Moscow, June 2 (Xinhua) — Russia handed over a memorandum consisting of two parts to the Ukrainian side during talks with Ukraine in Istanbul, head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Medinsky told reporters in Istanbul, Russian media reported.
“The first is how to achieve a real long-term peace. And the second part is what steps to take to make a full-fledged ceasefire possible. Moreover, there is even some variability in the second part,” V. Medinsky told journalists after the negotiations.
According to him, the Ukrainian side took the memorandum into consideration.
Russia, as V. Medinsky reported, offered Ukraine a ceasefire for 2-3 days on certain sections of the front. This should allow the bodies of the dead to be collected.
Russia and Ukraine will exchange seriously ill and wounded people according to the “all for all” formula, while Russia will unilaterally transfer 6,000 frozen bodies of Ukrainian servicemen to Ukraine.
Russia and Ukraine are organizing medical commissions for the exchange of seriously wounded soldiers; these exchanges will be regular, V. Medinsky announced.
The topic of children who have lost contact with their parents was discussed at the talks. The head of the Russian delegation demonstrated a list of 339 names of children handed over by Ukraine, assuring that the Russian Federation would consider each situation without exception on this list. At the same time, V. Medinsky noted that recently the Russian side returned 101 children to Ukraine, and the Ukrainian side – 22. –0–
