    Introduction

    It’s a pleasure to be here in Newfoundland and Labrador. I want to thank the St. John’s Board of Trade for the invitation to speak to you today. There is no better place to talk about trade than a community of exporters. The sea routes that begin and end in St. John’s have helped feed, supply and build Canada and the world.

    Port cities are attuned to global commerce. And until recently, the global economy had been recovering well from the hard years of the pandemic. Canada, a country that depends on foreign trade, was benefiting. At the end of 2024, inflation in Canada had been close to the 2% target for months. Substantial interest rate reductions had boosted household and business spending, and exports were strengthening. The economy had renewed momentum.

    But then something happened. Since President Trump took office in January, the world has faced a dramatic escalation in tariffs and pervasive uncertainty. In Canada, trade has been disrupted and jobs have been lost. Businesses have re-evaluated their investment plans. Consumers have become more cautious. And Canadians have told us that they expect higher prices for many imported goods.

    The recent announcement that Canada and the United States agreed to negotiate a new economic and security relationship within 30 days is very welcome news. Restoring open trade between our countries is critical to jobs and growth in Canada. It is also important for prices and inflation.

    Dear colleagues, esteemed hosts, Mr Colangeli, Mr Petrović,

    Many times in life, everything seemed almost hopeless – bombing, COVID, many smaller or more personal crises – but life has always inevitably returned to normal. Never the same, but still normal. What is destroyed is rebuilt, what is broken is fixed, but only people remain permanently damaged by the behaviours they have experienced, and they remain outside of the normality that implies living in accordance with natural laws and cycles and in accordance with divine laws. And that is the greatest loss for humanity, but also for each individual. Especially for those for whom unnatural states offer an illusion of fulfilment – an illusion, and one of a limited duration. Anyone who doesn’t understand how illusory those feelings are – I reminded my fellow bankers yesterday – should read the book “The Circulation of Elites” by Vilfredo Pareto or Peter Turchin’s book on the hyperproduction of elites, of which there are more and more, while the seats in parliament, leadership positions in banks, and other institutions are limited in number. There is no room for everyone who believes they deserve a place in the elite.

    And now, a response to my friend and colleague, Mr Zoran Petrović:

    These days
    We owe a debt to future days

    and that time – once gone – can’t be reclaimed.

    We won’t be able to recover what was missed in the first part of the year, but we will do our best to make up for everything that was lost.

    And before I move on to the topic of the state’s relationship with foreign investors – because of whom I put all other obligations aside to be here with you, just as I stand with you through every challenge you face – I would like to share some good news with you. News that illustrates how someone can always create something great from something small and leave it as a gift to the future. As of today, Serbia will have over 50 tonnes of gold in its FX reserves – and those who understand economics know that even the great Yugoslavia, since World War II, never had that much. This only illustrates what can be achieved with skill, knowledge and ability, as well as the determination not to let others do our job worse than us.

    Esteemed colleagues, honoured hosts,

    Let us remind ourselves of Adam Smith, and what he says in “The Wealth of Nations”:

    “It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker, that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest”, said Adam Smith. Everyone has their own interest and views movements from the perspective of their own interest, while the state is the one that considers the common good and works in the interest of all. When we go to the butcher, the baker, or anywhere else, we don’t address the humanity of the butcher or the baker. We don’t even appeal to their vanity, and we never talk to them about our needs. Instead, we speak about their advantages. For the most sustainable form of cooperation is one in which each side sees some benefit for themselves. This is the cooperation that endures. This does not mean that altruism does not exist, but it is most important to rely on predictable interests, rather than on good will.

    When we apply this in the context of investments and policies, while taking into account the specificities of the time in which we operate, contributing to investment growth requires that we first question ourselves on a personal level, and then collectively. If we simply wait for others to provide us with ideal conditions, without examining what we can do ourselves, then we are already set up for failure.

    In Serbia, we have ensured a favourable business environment, and it is up to the economy to take advantage of it – which it is doing successfully. Of course, when the period of the pandemic is analysed from a certain time distance, there will be individuals who will comment on what could have been done differently. Regardless of professional integrity, when evaluating any decision each of us must consider the context of the time and circumstances in which it was made. And that means we should draw lessons from everything that has happened and is happening, and never have a one-sided perspective. If, under difficult geoeconomic conditions, you manage to resolve inflation and ensure high growth in GDP, wages, and profits, while preserving fiscal parameters and FX reserves – I’d like to see the person who would say that Serbia doesn’t have good policies!

    What are the conditions?

    • We are working in a time of sudden and significant changes across all areas.
    • We are living in a time of growing divisions in the world – not only between economies but also within national economies – with increasingly pronounced social polarisation and a deepening gap between the rich and the poor.
    • We are making decisions in a period marked by forced measures, as a response to the measures of others, which were also imposed by necessity.
    • We are entering a new era in which the common denominator for all developments is uncertainty, and the source of success lies in creativity of approach!

    What should the responses be – global and local?

    • Cooperation instead of division;
    • Proactive rather than reactive policy;
    • Respect for the short term, but without losing focus on the long term and on sustainable growth;
    • The common good above personal interest!

    And let us not forget that, as important as it is to make a good decision, it is equally important to avoid making a bad one! And it is well known that investments are never bad; only our decisions can be such.

    Therefore, I will now talk about the investment environment in Serbia, global trends in investing, and our responses.

    Ladies and gentlemen,

    I assume that the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions the National Bank of Serbia is not investment, although there is a direct and strong connection and interdependence. If we consider that a stable and predictable economic environment is the first pillar of sustainable investment, then the association is clear!

    Similarly, I believe that the relatively stable exchange rate of the dinar to the euro is the first association with the National Bank of Serbia, both for citizens and for the economy! And that stability, which makes decision-making and long-term project planning easier, is an important pillar of the investment environment.

    I also believe that the best answer to the question of whether we have created a favourable investment environment is provided by the data.

    • Fixed investment made up around 16% of GDP in 2014, while government investment stood at 2.2% of GDP. After ten years, fixed investment came to account for over 24% of GDP, and government investment exceeded 7.3% of GDP.
    • The implementation of investment projects has not only significantly improved the overall infrastructure, it has also had a multiplier effect on new investments.
    • The number of formally employed persons increased by almost 400 thousand and it is much easier to get a job today.
    • The unemployment rate, which used to exceed 20%, dropped to 8.6%, and youth unemployment rate was cut by more than a half.
    • The average GDP growth rate of Serbia over the past seven years of nearly 4%, and we are talking about real growth, speaks volumes about the environment we have created.
    • Even under the conditions of extremely challenging global circumstances and the slow recovery of external demand, our growth of 3.9% last year was one of the highest in Europe.

    A job well done is always the best marketing, and so Serbia’s image in the world has changed significantly.

    • Crucially, last year we obtained the status of an investment-grade country, a status we have long deserved.
    • And the fact that investors have long rated us as an investment-grade country is evident from the data, which shows that over the past seven years, an average of around EUR 4 bn in foreign direct investments have been invested in Serbia annually, or 6.8% of GDP on average. A record was set last year with EUR 5.2 bn.
    • Around 55% of these inflows go to export-oriented sectors, thus contributing to their growth even under conditions of anaemic external demand.
    • The fact that around 80% of foreign direct investments consist of investments in equity capital and reinvested earnings shows that investors in Serbia are expanding existing projects and launching new ones, despite the challenges in their home markets.  These investments simultaneously bring new technology and more modern equipment, as well as new knowledge, which has also enabled the growth of overall factor productivity.

    And when individuals – because they truly are few – ask us whether we are able to maintain stability without depleting FX reserves, and how long we can defend the exchange rate, I respond with a question: And did anyone believe that Serbia, during fiscal consolidation, when everyone predicted a decline in GDP, would achieve growth? We  achieved growth, just as during the pandemic we experienced the smallest decline in GDP compared to all other economies. These are the results of well-calibrated policies and the recognition of opportunities, which are based on the diversification of markets, sources of financing, and projects.

    Moreover, it is a fact that no one can dispute, that our FX reserves are at an exceptionally high level, measured by all criteria, and they cover nearly seven months of goods and services imports! In the reports of all rating agencies, one of the key elements that positively distinguishes us from countries with comparable credit ratings is precisely the high level of FX reserves, which we have built over the past more than ten years.

    No less important – we have become part of SEPA, for which we have long been prepared, but now we have the opportunity to make payment transactions with EU countries as well more efficient and cheaper. I say payment transactions with EU as well because we have long introduced in the domestic payments, which account for the majority of daily payments by citizens and businesses, the most modern services based on transactions that are completed in just 1.2 seconds. We have also developed a modern DOMESTIC payment card, taking care about the independence and reliability of the national payment system. And what is the EU doing now? It is developing its own card system, not wanting to depend on other systems and their operational stability.

    For our DinaCard, we have carefully selected partners, guided by the goal of international functionality, but also full security and independence of our system. We have achieved this through a partnership with Discover, which will positively impact the economy of Serbia, primarily merchants, who will now be able to accept payments by these cards, issued anywhere in the world.

    Ladies and gentlemen,

    I said that we follow all relevant global trends, including global investment trends. We analyse where global capital is going today as the world rapidly changes under the influence of technological transformation, energy transition, and geopolitical tensions, because investments have never been evenly distributed across regions, sectors, or asset types. We are in a phase of structural capital reallocation on a global level.   

    One trend that stands out is digital transformation and the overwhelming allocation of the majority of capital towards artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, big data, cybersecurity, and fintech. These are no longer sectors of the future; they are the sectors of today, and here, funds from the United States and China dominate. In Serbia as well, the IT sector is experiencing strong growth, as seen in the export value of EUR 4.13 bn last year, which is ten times higher compared to ten years ago, when it was only around EUR 400 mn. The fact that its share in total service exports has increased from around 12% to nearly 29% confirms that this is substantial growth.

    Another direction is green and sustainable investment, focusing on renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydrogen, with funds also turning towards regenerative agriculture. Serbia’s potential in this area is significant, and investments are increasingly following environmental, social, and governance standards.

    The third trend is regionalisation, or investing closer to home markets (nearshoring), as a result of supply chain disruptions caused by the outbreak of the pandemic and the energy crisis. Shifting production closer to the European market opens up opportunities for countries like Serbia, which has an excellent geographic location, much like our DinaCard, which is expanding both East and West. Many companies are increasingly choosing Serbia as a manufacturing hub precisely for this reason, but especially because of the skilled workforce and free trade agreements with many countries, in whose conclusion a great deal of effort has been invested.

    The fourth trend is infrastructure projects and the return of the state as an investor, including investments in infrastructure: roads, railway, energy, telecommunications, and digital infrastructure… Serbia stands out in this regard with strong investments in all parts of the country. I would like to remind you, Mr Colangeli, of the presentation of the EBRD’s Transition Report, which dealt with navigating industrial policy, where you stated that by establishing good infrastructure, such as roads, railway, electricity, and the internet, Serbia facilitated investment and the opening of factories in its less developed regions. Such a policy has contributed to reducing regional income inequality, which is a goal as important as the quality of investments.

    However, one of the important questions is: what next?

    When it comes to the National Bank of Serbia, investors, as well as all agents in the country’s economic system, can count on our full support for a stable macroeconomic environment.   

    • According to our May projection, inflation will continue to slow down  and by the end of the year approach the target midpoint of 3% – the level around which it will hover until the end of the projection horizon.  The data for May inflation, according to our now-cast model, support such an outcome, and I believe the data to be released on Thursday will confirm this.
    • In June last year, we began to ease monetary policy at a cautious pace, assessing that it should remain restrictive for some time yet.
    • Caution is important always, but even more so today when we are witnessing pronounced volatility in global commodity and financial markets. In such circumstances, it is expected that global inflation will decline somewhat more slowly, and that global economic growth will be lower due to disruptions in trade flows and production chains, as well as weaknesses in key growth drivers such as foreign trade, investments, and consumption.
    • In Serbia, past monetary policy easing has fully passed through to interest rates in the money market and dinar lending market, while the easing of the European Central Bank’s monetary policy has affected the price of euro borrowing. With the growth in credit demand due to the increase in disposable income, we have a y-o-y growth in credit activity of 10.5% in April, which is also one of the channels supporting investments.

    Ladies and gentlemen, Mr Colangeli, Mr Petrović,

    I will reiterate that a job well-done is the best marketing, and also the best indicator as to how we will work in the future.

    I will repeat today that for the continued growth and development of every economy and society, including ours, stability and business certainty are key. Therefore, we must preserve stability in a challenging and competitive global environment, where changes are happening faster than ever in all areas of life and work! Without it, even the best-designed investment policies will not yield sustainable results!

    On behalf of the National Bank of Serbia, I can promise:

    • that relative exchange rate stability has no alternative,
    • that we will support every investment that is in the interest of Serbia and our citizens.

    We carefully follow all the creativity of the new era and respond cautiously – so that no measure becomes a target for us.

    And let us never forget those who laid the foundations of the market economy, as I began with Adam Smith: The baker does not bake bread because he wants to feed us, but because he wants to make a profit. May our cooperation continue as honestly and openly as that.

The Home Broadband Installation and Maintenance Agent revolutionizes service experience through two key innovations:

    Customer self-service: This agent supports real-time consultation and self-service troubleshooting, shifting the service model from reactive response to intelligent interaction.
    O&M efficiency: This agent assists installation and maintenance personnel in accurately locating faults, shortening the troubleshooting duration by 30% and reducing the workload of inquiry center experts by 10%. It is now applicable in all home broadband, IPTV, and home Wi-Fi scenarios. Online self-service channel usage has risen by 10%, enabling tens of millions of households to enjoy intelligent services with instant responses and zero wait times.

    The Wireless Network Optimization Task Model elevates traditional localized performance optimization, which relies on expert experience, to global experience optimization using high-precision network simulation and intelligent parameter adjustment. This enhances both quality and efficiency. In pilot regions, user experience has improved by 10% to 15%, the handling time of typical issues has reduced by 20% to 30%, and the test workloads in poor-QoE areas have decreased by 10% to 15%.
    Leading Technical Standards and Building an Industry Ecosystem
    Huawei and China Telecom have improved the accuracy of the foundation model and the success rate of agent tasks, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of AI applications. In addition, China Telecom, along with TM Forum and Huawei, has developed several standards, including lifecycle management for foundational models and technical specifications for AI agents. These standards aim to transform innovative practices into industry-wide frameworks, and expedite the intelligent transformation of the global ICT sector.
    Prospects
    This award underscores the leading role of Huawei and China Telecom in the AI+network domain. Both companies have committed to deepening their strategic partnership, driving technological innovation and standards development, and strengthening the digital transformation of the global communications industry.

    [Shanghai, China, June 19, 2025] At the GSMA IoT Summit during Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2025, Eric Zhao, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei Wireless Solution, delivered a keynote speech titled “5G-A Powers All-Scenario IoT, Turbocharging a New AIoT Era for All”. In his speech, Zhao discussed how IoT and AI are converging and mutually enabling to make intelligent connections ubiquitous for all. “Three elements are key to achieving full AIoT. They are: all-scenario IoT that expands IoT connections to all scenarios, ultra-broadband networks that link all data to the cloud and computing resources, and intelligent applications that are driven by industry-specific models,” said Zhao.

    Intelligent applications are playing an increasingly prominent role, as demonstrated by the soaring numbers of deployments of industry-specific and scenario-specific models. A massive amount of quality data is needed to make these models more effective. In one intelligent manufacturing factory in Guangdong, China, AI algorithms have been integrated into 5G HD cameras to enable intelligent product quality inspection. This has not only improved overall product quality, but reduced equipment repair rates by 20% and saved annual costs by more than CNY1 million.

    Zhao concluded his speech by calling for industry-wide efforts to promote the development of cellular IoT. “We will continue to work with industry partners to develop more converged applications of cellular IoT and AI. We will develop a thriving ecosystem to usher in a new age of full intelligent IoT connectivity,” said Zhao.

    In recent years, as the industry has come to a consensus and successful pilots emerge, F5.5G all-optical networks have seen accelerated commercial deployment. In optical access, more than 70 carriers worldwide have launched 10 Gbps packages, and the large-scale commercial use of 10 Gbps all-optical broadband has paved the way for new AItoH services. In optical transmission, more than 240 networks, each operating at 400G, have been deployed worldwide. Meanwhile, the industry is exploring the construction of 1 ms latency metro networks for ensuring that end users can quickly access computing power over the cloud, enabling AItoB application innovation. Han Xia, Executive Deputy Director & Secretary-general of Information and Communication Technology Committee of MIIT, China, noted in his opening speech, “Accelerating the upgrade of 10 Gbps all-optical broadband and all-optical premium transmission and the development of the technology industry are of great significance to promote the integration of digital economy and real economy, drive information consumption and effective investment, and improve people’s livelihood and well-being.”

    Partnerships, Presence and Possibilities
    Q: How has Art Basel in Basel played a role in your career?
     
    For over a decade, I’ve attended Art Basel in Basel every year — it continues to be one of the most exciting and inspiring art events for me. A recent highlight was having a large-scale photographic work presented in Art Basel Unlimited in 2022.
     
    This year, alongside the presentation of my work at the Samsung ArtCube lounge, I’m exhibiting expanded photography with Gypsum Gallery (Cairo) and paintings with hunt kastner (Prague).

    Q: What led to your partnership with Samsung Art Store for this year’s Art Basel in Basel?
     
    It happened naturally. I was drawn to the idea of my work existing in a different context — one where it could reach new audiences including those who may not typically visit galleries or museums but who are still curious about art.
     
     
    Reframing Time Through Art
    Q: How did your visual and conceptual style develop into something both surreal and poetic?
     
    It took years of curiosity, experimentation and a desire to create a visual language that reflects who I am. Both poetry and the strange layers of reality have long shaped my thinking. Over time, my style evolved as I explored different artistic tools and mediums. Creating something surreal and poetic has allowed me to propose new ideas and reinterpret familiar ones in unexpected ways.

    Q: Storytelling, memory and imagined futures are recurring themes in your art. What drives your interest in these narratives?
     
    I’ve become increasingly interested in how we perceive time. I think that awareness deepens with age — the realization that each passing moment is gone and what lies ahead will be different yet oddly familiar.
     
    Though time is a construct, its rhythms — like sunrises and sunsets — form the backdrop of our lives. History shapes how we understand the past and determines how memories are kept alive — an incredibly subjective process, often told through one point of view.
     
    That’s what fascinates me. It raises questions about what gets recorded and what was deemed unworthy of preservation. What about the countless lives that pass without being remembered or documented? Time, memory and history must always be revisited and questioned. Art gives us the freedom to do so without constraint.
     
     
    Art Without Rules, Technology Without Limits
    Q: Your media include chemically altered film and layered photography. How do you preserve their texture and nuance when translating these physical processes into digital formats for display?
     
    The urge to experiment is what drives me to work across different media. It’s rooted in asking questions and pushing limits. Translating analog processes into digital form is one of those explorations — and with it comes the challenge of maintaining texture, depth and complexity.

    Q: With technology playing a bigger role in creating and experiencing art, how has it shaped your creative process or your approach to audience engagement?
     
    Technology is evolving constantly, and with it, the way we experience the world — not just art. Today, reality often exists simultaneously in physical space and on screens. In the end, I think my lived experiences — whether encountered in real life or on a screen — inform my art just as much as my imagination does.
     
    For me, art expresses what can’t be said in words. Technology is largely shaped by scientific research that operates within defined rules and systems. Art, on the other hand, is free from those constraints — so when artists engage with new technologies, the results are often surprising.

    From Exhibition to Everyday
    Q: Your work is now featured on Samsung Art Store and displayed in homes around the world. How does being part of someone’s everyday environment shift your perspective on your art?
     
    It’s humbling. We each experience art through our own lens — shaped by who we are and where we’ve been. I hope my work resonates in ways that invite thought, emotion or a quiet moment of connection. For me, that kind of unspoken, personal response is the most fulfilling outcome.
     
     
    Q: Samsung Art Store turns a screen into a gallery. How do you feel your work resonates differently in a digital home setting compared to a traditional gallery or museum?
     
    Seeing art in a gallery or a museum is still ideal — but it’s also limited. A piece only exists in one place and not everyone can travel to see it, especially if it’s halfway across the world.
     
    Samsung Art Store offers a more intimate way to experience art. Someone can engage with a piece they connect with at their own pace, free from the limitations of gallery hours or institutional settings. The platform also gives access to audiences who may not have a chance to view my work through traditional means.
     
    Digital representations of art continue to evolve — and so do the ways we engage with them. I look forward to a future where we can project fully detailed images into space and where the digital experience of art might one day include touch, texture or even scent.

    In 1956, a 23-year-old Canadian scientist named Dr. Anne Innis Dagg did something extraordinary: she traveled alone to South Africa to study giraffes in the wild—becoming the first Western researcher to do so. Her discovery was simple but profound: the pattern of spots on a giraffe is as unique as a fingerprint, allowing scientists to re-identify individual animals over time. 

    Today, nearly seventy years later, that insight is powering one of the most advanced AI conservation tools ever created. 

    We’re proud to announce the launch of GIRAFFE (Generalized Image-based Re-Identification using AI for Fauna Feature Extraction)—an open-source AI tool developed by Microsoft’s AI for Good Lab, in partnership with the Wild Nature Institute, to help conservationists track and protect Tanzania’s endangered giraffe population. Built over a decade of collaboration, this tool is already helping to provide critical insights for conservationists to help stabilize key giraffe populations in the region, and giraffes are just the beginning. 

    Why it matters 

    Giraffes are found only in Africa—and in Tanzania, their numbers have declined by more than 50% in the last 30 years. Adult females are often targeted by poachers, leaving populations vulnerable and fragmented. Conservationists need data to reverse this trend: survival rates, migration routes, reproduction patterns, and more. But gathering and analyzing that data has traditionally required enormous manual effort. 

    That’s where AI can help. 

    What GIRAFFE does 

    Our new tool—GIRAFFE—uses computer vision to identify individual giraffes based on their spot patterns, also facilitates automated individual annotations and dataset curation. It’s fast, scalable, and designed for real-world conservation:

    • AI-Powered Recognition: Matches giraffes with over 90% accuracy, reaching 99% in many cases. 
    • End-to-End Workflow: Supports every step of the process, from photo uploads to expert review to seamless catalog updates. 
    • Accessible Design: A clean, user-friendly interface allows both scientists and field researchers to use it—no coding required. 
    • Scalable Infrastructure: Handles thousands of images quickly, processing each match in under two seconds. 
    • Open Source: Available now on GitHub, with tools for both technical and non-technical users. 

    Every time a giraffe is photographed—usually the right side, which serves as its “ID card”—the tool compares the image to a catalog and either identifies the individual or flags it for expert review. Each survey generates over 1,500 images; GIRAFFE turns what used to take days into minutes. 

    “Pattern matching software and computer vision has allowed us now to keep track of thousands of individual giraffes. We take photos of every giraffe we see, and we feed them into a pattern recognition software, which forms the basis of all of our data that we use to understand where they are doing well, and if they are not doing well, whyand we can develop effective conservation actions,” said Derek Lee and Monica Bond at Wild Nature Institute.” 

    A model for broader conservation 

    GIRAFFE’s architecture isn’t just for giraffes. It can be adapted for any species with distinctive visual patterns—zebras, tigers, whale sharks, and more. That’s the power of open science: we build once, and the benefits multiply.

    Windows 365 Link — the first Cloud PC device purpose-built by Microsoft for Windows 365 — became generally available in select markets in April 2025 and is expanding to more markets later this year. To make the experience of using Windows 365 Link even better, we are excited to introduce the following updates:

    Connection Center: access multiple Cloud PCs with ease

    The Connection Center makes accessing multiple Cloud PCs from a Windows 365 Link simple and intuitive. For users with more than one Cloud PC and no default set, the Connection Center prompts them to choose the Cloud PC they want to use right at sign-in. This means less confusion and more control.

    The Connection Center also empowers users with self-service tools to reboot, restore and manage their Cloud PCs without needing IT support. If something goes wrong, people can quickly access troubleshooting options — minimizing downtime and boosting productivity.

    This experience is now generally available, and starting mid-July, the Connection Center can also be launched from the Ctrl+Alt+Delete screen, making it even more accessible.

    Enhanced multi-monitor support for a more flexible Windows 365 Link experience

    For users who rely on multiple monitors to stay productive, Windows 365 Link now offers expanded display settings — available in preview. Users can easily configure duplicate or extend monitors, giving them the flexibility to mirror their screen or expand their workspace across displays.

    We have also added intuitive controls to adjust resolution, scale and orientation — all fully integrated into the Cloud PC settings. That means they can personalize their display setup directly from the familiar Display Settings menu, just like on a local PC.

    With these latest updates, Windows 365 Link makes it even easier to work more efficiently, multitask seamlessly and tailor your Cloud PC experience to meet your unique workflows.

    Making sign-in even easier with NFC reader support

    We have heard from customers that using near-field communication (NFC) readers helps streamline the Windows sign-in experience — especially in environments where speed and security are critical. That is why, based on your feedback, we introduced preview support for NFC readers for FIDO2 security keys with the launch of Windows 365 Link in April 2025. Today, we’re excited to announce that NFC reader support is now generally available. Users can simply tap their FIDO2 security key on a USB NFC reader and enter their PIN to sign in. This enhancement helps organizations improve both security posture and user productivity, especially in shared device or frontline scenarios. To learn more, check out the documentation.

    Cross-region Disaster Recovery is available for Windows 365 Frontline

    Disaster recovery is a critical consideration for any IT desktop strategy. When it comes to virtualization, most organizations consider disaster recovery a primary objective. Since its introduction, Windows 365 has provided robust business continuity and disaster recovery options. Whether for compliance requirements, natural disasters, technical failure or human error, putting greater distance between your primary and backup environments can add an extra sense of security and peace of mind to any IT desktop strategy.

    On July 1, 2024, we introduced Cross-region Disaster Recovery, an add-on feature for Windows 365 Enterprise that creates “snapshots” of Cloud PCs. These snapshots are placed in customer-defined, geographically distant locations, and they can be recovered to Cloud PCs running in the selected location during a disaster recovery event.

    Today, we are excited to announce Cross-region Disaster Recovery is available in public preview as an add-on for Windows 365 Frontline.     Secure by default: New security settings for Windows 365 Cloud PCs

    New default security settings are available for new and newly reprovisioned Cloud PCs. These updates mean Cloud PCs are more secure by default and include:

    • Disabling select redirections, such as USB and clipboard, making it easier for organizations to protect their data
    • Enabling additional security controls, including virtualization-based security, to better protect against credential theft and kernel-level exploits

    These updates are part of Microsoft’s commitment to making our products more secure by default, one of the core principles of our Secure Future Initiative.

    Powering high-performance scenarios: GPU support now available in HP Anyware for Windows 365

    We’re expanding our collaboration with HP Anyware to support GPU-enabled Windows 365 Enterprise Cloud PCs, now in preview. This integration brings the power of PC-over-IP (PCoIP) — a protocol known for delivering high-definition, low-latency performance — to Windows 365, making it ideal for graphics-intensive workloads such as 3D modeling, video editing and data visualization.

    With HP Anyware for Windows 365, users can securely access their Cloud PCs through a familiar digital workspace, while IT admins benefit from simplified deployment and management with Intune — no additional gateways or network reconfiguration required.

    Bridge legacy and modern app delivery: App-V support now available for App attach in Azure Virtual Desktop

    Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) for Windows is now supported by App attach in Azure Virtual Desktop and is generally available, marking a major step forward in application delivery for virtual environments.

Focusing on high-value scenarios such as fault handling and customer complaint resolution, the solution leverages telecom foundation model to build two main types of agents: role-based Copilots and scenario-based Agents. This solution was first deployed in Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces, achieving significant results including a 30% improvement in maintenance efficiency and a 30% reduction in average MTTR. Currently, the solution has been commercially deployed across fault management and complaint handling scenarios in China Mobile Guangdong and Zhejiang, covering mobile bearer, wireless, core, and home broadband networks. It is now being promoted to other provincial subsidiaries, empowering operators to serve tens of millions of users.
    The successful implementation of the End-to-End Autonomous Network Operations Center (Dark NOC) Solution provides a valuable practical reference for global operators accelerating their journey toward L4.     As part of Volga Day, employees of Rosneft enterprises held a large-scale environmental event in Samara and Saratov. Volunteers cleaned more than 140,000 square metres of shoreline along Russia’s great river, removing 50 cubic metres of household waste and debris carried by the current.

    During the campaign, employees from the Samaraneftegaz, Kuibyshev, Novokuibyshevsk and Saratov refineries, the Novokuibyshevsk Petrochemical Company and the Novokuibyshevsk Oils and Additives Plant also landscaped coastal areas in the recreational zones of Samara and Saratov.

    Environmental volunteering forms an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft’s subsidiaries. The Samara group of enterprises has been running volunteer campaigns for several years to collect plastic lids, waste paper and batteries and other environmental initiatives.

    Water conservation is an important part of the Company’s environmental work. The Company’s subsidiaries pay great attention to measures aimed at improving wastewater treatment efficiency, developing a recycled water supply system and the rational utilisation and restoration of water resources.

    Samaraneftegaz is implementing a comprehensive programme to conserve natural resources. To maintain reservoir pressure, the enterprise has stopped taking water from surface water bodies completely, and now only uses recycled water in production.

    The Kuibyshev Refinery is carrying out projects to modernise its production facilities, including its treatment facilities. The share of recycled water in the enterprise’s water supply reached 91.5% by 2024 due to the reconstruction of recycled water supply units, water intake and water pipelines.

    Over the past five years, the Novokuibyshevsk Refinery has reduced its wastewater volume by 45%. The refinery has increased its utilisation of recycled water to 96% and reduced its intake of river water by 10.6% thanks to the operation of a membrane bioreactor at the treatment facilities throughout the year.

    The Saratov Refinery has also been working hard to reduce its water consumption. Over the past five years, it has reduced its intake of natural water by 57.3%. The Syzran Refinery is reducing its intake of water from natural sources for production purposes. The proportion of recycled water used by the enterprise was 95.6% at the end of 2024. The construction and commissioning of recycled water supply units at the Novokuibyshevsk Oils and Additives Plant increased the proportion of recycled water supplied to 95%.

    Rosneft’s subsidiaries are working systematically to replenish the Volga basin’s aquatic bioresources. In 2024, the Company released more than 430,000 fish fry, including the valuable sterlet species, into the Volga.

    The effectiveness of the environmental policy of Rosneft’s enterprises in Volga Federal District has been repeatedly recognized at regional and national competitions. Enterprises have won the «Leader of Environmental Protection in Russia» competition many times over the years.

    Headline: Bashneft Planted Almost 40,000 Trees

    Bashneft (Rosneft subsidiary) continues its large-scale reforestation programme in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The company’s employees planted over 41,000 tree seedlings in the region in the spring of 2025.

    Seedlings of various tree species adapted to the climatic conditions of the regions were planted as part of environmental campaigns. All work was carried out under regional forestry control.

    The Asly-Kul Nature Park in the Davlekanovo District of Bashkiria is a specially protected natural area and an important recreational site. Bashkir oil workers planted 24,000 pine seedlings as part of the all-Russian patriotic campaign Memory Garden. The planting is part of a large-scale programme aimed at preventing waterlogging of Aslikul, the largest lake in Bashkortostan. The action makes a significant contribution to strengthening the ecosystem and preserving the unique natural system of the reservoir. Bashneft-Dobycha employees (Bashneft’s oil and gas production operator) have been systematically restoring the forest frame of Lake Aslikul since 2023. With the support of oil workers, over 100 thousand pine and larch seedlings have already been planted on the territory of the natural park, which in a few years will form four massive forest areas with a total area of 25 hectares.

    The significance of Bashneft’s initiative is also confirmed by experts from the Biology Research Centre of the Ufa Federal Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Scientists believe that the establishment of a coniferous forest in the north-western part of Lake Aslikul will help to stop the processes of waterlogging of the shores and preserve the lake for future generations.

    In addition, employees of the Bashneft-Novoil plant cleaned the shores of the lake from household rubbish as part of the federal environmental project Water of Russia. The anthropogenic load on the coastal area is high, as the water body is very popular with tourists. Almost 22 kilometres of coastline were cleaned during the campaign.

    Over the last 5 years, thanks to the initiatives of Bashkir oil workers, more than 5.2 million trees have been planted on over 1.5 thousand hectares. The young green expanses will soon transform into robust coniferous forests, facilitating the restoration and conservation of ecological balance of the areas.

    Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company implements large-scale environmental programmes aimed at minimising environmental impact, improving the eco-friendly production, and preserving and replenishing natural ecosystems.

    [Shanghai, China, June 18, 2025] During MWC Shanghai 2025, Huawei is showcasing new developments in 5G Advanced (5G-A) experience monetization and scenario-based services powered by AI agents. The company’s exhibition at this year’s event has been titled “Accelerating the Intelligent World” as they intend to meet with global carriers, industry partners, and opinion leaders to discuss new paths for carrier development that focus on creating value using AI.
    Huawei’s showcase is focusing on their latest innovations in three areas:

    Services: Huawei is expected to announce the success of a number of 5G-A experience monetization and scenario-based AI application (AI-to-X) projects they have carried out in collaboration with China’s three major carriers.
    Infrastructure: Huawei is hosting presentations by their carrier partners on their recent experience in building AI-centric networks, and will discuss how to create AI computing hubs that can enable business success with AI. The company will also launch a new comprehensive AI Ultra-Broadband (AI UBB) solution that covers all network layers from home broadband to transport networks. The solution will come with end-to-end built-in computing power and comprehensive performance enhancements aimed at accelerating network evolution towards higher-level autonomy, which will in turn improve AI application experience and enable business growth.
    Operations: Huawei and China’s three major carriers will jointly share their latest best practices and achievements in intelligent wireless network operations and intelligent home broadband operations, as well as AI computing services for training and inference. These practices help carriers build, maintain, and utilize computing power.

    Commercial 5G-A adoption is expected to accelerate in a number of regions in 2025, including China, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Carriers in these regions are actively exploring experience monetization models.
    Eric Xu, Huawei’s Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman, gave a keynote on pathways for driving growth in the telecoms industry. Xu began his speech by sharing observations about the current status of the telecoms industry: “After nearly four decades of rapid growth, the industry has entered a period of steady development, while facing some challenges to new growth.”
    He proceeded to expand on four potential pathways to growth:

    Ramping up for changes in user needs and meeting new demands with high growth potential
    Boosting HD video supply and consumption through coordinated effort across the ecosystem
    Bringing 5G to every car for new growth in intelligent connected vehicles
    Bringing FTTR to micro and small businesses to make the most of opportunities in AI

    “Of course, every carrier is different,” concluded Xu. “Their markets are different, their business environment is different – and so is their competitive landscape. So the pathways to growth are different too. We’re ready and willing to work together, helping carriers explore opportunities unique to them and carve out the right pathways to long-term, sustainable growth.”

    The Czech National Bank ranks among the best employers in the Czech Republic, according to the results of the prestigious Pluxee Employer of the Year 2025 competition, which recognises companies with an excellent approach to their employees. In the national round of the contest, the central bank placed third in the category for organisations with up to 5,000 employees, based on an assessment of a whole range of objective indicators in the human resources area.

    The award was accepted on behalf of the CNB by Helena Dybová, Director of the Human Resources Division. “We greatly appreciate being ranked among the top employers in the Czech Republic.     Lufthansa is further expanding its innovative baggage collection and check-in service for its passengers. In cooperation with its technology partner ‘Airportr’, Lufthansa already offers this convenient service to all travelers departing from Frankfurt. As of today, the service is also available to passengers traveling to Frankfurt Airport by train from the Cologne and Siegburg/Bonn areas. In addition, travelers with Discover Airlines can now also enjoy this innovation – both in the Frankfurt and Cologne areas.

    The idea is simple and convenient: passengers can have their suitcases and luggage collected from their home or hotel. The luggage is sealed, brought securely to the airport and checked in there. Travelers receive real-time updates via a personalized tracking link and a digital baggage tag receipt. Passengers can travel to the airport conveniently and without heavy luggage and go straight to the security checkpoint – they only collect their checked baggage at their destination.

    The convenient premium service saves time, is comfortable and makes travel easier, especially by public transport.

    Interested guests can book the offer via https://www.lufthansa.com/de/de/prepare-for-your-trip/baggage  up to 36 hours before departure. The service has been available to customers from the greater Frankfurt, Mannheim, Heidelberg, Hanau, Aschaffenburg, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Darmstadt and Bensheim areas since February. With immediate effect, passengers at Lufthansa Express Rail locations in Cologne and Siegburg/Bonn can also take advantage of the service: the service region has been extended to include the greater Cologne, Bonn, Leverkusen, Hürth and Brühl areas. The baggage collection service is available from as little as 29 euros, with prices varying depending on location and collection time.

    Summary

    State-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the Kyrgyz Republic play a significant role in the economy but also present potential fiscal risks. This paper assesses these risks through both aggregate and firm-level lenses. At the aggregate level, the total amount of liabilities of largest SOEs liabilities amounted to approximately 25 percent of GDP, raising concerns about contingent fiscal liabilities. The firm-level assessment based on key financial indicators – profitability, solvency, and liquidity- confirms vulnerabilities, particularly among large SOEs in the energy sector, where low profitability largely reflects tariffs set below cost-recovery levels. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening SOE oversight, financial transparency, and advancing reforms to mitigate fiscal risks.
