle did not come to a stop.
A short time after the vehicle was spiked, at around 3:20pm, the vehicle collided with a member of the public’s vehicle at the intersection of Great South Road and Cavendish Drive.
The four occupants of the offending vehicle then fled on foot. Three were quickly apprehended, and a fourth person was located and taken into custody a short distance down the road soon after.
A member of the public has sustained minor injuries following the crash, no other injuries have been reported.
Motorists around the Great South Road and Cavendish Drive area are advised to expect delays as the scene of the crash is cleared.
Enquiries are ongoing and charges are being considered.

Police in Mosgiel are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing man.
72-year-old Christopher Beaumont has been missing since about 2.45pm today from around Goodall Street in Mosgiel.
Christopher was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, black denim pants and black crocs.
Police also ask the public to check sheds, outhouses and any CCTV footage.

A 44-year-old man faces a number of charges after crashing a stolen vehicle in Pakuranga this morning following a string of burglaries.
The man is thought to have been responsible for seven reported burglaries, stealing two cars, and getting into three crashes, between around 5:10am and 5:50am today.
It began in Udys Road where Police received a call from someone reporting an unknown man had broken into their house, and a physical confrontation took place. Fortunately there were no injuries, and the man left on foot.
Within minutes, Police received two further separate reports from residents on Udys Road – one reporting a man trying to force entry to her home, and a second reporting their front door being smashed.
Residents of a Pakuranga Road property called Police just after 5:30am, reporting that an unknown man had forced entry into their house armed with a knife. There were no injuries reported, before the man left.
Around 5:40am, Police were made aware of an incident on Grammar School Road, where they had seen a person run off towards their neighbour’s about 10 minutes earlier.
By this stage, a Police dog unit was in the area and had come across the man on a separate Grammar School Road property.
Minutes later, Police received another call from someone reporting the man had kicked in the front door to their house and was smashing items inside.
He stole this person’s car keys and drove off in their vehicle, crashing through a gate and onto Pakuranga Road, then onto Udys Road.
A Police unit was in the vicinity, before the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Udys Road and Reeves Road.
The man has then stolen another car from a property on Reeves Road, which Police pursued for a short time before it crashed at the intersection of Ti Rakau Drive and Tiraumea Drive, causing significant damage to a fence.
The man ran off on foot, before being arrested a short time later.
He will appear in court at a later date.

A leading Middle East analyst has pushed back against US President Donald Trump’s dismissal of the conclusion of his own national intelligence chief, who said in April that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon.
Marwan Bishara, Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst, said in an interview that Tulsi Gabbard, the US Director of National Intelligence, who issued the determination on Iran, “does not speak for herself” or her team alone.
“She speaks for all the intelligence agencies combined,” Bishara said.
“This intelligence is supposed to be sound. This is not just one person or one team saying something. It’s the entire intelligence community in the United States. He [Trump] would dismiss them? For what?

Two US senators have also condemned Netanyahu while Israel continues to bomb and starve Gaza
Chris Van Hollen and Elizabeth Warren, two Democrats in the US Senate, have urged the world to pay attention to what Israel continues to do in Gaza amid its conflict with Iran.
“Don’t look away,” Van Hollen wrote on X. “Since the start of the Israel-Iran war 7 days ago, over 400 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed, many shot while seeking food.
“It’s unconscionable that Netanyahu has not allowed international orgs to resume food delivery.”
Warren said the Israeli prime minister “may think no one will notice what he’s doing in Gaza while he bombs Iran”.

‘A trust gap’
The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, appealed for an end to the fighting between Israel and Iran, saying that Teheran had repeatedly stated that it was not seeking nuclear weapons.
“Let’s recognise there is a trust gap,” he said.
“The only way to bridge that gap is through diplomacy to establish a credible, comprehensive and verifiable solution — including full access to inspectors of the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency], as the United Nations technical agency in this field.
“For all of that to be possible, I appeal for an end to the fighting and the return to serious negotiations.”
Meanwhile, in New Zealand hope for freedom for Palestinians remained high among a group of trauma-struck activists in Cairo.

Two people have been injured, one moderately and one seriously.

This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” echoes India’s vision of global wellness and reflects the integrated approach to well-being. It emphasises the interconnectedness of human and planetary health, drawing from the Indian ethos of “Sarve Santu Niramaya” (May all be free from disease).
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the Prime Minister will perform the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) with over 3 lakh participants at the Visakhapatnam venue, synchronised with more than 10 lakh locations across the country under the ‘Yoga Sangam’ initiative.
The mass demonstration will take place from 6:30 to 7:45 AM and is expected to see unprecedented participation from across the country.
He will be joined by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in a large-scale demonstration of India’s global wellness vision.

The ITBP held several yoga sessions last week as a lead-up to International Yoga Day.
Meanwhile, Indian Coast Guard personnel gathered in Visakhapatnam to celebrate International Yoga Day. On the eastern coast, officials aboard Coast Guard Ship Rani Abbakka practised yoga along Tamil Nadu’s sacred shores.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Visakhapatnam on Friday evening, where he will lead the celebrations for International Yoga Day.
This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” echoes India’s vision of global wellness and reflects the integrated approach to well-being. It emphasises the interconnectedness of human and planetary health, drawing from the Indian ethos of “Sarve Santu Niramaya” (May all be free from disease).
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the Prime Minister will perform the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) with over 3 lakh participants at the Visakhapatnam venue, synchronised with more than 10 lakh locations across the country under the ‘Yoga Sangam’ initiative.
The mass demonstration will take place from 6:30 to 7:45 AM and is expected to see unprecedented participation from across the country.
He will be joined by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in a large-scale demonstration of India’s global wellness vision.

A man has been flown to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment after a serious assault at Dundee Beach late last night.
Shortly after 11pm the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre received a report of an alleged assault on a 55-year-old man by a group of people after a minor vehicle crash. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
As a result of the alleged assault, the victim suffered serious injuries to his face.
General Duties police, St John Ambulance and a CareFlight helicopter attended the scene before the man was flown to RDH where he underwent surgery.
A crime scene was declared, and investigations are ongoing.

Manawatū Police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand are making enquiries into a suspicious house fire in Levin this morning.
The fire on Cambridge Street was reported about 4:15am. Fortunately, the occupants of the house escaped without injury.
A 40-year-old Levin man has been taken into custody, and is due in Palmerston North District Court on Monday on an arson charge.
However, Police are still are seeking information from the public.
We are asking for anyone in the area who has CCTV to please come forward.
Part of our enquiries also include the movements of a red Suzuki Swift in the area at the time.

One of Queensland’s most popular outback national parks will reopen on 4 July 2025, in a major boost for the local tourism industry.
Boodjamulla National Park (Aboriginal Land) was closed following the impacts of an unprecedented flood event in March 2023.
The Boodjamulla Cooperative Management Council (CMC), comprising the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) and the Waanyi Native Title Aboriginal Corporation, has been working hard to re-open the national park.
Principal Ranger Marnie Augusteyn said the Queensland Government had invested almost $13 million to reopen the national park, and the tourism industry is thrilled.
“The funding includes an investment of $6.7 million for repairs and the construction of new visitor infrastructure within the Lawn Hill Gorge section,” Ms Augusteyn said.
“We’re also investing $6.1 million for reconstruction work on water treatment, sewage management, power supply and flood resilience work into our ranger residences.”
Michael Miller CEO Waanyi Native Title Aboriginal Corporation said he was on Country recently to inspect the progress.
“To assist with the staged reopening, Waanyi Elder Everyl Johnny will be based at Boodjamulla gorge to personally welcome visitors on behalf of all Waanyi people to the national park,” Mr Miller said.
“She will provide inductions to visitors, giving insight into Waanyi culture and the impacts of the flooding.
“On behalf of the Waanyi Native Title Aboriginal Corporation, we welcome visitors back to the national park.
“This is our backyard, and please treat it with the same respect that you would your own backyard.
“Please pay attention to restricted access areas for your own safety and pay respect to our culture.”
CEO Tourism Tropical North Queensland Mark Olsen said the Lawn Hill Gorge section of Boodjamulla National Park is an iconic location.
“Reopening Boodjamulla National Park for winter will provide a much needed boost to the northwest and the communities along the Savannah Way that have faced difficult times over past three years,” Mr Olsen said.
“Our great thanks and appreciation to the Waanyi Native Title Corporation, the DETSI team and the QPWS team onsite that have made this possible, it is a huge boost for the region.”
In June 2023, the national park was returned to the Waanyi People. Now dedicated as Boodjamulla National Park (Aboriginal Land), it is the first of its tenure class in Queensland.

200 illegally dumped truck tyres in the Isla Gorge National Park
Up to 200 illegally dumped truck tyres in the Isla Gorge National Park have prompted disgust and sparked a joint investigation to find the person or business responsible.
During a bushfire in October 2024, the tyres were discovered in a deep ravine adjacent to the Leichhardt Highway.
Located approximately 340km west of Bundaberg and 230km southwest of Rockhampton, Isla Gorge National Park features stunning gorges, sandstone outcrops and striking rock formations.
Rangers from the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation and Banana Shire Council compliance officers launched an investigation.
Senior Ranger Chris said the tyres posed a significant fire risk and had polluted a highly sensitive environment.
“This shocking example of illegal dumping has delayed our planned burn program, and we are doing everything we can to remediate the site and find the person or business responsible,” Ranger Chris said.
“We believe someone in the region knows who is responsible for dumping the tyres, and we are asking anyone with information to call us on 1300 130 372 or call the Banana Shire Council on (07) 4992 9500.”
“Due to the remote location and the size of the tyres, rangers from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service were unable to remove them using conventional methods.
“The complex clean-up operation involves a specialist contractor with a 130-tonne crane to remove and recycle the tyres.”
“Visitors to our national parks don’t want to see illegally dumped waste, and that’s why we take a zero-tolerance approach to offenders.
“People involved in illegally dumping waste can receive hefty fines, and they can be ordered to clean up the mess.
Banana Shire Council Mayor Nev Ferrier said the dumping was unacceptable and showed no respect for the region’s natural environment.
“It’s just disgraceful, whoever did this clearly has no regard for the land, our national parks, or the people who care for them,” Mayor Ferrier said.
“The Isla Gorge is one of the most beautiful parts of our region, and to see it treated like this is heartbreaking.
“I urge anyone who knows anything about this to do the right thing and come forward.”

One person has been found deceased following a house fire in Marton this morning.
Emergency services were called to the Calico Line property, between Bredins Line and Nga Tawa Road, about 6:10am, and found the house fully ablaze.
Sadly, one person was found deceased at the property.
A scene guard has been put in place and Police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand investigators are carrying out a scene examination. The cause of the fire is still to be determined.
At this time, no further details are available.

Police have narrowed down an area of interest in the ongoing search for missing Christchurch woman Elisabeth ‘Lis’ Nicholls.
Lis was last seen at the Chateau on the Park in Riccarton on the evening of Wednesday 4 June, and Police and her family remain desperate to locate her.
Police have a possible sighting of Lis at the eastern end of Hagley Park, around the Park Terrace and Salisbury/Montreal Street areas around 8:25pm that night. [area pictured]
We are appealing to anyone in this area in particular to please check your properties, and notify Police of anything unusual.
We are also continuing to appeal to people across Christchurch to please search your backyards, sheds and sleepouts, and look under anything where a person could seek shelter.
For anyone with CCTV, Police would like you to review any footage you have, especially if your cameras are facing the street, from 8.20pm to 10pm on Wednesday 4 June.
While Lis went missing in the Riccarton area, she is physically strong, and may have walked some distance.

PROVIDENCE – A British national from Northern Ireland illegally in the United States today admitted to a federal judge that he participated in a multi-state construction and money laundering fraud scheme that netted more than a million dollars, and that he provided false information to gain entry into the United States, announced Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.
In pleading guilty to wire fraud conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, and false statement in a document used to gain entry into the United States, Elijah Gavin, 29, admitted to the following:
According to the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center, Conmen Travelers are groups of Irish or U.K. nationals who entered the United States on pleasure or tourist visas and overstayed their visits or, more commonly, entered the United States illegally. Once in the United States, they go to different cities and states, soliciting construction work. The members often quote a low price, and then, after further inspection, demand much more money and/or convince the homeowner that their homes or business are in need of major repairs. Conmen Travelers often hire day laborers; do not have work authorization documents or pull permits; and do low quality, unnecessary, or incomplete work, sometimes damaging homeowners’ residences.
Gavin has been detained in federal custody since his arrest in New Jersey on January 29, 2025. He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 11, 2025. The sentences imposed will be determined by a federal district judge after consideration of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Sandra R. Hebert and Taylor A. Dean.
The matter was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, Rhode Island State Police, and U.S Diplomatic Security Service.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Mexican national has pleaded guilty in federal court today for illegal possession of firearms.
Jose Montero-Barradas, 34, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Greg Kays to one count of Alien in Possession of Firearms.
According to court documents, Montero-Barradas knew he was present in the United States illegally and unlawfully, when he knowingly possessed two firearms on March 23, 2025. Specifically, on the evening of March 23, 2025, members of the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department were dispatched to a residential area in Kansas City following a report of shots fired. Officers arriving on the scene observed Montero-Barradas walking into a residence with two firearms, which were later recovered.
Under federal law it is illegal for an alien to possess a firearm or ammunition.
Montero-Barradas faces up to 15 years in federal prison without parole. The maximum statutory sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes, as the sentence of the defendant will be determined by the court based upon the advisory sentencing guidelines and other factors. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean Foley. It was investigated by the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.

Memphis, TN – The U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is looking for Detreka Thomas. Thomas has a warrant for his arrest in Greenwood, Mississippi for Murder.
On April 9, 2024, the Greenwood Police Department contacted the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and requested assistance in locating and apprehending Detreka Thomas (26).
Thomas is charged with the shooting death of Accardo Willis on April 1, 2024, in Greenwood, Mississippi.
The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force when they discovered that Thomas frequents the Memphis, Tennessee area.
Thomas is listed at 5 feet 7 inches in height and approximately 160 pounds. Thomas is considered armed and dangerous, do not approach him. He has ties to the Memphis, Tennessee and Greenwood, Mississippi area.
The U.S. Marshals Service is offering up to $1,500 reward for information that leads to Thomas’ arrest. Citizens are encouraged to call 1-800-336-0102. All tips are anonymous.

Motorists are advised of diversions for southbound traffic in Hillcrest, Hamilton today following an earlier crash.
A single-vehicle hit a power pole around 6:30am today on Cambridge Road.
There were no injuries, but contractors are expected to be on site for most of the day working to fix the power lines.
Diversions are in place for southbound traffic off Cambridge Road at Cobham Drive and Masters Avenue.
