To enhance the trading experience and empower its users, BexBack is offering 100x leverage on cryptocurrency futures trading along with a double deposit bonus. This initiative brings unmatched opportunities for both seasoned and new traders alike.

Double Deposit Bonus — Earn Up to 10 BTC in Bonuses!

BexBack is introducing a 100% deposit bonus, meaning that when you deposit, you will receive an additional bonus equivalent to your deposit — effectively doubling your funds. For example, if you deposit 1 BTC, you’ll receive 1 BTC as a bonus. This bonus can be used for trading, giving you the power to open larger positions and amplify your potential profits.

The best part? The double deposit bonus is available for deposits up to 10 BTC, offering traders significant leverage right from the start. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, this bonus ensures that your trading power increases without needing to deposit excessive amounts upfront.

100x Leverage — Maximize Your Trading Potential

The 100x leverage on BexBack allows you to control large positions with a fraction of the capital, creating more opportunities to profit from market fluctuations. With 100x leverage, you can amplify your trades and potentially see significant returns on smaller price movements.

    Example:
If you deposit 1 BTC and use 100x leverage, your position size will be equivalent to 100 BTC, which allows you to trade in a more powerful way and capitalize on volatile market conditions.

    No Spread, Lower Trading Costs

One of the key advantages of trading on BexBack is that the platform offers zero spread on all trades, meaning you won’t have to pay the extra costs typically associated with buying or selling an asset. This leads to lower overall trading costs, allowing you to keep more of your profits.

  • MIL-OSI United Kingdom: Go Walks launched offering free health and wellbeing support to communities

    Source: City of Coventry

A series of walks is being created around our City to help families get to know their area, improve their wellbeing and build stronger communities.

Go Walks is the result of a new partnership between the City Council and The Outdoor Guide – an organisation that strongly believes in the value of enjoying a healthy life outdoors – which has built a national network of walks throughout the UK in both cities and the countryside.

All of the walks will be available online and paper copies will also be available to collect from the Family Hubs.

In Coventry, the walks are based around the City’s Family Hubs that provide welcoming, safe spaces where children, young people and families can access services and help, while enjoying fun activities and build friendships.

The eight Family Hubs are: Wood Side, Pathways, Park Edge, Mosaic, The Moat, Harmony, Families for All and Aspire.

There will be a total of nine walks, with two at Wood Side – one is accessible and suitable all year round, the other is suitable for dry weather and people on foot.

Each walk is around 5,000 steps in length, with the exception of Pathways, which is a little longer. Family hubs are encouraging families to get out in the Spring sunshine this Easter holidays and join staff in going on the walk and then return to the Hub for refreshments and fun activities.

The aim of the walks is to link the Hubs with the green spaces in their areas. Showing local families the amazing facilities right on their doorstep – from parks and woodland to social supermarkets, food banks, drop in centres, places of worship, medical centres and primary schools.  This initiative delivers on our pledge to children and young people to help them be and feel healthy as part of Child Friendly Cov.

As well as enabling residents to get to know their area better and see the numerous facilities and support on offer,  the walks will also introduce new arrivals to the City to their neighbourhood and bring people together. Families will be able to connect with their local Family Hub and discover all the free activities and resources available for them.

Cllr Patricia Seaman, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “Our Family Hubs are a fantastic success. Really bringing people and organisations together and revealing just how much support there is for families right in the heart of so many communities in our City.”

“Now, with new Go Walks, there are even more reasons to visit your local Hub, get some fresh air, enjoy our green spaces and discover more about your neighbourhood.”

Cllr Kamran Caan, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Sport, said: “We are delighted to welcome Go Walks to our Go CV family. This free scheme has enabled thousands to enjoy leisure opportunities and cultural venues and has grown to include other offers such as Go Parks.

“I know Go Walks will prove popular and will not only provide families the opportunity to get healthy and enjoy leisure time together, but also show them where help and support is available – building strong communities.”

Gina Bradbury Fox, founder of The Outdoor Guide, said: “We are delighted to be working with Coventry City Council on this exciting new project. Our ethos is to enable more and more people to spend time outside and become active. The areas the walks cover have some amazing green spaces – you’d be forgiven at times for not realising you’re so close to the heart of the city!”

The walks will be “live” in time for the Easter Holidays from 11-25 April and form part of the Family hub holiday activities. A celebration event will take place on 25 April at the Moat Family Hub, hosted by guest of honour, and much-loved children’s TV presenter, Gemma Hunt and Ambassador for The Outdoor Guide Foundation.

To learn more about Go Walks, visit The Outdoor Guide’s website. A series of online guides will also be available.

  • MIL-OSI Global: ‘Adolescence’ on Netflix: Evidence-based ways parents can support boys around masculinity norms

Source: The Conversation – Canada – By Deinera Exner-Cortens, Associate Professor of Psychology and Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (Childhood Health Promotion), University of Calgary

Teenage boys may retreat into a wall of silence as they detect gendered norms. Parents’ persistence to talk with them about their experiences, beliefs and emotions matters. (Netflix)

This story contains spoilers about Netflix’s ‘Adolescence.’

Since its release in mid-March 2025, Adolescence has been streamed almost 100 million times worldwide. The show tells the story of a 13-year-old boy who murders a female classmate after being radicalized by the manosphere.

There has been mass public discussion about the series, including among parents. As stated by one commenter on the subreddit r/Parenting: “I have a fairly standard 15-year-old boy … After watching this on Netflix, I’ve got terrible anxiety about it all … ”

As a developmental psychologist with a focus on adolescent boys, I believe this discourse is important, but the intense discussion can make it seem like these are new issues. Yet, psychologists and feminist scholars have been studying masculinities since at least the 1960s, including among adolescent boys.

We have also learned how to create supportive spaces for boys through research on gender-transformative interventions. These interventions address issues like poor mental health, substance use and use of violence by focusing on how strict adherence to patriarchal masculine norms (such as emotional restriction, homophobia and aggression) can harm boys’ health and the health of those around them.

Here, I offer three key takeaways parents and caregivers can learn from this research, and additional resources to explore.

    1. Curiosity is key.

Many gender-transformative programs use ideas of transformational learning, where the experiences, beliefs and perspectives of boys are used to support critical reflection and change. Put simply, this means when boys say they like “that Andrew Tate shite” (Episode 2), adults respond with curiosity and not condemnation (for example, saying something like: “Why does that idea feel true to you?”).

    Read more:
‘Adolescence’ on Netflix: A painful wake-up call about unregulated internet use for teens

Curiosity, however, does not equal agreement. By demonstrating that we are authentically engaged with what our teen is sharing, we can also (gently) push them to consider how these ideas might harm themselves or others (for instance: “How do you think that idea might make the girls around you feel?”). It is also OK to express disagreement when ideas cross a line, but explain why (for instance: “I am not OK with you calling girls bitches. Do you know where that word comes from?”).

Another thing we have learned is that this style of engagement — while effective — is not a one-and-done. Effective gender-transformative intervention strategies take time to work, and these conversations need to be consistent and ongoing, ideally starting well before adolescence (though it is never too late to start).

Adolescents may also not be the first to engage, so it’s important to regularly and intentionally create space for them to share their ideas and experiences. If you get a wall of silence, try again another time. One idea is to look for natural opportunities for moments of conversation, like on the way to an extracurricular activity, or when eating a meal together (like the lead detective does with his son in the second episode). Also look for activities you can do alongside your child, and where they can teach you something (for example, playing a video game together).

This is hard work, and so finding support among like-minded parents (whether in-person or online) can be helpful.

    2. Masculinity is not ‘toxic’.

Many pieces on Adolescence refer to “toxic masculinity.” However, this is a phrase to avoid, because for boys, this suggets there is something inherently flawed with a core aspect of their identity, making manosphere messages that celebrate misogynistic forms of masculinity all the more enticing. Instead, we can talk with boys about how they feel they are expected to act as a boy in their world, and the ways they might find some of these expectations restricting.

For example, many boys want to share their emotions, and indeed do so until adolescence. But, as families, schools, peers and society start to place stricter expectations on the norm of boys suppressing their emotions, boys may retreat from this sharing.

Yet, boys who are able to resist this norm — with the support of their families, peers and schools — do much better psychologically and socially.

Parents and caregivers can support this resistance by actively asking boys about their emotions (and sharing our own), and giving boys words to label what they are feeling.

For example, in Adolescence, Jamie’s dad does show emotional vulnerability several times, but never in front of Jamie. Instead, Jamie recounts a memory of his dad having a “proper rager” and the type of language we hear Eddie use when yelling at boys who tagged his van (“I’ll slap that f-king smile off your face … Listen to me, you little twat”) is mirrored by Jamie when he yells at the psychologist (“I don’t f-king wanna sit down! … Look at me now!”). In sum, what we say, do and share is key for boys’ positive development.

    3. Boys are individuals.

As one boy in our research shared: “To be a guy is to be human, it’s OK to be sad or upset or nervous and stuff. It’s also good to be happy so it’s OK to show how you feel and that.” Yet, that essential opportunity to be human is often curtailed for boys by the gendered expectations and pressures they feel.

In Adolescence, we learn Jamie once loved to draw, but at some point he stopped. Comparatively, another detective, who is a woman, discusses how she was helped to survive a tough school environment when a teacher supported her drawing. Jamie’s dad talks about how he encouraged Jamie to be “sporty,” while, by contrast, Jamie relays he is not good at sports, and knew his dad was ashamed of this. The messages Jamie received told him that he needed to be a certain way, and when he failed to live up to those expectations, he turned to online manosphere spaces for acceptance.

Similarly, in our research with former incels, we learned that participants found the community when they were looking for online help for their struggles meeting masculinity norms. So, if boys are struggling, parents can help them find supportive spaces that promote messages about the many ways to be a guy in the world, and that match their needs and interests.

  • MIL-OSI United Kingdom: Images provide taste of what’s to come inside new City Learning Quarter college campus

    Source: City of Wolverhampton

The city centre state of the art facility is currently under construction by contractor McLaughlin & Harvey and forms part of phase 2 of Wolverhampton Council’s transformational masterplan to boost skills and employment.

Situated around the Old Hall Street and St George’s Parade area, incorporating a site on the corner of Garrick Street and Bilston Street where the former Faces nightclub building once stood, the development is also utilising the existing Metro One building – it will open to City of Wolverhampton College students in the autumn.

Alongside improvements to the neighbouring Adult Education Wolverhampton and Central Library facilities, the £61 million scheme – supported by Government funding – will establish new educational provision that will enhance skills and employment outcomes for residents across the city and wider region.

It will offer A Levels in a range of subjects and vocational qualifications in art, design and photography, business and management, catering and hospitality, computing and digital, creative media, games design and e-sports, hair and beauty, health and social care, music technology, performing arts, and science.

Construction on phase one of the City Learning Quarter masterplan – a new £8.1 million Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre at the college’s Wellington Road campus – has been completed and opened to students in September 2024.

Councillor Chris Burden, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs and Skills, said: “The City Learning Quarter has been a long held ambition of the council and fantastic progress is being made by the contractors in the construction of this skills and education hub that will open later this year, unlocking future opportunities for all in the city.

“The development is already a prominent feature in the city centre and when completed will act as a focal point, increasing footfall to support neighbouring businesses.

“It’s excellent connectivity to rail, bus, tram and cycle routes also means this inspirational facility will be easily accessible to everyone in Wolverhampton and beyond.”

Peter Merry, Deputy Principal and Chief Executive at the College, said: “After many years of discussions and planning it is really exciting for us to be able to unveil the images of the building and for current and potential students and apprentices, staff, employers and local people to see what the interior will be like and the fantastic training facilities that will be provided on the site.”

The exciting City Learning Quarter proposals were initially supported by investment from the council with a further £49 million coming through UK Government funding, plus additional government grants and contributions from the college and council.

It will pave the way for City of Wolverhampton College to move from its 1960s Paget Road site, which has been identified as land to build much needed housing.

The college forecasts that over a 10 year period approximately 45,000 people will benefit from learning at the City Learning Quarter and around 7,500 apprenticeships will be started.

Its central location and close proximity to the new £150 million transport interchange will make it easily accessible. It will also boast environmental benefits in line with council’s climate emergency agenda.

  • MIL-OSI: c/side Launches Channel Partner Program as Zero-Day Web Dependency Attacks—and Compliance Pressure—Accelerate

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

    • Third-party web scripts are now the #1 source of web-based data breaches
    • Most companies do not even know which scripts are running on their site
    • PCI DSS 4.0.1 mandates new protections starting March 2025—non-compliance means fines, or worse

SAN FRANCISCO, April 10, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — c/side, which specializes in securing vulnerable web dependencies, today launched its first-ever channel partner program. The new program enables managed service providers (MSPs), web development agencies, and security consultants with new revenue opportunities while protecting their clients from rising web dependency attacks and ensuring PCI DSS 4.0.1 compliance.

Through a unified management dashboard, partners can offer c/side’s differentiated web security solutions to their clients with simplified onboarding and security monitoring. Early partners will receive priority access to technical support, co-marketing resources, and exclusive onboarding benefits through June 2025.

Web dependencies loading in website visitors’ browsers (such as first- and third-party web scripts used for payment processing, analytics, and chatbots) are a major security risk to organizations large and small—as headlines continue to show. The most commonly deployed dependencies change weekly, often without a business knowing. When compromised, they can rewrite webpages, change crypto wallet IDs, redirect users to malicious sites, capture keystrokes, and more. Attack consequences range from significant financial damage to compliance issues to potential lawsuits.

“Our channel partners are on the front lines helping clients across industries secure their websites and their customer data against increasingly sophisticated threats,” said Mike Kutlu, GTM Operations at c/side. “Our new program provides our partners with the tools, resources, and flexible business models they need to protect their clients from the quickly-evolving risks posed by compromised web scripts and other dependencies. With our unified dashboard approach, partners can manage all their client projects efficiently while offering a revenue-generating solution that makes their clients’ websites not just a lot more secure, but also run up to 30% faster.”

With the PCI DSS 4.0.1 compliance deadline of March 31, 2025, organizations with websites that handle credit card data must implement tamper-detection mechanisms to mitigate increasingly sophisticated browser-side attacks. c/side’s partner program launches at an especially critical time, as businesses seek solutions that can detect unauthorized changes to HTTP headers, scripts, and other dependencies.

Recent attacks continue to underscore the urgency: a staggering $1.5 billion was stolen in a malicious JavaScript attack on Bybit, while more than 150,000 websites were compromised by a malicious full-page hijack injection.

    c/side’s partners benefit from:

    • Uniquely thorough web security monitoring: Real-time, flow-through monitoring of third-party scripts across entire websites (not just payment portals) with no sampling and 100% coverage.
    • Seamless client management: A single dashboard to manage all client projects without the need for separate accounts or complex onboarding processes.
    • Flexible billing options: Partners can choose consolidated or split billing per customer, tailored to their preferred client relationship model.
    • PCI DSS 4.0.1 compliance support: Tools that help clients meet the strict requirements in sections 6.4.3 and 11.6.1 of the March 2025 enforcement mandate.
    • Advanced detection capabilities: Autonomous detection powered by AI that processes more than 1 million scripts daily and monitors more than 70 attributes to identify potential threats.

Unlike other solutions that rely on sampling or basic threat feeds, c/side employs historical context and artificial intelligence to review both the payload and behavior of scripts, making it the most advanced detection system in the industry. The platform is compatible with popular e-commerce platforms and front-end technologies including Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, and Next.js, as well as custom-built and traditional website architectures.

“With c/side’s partner program, we’re empowering the channel to address a critical security gap that traditional security tools simply cannot handle,” said Simon Wijckmans, CEO and founder, c/side. “Our partners can now provide clients with protection against zero-day attacks while differentiating their services in an increasingly competitive market.”

“c/side gave us the ability to monitor all of our clients’ websites with zero friction,” said Ben Alexander, Director of HomeMade Digital, a technology partner that helps modernize and secure websites. “The platform has been a game-changer for managing compliance and real-time risk.”

MSPs, web development agencies, and security consultants, interested in joining c/side’s partner program can visit cside.dev/partners or contact the company at mike@cside.dev

    About c/side

  • MIL-OSI Global: How AI could influence the evolution of humanity – podcast

Source: The Conversation – UK – By Gemma Ware, Host, The Conversation Weekly Podcast, The Conversation

    Chan2545/Shutterstock

Some of the leading brains behind generative AI have warned about the risk of artificial superintelligence wiping out humanity, if left unchecked.

But what if the influence of AI on humans is much more mundane, influencing our evolution over thousands of years through natural selection?

In this episode of The Conversation Weekly podcast we talk to evolutionary biologist Rob Brooks about what AI could do to the evolution of humanity, from smaller brains to fewer friends.

Rob Brooks is Scientia professor of evolution at the University of New South Wales in Australia. Through his research on artificial intimacy between humans and AI chatbots, Brooks became interested in how human evolution might be shaped by the proliferation of AI. He recently published a paper exploring various scenarios, from AI’s potential influence on human intelligence, to brain size, to more direct intervention in fertility treatment.

For Brooks, the relationship between humans and machines, including AI, mirrors the symbiotic relationships that happen in nature, where one species is linked to or depends on another. Some of these relationships are mutualistic, with each benefiting the other, he says:

I think that most of our relationships with technology should be mutualisms because that why we have the technologies …  A lot of the things that AI does for us at the moment are incredible computational heavy lifting [tasks]. It could be difficult calculations or it could be remembering people’s birthdays – there’s a kind of mutualism.

But sometimes that mutualism can morph into parasitism, where one harms the other. Brooks thinks smartphones have already reached this stage because of the amount of human attention they take up and the influence this is having on human relationships, particularly among young people. He believes it’s also reasonable to assume “that attention and time parasites in the AI ecosystem will influence human evolution”.

Listen to the full episode of The Conversation Weekly to hear a conversation with Brooks about the potential ways AI could influence human evolution, from human intelligence to our relationships and even our brain size. This episode also includes an introduction with Signe Dean, science and technology editor at The Conversation in Australia.

  • MIL-OSI Global: Sudan civil war: despite appearances this is not a failed state – yet

Source: The Conversation – UK – By Justin Willis, Professor of History, Durham University

Over the past fortnight, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have regained control of almost all of the country’s capital, Khartoum. Much of the city had been in the hands of the rival Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 2023. Now the SAF are reportedly driving out the last outposts of the RSF from the fringes of the sprawling city.

When it began the war against its former SAF allies in April 2023, the RSF seized almost all of the city. But its presence was an occupation rather than a government. Looting, murder and rape were widely reported. No wonder, then, that many have welcomed the return of the SAF as a liberation.

But not everyone will celebrate. The SAF claims to be the rightful government of Sudan. But its leader, Abdel Fattah Burhan, himself seized power in 2021 by throwing out a transitional civilian government that was supposed to be leading Sudan back to democracy.

That was in the wake of the popular uprising in 2018-19 that ended the long authoritarian regime of Omar al-Bashir. So, the legitimacy of the SAF’s claim to power is questionable.

To complicate matters further, the SAF’s military success has come through alliance with local militias, whose fighters have been active in the struggle for Khartoum. Troubling accounts have emerged of arrests and summary executions by the SAF and allied military – sometimes allegedly targeted at people from southern or western Sudan, who are accused of supporting the RSF.

The RSF, meanwhile, keeps up its occupation of much of the west of Sudan, and its murderous siege of the western city of El Fasher. It has also continued to launch drone assaults on cities along the Nile.

Despite recent positive statements from the SAF, the war seems far from over. The SAF and RSF denounce one another. Each – with good reason – accuses the other of relying on foreign support, and each insists it should – and will – rule all of Sudan.

    Military dominance

The Egyptian branch of the Ottoman empire created Sudan through conquest in the 19th century. It was then ruled as an Anglo-Egyptian “condominium” for the first half of the 20th century.

That vast territory in north-east Africa was formally divided when its southern third became the independent state of South Sudan in 2011, after years of struggle against the central government. Now it seems the north is also fragmenting, torn to pieces by the ambitions of rival military leaders and the unruly militias they have spawned. So, can there be a future for Sudan?

It would be easy to answer that with a simple “no”. Some might even welcome the end of a state that began in colonial violence and has seen multiple regional revolts and movements of secession. Others might argue that Sudan is simply too diverse to be viable. But its current plight was not inevitable, nor is its fate settled.

Sudan has long been burdened with a hyperactive military. That is partly a colonial legacy – the army has always been at the heart of the state.

After independence, soldiers saw themselves as not simply the guardians of the state, but as its embodiment. They were at first suspicious – and then increasingly contemptuous – of civilian politicians they regarded as self-interested, prone to factionalism, and chronically unable to agree on major issues, from the place of religion in the state to the nature of local government.

    Read more:
Sudan’s entire history has been dominated by soldiers and the violence and corruption they bring

Three times, the soldiers seized power: in 1958, 1969 and 1989. Each time, they stayed in power for longer, and sought to impose their visions of what Sudan should be. Though these varied from conservative to socialist to Islamist, they always imagined a Sudan united by authoritarian rule, with uniformed men at its heart.

When popular uprisings threatened this military rule, the soldiers were adept at temporary concessions – removing the leader of the regime and cooperating with civilians for a few years, before seizing power again. Sudan’s soldiers saw the state as their possession.

Yet they struggled to rule it. There were struggles within the military itself over who should be in charge – the long rule of Jaafar Nimeiri was punctuated by repeated coup attempts. Omar al-Bashir in turn sought to manage rivals in the military by creating additional security forces and setting the soldiers against one another.

When unrest grew at the margins of Sudan, in the south and then the west, the soldiers were unable to contain this. So they armed and encouraged militias, exploiting and militarising local tensions and conflicts. As they did so, they unwittingly undermined their own claim to be the only legitimate wielders of violence.

Sudan’s soldiers insisted the state was theirs. But they squabbled over control of it and pulled both local militias and external powers into their struggles. This made their wars more lethal – but not more conclusive. Time and again, powerful men made decisions that drove conflict when they could have acted otherwise.

    Sense of a nation

To recount this history is not simply to explain where Sudan is now. It is to remember this is not where it has to be. Sudan could yet mean more than this militarised vision of imposed unity. In the popular uprisings, protesters wrapped themselves in the Sudanese flag – evoking a vision of Sudan that celebrated its diversity, rather than treating this as a problem.

Some of that was romanticised or idealistic. The earnest expressions of national solidarity tended to gloss over profound differences in wealth and opportunities. Yet since its independence, the idea of Sudan has repeatedly inspired civilian protest and hopes of a better future.

The local resistance committees whose members made the uprising of 2018-19 imagined a more inclusive and just Sudan. That hope now drives the “emergency response rooms” that ordinary people have organised over the past two years – often in the face of extreme danger – to shelter and feed civilians.

Those brave enough to pursue that future deserve more than a condescending shrug from international analysts, and an assumption that Sudan is doomed to failure.

Justin Willis has in the past received funding from the UK government to undertake research on elections in Sudan; and from UK research councils for research on the history of state authority in Sudan.

Councillor Jacqui Coogan, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: “We are very thankful for everything the Friends do to support Wolverhampton Music Service, and this incredible donation will enable our young musicians to perform at the city’s premier live music venue, The Halls.”

Head of Service Ciaran O’Donnell added: “We provide our concerts entirely free of charge because we think it is really important that parents and supporters get to hear the achievements of their young musicians.

“And it’s crucial for the performers that they play to a big audience and in the best possible venues, as that provides them with the most authentic experience.

“We are overwhelmed by this generous donation from the Friends which will enable us to make it a summer to remember for our young musicians.”

The warning letters include information about the task force’s investigation and analysis of each provider’s illegal and/or suspicious robocall traffic.

“These telecommunications companies continue to transmit suspected illegal robocall traffic, despite task force demands to identify, investigate and mitigate suspicious, high-volume robocalls across their networks,” said Attorney General Lopez. “Many robocall scammers trick people into giving up personal information or into paying them money and it’s time for these telecommunications companies to stop transmitting illegal robocalls and become part of the solution.”

In addition to sending these warning notices, the task force has also shared its concerns about these providers with federal law enforcement partners, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The task force sent warning letters to the following companies:

Global Net Holdings. Global Net Holdings received at least 153 traceback notices for illegal and suspicious robocalls about government and financial imposters and impersonations, suspicious Amazon charges, credit card interest rate reductions, Medicare scams, Chinese package delivery scams, cable discount scams, utility disconnection scams and others.

  • MIL-OSI: Descartes Solution Streamlines Air Shipment Data Exchange with IATA’s ONE Record

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

MUNICH, Germany and ATLANTA, April 10, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Descartes Systems Group (Nasdaq:DSGX) (TSX:DSG), the global leader in uniting logistics-intensive businesses in commerce, announced that the Descartes Air Messaging™ solution has streamlined the transmission of air shipment data according to the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) ONE Record messaging standard. IATA’s ONE Record initiative aims to help airlines, their partners and service providers digitize air cargo messaging services by January 1, 2026, replacing the traditional exchange of documents using Cargo-IMP and Cargo XML standards.

“Lufthansa Cargo is committed to digitization initiatives and projects that better connect our customers to their stakeholders and that facilitate easier and faster transportation of air cargo shipments,” said Dr. Christian Lehr, Senior Director Global Fulfillment Development at Lufthansa Cargo. “The ability of Descartes’ solution to support the ONE Record standard is an important step in helping us provide customers with a more efficient, real-time data-sharing model using a single record for each shipment.”

Designed specifically for the air cargo industry, Descartes Air Messaging™ supports a broad range of data standards and message specifications to share air shipment information across regional and global operations, including Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), such as ONE Record, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), and direct system-to-system connectivity. With more accurate and up-to-date air shipment information, the air cargo industry is better positioned to increase transparency, improve efficiency, and ultimately speed up the movement of freight.

“We’re pleased to support the ONE Record standard,” said Scott Sangster, General Manager, Logistics Services Providers at Descartes. “Air industry customers have long relied on Descartes to provide a strong bridge with their trading partners in order to exchange air shipment information using traditional messaging standards. IATA’s ONE Record project presents a new opportunity to strengthen those relationships by supporting new ways in which air cargo data is shared and managed to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance the customer experience in air cargo operations.”

  • MIL-OSI Economics: A Better Life with Samsung – All Things SmartThings: Everyday Hacks for Smart Living

    Source: Samsung

In today’s fast-paced world, technology is transforming the way we live, work, and play. At the heart of this transformation is the concept of smart living – a world where connected devices work together seamlessly to simplify our daily routines, increase efficiency, and enhance overall comfort. All of this is possible thanks to Samsung SmartThings, the smart home ecosystem that is helping South Africans experience the future of living right in their homes today.

Smart living isn’t just about flashy gadgets or futuristic innovations. It’s about creating a connected environment where everything works together in harmony. The rise of smart devices has made it easier than ever to enhance the functionality of your home, but managing multiple devices can quickly become overwhelming. That’s where Samsung SmartThings comes in, offering a centralised platform that integrates and automates a wide range of devices – from lights and thermostats to refrigerators and washing machines – making your home smarter, more efficient, and easier to manage.

    What is Samsung SmartThings?
Samsung SmartThings is a comprehensive smart home platform that acts as the central hub for your connected devices. By linking up everything from lights and air conditioners to TVs and washing machines, SmartThings enables you to control your home environment with a few taps or voice commands. It’s compatible with a wide array of Samsung and third-party devices.

Whether you want to adjust the temperature, monitor your energy usage, or simply control your lights, SmartThings connects it all in one simple, easy-to-use app. Samsung ensures that your home is equipped for the future with seamless integration across its range of devices – including smartphones, wearables, and TVs.

Professional gamer, tech enthusiast and TV presenter, Grant Hinds, who has had experience with SmartThings as Samsung’s brand partner, had this to say, “SmartThings is more than a smart home platform – it’s a practical ecosystem that adapts to real life. I’ve always believed that tech should simplify, not complicate. What Samsung has done here is take the guesswork out of connected living. Whether you’re managing energy, automating your day, or syncing your lifestyle across devices, it just works. That’s where the power lies – in its quiet efficiency and seamless integration.”

Everyday Smart Home Hacks Using Samsung SmartThings
Samsung SmartThings is designed to simplify and elevate your daily life. Here are some easy-to-implement “hacks” that will take your home to the next level:

    Automate Your Lighting
Set up motion sensors to automatically turn your lights on and off as you enter or leave a room. No more fumbling for switches in the dark or worrying about leaving the lights on when you head out.
    Create Custom Routines
Create routines that automatically adjust your home to suit your schedule. For instance, program your thermostat to adjust to the perfect temperature when you wake up or when you return home. You can also set your speakers to play your favourite playlist as soon as you walk in the door or your favourite podcast as you start your day.
    Save Energy
With SmartThings, you can monitor the energy consumption of your appliances and devices in real-time. Set up appliances to operate during off-peak hours to save on electricity costs, or use SmartThings to receive energy-saving tips and reminders to optimise your usage.
    Improve Home Health and Comfort

    Secure Your Home Automatically
Set up a routine to ensure your doors are locked and security cameras are activated when you leave the house. You can even receive notifications if any unusual activity is detected while you’re away.

    Integration with Other Samsung Devices
Samsung’s ecosystem is more than just a group of devices – it’s an integrated experience designed to make life easier. For example, you can control your SmartThings-compatible devices directly from your Galaxy smartphone, giving you control whether you’re at home or away. Want to adjust your home’s thermostat from your Galaxy Watch? With SmartThings, you can do that too. Plus, the Samsung Smart TV can be seamlessly integrated into the SmartThings platform, allowing you to control TV settings or even automate actions based on what’s happening on-screen.

From controlling lighting to checking your home’s energy usage, all of your Samsung devices can work together to create a personalised, connected environment.

    Sustainability with SmartThings
SmartThings isn’t just about convenience – it’s also about sustainability. With the ability to monitor and reduce energy consumption, SmartThings empowers users to live in an eco-friendly way. Smart sensors can alert you when energy consumption is higher than usual, and you can adjust your devices to be more energy-efficient. The five-day festival runs through Sunday in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and in neighboring Hengqin, a district of Zhuhai in Guangdong province. The events will feature comedy megastars like Shen Teng and Ma Li, alongside international filmmakers including Takeshi Kitano, Aamir Khan, Feng Xiaogang and Xu Zheng. Special guest Dolores Chaplin — an actor and granddaughter of comedy legend Charles Chaplin — will also participate.

The MICF program features stage performances, film screenings, industry pitch sessions, a grand gala night and professional forums at multiple venues throughout both Macao and Hengqin.

Mahua Fun Age, a leading Chinese comedy production company, organizes the festival under the leadership of its founder and president, Zhang Chen, alongside Shen Teng and Ma Li. Other key backers include Han Mei, CEO of Mahua Fun Age; Li Jie, president of Alibaba Pictures; He Mi, president of Damai; and Sabrina Zhang from Joyful Moments Culture & Entertainment.

The festival opened Wednesday with “Peppa Pig’s Fun Day Out!” — a Mandarin stage adaptation by Mahua Fun Age of the popular British children’s series. Kindergartners from across Hengqin and Macao made up much of the enthusiastic audience.

Comedians Ai Lun and Chang Yuan later made a surprise appearance, sharing creative insights and professional experiences with the audience and fellow comedy creators.

Events running April 10-13 include high-profile stand-up showcases featuring comedians from China and abroad. Meanwhile, an expanded film program presents comedy classics, including “Crazy Rich Asians,” the “Detective Chinatown” series and “Lost in Thailand,” along with filmmaker Q&As and masterclasses. Highlights include the China debut of Takeshi Kitano’s new comedy “Broken Rage” and the Asian premiere of the documentary “Charlie Chaplin: The Spirit of the Tramp,” produced by Dolores Chaplin.

This festival edition also introduces a new segment titled “New Talents: Comedy Venture Capital Forum.” Acclaimed directors Feng Xiaogang and Xu Zheng, alongside comedy stars Shen Teng and Ma Li, will serve as judges. The program aims to connect promising comedians with industry resources and funding opportunities.

Two industry forums will take place April 12-13, examining trends in comedy. “Her Way” focuses on women’s growing influence in comedy, while “Laughter as the Remedy” explores humor’s impact on the industry’s future. Both events will feature industry professionals sharing insights through panel discussions and collaborative sessions.

The discussions highlighted a key trend: off-the-shelf AI products often fail to meet the complex, unique needs of enterprise clients, making tailored solutions essential for success.

Among the many insightful conversations, three key scenarios stood out:

Their goal is to integrate their company’s mascot as an interactive digital persona, enhancing customer engagement and loyalty. GPTBots’ expertise in building AI agents with rich, personalized interfaces makes this vision achievable.
    • One of Southeast Asia’s Largest Conglomerates: A senior representative from their digital hub expressed the need for a highly automated marketing and customer data analytics solution. • A Global Innovation Leader in Digital Experiences: A regional digital experience manager described their challenge of optimizing website content workflows across multiple countries. Their current process for extracting, localizing, formatting, and publishing content is entirely manual. GPTBots’ AI-powered solutions offer the potential to automate and accelerate this workflow, significantly improving efficiency and consistency across markets.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Students of the State University of Management learned about the acting “kitchen” first-hand: Vasilina Yuskovets revealed the secrets of the profession

    Translartion. Region: Russians Fedetion –

Source: State University of Management – Official website of the State –

Students of the State University of Management met with actress Vasilina Yuskovets. During a casual conversation, they asked the star guest questions of interest.

Vasilina Yuskovets played the leading role in the successful STS channel series “Ivanovy Ivanovy”, after which she participated in such projects as “Out of the Game”, “IP Pirogova”, “Life on Call”, etc. In 2022, Vasilina received the “Best Actress” award at the Pilot festival for the series “Alice’s Dreams”, which became the only Russian participant in the international festivals Canneserials and Berlinale Series Market Selects.

The meeting took place as part of the VI All-Russian Festival of Student Short Films “Kinosfera”.

We started the conversation with the usual question about the reasons for choosing this profession. Vasilina told a story familiar to every child with an active mother and a large number of accessible sections.

“My mother took me to all the clubs that were in our area: sports, vocals, dancing, drawing, etc. At some point, I said that I was tired of this, I didn’t want to develop and it was time to stop. And then my mother took me to a theater studio, saying, “You always wanted to play roles, did productions for holidays.” I came, tried it and I liked it. This profession captivates people and leaves them in itself. Acting is a whirlpool, but I’m glad that I’m in it.”

Vasilina also shared her experience of taking her first steps in art.

“My first steps were steady, if we talk about the first shoots and castings. I was charismatic, young, stuck up and not afraid of anything. You need to follow yourself, form your self-identity and understand yourself, and I did it.”

When asked what field the guest sees herself in besides filming, Vasilina admitted that she always loved writing and would become a journalist, book author or scriptwriter. Moreover, the actress said that she will soon go to study at the screenwriting department and wants to make her own film in the future.

“It’s really cool that our profession involves mixing different professions. I won’t lose anything as an actress if I also become a screenwriter. On the contrary, it will give me a lot on the set.”

The actress also admitted that she has no problems with fame, she enjoys taking photos with fans and she is pleased when people recognize her. There was no hate or bullying in her life because of filming, and she sincerely wishes that no one would ever encounter such negative phenomena. As for criticism, one should listen to objective criticism, because it helps to make oneself better, Vasilina believes. She admitted that she is her main critic.

The audience perked up when the guest told about her usual day, which is so similar to the life of almost every working person.

“If I don’t have a project, I sleep and rest a lot, I can stay all day. I also walk the dog, scroll through social networks and just unload myself. When inspiration comes, I make some notes. I am a very private person and have decided not to attend large events for now in order to focus on what I am outside of the media.”

Throughout the conversation, the heroine noted the importance of a person’s inner world and the special significance of the ability to be oneself for an actor.

“An actor is not only about acting, initially it is a search: first you need to find the material in yourself, your treasure, which you will then use. Even if now you do not know when you will need it, but this day will definitely come. Someday a casting director or a director will come to you and say that this is exactly what he was looking for. When a role comes, the search begins again: you look for a connection with this character in yourself and the world. And when you find it, this moment cannot be confused with anything. The main thing is when you bring all this to the set, and your vision coincides with the director’s opinion and with the entire filming system – this is great. And if it does not coincide, then this is also normal, then you search again.”

Vasilina also told the details of the filming process, warning the guys that they had to be prepared for a tough filming regime.

“Today, there is almost no preparation during filming, no readings, no rehearsals, no director’s tasks for the actor. Even at the auditions, you have to come as a ready-made character, because the shift is coming soon, everything is ready for filming, and you have to fit in there like a puzzle. If you want to work in this industry, then be people who are passionate about their work and are ready to accept it. At the same time, all responsibility for the role lies primarily with the actor. In order to prepare, you need to listen as much as possible to what they say at the auditions, try not to forget it and then implement it on the set.”

When asked about her plans for the near future, including her own script, the actress admitted with a smile that “actors always have the feeling that “I will be a blogger, a model, a screenwriter, a musician, etc.” only when they don’t have work. When you work, you don’t have time for it. I film 300 days a year and don’t think about anything else. Three premieres are expected in the coming year. And since my recent filming was in the winter at -30 and I was very cold, my immediate goal is to work when it’s warm.”

In addition to interesting stories, Vasilina gave some practical advice on how to cry on camera, why it is important to remain yourself, and what is important during castings and self-tests.

“The main thing in an actor’s work is the ability to transform your state, control it and direct it in the right direction. There are many techniques for this, and some people just know how to do it from birth. If you understand that you need to be active, bright, charged, and you can quickly bring yourself to the right state, then this is already the path to success. For self-tests, you need to not only be in your organic state, but also capture it in the best possible way: with good light, on a plain background, in a way that is comfortable for you and suitable for the character. An actor and a creative person have a billion shades, you need to be able to choose correctly.”

At the end of the meeting, the actress emphasized that it is important not to lose yourself and to live not only on camera, but also in real life.

“To get out of the role, it is enough for me to lie down, rest and take care of my life. Of course, there are those who lay themselves at the feet of acting. But I believe that if you do not have a personal life, relationships with others, a personal brand, other income, parents, loved ones, etc., then everything is bad. The acting world does not expect you to sacrifice yourself. Even if you do, it will say thank you, but will not give the same. Do not forget about yourself, because no one will replace you.”

At the end of the meeting, the actress gave the children autographs and took a photo with the students.

  • MIL-OSI China: US consumers rush to buy ahead of tariffs

Source: China State Council Information Office

Americans are racing to make purchases before a tariffs war between the United States and its major trade partners across the world drive up prices, while some of the wealthiest people in the country publicly condemned the policy as potentially catastrophic for the economy.

In recent weeks, consumers have rushed to increase their purchases of everything from clothing and electronics to cars and furniture, fearing that the costs of goods will jump sharply once tariffs fully take hold.

“Definitely more people coming into store look to buy TV and electronics to beat the tariff increase,” San Francisco Bay Area-based Best Buy’s sales consultant Van told Xinhua Tuesday.

The panic-buying has flooded online stores and big-box retailers, including Shein, Ssense, Amazon, Costco, and Walmart, according to The Cut and Facebook News 8 posts. Some online shoppers reported overnight price hikes of 5 to 15 U.S. dollars on items in their carts, citing anticipation of the tariffs.

“I just bought a TV now instead of waiting,” one user wrote on Reddit. “Prices are already rising on Amazon.” Another thread on the r/carbuying subreddit discussed buyers hurrying to secure vehicles before tariffs increase sticker prices.

The reckless tariffs, including a tariff on Chinese imports which jumped to 104 percent from midnight of Wednesday, targeted a wide range of goods, from electronics to vehicles. Critics said it will squeeze consumers by raising costs on everyday items.

For some families, the shift is already painful. A mother in Texas told NPR she used her summer savings to buy back-to-school gear early. “We can’t afford to wait and pay more,” she said. “But now we don’t have money set aside for fall clothes.”

The “tariff-induced shopping spree” span everything from electronics and appliances to clothing and cars, according to ABC News. Auto sales surged 11.2 percent in March as buyers rushed to beat the 25 percent tariffs on imported vehicles that took effect April 3.

“Now is the time to buy,” Noel Peguero, a 50-year-old school worker from Queens, New York, told ABC News after spending about 3,500 U.S. dollars on car parts, electronics, and gardening supplies ahead of potential price increases.

Consumers are actively sharing strategies about what to purchase on social media platforms before prices skyrocket. Reddit users who recently bought homes considered upgrading appliances early, while others on Facebook contemplated purchasing electronics like MacBook laptops before potential price hikes.

Billionaire Mark Cuban added to consumer concerns by advising people on social media to “buy lots of consumables” before prices increase, recommending “from toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory.”

The tariffs introduced on April 2 included a 10 percent universal tariff and additional “reciprocal tariffs” on more than 60 economies who have trade surplus with the United States.

CBS News reported that the tariffs are actually paid by U.S. importers, who typically pass costs on to consumers.

Financial experts warned the tariffs represented “the largest tax hike since 1982” and amounted to “an average tax increase of more than 1,900 U.S. dollars per U.S. household in 2025,” according to the Tax Foundation.

Electronics could see some of the steepest price increases. The Consumer Technology Association estimated that laptop and tablet prices could rise by up to 45 percent, while smartphones may increase by an average of 213 U.S. dollars, representing a 26 percent jump.

Clothing prices are expected to increase by up to 20 percent, while footwear costs could rise between 20 and 30 percent due to reliance on international manufacturing.

According to an analysis cited by lifestyle blog Cha Ching Queen, toys could see among the most dramatic price hikes, potentially rising 36 to 56 percent.

Meanwhile, several billionaires who were republican supporters during last year’s presidential election have broken ranks to criticize the tariff policy.

Bill Ackman delivered perhaps the most stark warning on Monday, calling the tariffs tantamount to launching an “economic nuclear war” that would severely damage America’s reputation with trading partners.

Even Elon Musk, who has been heading the Department of Government Efficiency, called for “a zero-tariff situation” between the U.S. and Europe during an Italian political event. Musk also criticized Whitehouse trade adviser Peter Navarro, suggesting his Harvard economics PhD is “a bad thing, not a good thing,” on X, his social media platform.

Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone, a GOP megadonor and billionaire, also blasted the tariffs, calling the 46 percent import duties on Vietnam “bullshit” and describing the tariff rate on China as “too aggressive, too soon,” on CNBC.

“The cost of materials for the project I quoted to a client must now cost a lot higher due to the tariff,” home remodeling contractor Jose told Xinhua outside the Home Depot store in San Jose, California.
