Alberta’s government is committed to ensuring Jasper residents and businesses are supported as the community recovers from last summer’s wildfire. Since the beginning of the wildfire, more than $178 million has been provided from across the provincial government to support Jasper residents and businesses as the community recovers and rebuilds.
Budget 2025, if passed, further supports the province’s commitment to the recovery of the Municipality of Jasper by providing more than $3 million in additional revenue stabilization funding to help compensate for lower municipal revenues, reducing the burden on municipal taxpayers.
“As people visit and move back home to Jasper, more people are relying on the municipality to deliver the essential services they need. That’s why we are providing more revenue stabilization to the municipality to counteract the municipal revenue that they lost during the wildfires. This will help reduce the tax burden on the remaining homes and businesses in Jasper.”
With more than $3 million in additional support for the Municipality of Jasper, Alberta’s government has now provided a total assistance package of more than $181 million. The additional municipal revenue stabilization funding builds upon the more than $3 million that was previously provided, bringing the total to over $6 million. This additional funding will help the Municipality of Jasper deliver essential services such as snow clearing, transit, roadwork and more to its residents.

Alberta’s total assistance package of over $181 million during and after the wildfire includes:
- Up to $149 million in Disaster Recovery Program funding.
- $7.5 million in emergency evacuation payments to more than 6,500 Jasperites.
- More than $12 million in matching funds to support the Canadian Red Cross in providing support to residents and business owners in Jasper.
- $2.5 million in tourism support.
- $121,400 to support the Jasper Food Bank.
- $3.02 million in tax relief for lease holders of residential and business properties.
- $6.5 million in revenue stabilization for the Municipality of Jasper.
- $2 million one-time grant to support contracted transit services.
Budget 2025 is meeting the challenge faced by Alberta with continued investments in education and health, lower taxes for families and a focus on the economy.
