  • ADB projects India’s GDP to grow at 6.5% in 2025, 6.7% in 2026 amid strong domestic demandion

    Source: Government of India (4)

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Wednesday projected that India’s GDP will grow at 6.5% in 2025 and a robust 6.7% in 2026, driven by strong domestic demand, a normal monsoon, and monetary easing.

Inflation in India is expected to stay well within the Reserve Bank of India’s target range, with headline inflation projected at 3.8% for 2025 and 4.0% for 2026, according to the ADB. A sharp decline in food prices has helped ease overall price pressures, with Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation falling to 2.1% in June — the lowest level in over six years — as food inflation turned negative.

India’s real GDP growth is projected to range between 6.4% and 6.7% this fiscal year, reaffirming the country’s position as the fastest-growing major economy in the world, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said earlier this month.

Meanwhile, ADB has lowered its growth forecasts for developing Asia and the Pacific for both this year and the next. The downward revisions are attributed to weaker exports due to higher US tariffs and global trade uncertainty, as well as subdued domestic demand.

According to the Asian Development Outlook (ADO) July 2025, the region’s economies are now expected to grow by 4.7% this year, a 0.2 percentage point decrease from April’s projection. The 2026 forecast has also been revised downward to 4.6% from 4.7%.

The outlook for developing Asia and the Pacific could worsen further if US tariffs and trade tensions escalate. Other risks include geopolitical conflicts that could disrupt global supply chains and drive up energy prices, as well as a deeper-than-expected slump in China’s property market.

“Asia and the Pacific have weathered an increasingly challenging external environment this year. But the economic outlook has weakened amid intensifying risks and global uncertainty,” said ADB Chief Economist Albert Park.

“Economies in the region should continue strengthening their fundamentals and promoting open trade and regional integration to support investment, employment, and growth,” Park added.

Growth projections for the People’s Republic of China (PRC), the region’s largest economy, remain unchanged at 4.7% for this year and 4.3% for next year. Southeast Asian economies are expected to be hit hardest by deteriorating trade conditions and rising uncertainty. ADB now forecasts growth of 4.2% for the subregion this year and 4.3% next year—both figures roughly half a percentage point lower than the April estimates.

New products position Obagi Medical at the forefront of health, beauty and aesthetics convergence

LONDON, July 23, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Waldencast plc (NASDAQ: WALD) (“Waldencast”), a global multi-brand beauty and wellness platform, today announced that it has acquired Novaestiq Corp. (Novaestiq), a growth-oriented aesthetic and medical dermatological innovations company, as well as the U.S. rights to the Saypha® line of hyaluronic acid (HA) injectable gels. • MIL-OSI Asia-Pac: LCQ6: Flexi-trip Arrangement for High Speed Rail

Source: Hong Kong Government special administrative region – 4

Following is a question by the Hon Gary Zhang a reply by the Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Ms Mable Chan, in the Legislative Council today (July 23):

    Question:

The MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL) launched in August 2023 the Same-day Flexi-trip Arrangement (Flexi-trip) for passengers travelling between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Futian Station of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link. The service has been extended to include train trips running to and from Shenzhenbei Station since March 18 last year. In this connection, will the Government inform this Council:

    (1) whether it knows the current number of Flexi-trip-applicable train trips, its percentage in the total number of train trips running via Futian Station and/or Shenzhenbei Station, and the average proportion of passengers utilising Flexi-trip among such train trips;

    (2) whether it knows the average occupancy rates of Flexi-trip-applicable train trips during weekdays, weekends and public holidays respectively from August 2023 to March 17 last year, and from March 18 last year to the present; and

    (3) as it is learnt that the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway fully implemented the electronic ticket “valid once throughout the ticketed date” services in March this year, allowing passengers who have purchased their tickets to travel on trains of the same direction and of the same class throughout the ticketed date without having to alter tickets, whether the Government will require MTRCL to study applying this ticketing model to Flexi-trip so as to facilitate passenger travel; if so, of the details; if not, the reasons for that?

    Reply:

    President,

Since the commissioning of the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) on September 23, 2018, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the operator of the XRL Hong Kong Section, i.e. the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL), have all along been committed to enhancing the services and operational arrangements of the XRL, with a view to fully realising its socio-economic benefits and the advantages of interconnectivity with the national high-speed rail network. The XRL Hong Kong Section connects with the national high speed rail network, which currently spans over 47 000 kilometres. The number of Mainland destinations directly accessible from West Kowloon Station has more than doubled from 44 in the initial commissioning to 96, including 11 short-haul destinations and 85 long-haul destinations. The number of train trips operated per day has also increased from 166 in the initial stage to at least 208 currently. Apart from gradually introducing more destinations, the MTRCL has been actively exploring the provision of diversified XRL train services and products with the Mainland railway authorities, with a view to providing convenience to passengers and meeting their different needs. Of these, there are Same-day Flexi-trip Arrangement (Flexi-trip Arrangement) that provides greater flexibility in journey planning for short-haul travellers; multiple journey tickets, such as the 30-day Ticket and 20-ride Ticket, for frequent travellers commuting between the two places; and sleeper train service running in the mode of evening departures and morning arrivals that provides an alternative travelling experience to long-haul travellers. The XRL caters for the different needs of travellers ranging from short-haul and long-haul trips to business, leisure, and family visits, facilitating more frequent flow of people between the two places.

In consultation with the MTRCL, my consolidated reply to the question raised by the Hon Gary Zhang is as follows:

    (1) and (2) The Flexi-trip Arrangement, first introduced on August 14, 2023, was a new ticketing arrangement, allowing passengers travelling between West Kowloon Station and Futian Station to flexibly alter their train trips on the same day. Apart from altering their tickets once for free before train departure through the General Ticket Alteration arrangement, passengers are also allowed to alter their train trips for up to three times on the day of travel through the Flexi-trip Arrangement. Since March 18, 2024, the arrangement has been extended to cover direct trains running between West Kowloon Station and Shenzhenbei Station, and trains departing from or terminating at Shenzhenbei Station that call at Futian Station. “Non-reserved Seats” are also available for train trips covered by the Flexi-trip Arrangement to provide more room and flexibility to passengers in altering their train trips.

According to the information provided by the MTRCL, starting from July 1, 2025, there is a daily total of 109 train trips at West Kowloon Station calling at, departing from or terminating at Futian Station, with 74 of these train trips open for the Flexi-trip Arrangement, accounting for nearly 70 per cent of the total; and 167 trains calling at, departing from or terminating at Shenzhenbei Station, with 60 of these trains open for Flexi-trip Arrangement, accounting for about 40 per cent of the total. Overall, Flexi-trip Arrangement is applicable to a total of 98 train trips.

Based on the MTRCL’s assessment, after the introduction of the Flexi-trip Arrangement, the overall patronage of the relevant train trips has increased, suggesting that Flexi-trip Arrangement is one of the factors attracting more passengers to take the XRL. The average loading of the Flexi-trip Arrangement-applicable train trips was about 40 per cent for the first phase, and remained at similar level after the extension of the arrangement to Shenzhenbei Station in the second phase, among which the related loading was nearly 60 per cent on average during weekends and public holidays. Of the train trips applicable for Flexi-trip Arrangement, passengers using Flexi-trip Arrangement account for an average of nearly 10 per cent of the total patronage of these trips.

    (3) With the increasingly frequent flow of people between Hong Kong and the Mainland, the commissioning of the XRL Hong Kong Section has realised the “one-hour living circle” in the Greater Bay Area. The Flexi-trip Arrangement further facilitates the flexible travel of visitors, marking a significant breakthrough in the services of the XRL Hong Kong Section. The HKSAR Government and the MTRCL have been actively reviewing how to further bring greater convenience to visitors.

As we understand, the China Railway Guangzhou Group Company Limited introduced the “Same-day One-time Valid” electronic ticket service on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway running between Guangzhou and Shenzhen in March 2025. In short, passengers with a “Same-day One-Time Valid” ticket can choose to take any train of the same direction and class on the same day according to their travel needs. This arrangement saves passengers the hassle of altering their train ticket, enabling more flexibility in choosing different trains and bringing greater convenience to passengers.

Upon introduction of such ticketing arrangement at the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway, the MTRCL approached the relevant Mainland authorities to explore the feasibility of introducing a similar arrangement in the XRL Hong Kong Section. The HKSAR Government supports the MTRCL to continue exploring various measures to facilitate passengers’ travel. We understand that the MTRCL has recently been actively studying the details of the relevant arrangements with relevant Mainland authorities, with due consideration to factors such as the clearance procedures, ticketing arrangements, train operation safety involved in the XRL Hong Kong section, etc.

The HKSAR Government and the MTRCL will maintain communication and co-ordination with the Mainland railway authorities and the relevant departments to continuously enhance the services of the XRL Hong Kong Section, with a view to providing convenient and comfortable services to passengers.

    Thank you, President.

TOKYO, July 23 (Xinhua) — Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Wednesday reiterated his intention to stay in office, denying reports that he will resign soon and stressing the need to avoid a political vacuum.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with senior Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) officials, Ishiba said they had not discussed his resignation at all, adding that “the reports are unfounded.”

Shigeru Ishiba faces a critical political moment as discontent within the ruling LDP threatens to undermine his leadership following an internal LDP review of its crushing defeat in the recent House of Councillors (upper house) elections.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Mainichi newspaper reported that Shigeru Ishiba had informed close aides of his intention to step down by August. –0–

LOS ANGELES, July 23 (Xinhua) — More than 140 employees of the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) have signed a letter condemning the Donald Trump administration’s science policies and actions, which they say have undermined one of the country’s leading science funding institutions.

In a letter released Monday to Zoe Lofgren, ranking member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, scientists accuse the Trump administration of drastically cutting staff, cutting funding for critical research, and slashing the agency’s budget.

Due to concerns about the possible consequences, all but one of the employees’ signatures were revoked.

The signatories expressed concern about a series of “politically motivated” and “legally questionable” actions by the Trump administration that threaten the integrity of the NSF and undermine the civil service protections guaranteed by federal law.

The statement follows similar letters of protest issued last month by scientists and employees at the National Institutes of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as a recent “Voyager Declaration” signed by current and former employees of the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). –0–

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova held the first meeting of the organizing committee for preparations for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of GITIS in 2028. The agenda included discussion of the plan of events. The meeting was attended by GITIS Rector Grigory Zaslavsky, Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia Andrei Malyshev, General Director of the NTV television company Alexei Zemsky, Head of the Vocal Arts Department of GITIS Tamara Sinyavskaya, Chairman of the Union of Theatre Workers Vladimir Mashkov and others.

“GITIS annually confirms its status as a leading university in the field of theater education according to the K.S. Stanislavsky system. The upcoming anniversary – the 150th anniversary of the founding of GITIS – is a wonderful opportunity not only to look back on the path traveled, but also to fully present the achievements of the national theater school, recognized throughout the world,” emphasized Tatyana Golikova. – Many destinies and events are connected with GITIS. These are not just pages of history, but the very history of the transformation of our country. Epochs changed, but GITIS remained a forge of outstanding cultural figures. This is its true purpose and role in the fate of Russia.”

Today, the institute has about 1,800 students from 30 countries, who are taught their skills by more than 500 teachers. Eight departments teach actors of dramatic and musical theater, directors of drama, musical theater and circus, choreographers and ballet teachers, theater artists and makeup artists, playwrights, producers and theater historians.

Deputy Minister of Culture Andrei Malyshev emphasized that GITIS is an ambassador of Russian culture and identity, so the institute’s anniversary is important not only for GITIS and the theater community, but also for all of Russian culture.

GITIS is actively developing. “Just two days later, on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, on July 25, in the city of Blagoveshchensk, we open together with Governor Vasily Orlov of the Far Eastern branch of GITIS. The exams have already passed, the competition was, there was a competition, which is also very important for us, so we are just starting. The next day we move to Heihe, to China, and there we also present the Far Eastern branch of GITIS. It is very important for us that from the moment of changes, we not only have not decreased the flow of foreign students, but there are even more of them. This year we have almost accepted 46 students. This is Latvia, and Italy, and Iran, and Morocco. And of course, we are trying to maintain leadership in Central Asia, we have just held the GITIS school on Lake Issyk-Kul, the traditional, already fourth in a row. There were four countries with Russia. It is also important for us to expand the presence of GITIS in Central and South America. Last year, the second time was held by GITIS School in Chile, the first time GITIS School in Brazil after a long break in the framework of the “Russian seasons“. This year, the Brazilians came to us at the theater festival. It seems to me that one of the most important problems that we realized is that the theater is one of the arts, maybe the only one that cannot exist without constant self -understanding. The writer. It can be written in the world in 100 years by someone that can be brilliant in 100 years, no one will call the contemporaries, we have not been appreciated by the problem of the Institute of Expertise. We began the publication of the “Theater Journal“ and we consider this to be one of the most important tasks of returning a serious and high -quality examination to the theater, ”said the rector of the university Grigory Zaslavsky.

The plan to celebrate the 150th anniversary included 20 events, including festivals, tours, exhibitions and conferences.

Key events include a gala concert dedicated to the 150th anniversary of GITIS, the International Competition of Young Choreographers named after R.V. Zakharov “Maria”, and the premiere of a documentary film about the history of the institute. In September 2028, GITIS will launch its branded train, on which students and teachers will travel from Moscow to Blagoveshchensk with performances and festive concerts, as well as master classes and selection tests in various regions of the country.

Traditional GITIS festivals will be scaled up. The VIII International Student Festival of Diploma Performances “GITIS-fest” will be held in two cities – Moscow and Blagoveshchensk. In April 2028, the XIX International Competition of Young Choreographers named after R.V. Zakharov “Maria” and the XVIII International Festival of Stage Fencing “Silver Sword” named after N.V. Karpov will be held, and in November – the theater festival of the CIS countries “GITIS – Master Class”. The international scientific conference “Perspective – 150 years of GITIS” will bring together young specialists from leading universities in Russia, near and far abroad: art history, theater studies, philology, directing, choreography, scenography.

An exhibition entitled “Russian Revolutionary Theatre” is planned for the fall of 2028, dedicated to the unique traditions of Russian theatre and domestic education in the field of theatrical art.

Other events include tours of GITIS graduation performances in the CIS republics and regions of Russia where GITIS national studios were created. In addition, a series of 12 podcasts from GITIS students with stories about faculties and teachers will be released in 2028.

An important event in preparation for the celebration will be the renovation and restoration work in the main academic building, as well as a major overhaul of the dormitory.

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

SHENZHEN, China, July 23, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Recent reports have indicated that Aurora Mobile Limited (NASDAQ: JG) (“Aurora Mobile” or the “Company”), a leading provider of customer engagement and marketing technology services in China, has been approached by various parties seeking to collaborate in exploring opportunities in the Real World Asset (RWA) markets, both in China and globally.

In response, Mr. Weidong Luo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Aurora Mobile, commented, “There are many different aspects of our current products and services that I believe can help all parties grow and prosper in the RWA markets. As a leading provider of customer engagement and marketing technology services in China, Aurora Mobile sees great potential for synergy with RWA development through its core business segments: data services, marketing cloud services, and customer engagement solutions. Specific opportunities include:

    • Integrating Data Services with RWA:
Aurora Mobile has amassed an extensive data asset base, having served 1.78 million apps with more than 1.4 billion monthly active devices. This data can be combined with RWA projects to provide critical support in assessing underlying asset value and risk. For example, in real estate RWA projects, Aurora Mobile can provide data on surrounding population density and consumer purchasing power to aid investor decision-making. Similarly, for renewable energy RWA initiatives, Aurora Mobile can offer user behavior insights to optimize asset operation strategies. The Company’s data strength can also support asset valuation and pricing of RWA projects by establishing more accurate data-driven models.
    • Marketing Cloud Services Empower RWA Promotion:
Aurora Mobile’s marketing cloud solutions help businesses achieve multi-channel customer reach. For RWA projects, its robust marketing channels can be used to promote RWA products to a wider base of investors. This enhances visibility and recognition, ultimately boosting RWA asset sales and liquidity.

Aurora Mobile can facilitate timely responses to investor inquiries, handle complaints, and strengthen investor trust and satisfaction in RWA projects. • AI-Driven Collaboration Opportunities:
Aurora Mobile has made strategic advancements in AI, such as integrating with GPTBots.ai, the Company’s AI agent platform. AI technology is also essential in the RWA space, particularly for asset pricing optimization and risk forecasting. Leveraging its AI technology capabilities, Aurora Mobile can collaborate with RWA stakeholders to develop AI-powered applications, improving the intelligence and efficiency of RWA project management.
    • Cross-Border Business Synergies with RWA:
Aurora Mobile provides customer engagement and marketing technology applications for Chinese companies that are expanding overseas. As a result, the Company has accumulated extensive experience in cross-border business. As RWAs enable the global trading of assets, Aurora Mobile can leverage its cross-border service capabilities to support RWA projects across borders. This includes helping promote and operate such projects in different regions and assisting with issues such as cross-border payments and investor communications.

With its proven technological capabilities and deep market experience, Aurora Mobile is well positioned to contribute to the growth and innovation of the RWA ecosystem and looks forward to exploring further collaboration opportunities with partners in this space.

Editor’s Note: “Mystical Pagoda,” currently underway at NUO Hotel Art Space in Beijing until Sept. 26, represents an important exhibition by Mei Hua, a pioneer of gold Buddhist microcarving. Tracing 18 years of artistic evolution, the exhibition presents works that fuse Tibetan iconography, traditional Chinese aesthetics and contemporary material design. In an interview conducted on-site, the artist discusses her artistic origins, philosophical beliefs and resistance to stereotypes that claimed Chinese artists could not achieve such microscopic precision. Her journey — deeply spiritual and culturally defiant — demonstrates how faith and finesse can reshape the global language of miniature art.

KYIV, July 23 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address on Wednesday that a Mirage 2000 fighter jet donated to the country by France had crashed, marking the first known loss of the type of aircraft by Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Air Force, in turn, stated on Telegram that the plane crash occurred due to equipment failure on Tuesday evening while performing a flight mission.

The pilot managed to eject and was found by a search and rescue team. His condition is assessed as stable. There are no casualties on the ground.

A special commission has been created to determine the causes of the accident.

The Mirage 2000 is a fourth-generation multirole fighter jet. It is capable of carrying long-range Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG cruise missiles. Ukraine received its first batch of Mirage 2000 aircraft in February this year. –0–

UNITED NATIONS, July 23 (Xinhua) — China’s permanent representative to the United Nations Fu Cong on Tuesday rejected U.S. accusations against Beijing over the South China Sea issue at the Security Council open debate on multilateralism and peaceful settlement of disputes.

The United States itself is creating problems, sowing discord and undermining trust in the South China Sea region, he said in response to accusations from a US representative.

China has indisputable sovereignty over Nanhai Zhudao (South China Sea Islands) and its adjacent waters. China’s territorial sovereignty, maritime rights and interests in the SCS have sufficient historical and legal foundations, Fu Cong said.

Beijing’s position on the SCS arbitration case has always been consistent and clear: China does not accept or recognize the so-called arbitration award and rejects any claims or actions based on it, the diplomat said.

In reality, the overall situation in the SCS has remained stable in recent years, thanks to joint efforts with the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Fu Tsung emphasized. There are no problems with freedom of navigation and overflight, he added.

China has been consistently working with all relevant countries to properly resolve differences over the South China Sea through dialogue and consultation based on respect for historical facts and international law, the Permanent Representative said. –0–

WASHINGTON, July 23 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday accused former President Barack Obama of “treason” over the 2016 presidential election, prompting a sharp response from Obama’s spokesman, who called the accusations “ridiculous” and a “weak attempt to distract.”

Answering a media question about the case involving the late American financier Jeffrey Epstein, D. Trump moved on to attacks on B. Obama.

“They tried to rig the election, and they got caught. And there are going to be very serious consequences for that,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

Calling B. Obama a “gang leader,” D. Trump claimed that Democrats, including Joseph Biden and Hillary Clinton, allegedly engaged in election manipulation from 2016 through 2020.

“It was treason. It was everything you could think of. They tried to steal the election. They tried to confuse the election,” Trump said.

“Out of respect for the institution of the presidency, our office does not typically dignify a response to the constant nonsense and disinformation emanating from the White House. But these allegations are outrageous enough to merit refutation,” Obama’s press secretary Patrick Rhodenbush said.

“These bizarre accusations are ridiculous and a feeble attempt to distract attention,” he said in a statement.

    J. Epstein, who had extensive connections to the US political and business elite, was arrested on sex crimes charges and died in prison in August 2019. It was determined that he died by suicide.

During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump promised to release documents related to the Epstein case if he was re-elected. But earlier this month, the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a joint memo saying that there was no “client list” for Epstein and that “further disclosure would not be appropriate or warranted.”

The Trump administration’s shifting stance on the issue has drawn widespread criticism, with some angry supporters even calling for Attorney General Pam Bondi to resign, demanding more transparency from the government. –0–

  • Microsoft knew of SharePoint security flaw but failed to effectively patch it, timeline shows

A security patch Microsoft released this month failed to fully fix a critical flaw in the U.S. tech giant’s SharePoint server software, opening the door to a sweeping global cyber espionage effort, a timeline reviewed by Reuters shows.

On Tuesday, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that its initial solution to the flaw, identified at a hacker competition in May, did not work, but added that it released further patches that resolved the issue.

It remains unclear who is behind the spy effort, which targeted about 100 organisations over the weekend, and is expected to spread as other hackers join the fray.

In a blog post Microsoft said two allegedly Chinese hacking groups, dubbed “Linen Typhoon” and “Violet Typhoon,” were exploiting the weaknesses, along with a third, also based in China.

Microsoft and Alphabet’s Google have said China-linked hackers were probably behind the first wave of hacks.

Chinese government-linked operatives are regularly implicated in cyberattacks, but Beijing routinely denies such hacking operations.

In an emailed statement, its embassy in Washington said China opposed all forms of cyberattacks, and “smearing others without solid evidence.”

The vulnerability opening the way for the attack was first identified in May at a Berlin hacking competition organised by cybersecurity firm Trend Micro that offered cash bounties for finding computer bugs in popular software.

It offered a $100,000 prize for so-called “zero-day” exploits that leverage previously undisclosed digital weaknesses that could be used against SharePoint, Microsoft’s flagship document management and collaboration platform.

The U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration, charged with maintaining and designing the nation’s cache of nuclear weapons, was among the agencies breached, Bloomberg News said on Tuesday, citing a person with knowledge of the matter.

No sensitive or classified information is known to have been compromised, it added.

The U.S. Energy Department, the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and Microsoft did not immediately respond to Reuters’ requests for comment on the report.

A researcher for the cybersecurity arm of Viettel, a telecoms firm run by Vietnam’s military, identified a SharePoint bug at the May event, dubbed it “ToolShell” and demonstrated a way to exploit it.

The discovery won the researcher an award of $100,000, an X posting by Trend Micro’s “Zero Day Initiative” showed.

Participating vendors were responsible for patching and disclosing security flaws in “an effective and timely manner,” Trend Micro said in a statement.

“Patches will occasionally fail,” it added. “This has happened with SharePoint in the past.”

In a July 8 security update Microsoft said it had identified the bug, listed it as a critical vulnerability, and released patches to fix it.

About 10 days later, however, cybersecurity firms started to notice an influx of malicious online activity targeting the same software the bug sought to exploit: SharePoint servers.

“Threat actors subsequently developed exploits that appear to bypass these patches,” British cybersecurity firm Sophos said in a blog post on Monday.

The pool of potential ToolShell targets remains vast.

Hackers could theoretically have already compromised more than 8,000 servers online, data from search engine Shodan, which helps identify internet-linked equipment, shows.

Such servers were in networks ranging from auditors, banks, healthcare companies and major industrial firms to U.S. state-level and international government bodies.

The Shadowserver Foundation, which scans the internet for potential digital vulnerabilities, put the number at a little more than 9,000, cautioning that the figure is a minimum.

It said most of those affected were in the United States and Germany.

Germany’s federal office for information security, BSI, said on Tuesday it had found no compromised SharePoint servers in government networks, despite some being vulnerable to the ToolShell attack.

  • MIL-OSI China: ‘Boundless’ German art exhibition ends Thursday in Beijing

Source: People’s Republic of China – State Council News

Editor’s Note: A group exhibition featuring five German contemporary artists closes this week at Beijing’s Whitebox Art Center.

“Boundless: Contemporary Art from Germany” runs through July 24, showcasing abstract paintings and sculptures that blend Western and Eastern artistic approaches.

The exhibition, curated by Ren Rong, features works by Franz Türtscher, Herbert Mehler, Nikola Dimitrov, Otto Reitsperger, and Reinhard Roy. The artists draw from German abstract traditions while incorporating Eastern artistic philosophy.

The show highlights the enduring influence of Bauhaus design principles, particularly ideas of structure and rhythm. The artists push painting and sculpture beyond representation, experimenting with visual logic and optical illusion.

Each work shows a different approach to abstract art. Dimitrov’s work reflects his background as a classical pianist, while Türtscher’s uses color and grids. Reitsperger creates visual illusions through geometry, and Mehler transforms steel into curved sculptures.

“Boundless” invites viewers to inhabit a space where vision, thought and form dissolve their boundaries.

Italy’s Milan Ballet arrived in Urumqi, Xinjiang, on July 21, to participate in the 7th China Xinjiang International Dance Festival. At the airport, they were welcomed by Xinjiang Urumqi Art Theatre with a traditional ethnic-style dance.

Members of the Urumqi Art Theatre performed a variety of ethnic dances, while the Milan Ballet dancers joyfully echoed their movements. Transcending language barriers through body language, they created an atmosphere of “shared harmony through dance” and mutual appreciation.

The 7th China Xinjiang International Dance Festival opened in Urumqi on July 20 and will run until Aug. 5. The event brings together Chinese and foreign groups, including eight international teams and 16 domestic troupes. A total of 52 performances, covering various forms such as dance dramas, operas, ballets and modern dances, will be staged at the main venue in Urumqi and six sub-venues in cities including Yili and Hotan.
