    The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) will host the North East Trade and Investment Roadshow in Chennai on February 5, 2025, starting at 3:30 PM at Hotel Hilton, Guindy, Chennai. The event will be inaugurated by Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister for MDoNER.

    Key officials, including Shri Chanchal Kumar, Secretary, MDoNER, and Shri Shantanu, Joint Secretary, MDoNER, along with senior representatives from various North Eastern States, will also be in attendance.

    The roadshow will feature B2G meetings, providing a unique opportunity for potential investors to engage directly with state representatives and explore investment opportunities across multiple sectors. This event is organized in collaboration with the State Governments of the North Eastern States, FICCI (Industry Partner), and Invest India (Investment Facilitation Partner).

    This Chennai Roadshow is the eighth event in the ongoing series, showcasing presentations from the eight North Eastern States—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. These states will highlight a diverse range of investment opportunities in key sectors, including agri-food processing, IT & ITES, entertainment & sports, energy, infrastructure & logistics, tourism & hospitality, education & skill development, healthcare, textiles, handloom & handicrafts, all crucial for driving economic growth in the region.

    The Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat and Viksit North East’ has driven significant infrastructure development in the region over the past decade, including roadways, airways, railways, and waterways. These efforts have greatly improved the lives of the local population, boosting tourism and economic activities.

    The North East Investor Summit supports this vision by attracting investments and unlocking the region’s untapped potential, further advancing its journey toward prosperity and development.

    Previous roadshows in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, along with the state seminar at Vibrant Gujarat, have garnered substantial interest from potential investors. Building on these successes, MDoNER organized a signing and exchange of MoUs event for the North East Investors Summit on March 6, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, facilitating discussions between senior officials and investors.

    The recent Ahmedabad roadshow, attended by  MoS for MDoNER, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, facilitated numerous B2G meetings that encouraged potential investments.

    The upcoming Chennai Roadshow aims to build on this momentum, providing investors with the opportunity to engage directly with state officials. Given the success of previous editions, this event is anticipated to attract even greater attention and participation, solidifying Chennai’s role as a financial hub for the economic growth of the North East.

    The session will include valuable insights from the  Minister of MDoNER and presentations from various states, highlighting investment opportunities and empowering investors to become part of the dynamic investment landscape of North East India.

    US startups secure over half of high-value VC deals announced globally during 2024, finds GlobalData

    The US maintained its dominance in the global venture capital (VC) landscape in 2024, securing over half of all high value* deals. With a commanding 56.6% share by high-value VC deal volume and 64.5% by value, the US significantly outpaced other markets, underscoring strong investor confidence in its startup ecosystem amid the evolving economic conditions and shifting global investment trends, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

    Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “The US-based startups attracting big-ticket deals showcases the solid confidence VC investors have in the country’s startup ecosystem. It is also noteworthy that the US was distantly followed by China, which accounted for 12.3% and 14.4% share of high-value VC deal volume and value, respectively, during 2024.”

    An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database revealed that the US saw the announcement of 291 high-value VC deals during 2024 while the total value of these deals stood at $92 billion. Meanwhile, a total of 63 high-value VC deals worth $20.6 billion were announced in China during the same period.

    Bose adds: “Of the top 10 countries by high-value VC deals volume in 2024, two were from North America while Europe and the Asia-Pacific region had four countries each.”

    The UK occupied the third position by high-value VC deals volume in 2024, followed by Germany, India, Canada, Singapore, France, Japan and Switzerland.

    Bose concludes: “The concentration of high-value VC deals in a few key markets highlights the evolving dynamics of global venture funding. While the US continues to dominate, the presence of multiple European and Asia-Pacific countries in the top rankings signals a broader diversification of investor interest, driven by innovation and emerging growth opportunities worldwide.”

    “We delivered a strong Q4 in the context of a challenging year, with total revenue up 7%, driven by new business growth of 13% in the quarter. From a product line perspective, this performance was led by Industrial Innovation, up 8%, as a result of the wider adoption of 3DEXPERIENCE, with a focus on manufacturing. At the same time, we saw continued excellent performance in Mainstream Innovation while in Life Sciences, MEDIDATA returned to growth.

    Turning to the bottom line, profitability improved in the quarter with an operating margin of 36.3%, up 70 basis points driven by productivity gains, and EPS increased by a strong 11%.

    For 2024, software revenue growth was 6% and EPS grew by 9%. Operating cash flow came in at €1.66 billion resulting in a net cash position of €1.46 billion, highlighting our capacity for future investments.

    Fourth Quarter 2024 Versus 2023 Financial Comparisons

    • Total Revenue: Total revenue in the fourth quarter grew by 7% to €1.75 billion, and software revenue increased by 9% to €1.60 billion. Subscription & support revenue rose 7%; recurring revenue represented 75% of software revenue. Licenses and other software revenue increased by 15% to €405 million. Services revenue was down 9% to €153 million, during the quarter.
    • Software Revenue by Geography: Revenue in the Americas increased by 5% to represent 37% of software revenue, led by Aerospace & Defense. Europe (43% of software revenue) grew by 14%, thanks to large deals closed in Aerospace & Defense and Home & Lifestyle. In Asia, revenue increased by 7%, led by Japan and India, while China remained volatile. Asia represented 20% of software revenue at the end of the fourth quarter.
    • Software Revenue by Product Line:
      • Industrial Innovation software revenue increased by 8% to €902 million, driven by strong momentum with 3DEXPERIENCE wins and many strategic competitive displacements, led by DELMIA in manufacturing. Industrial Innovation software represented 56% of software revenue.
      • Life Sciences software revenue was flat, at €298 million, accounting for 19% of software revenue. MEDIDATA returned to growth, up 1% in the quarter, highlighting progressive improvement.
      • Mainstream Innovation software revenue increased by 17% to €402 million, with SOLIDWORKS achieving its best quarter since 2022 and CENTRIC PLM maintaining strong momentum. Mainstream Innovation represented 25% of software revenue, during the period.
    • Software Revenue by Industry: Aerospace & Defense, Home & Lifestyle and Industrial Equipment were among the best performers during the quarter.
    • Key Strategic Drivers: 3DEXPERIENCE software revenue increased by 22% thanks to major deals signings in Aerospace & Defense and Transport & Mobility. 3DEXPERIENCE software revenue represented 46% of 3DEXPERIENCE eligible software revenue. Cloud software revenue grew by 6% and represented 22% of software revenue during the period. Excluding MEDIDATA, Cloud software revenue increased by 19%.
    • Operating Income and Margin: IFRS operating income rose by 27% at €483 million, as reported. Non-IFRS operating income increased by 9% in constant currencies at €637 million (up 8% as reported). The IFRS operating margin stood at 27.6% compared to 23.2% in the fourth quarter of 2023. The non-IFRS operating margin totaled 36.3% versus 35.9% during the same period last year, up 70 basis points in constant currencies.
    • Earnings per Share: IFRS diluted EPS was €0.30, up 20% as reported. Non-IFRS diluted EPS grew to €0.40, up 9% as reported, or 11% in constant currencies.

Subscription and support revenue rose to €4.49 billion up 6%; recurring revenue represented 80% of total software revenue. Licenses and other software revenue grew by 4% to €1.13 billion. Services revenue came at €600 million, up 2%.
    • Software Revenue by Geography: The Americas increased by 4% and represented 39% of software revenue. Europe rose by 6% and represented 38% of software revenue. Asia grew by 9%, representing 22% of software revenue.

      • Industrial Innovation software revenue was up 5% to €3.02 billion and represented 54% of software revenue. DELMIA, ENOVIA and SIMULIA exhibited the strongest performance.
    • Life Sciences software revenue decreased by 1% to €1.14 billion, representing 20% of software revenue.
    • Mainstream Innovation software revenue increased by 13% to €1.45 billion. Mainstream Innovation represented 26% of software revenue.
    • Software Revenue by Industry: Home & Lifestyle, Aerospace and Defense, High-Tech and Industrial equipment displayed some of the strongest performance.
    • Key Strategic Drivers: 3DEXPERIENCE software revenue increased by 14%, representing 39% of 3DEXPERIENCE eligible software revenue. Cloud software revenue grew by 7% and represented 24% of software revenue. Excluding MEDIDATA, Cloud software revenue increased by more than 40% versus last year.
    • Operating Income and Margin: IFRS operating income increased by 9% to €1.36 billion, as reported. Non-IFRS operating income increased by 3% as reported, up 4% in constant currencies, to €1.98 billion. IFRS operating margin totaled 21.9% compared to 20.9% in 2023. The non-IFRS operating margin stood at 31.9% in 2024 compared to 32.4% last year.
    • Earnings per Share: IFRS diluted EPS was up 14% as reported, to €0.90. Non-IFRS diluted EPS grew by 7% to €1.28, as reported, up 9% in constant currencies.
    • Cash Flow from Operations (IFRS): Cash flow from operations totaled €1.66 billion, up 6% year over year at reported rate with strong cash conversion and good cash collection, offset by receivables up on higher business activity in the fourth quarter.
    • Balance Sheet (IFRS): Dassault Systèmes had a net cash position of €1.46 billion as of December 31, 2024, an increase of €0.88 billion, compared to €0.58 billion for the year ending December 31, 2023. Cash and cash equivalents totaled €3.95 billion at the end of December 2024. The movements of the year on cash and cash equivalents include the reimbursement for €700 million of the second tranche of the bond issued by the company in 2019.

    Information in Constant Currencies

    Dassault Systèmes has followed a long-standing policy of measuring its revenue performance and setting its revenue objectives exclusive of currency in order to measure in a transparent manner the underlying level of improvement in its total revenue and software revenue by activity, industry, geography and product lines. The Group believes it is helpful to evaluate its growth exclusive of currency impacts, particularly to help understand revenue trends in its business. Therefore, the Group provides percentage increases or decreases in its revenue and expenses (in both IFRS as well as non-IFRS) to eliminate the effect of changes in currency values, particularly the U.S. dollar and the Japanese yen, relative to the euro. When trend information is expressed “in constant currencies”, the results of the “prior” period have first been recalculated using the average exchange rates of the comparable period in the current year, and then compared with the results of the comparable period in the current year.

    While constant currency calculations are not considered to be an IFRS measure, the Group believes these measures are critical to understanding its global revenue results and to compare with many of its competitors who report their financial results in U.S. dollars. Therefore, Dassault Systèmes includes this calculation for comparing IFRS revenue figures as well non-IFRS revenue figures for comparable periods. All information at constant exchange rates is expressed as a rounded percentage and therefore may not precisely reflect the absolute figures.

    Information on Growth excluding acquisitions (“organic growth”)

    In addition to financial indicators on the entire Group’s scope, Dassault Systèmes provides growth excluding acquisitions effect, also named organic growth. In order to do so, the data relating to the scope is restated excluding acquisitions, from the date of the transaction, over a period of 12 months.

    Information on Product Lines

    GEOs

    Eleven GEOs are responsible for driving development of the Company’s business and implementing its customer‑centric engagement model. Teams leverage strong networks of local customers, users, partners, and influencers.

    3DEXPERIENCE Software Contribution

    To measure the relative share of 3DEXPERIENCE software in its revenues, Dassault Systèmes uses the following ratio: for software revenue, the Group calculates the percentage contribution by comparing total 3DEXPERIENCE software revenue to software revenue for all product lines except SOLIDWORKS, MEDIDATA, CENTRIC PLM and other acquisitions (defined as “3DEXPERIENCE Eligible software revenue”).

    Cloud revenue

    Cloud revenues correspond to revenue generated through a catalog of cloud-based solutions, infrastructure as a service, cloud solution development and cloud managed services. They are delivered by Dassault Systèmes via a cloud infrastructure hosted by Dassault Systèmes, or by third party providers of cloud computing infrastructure services. These offerings are available through different deployment methods: Dedicated cloud, Sovereign cloud and International cloud. Cloud solutions are generally offered through subscriptions models or perpetual licenses with support and hosting services.

    New business

    New business is the combination of subscription revenue and licenses & other software revenue.

    Amundi’s Board of Directors met on 3 February 2025 under the chairmanship of Philippe Brassac, and approved the financial statements for the fourth quarter and full year 2024.

    Valérie Baudson, Chief Executive Officer, said:
    “2024 was a record year for Amundi, both in terms of results and activity. Our net income has reached €1.4bn and our net inflows have doubled compared to 2023.
    Our assets under management are at an all-time high, at more than €2.2tn, thanks to very dynamic inflows in several strategic areas, such as third-party distributors, ETFs and Asia. We have also confirmed and expanded our leading position in fixed income strategies. The success of our technological services offer was also strengthened.
    Finally, we carried out three external growth operations. They accelerate our development and create value for our clients and shareholders.
    This commercial performance translated into record results, both for the year and in the fourth quarter. Our cost/income ratio, at the best level in the industry, is already in line with our 2025 target. This strong financial performance allows us to propose an increased dividend, offering an attractive return for our shareholders.
    2024 marks an acceleration of the diversification that was initiated with the plan Ambitions 2025, several objectives of which have already been achieved, one year ahead of schedule.

    Accelerating diversification on industry mega-trends

    In 2024, the strategic priorities of the plan Ambitions 2025 contributed significantly to the growth of activity and results. They ideally position Amundi on the key growth drivers of the savings industry.

    • Third-Party Distribution delivered strong growth in its assets under management, +27% year-on-year to €401bn at the end of December and at the objective of the plan Ambitions 2025, one year ahead of schedule; Third-Party Distribution now represents 57% of Retail segment’s assets under management; 2024 net inflows of +€32bn were at an all-time high, highly diversified across all regions and asset classes: +€5bn in active management, +€18bn in ETFs and +€9bn in treasury products; Q4 was the strongest quarter for inflows in history, at +€13bn, with the same dominance as for the year; 12 new partnerships with digital players were signed in 2024 (BourseDirect, Scalable, Moneyfarm, etc.), bringing to 45 the number of partnerships with this type of player, in Europe and Asia;
    • ETFs4 reached €268bn in assets under management at the end of December, up +30% year-on-year, driven by record net inflows of +€27.8bn for the year, including +€10.5bn in Q4, diversified by client segments and between equity and fixed income products; these inflows were driven by the success of the US and global equity ranges, in particular the S&P500 ETF, innovative products such as the Amundi MSCI US Mega Cap and ex Mega Cap, as well as the Amundi Prime All Country World UCIT ETF, which has gathered more than +€2bn in 9 months;
    • Asia saw its assets under management increase by +17% year-on-year, to €469bn, thanks to +€28bn in inflows in 2024, positive in the 9 countries where Amundi operates; the Indian JV SBI MF continued to grow (€292bn in assets under management, +23% year-on-year with +€20.6bn in net inflows), as well as direct distribution excluding JVs (€103bn in assets under management, +16% year-on-year, with 2024 net inflows of +€5bn); 2024 was marked by the success of the partnership with Standard Chartered and the launch of a range of “CIO Signature Funds”, with assets under management reaching $2bn managed on behalf of the bank’s clients in 11 countries, in Asia, the Middle East and Africa; finally, the contribution to net income from Asian JVs, at €123m, increased by +20.9%, particularly the Indian JV (+31.5%, at €104m);
    • Fixed income expertise now manages €1,190bn in assets under management5 via a very wide range of solutions, which we have adapted in the face of the variations in long-term rates over the year; these solutions gathered +€57.5bn5 in 2024, of which +€11.7bn5 in Q4, thanks to a wider range of strategies: Amundi remains, as in 2023, the leader in Europe for maturity funds and fixed income ETFs, and the success of the inflows extended in 2024 to short-term fixed income solutions, securitisation, euro credit or stable duration strategies;
    • technology revenues recorded a strong increase by +33.8% compared to 2023, to €80m, and +47.1% Q4/Q4; Amundi Technology completed in Q4 the acquisition of the European leader in Wealth Tech, aixigo, complementing the ALTO6 Wealth and Distribution platform with a modular offering recognised in the industry.

    Objectives of the plan Ambitions 2025 achieved one year ahead of schedule

    Major objectives were achieved by 2024 and Amundi’s financial results are higher than planned in the trajectory of the Plan Ambitions 2025:

    • assets under management targets have been or are close to being reached at the end of 2024, a year ahead of schedule, for third-party distributors (€401bn vs. the €400bn target), passive management (€418bn vs. €420bn) and even Asia (€469bn, at 6% of the €500bn target);
    • 2024 cost income ratio2 at 52,5%, is already on target for 2025 (less than 53%);
    • 2024 net income2, at €1,382m, shows an average annual growth rate (CAGR) of +6.1% compared to the reference 2021 net income7 of the Plan, above the target of +5%; even restated for the slight positive market effect between 2021 and 2024, it is above the target, at +5.5%;
    • for 2024, the proposed dividend of €4.25 per share corresponds to a payout ratio8of 67%, above the minimum target of the Medium-Term Plan (65%), as in 2022 and 2023;
    • the average dividend payout ratio over 2022-24, at 72%, corresponds to a distribution surplus of +€0.24bn over the period, to which are added three external transactions that also consumed the capital generated over the period to the tune of +€0.5bn; the surplus capital remaining available for acquisitions at the end of 2024 is above €1bn;
    • Amundi has achieved three external growth operations: the acquisition of the private assets multi-management specialist Alpha Associates, closed in April 2024, the partnership with the US asset manager Victory Capital, signed in July and expected to be completed towards the end of the first quarter of 2025, and finally the acquisition of the Wealth Tech aixigo, closed in November 2024; these three operations are in line with the strategic and financial objectives of the plan Ambitions 2025; they will generate by 2027E9 a combined accretion of earnings per share2 of about +5% and a return on investment of around 12%;
    • finally, the extra-financial and climate commitments of the plan ESG Ambitions 2025 have been achieved or are on their way to being achieved:
      • the share of ETFs (in number) meeting the ESG criteria10 of the SFDR regulation reached 37% at the end of 2024, compared to a target of 40% at the end of 2025;
      • the number of companies with which we have engaged in shareholder dialogue on their climate transition plans has increased by +1,478 since 2021, compared to a target of +1,000 over 2021-25;
      • Greenhouse gas emissions per employee fell by -62% compared to 2018 on scopes 1, 2, and 3, against a target of a -30% reduction.

    Activity

    A favourable market environment in the quarter as well as over the year

    In the fourth quarter of 2024, the average level of equity markets11 increased by +2.8% compared to the previous quarter and by +19.5% compared to the same quarter of 2023. European bond markets12were also up, by +1.6% compared to the previous quarter and by +6.7% compared to the same quarter of 2023, reflecting the ECB’s rate cut decisions and the tightening of credit spreads. The market effect is therefore positive on the evolution of Amundi’s revenues over these two periods.

    Compared to the 2021 averages reference for the Plan Ambitions 2025, the market effect is only very slightly positive.

    The asset management market in Europe continued its recovery in the fourth quarter. Net inflows in open-ended funds13, at +€232bn, were driven by passive management (+€111bn) and by treasury products (+€74bn). For the third consecutive quarter, medium- to long-term active management recorded positive flows (+€46bn) driven by fixed income strategies (+€61bn).

    Inflows at the highest level since 2021, more than double the 2023 net inflows, and new record for assets

    Net inflows in the quarter amounted to +€20.5bn. For the year, net inflows reached +€55.4bn, twice the level of 2023.

    Amundi’s assets under management3as of 31 December 2024 grew by +2.2% over the quarter and +10.0% over the year to reach a new record of €2,240bn. They benefited from market appreciation and from a high level of inflows, the highest since 2021. The market and currency effect amounted to +€28.1bn in the fourth quarter of 2024, and +€140.1bn in 2024. The increase in assets under management also benefited from the integration of Alpha Associates since the second quarter of 2024 (+€7.9bn in April).

    Net inflows for the year amount to +€55.4bn, of which +€34bn in MLT assets14,15. The last quarter is particularly dynamic, +€17.9bn, thus representing more than half of the MLT inflows14 of the year.

    These MLT14 inflows continued this quarter to be driven by ETFs (+€10.5bn) and active management (+€5.5bn), notably through the active fixed income strategies (+€9.1bn). Also of note was a good performance in structured products, at +€0.9bn.

    The rest of net inflows for the quarter came from treasury products (+€0.7bn) and JVs (+€1.9bn)

    All client segments contributed to the positive net inflows:

    • the Retail segment, at +€11.5bn, recorded its highest level of inflows since 2021, thanks to Third-Party Distributors (+€12.7bn); Partner networks in France experienced net positive flows (+€0.8bn), compared to net outflows from International networks (-€1.4bn) and at Amundi BOC WM;
    • The Institutional segment, at +€7.1bn, of which +€10.8bn in MLT assets14, benefited from a strong contribution from Institutionals and Sovereigns (+€7.4bn) as well as CA & SG Insurers (+3,7€bn) in MLT assets14, and from Corporates (+€9.1bn) in treasury products;
    • JVs (+€1.9bn) continued to benefit from dynamic inflows from SBI MF in India (+€2.3bn).

    It should be noted regarding SBI MF that the request for proposal, for the redeployment of the mandate of the Indian pension fund EPFO16 has been launched. A significant outflow is therefore likely to be expected in the second or third quarter of 2025, with a completely negligible effect on the revenues of the JV.

    Fourth quarter and full-year 2024 results

    Q4 2024: strong growth in net income2, +20% Q4/Q4, highest quarter ever

    Adjusted data2

    In the fourth quarter of 2024, adjusted net income2reached €377m, up +20.5% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023.

    It includes Alpha Associates, whose acquisition was finalised in early April, as well as aixigo for two months in the fourth quarter of 2024.

    The growth in net income is mainly due to revenue growth and the very strong momentum of Asian JVs.

    Adjusted net revenues2 reached €924m, up +14.6% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, mainly driven by management and technology revenues:

    • the sustained growth in net management fees, of +13.5% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, to €820m, reflects the good level of activity and the increase in average assets under management excluding JVs (+10.5% over the same period);
    • performance fees (€57m) increased by +67.6% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023 (€34m), benefiting from the good performance of Amundi’s management teams, with more than 69% of assets under management ranked in the first or second quartiles according to Morningstar17 over 1, 3 or 5 years, and 247 Amundi funds rated 4 or 5 stars by Morningstar as of 31 December; fixed income strategies accounted for half of total performance fees, coming from very much diversified strategies;
    • Amundi Technology’s revenues, at €26m, continued to grow strongly (+47.1% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023), amplified this quarter by the first consolidation of aixigo for two months in the fourth quarter (+€5m);
    • finally, financial and other income2 amounted to €21m, down from the fourth quarter of 2023 due to the impact of lower short-term rates in the euro area.

    The increase in Operating expenses2, by +13.1% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, to €482m, remains lower than the increase in revenues (+14.6%) thus generating a positive jaws effect which reflects the Group’s operational efficiency.

    This increase is explained by:

    • the first consolidation of Alpha Associates and aixigo;
    • investments in development initiatives of the plan Ambitions 2025, including technology, third-party distribution, Asia;
    • provisioning for individual variable remuneration, in line with the growth in results
    • non-recurring items, including the charge related to the discount proposed in the context of the capital increases of the Amundi and Crédit Agricole S.A. groups, which was reserved for Amundi’s employees;

    Excluding these elements, the increase is in line with inflation (2.5%).

    The Cost income ratio at 52,1% in adjusted data2, improved from the same quarter last year.

    The Adjusted gross operating income2(GOI) amounted to €443m, up +16,4% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, reflecting revenue growth.

    Income from equity-accounted companies18, at €29m, was up +1.6% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. Growth was slowed by the impact of the decline in Indian equity markets on the financial income of our JV, SBI MF, which though continues to benefit from the strong growth of its business along the year.

    Adjusted earnings per share2in the fourth quarter of 2024 reached €1.84, up +20,2%.

    Accounting data in the fourth quarter of 2024

    Accounting Net income Group share amounted to €349m, including non-cash expenses related to the acquisitions of Alpha Associates and aixigo, and the amortisation of intangible assets related to distribution contracts and client contracts, for a total of -€17m after tax. Integration costs related to aixigo and the partnership with Victory Capital, whose closing is expected towards the end of the first quarter 2025, were also recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024, for a total of -€10m after tax. In addition, depreciation and amortisation on adjustments to the value of intangible assets after the integration of aixigo were also recorded in operating expenses for -€1m after tax (see p. 12 for a detail of all these items).

    Accounting earnings per share for the fourth quarter of 2024 reached €1.70.

    2024: record net income

    For the year 2024, the adjusted net income2 amounts to €1,382m, up +13.0%.

    This strong growth reflects the high level of activity:

    • Adjusted net revenues2 have increased by +9,2% compared to 2023, to €3,497m, mainly driven by management revenues; net management fees increased by +8.3%, in line with the growth in average assets under management; the increase in performance fees (+17.3%) is explained by a very good performance of the management teams, particularly for active bond strategies; Amundi Technology’s revenues also grew strongly, by +33.8% to €80m with the ramp-up of revenues gained from the acquisition of 8 clients in 2024, and reinforced with the acquisition of aixigo for two months in 2024 (+€5m);
    • Net management fee margins were stable compared to 2023 at 17.7 basis points, as the positive effects of market appreciation and the client mix offset the unfavourable effect of the product mix;
    • Adjusted operating expenses2 grew less than revenues, by +7.7% to €1,837m, generating a positive jaws effect; almost half of this increase was due to the consolidation of Alpha Associates and aixigo, investments in growth areas (technology, ETFs, third-party distribution, Asia, etc.) and higher provisions for variable compensation, in line with the increase in revenues;
    • the Adjusted cost income ratio2 reached 52.5%, compared to 53.2% in 2023, at the best level and at the 2025 target.

    The Adjusted gross operating income2 (GOI) amounted to €1,660m, up +10,8% compared to 2023.

    Income from equity-accounted companies18 accentuates this growth. At €123m, +20.9% compared to the full year of 2023, it grew faster than operating profit, mainly driven by India, whose contribution exceeded €100m (€104m) for the first time.

    Adjusted earnings per share2 reached €6.75 in 2024.

    Accounting data for the year 2024

    Accounting Net income Group share amounted to €1,305m, including non-cash expenses related to the acquisitions of Alpha Associates and aixigo and the amortisation of intangible assets related to distribution contracts and client contracts, for a total of -€67m after tax. Integration costs related to aixigo and the partnership with Victory Capital, whose closing is expected towards the end of the first quarter 2025, were also recorded in 2024, for a total of -€10m after tax. In addition, depreciation and amortisation on adjustments to the value of intangible assets after the integration of aixigo were also recorded in operating expenses for -€1m after tax (see p. 12 for a detail of all these items).

    Accounting earnings per share for the year 2024 reached €6.37.

    A solid financial structure and a dividend of €4.25 per share

    Tangible net assets19 amounted to €4.5bn at 31 December 2024, up +€0.2bn or +4.5% compared to the end of 2023. This increase is in particular the result of the accounting net income for the year 2024 (+€1.4bn20) the payment of dividends (-€0.8bn) for the 2023 financial year and the recognition of goodwill and intangible assets in respect of the two acquisitions finalised in 2024, Alpha Associates and aixigo (-€0.5bn).

    On 5 September 2024, the FitchRatings rating agency confirmed Amundi’s long-term rating at A+ with a stable outlook, the best in the sector.

    The Board of Directors will propose to the Annual General Meeting on 27 May 2025, a dividend of €4.25 per share, in cash, an increase compared to the dividend paid for the 2023 financial year.

    This dividend corresponds to a payout ratio of 67% of net income Group share, and a yield of more than 6% based on the share price as of 31 January 2025 (closing price of €68).

    The ex-dividend date will be Tuesday 10 June 2025 and will be paid as of Thursday 12 June 2025.

    Since the listing in November 2015, the TSR21 (total shareholder return) has been +126%, i.e. +9.2% per year on average.

    Methodology appendix

    Accounting & adjusted data

    Accounting data – They include the amortisation of intangible assets, recorded as other income; since Q2 2024, other non-cash expenses spread according to the schedule of payments of the earn-out until the end of 2029; these expenses are booked as deductions from revenues, in financial costs, and since Q4, the amortisation charge of the technology asset related to the acquisition of aixigo, booked as amortisation of intangible assets in operating expenses.

    Integration costs related to the transaction with Victory Capital and amortisation of the aixigo related PPA were recorded in the fourth quarter, in operating expenses, for a combined amount of -€14m pre-tax and -€11m after-tax. No costs of that nature were recorded in the first nine months of 2024 or in the 2023 financial year.

    The aggregate amounts of these items are as follows for the different periods under review:

    • Q4 2023: -€20m before tax and -€15m after tax
    • 2023: -€82m before tax and -€59m after tax
    • Q3 2024: -€24m pre-tax and -€17m after tax
    • Q4 2024: -€38m before tax and -€28m after tax
    • 2024: -€106m before tax and -€77m after tax

    Adjusted data – In order to present an income statement that is closer to economic reality, the following adjustments are made: restatement of the amortisation of distribution contracts with Bawag, UniCredit and Banco Sabadell, intangible assets representing client contracts of Lyxor and, since the second quarter of 2024, Alpha Associates, as well as other non-cash charges related to the acquisition of Alpha Associates; such depreciation and amortisation and non-cash expenses. are recorded as a deduction from net revenues; ; restatement of the amortisation of a technological asset related ot the acquisition of aixigo, recorded in operating expenses.

    Acquisition of Alpha Associates

    In accordance with IFRS 3, recognition of Amundi’s balance sheet as at 01/04/2024:

    • goodwill of €288m;
    • an intangible asset of €50m, representing client contracts, depreciable on a straight-line basis until the end of 2030;
    • a liability representing the conditional earn-out not yet paid, for €160m, including an actuarial discount of -€30m, which will be amortised over 6 years.

    In the Group’s income statement, the following is recorded:

    • amortisation of intangible assets for a full-year expense of -€7.6m (-€6.1m after tax); in 2024 (9 months of integration) this corresponds to -€5.7m (-€4.6m after tax)
    • other non-cash expenses spread according to the schedule of payments of the earn-out until the end of 2029; these expenses are recorded as deductions from net income, as financial expenses; in 2024 (9 months) they represent -€4.3m (-€3.2m after tax).

    Over twelve months 2024, these expenses and depreciation and amortisation are therefore -€10m before tax for 9 months. They only started in Q2.

    In Q4 2024, the amortisation of intangible assets was -€1.9m before tax (-€1.5m after tax) and non-cash expenses were -€1.4m before tax (i.e. -€1.1m after tax).

    Acquisition of aixigo

    In accordance with IFRS 3, recognition on Amundi’s balance sheet at the date of acquisition:

    • goodwill of €121m;
    • a technology asset of €36m, representative of the goodwill attributed to aixigo’s software solutions, depreciable on a straight-line basis over 5 years;

    The full-year amortisation charge of the technology asset was -€7.2m (-€4.8m after tax); in Q4 2024, the amortisation charge was -€1.2m (-€0.8m after tax), it is recognised in operating expenses.

    Alternative Performance Measures25

    In order to present an income statement that is closer to economic reality, Amundi publishes adjusted data that excludes the depreciation of intangible assets and,

    • since the second quarter of 2024, from Alpha Associates, as well as other non-cash charges related to the acquisition of Alpha Associates.
    • Since the fourth quarter of 2024, the amortisation of intangible assets as operating expenses under aixigo.
    • In the fourth quarter of 2024, the integration costs on Victory Capital and aixigo.

By creating jobs, promoting regional integration, and improving manufacturing competitiveness, corridors contribute to sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction.

    Economic corridors are drivers of economic growth and structural transformation and are integral to the pursuit of regional development and economic integration. They not only enhance connectivity and trade but also foster industrialization, job creation, and balanced regional growth. 

    In South Asia, particularly in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka the development of economic corridors presents a promising pathway to unlock economic potential, strengthen regional ties, and promote sustainable development. 

    Economic corridor development efforts aim to improve a country’s manufacturing potential by addressing key constraints such as cumbersome business processes, infrastructure bottlenecks, and low competitiveness of domestic manufacturing leading to low manufacturing jobs and less integration with global value chains.

    An economic corridor is a network of infrastructure projects designed to stimulate economic development across and between regions. These corridors typically include transportation routes, such as highways, railways, and ports, as well as industrial hubs and trade facilitation zones. The aim is to enhance connectivity, reduce trade barriers, and promote investment, ultimately spurring economic activities and job creation.

    India, with its vast and diverse economy, plays a crucial role in the development of economic corridors in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The country’s strategic initiatives, such as the NICDP and the Prime Minister Gati Shakti (PM-GS) National Master Plan, aim to enhance connectivity and promote economic integration.

    In Bangladesh, the development of economic corridors is focused on enhancing infrastructure and trade logistics. Notable examples include the South West Economic Corridor, spanning from Khulna and Jessore to Dhaka, and the North East Economic Corridor, connecting Dhaka to Sylhet. These corridors are designed to improve the country’s trade infrastructure, diversify production networks, and integrate with regional and global value chains, all the while stimulating economic activities in less developed areas.

    Bhutan has planned to develop Gelephu Mindfulness City which will be the biggest economic hub of Bhutan attracting foreign investment and integrating with the rest of South Asia and Southeast Asia. Multimodal connectivity of Gelephu with India and Bangladesh will be a critical factor of its success in future. 

    Economic corridors drive regional integration, boost industrialization, and create jobs by enhancing infrastructure, reducing trade barriers, and fostering economic growth across South Asia.
     

    India’s efforts in industrial corridor development aim to boost the manufacturing sector by addressing key constraints like cumbersome business processes and infrastructure bottlenecks. 

    The National Industrial Corridor Development Program, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank, focuses on creating a conducive environment for manufacturing, thereby enhancing sectoral growth. The Prime Minister Gati Shakti (PM-GS) National Master Plan further aims to enhance connectivity and promote economic integration across the country.

    Nepal, a landlocked country with challenging terrain, faces unique obstacles in its quest for economic development. The development of economic corridors, such as the East-West Highway and the North-South Corridors, is crucial for improving connectivity, reducing trade barriers, and fostering regional integration. These corridors aim to link Nepal more effectively with its neighbors, promoting economic activities and development in the region.

    Sri Lanka’s Colombo-Trincomalee Economic Corridor (CTEC) connects the Western Region including Colombo Port with the East Coast to Trincomalee Port, aims to facilitate economic growth through a network of export zones and free trade zones. This infrastructure is expected to boost trade, attract investments, and promote balanced regional growth.

    Economic corridor development involves a building block approach of construction and enhancement of transport networks, energy grids, and trade facilitation measures that connect key economic hubs within and across borders. 

    The transport and trade corridors are designed to streamline the movement of goods, services, and people, thereby reducing costs, increasing efficiency, and boosting competitiveness. The initiative also emphasizes the importance of aligning national policies and regulations to ensure seamless operations and to maximize the benefits of regional integration.

    Gradually these corridors will be transformed into economic corridors by addressing both hardware and software aspects of development. Effective corridor development also entails creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive and for economies to grow.

    One of the key objectives of economic corridor development is job creation. This is a critical development objective for the countries in South Asia.  The creation of formal jobs through the expansion of the manufacturing sector directly contributes to poverty alleviation. 

    By facilitating the formalization of labor and incentivizing firms to adopt modern technology, corridor development helps to increase productivity and wages, thereby improving the standard of living for workers. Government actions to provide gender-inclusive housing, upgrade the skills of female workers, and appoint female board members in industrial node boards, further enhance economic corridors’ impact on poverty reduction and gender equality. 

    Economic corridors are pivotal in shaping South Asia’s economic future by enhancing trade, industrialization, and regional cooperation. Continued investment, policy alignment, and inclusive development strategies will be essential in maximizing their benefits and ensuring sustainable, equitable growth.

    Oslo, Norway – 3 February 2025 – A delay in tariffs on Mexico imports does little to ease the pain for US shippers still facing a 10% hike on tariffs from China in addition to massive increases in ocean container freight rates due to conflict in the Red Sea.

    Latest data from Xeneta – the ocean and air freight intelligence platform – shows average spot rates from China stand at USD 4 816 per FEU (40ft container) to the US West Coast and USD 6 264 per FEU in to the US East Coast.

    This is an increase of 196% and 157% respectively since the escalation of conflict in the Red Sea in December 2023 and is in addition to tariffs on all China imports coming into effect on 4 February.

    Peter Sand, Xeneta Chief Analyst, said: “US Shippers are being hit by wave after wave of disruption and spiralling costs to import goods.

    “They have already faced massive increases in ocean container freight costs due to conflict in the Red Sea and now they are hit with a 10% hike in tariffs on imports from China.

    “You struggle to see how a business can absorb these costs without increasing prices for the end consumer. Given more than 40% of total containerized imports into the US come direct from China, that is a lot of businesses and a lot of consumers who will be affected.

    “A delay in tariffs on Mexico is welcome news but it does nothing to ease concerns over the re-igniting of the US-China trade war, which represents risk at a different order of magnitude.”

    Sand added that shippers have very few options available to deal with the tariff threat.

    He said: “When Trump announced tariffs on China back in 2018, there was a period of time in which shippers could rush as many imports as possible and build up stock inventories before they came into effect.

    “This time Trump has imposed tariffs almost immediately so if shippers haven’t taken action by now, it’s already too late. Shippers may well look at shifting supply chains out of China into nations such as India or South East Asia, but this takes time, financial investment and deep understanding of market data and intelligence.

    “The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas raised the prospect of a better year for shippers in 2025 if a large scale return of container ships to the Red Sea sees freight rates fall. Trump’s latest move has dented those hopes because any gains a shipper makes through lower freight rates will be more than offset by a 10% increase in tariffs.

    “If China retaliates and we enter another escalating trade war, an already very bad situation will get even worse for US importers.”

  • MIL-OSI Global: U.S. tariff threat: How it will impact different products and industries

    U.S. President Donald Trump has agreed to pause his planned tariffs on Canada and Mexico for at least 30 days following talks with the leaders of both countries. Previously, a senior Canadian governmental official had said Trump’s 25 per cent tariff on most Canadian goods was expected to come into effect on Feb. 4.

    If implemented, this tariff will have significant economic consequences on both sides of the border, as the U.S. and Canada share one of the largest bilateral trade relationships in the world.

    A key concern is the highly integrated supply chains between the two countries. Many goods cross the border multiple times as intermediate inputs before becoming final products. Imposing tariffs at any point in this supply chain will raise production costs and increase prices for a wide range of goods traded between the U.S. and Canada.

    For Canada, the tariffs on Canadian products will significantly affect Canada’s competitiveness in the U.S. market by driving up prices. Such tariffs could pose serious challenges for various sectors in Canada, given the country’s heavy reliance on the U.S. economy.

    Effects on different sectors

    The impact of U.S. tariffs on Canadian prices is likely to differ across sectors and products, depending on their reliance on the U.S. market.

    Sectors with a higher dependence on U.S. trade are likely to experience more severe disruptions. If the tariffs make certain products uncompetitive, Canadian producers may struggle to secure alternative markets in the short term.

    Industries such as agriculture, manufacturing and energy will experience varying degrees of impact. Energy products and motor vehicles, which represent Canada’s largest exports to the U.S., are expected to be among the most adversely affected.

    In the agricultural and forestry sector, wood and paper products, along with cereals, are among Canada’s largest exports to the U.S., with the U.S. accounting for 86 to 96 per cent of these exports, according to data from the World Integrated Trade Solution.

    In the energy and mineral sector, crude oil is Canada’s top export, reaching US$143 billion in 2023, with 90 per cent destined for the U.S. Given its critical role as Canada’s largest export across all sectors, it is not surprising that Trump has noted crude oil would be subject to a lower tariff of 10 per cent.

    Canada’s dependence on U.S. trade

    When examining the impact on different products, it’s not only the value of trade that matters, but also the share of trade. The share of trade indicates how reliant Canada is on the U.S. compared to other markets.

    A high trade share with the U.S. suggests a product is particularly vulnerable to trade disruptions, as Canada depends heavily on the U.S. market for that product. Conversely, a lower share indicates that Canada has diversified suppliers, which reduces its dependence on the U.S.

    For instance, in 2023, Canada’s top exports to the U.S. included vehicles and parts, nuclear machinery and plastics, according to data from the World Integrated Trade Solution. The U.S. accounted for 93 per cent of vehicle and parts exports, 82 per cent of nuclear machinery exports, and 91 per cent of plastics exports.

    This data highlights Canada’s extreme dependence on the U.S. market, making these industries within the manufacturing sector highly susceptible to the tariff. This could harm jobs in the manufacturing sector, which is vital to employment in Canada, providing jobs for over 1.8 million people.

    Canada’s reliance on the U.S. is also evident in imports. In 2023, vehicle imports totalled US$92 billion, with the U.S. accounting for 58 per cent of that amount.

    The dependence is also evident in the agri-food and forestry sector, where Canada heavily relies on U.S. imports. This suggests that retaliatory tariffs on agricultural goods from the U.S. could have a substantial impact on food prices in Canada.

    Retaliatory tariffs and inflationary pressures

    Canada has announced it’s imposing $155 billion of retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports in response. This could contribute to inflationary pressures within Canada.

    Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says this includes immediate tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods as of Tuesday, followed by further tariffs on $125 billion worth of American products in 21 days’ time to “allow Canadian companies and supply chains to seek to find alternatives.”

    This will include tariffs on “everyday items such as American beer, wine and bourbon, fruits and fruit juices, including orange juice, along with vegetables, perfume, clothing and shoes,” and also on major consumer products like household appliances, furniture and sports equipment, and materials like lumber and plastics.

    Given Canada’s significant dependence on U.S. imports, the retaliatory tariffs will raise the cost of American goods entering the country, further driving up consumer prices and exacerbating inflation.

    In its latest policy rate announcement, the Bank of Canada warned of the severe economic consequences of Trump’s tariffs, highlighting their potential to reverse the current downward trend in inflation.

    What should Canada do now?

    Canada must extend its economic diplomacy efforts beyond the Trump administration, engaging with the U.S. Congress and Senate to advocate for the reconsideration of tariffs on Canadian goods. The Canadian government should persist in leveraging this channel to push for a reversal of the tariffs. This kind of broader negotiation remains the most effective approach to mitigating trade tensions and ensuring stable economic relations with the U.S.

    At the same time, Canada must reduce dependence on the U.S. market by adopting a comprehensive export diversification strategy. While the U.S. remains a convenient and accessible trade partner, expanding into emerging and developing markets would help mitigate risks and create more stable long-term trade opportunities.

    One effective way to achieve export diversification is by expanding free trade agreements (FTAs) with emerging and developing economies. Currently, Canada has 15 FTAs covering about 51 countries, but there is room for expansion. However, signing FTAs alone is insufficient; Canada must ensure these agreements translate into tangible trade growth with partner countries.

    International politics is increasingly shaping global trade, making it imperative for Canada to proactively manage diplomatic and trade relations. In recent years, tensions have emerged with key partners such as China, India and Saudi Arabia. These countries could all become potential markets for Canadian products. Given that China is Canada’s second-largest export destination, there is significant potential to expand trade ties.

    Additionally, countries like the United Arab Emirates present promising markets, particularly for agricultural products, as the UAE imports about 90 per cent of its food.

    Boosting innovation and productivity

    Canada stands at a critical juncture in its trade relationship with the U.S. While diplomatic efforts remain essential to averting harmful tariffs, they cannot be the country’s only line of defence.

    Boosting productivity is one of the most effective ways for Canada to improve its competitiveness in global markets. Canadian producers should prioritize innovation and the adoption of advanced technologies to enhance efficiency and maintain a competitive edge, particularly as they seek to expand beyond the U.S.

    In response to potential U.S. tariffs, the Canadian government should implement a bailout strategy to provide short-term relief and mitigate revenue losses to firms that will be mostly affected. Additionally, Canada should leverage its embassies and consulates worldwide to promote exports and help affected firms identify and access new market opportunities.

    By doing this, Canada can position itself as a more self-reliant and competitive player in the global economy — one less vulnerable to shifting U.S. policies.

  • MIL-OSI Security: U.S. Attorney’s Office Secures Guilty Plea from Dulce Man in Domestic Violence Case

    ALBUQUERQUE – A Dulce man pleaded guilty to two counts of assault of an intimate partner by strangling and suffocating.

    According to court documents, Chalmers Dedios, 32, an enrolled member of the Jicarilla Apache Nation Indian Tribe, admitted to assaulting Jane Doe twice in February 2024, including strangling her to unconsciousness.

    At sentencing, Dedios faces up to 10 years in prison, followed by three years supervised release.

    U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez made the announcement today.

    The Jicarilla Apache Police Department investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jesse Pecoraro is prosecuting the case.

    WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and U.S. Representative Teresa Leger Fernández sent a letter to President Trump demanding immediate action to address reports of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents harassing, detaining, and questioning Native American Tribal members about their citizenship. The lawmakers condemned these actions as unconstitutional and a violation of Tribal sovereignty, calling for swift action to end racial profiling and protect Native communities. 

    In their letter, the lawmakers highlighted a confirmed incident in New Mexico where an ICE agent harassed a Tribal citizen at a convenience store, questioning their citizenship.

    “Native American Tribal members are United States citizens. Stopping people because of what they look like – with dark skin, Asian, Latino or Native American characteristics is never acceptable,” the lawmakers wrote. “ICE’s dangerous behavior of harassing American citizens, seemingly only due to the way they look, is unconstitutional and un-American.”

    The lawmakers also raised alarm about additional reports of ICE agents targeting Native Americans in multiple states, saying, “Your Administration’s actions and policies are quickly spreading fear in communities that have existed since time immemorial. It is unconscionable to question their citizenship and cause them to live in fear.”

    The lawmakers emphasized the historical and legal context, reminding the Administration that the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924 granted citizenship to all Native Americans. “Native communities are quintessentially American communities.”

    The lawmakers called on the Trump Administration to take immediate action to:

    The lawmakers also condemned President Trump’s recent statement suggesting that immigration enforcement should target people based on their appearance. “Your recent statement that you can tell an immigrant who is ‘trouble’ by the way they ‘look’ suggests that sending ICE agents after our communities is about the color of a person’s skin, not their immigration status,” the lawmakers stated in their letter.

    “It is unconscionable to question [Native Communities’] citizenship and cause them to live in fear,” the lawmakers wrote. “You must put a stop to ICE agents targeting Native Americans.”

    The letter was led by U.S. Representative Teresa Leger Fernández. Alongside Heinrich the letter was signed by U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), and U.S. Representatives Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.), Gabe Vasquez (D-N.M.), Jared Huffman (D-Calif.), Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), and Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.).

    The third Amrit Snan on the occasion of Basant Panchami was successfully completed during the Mahakumbh 2025, at Prayagraj. Millions of devotees took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. The Kumbh Mela showcases not only faith, trust, and devotion but also unity, equality, and cultural diversity in its purest form.

     

    According to statistics released by the State government, by 6 PM on Basant Panchami, a total of 2.33 crore devotees had taken a dip in the holy Triveni Sangam. Devotees from India and abroad, united by the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, participated in the sacred bathing ritual. Sadhu-sants, yogis, scholars, and devotees from various countries also took part in this divine event, making it a truly universal festival.

     

     

    The significance of this auspicious day prompted devotees to begin arriving at the Sangam area from the previous night. The event was made successful with the contribution of the Kumbh Mela administration, local administration, police, sanitation workers, volunteers, boatmen, and all government departments, ensuring the safe and smooth conduct of this historical event.

     

     

    Special cleanliness arrangements were made for the third Amrit Snan on Vasant Panchami, with the goal of maintaining a clean and safe environment. To achieve this, 15,000 sanitation workers and over 2,500 Ganga Seva Doots worked tirelessly. Special cleaning was also arranged for the paths leading to the akhadas to ensure the comfort of both saints and devotees. Quick Response Teams (QRT) were stationed throughout the area to ensure immediate cleanliness, swiftly removing waste from the mela grounds. Water sprinkling and cleaning of the Sangam were carried out with the help of boatmen and steamers.

    The Kumbh Mela 2025 has succeeded in promoting India’s cultural heritage on an international level. The event’s popularity and cultural significance are being recognized globally, with foreign devotees deeply impressed by Indian culture and traditions, experiencing both the sacred Ganga Snan and India’s religious and cultural practices.

  • MIL-OSI Asia-Pac: International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) officially comes into force as a full-fledged Treaty based Inter-governmental International Organization

    In a major development, the Framework Agreement on establishment of the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) has officially come into force. From 23rd January, 2025, the IBCA and its Secretariat have become a full-fledged treaty based inter-governmental international organization and international legal entity.

    To this effect, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India (the Depository of the Framework Agreement) has confirmed that five countries – Republic of Nicaragua, Kingdom of Eswatini, Republic of India, Federal Republic of Somalia and Republic of Liberia – have deposited the instruments of ratification/acceptance/approval, under the Article VIII (1) of the Framework Agreement.

    As of now, 27 countries including India have consented to join IBCA and several international/national organisations working in the field of wildlife conservation have also partnered with IBCA. The five countries mentioned above have signed the Framework Agreement to formally become members of the IBCA.

    About the IBCA

    The IBCA was launched by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 9th April,2023, during the event ‘Commemorating 50 years of Project Tiger’. The Union Cabinet, in its meeting held on 29th February 2024, approved the establishment of IBCA with headquarters in India. It was launched with the aim of conservation of seven big cats – Tiger, Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Cheetah, Jaguar and Puma – with membership of all UN countries/the range countries harbouring the said species and non-range countries where historically these species are not found but interested to support big cat conservation.

    The IBCA was established by Government of India, through the nodal organisation viz., National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), vide order dated 12th March, 2024. The primary objective of IBCA is to facilitate collaboration and synergy among stakeholders, consolidating successful conservation practices and expertise to achieve a common goal of conservation of big cats at global level. This unified approach, bolstered by financial support, aims to bolster the conservation agenda, halt the decline in big cat populations, and reverse current trends.

    IBCA envisages synergy through a collaborative platform for increased dissemination of gold standard big cat conservation practices, provides access to a central common repository of technical know-how and corpus of funds, strengthens the existing species-specific intergovernmental platforms, networks and transnational initiatives on conservation and protection and assists securing our ecological future and mitigate adverse effects of climate change.

    The Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Sri Sandeep Poundrik, chaired a high-level stakeholders’ meeting today to discuss the upcoming ‘India Steel 2025’ event, scheduled to take place on April 24-26, 2025. The meeting was attended by senior Government officials, Ambassadors of Nations important in the steel value chain and representatives of key States, Chairman and Managing Directors (CMDs) of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and senior officers of leading private industries also participated in the Meeting.

    The ‘India Steel 2025’ is an international exhibition-cum-conference aimed at providing a strategic platform for industry stakeholders, policymakers, and business leaders. The event will showcase India’s thriving steel sector while addressing key challenges and emerging opportunities shaping the industry’s future.

    Key Highlights of India Steel 2025:

    In pursuance of the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, the Sub-Committee on Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) vide its order dated 29.01.2025 invoked GRAP Stage-III when the average AQI of Delhi started to exhibit a sharp increasing trend and breached the 350 mark on the same day.

    Today, Delhi’s average AQI has significantly improved as the AQI of the day clocked 286 today as per the AQI Bulletin provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), clearly indicating a downward trend. Noting a downward trend in the AQI levels of Delhi, the CAQM Sub-Committee on GRAP met today to review the current air quality scenario in the region as well as the forecasts for meteorological conditions and air quality index made available by IMD/ IITM and accordingly take an appropriate call on the preventive/ restrictive actions under Stage-III of GRAP in place in the entire National Capital Region (NCR) since 29.01.2025.

    While comprehensively reviewing the overall air quality parameters of Delhi-NCR, the Sub-Committee observed as under:

    • Owing to improvement in mixing height and ventilation coefficient and much favourable meteorological conditions for dispersion of pollutants, the AQI of Delhi has shown a significant improvement.
    • The AQI of Delhi has been recorded as 286 for 03.02.2025 which is 64 points below the 350 mark to implement the Stage-III as per the extant directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Further, the forecast by IMD predicts very light rain/ drizzle and favourable wind conditions in the days to come. 

    Therefore, keeping in view the disruptive nature of restrictions under Stage-III of GRAP, impacting a large number of stakeholders and public as well as considering the trend of improvement in the average AQI of Delhi and also the forecasts by IMD/ IITM indicating the likelihood of the average AQI of Delhi to stay in ‘Poor’/ lower end ‘Very Poor’ category in the coming days, the CAQM Sub-Committee on GRAP today unanimously decided to revoke all actions under Stage-III of the extant schedule of GRAP in the entire NCR, with immediate effect.

    Further, all actions under Stages II & I of the extant schedule of GRAP shall however remain invoked and be implemented, monitored and reviewed by all agencies concerned in the entire NCR to ensure that the AQI levels do not rise further in the coming days. Agencies shall keep strict vigil and especially intensify measures under Stages II & I of the extant schedule of GRAP in order to obviate the need for re-implementation of Stage-III of GRAP actions in NCR.

    Construction and Demolition project sites etc. which have been issued specific closure orders on account of violations/ non-compliances of various statutory directions, rules, guidelines etc. under no circumstances shall resume their operations without any specific order to this effect from the Commission.

    While GRAP Stage-III is being revoked, keeping in view the winter season when weather conditions may not be always favourable and in order to ensure that the AQI levels do not slip further, citizens are requested to strictly adhere to the citizen charter under Stages II and I of the extant schedule of GRAP.

    The Sub-Committee, shall keep a close watch on the air quality scenario and review the situation from time to time for further appropriate decisions depending upon the air quality in Delhi and forecast for meteorological conditions and air quality index made available by IMD/ IITM.

    The Nominated Authority, Ministry of Coal today opened the bids for the 11th round of commercial coal mines’ auction. This round received unprecedented responses from the bidders. Bids have been received for 20 coal mines out of offered 27 coal mines.

    The online bids were decrypted and opened electronically in the presence of the bidders. Subsequently, sealed envelopes containing offline bid documents were also opened in the presence of bidders. Entire process was displayed on the screen for the bidders. Under this round, only 70 bids have been received online, however, 72 bids have been received in physical form.

    A total of 65 bids were received against 15 coal mines offered in the 11th round. Under 2nd Attempt of 10th round, a total of 7 coal mines were put up for auction and 5 bids received against 5 coal mines with each mine receiving 1 bid each.

     Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla said today that robust and time-tested friendship between India and Russia serves as a shining example of cooperation and diplomacy for the world to emulate. Highlighting historic and deep-rooted friendship between the two countries, he noted that India-Russia bilateral ties are seen as very special at global stage. He observed that the relationship between the two nations are centuries old and that Russia has been India’s closest ally since independence.

    Shri Birla made these observations during the visit of a Russian Parliamentary delegation led by H.E. Mr. Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, to the Parliament House today.

    Congratulating Russia on a very fruitful and substantial chairmanship of the BRICS in 2024 and recalling his visit to the BRICS Parliamentary Summit in St. Petersburg in 2024, Shri Birla underscored the importance of such exchanges in strengthening parliamentary processes and deepening ties.

    He was happy to note that the Russian delegation had witnessed the proceedings of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, providing them with insights into India’s democratic functioning.

    Shri Birla also provided an overview of India’s Parliamentary Committee System, describing them as “Mini-Parliament” where budgetary matters and key issues are examined in detail. He emphasized that Committees function in a non-partisan manner, enabling thorough discussions that are often constrained in the larger House due to time limitations and the broad scope of issues.

    Referring to India’s 75th year as a Republic, Shri Birla reflected on the nation’s journey since independence and the visionary efforts of the Constitution’s founding fathers in securing equality for all citizens. He informed the visiting delegation about the progress made by India in these years, strengthening Constitutional values.

    Shri Birla further highlighted the robust cooperation between the Parliaments of India and Russia, citing frequent engagements at various levels, including multilateral platforms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the BRICS Parliamentary Forum, and the G-20. He warmly recalled his participation in the BRICS Parliamentary Summit in St. Petersburg, where he had the opportunity to engage with Russian parliamentary leaders.

     He also underlined the role of mutual trust and respect in further strengthening India-Russia relations, which have evolved into a Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership encompassing political, strategic, and cultural cooperation. Stating that India and Russia enjoy vibrant ties in multilateral domain, he noted that the people-to-people ties between the two nations have provided a solid foundation for this comprehensive partnership. He expressed confidence that the current visit would further strengthen bilateral relations, fostering mutual growth and prosperity.

    H.E. Mr. Vyacheslav Volodin thanked Shri Birla for the warm welcome extended to his delegation. He said that observing parliamentary proceedings in a multi-party democracy like India was a great learning. He lauded the longstanding India-Russia partnership, which continues to be nurtured through the close ties shared by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin. Congratulating India on 75 years of Indian republic, Mr. Volodin also commended India’s remarkable economic growth, acknowledging the country’s emergence as a global power in last 75 years.     Civil nuclear energy will ensure a significant contribution to the country’s development in future.

    Introduction

    The Union Budget 2025-26 outlines a significant push towards nuclear energy as part of India’s long-term energy transition strategy. The government has set an ambitious target of 100 GW nuclear power capacity by 2047, positioning nuclear energy as a major pillar in India’s energy mix. This development aligns with the broader objectives of Viksit Bharat, ensuring energy reliability and reducing dependency on fossil fuels. To achieve this goal, strategic policy interventions and infrastructure investments are being undertaken, with an emphasis on indigenous nuclear technology and public-private collaborations.

     

    Recognizing nuclear power as a critical component for achieving energy security and sustainability, the government has introduced the Nuclear Energy Mission for Viksit Bharat. This initiative aims to enhance domestic nuclear capabilities, promote private sector participation, and accelerate the deployment of advanced nuclear technologies such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).

    Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and R&D Initiatives

    A key highlight of the Union Budget 2025-26 is the launch of a Nuclear Energy Mission, which is focused on research and development (R&D) of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). The government has allocated ₹20,000 crore for this initiative, aiming to develop at least five indigenously designed and operational SMRs by 2033.

    Nuclear Energy Mission for Viksit Bharat

    To facilitate the implementation of the Nuclear Energy Mission, amendments to the Atomic Energy Act and Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act will be taken up by the parliament. These amendments are expected to encourage private sector investments in nuclear power projects.

     

    These legislative changes are expected to create a more conducive environment for investment and innovation in the nuclear sector. The mission aligns with India’s commitment to achieving 100 GW of nuclear energy capacity by 2047, a milestone deemed essential for reducing carbon emissions and meeting future energy demands. As of January 30, 2025, India’s nuclear capacity is 8180 MW.

    The government will enter into partnerships with the private sector with the motive of:

    • Setting up Bharat Small Reactors,
    • Research & development of Bharat Small Modular Reactor, and
    • Research & development of newer technologies for nuclear energy.

    Bharat Small Reactors

    The government is actively expanding its nuclear energy sector by developing Bharat Small Reactors (BSRs) and exploring partnerships with the private sector. BSRs are 220 MW Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) with a proven safety and performance record. These reactors are being upgraded to reduce land requirements, making them suitable for deployment near industries such as steel, aluminium, and metals, serving as captive power plants to aid in decarbonization efforts.

    The plan involves private entities providing land, cooling water, and capital, while the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) handles design, quality assurance, and operation and maintenance, all within the existing legal framework. This initiative aligns with India’s commitment to achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy generation by 2030 and meeting 50% of its energy requirements from renewable energy by 2030, as pledged at the COP26 Summit in Glasgow in 2021.

    In addition to BSRs, the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is developing Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) for repurposing retiring coal-based power plants and meeting power needs in remote locations. The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) also plans to introduce new nuclear reactors, including high-temperature gas-cooled reactors for hydrogen co-generation and molten salt reactors aimed at utilizing India’s abundant thorium resources.

    This strategic move signifies India’s dedication to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing its civil nuclear energy program, with private sector participation playing a crucial role within the bounds of Indian laws and regulations.

    Bharat Small Modular Reactors

    India is actively exploring Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) as a crucial part of its energy transition strategy, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions while ensuring energy security. SMRs, are advanced nuclear reactors with a power generation capacity ranging from less than 30 MWe to 300+ MWe, provide a flexible, scalable, and cost-effective alternative to conventional large nuclear reactors. Given India’s growing energy demands and the need for reliable, low-carbon power, SMRs can play a transformative role in complementing renewable energy sources and stabilizing the grid. Their modular design allows for factory-based manufacturing, reducing construction timelines and costs, making them suitable for both on-grid and off-grid applications, including deployment in remote locations.

    India’s expertise in Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) provides a strong foundation for the development and deployment of indigenous SMR designs. By integrating SMRs into its energy mix, India can address land constraints, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and enhance its ability to meet international climate commitments under the Paris Agreement (2015) which India ratified in October 2016.

    Government Initiatives for Enhancing India’s Nuclear Capacity

    India is actively enhancing its nuclear power capacity to meet growing energy demands and achieve environmental goals. The government has initiated steps to increase nuclear power capacity from the current 8,180 MW to 22,480 MW by 2031-32. This expansion includes the construction and commissioning of ten reactors, totalling 8,000 MW, across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, pre-project activities for ten more reactors have commenced, with plans for progressive completion by 2031-32. Further, the government accorded in-principle approval to set up 6 x 1208 MW nuclear power plant in cooperation with the USA at Kovvada in Srikakulam district in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

    A significant milestone was achieved on September 19, 2024, when the Rajasthan Atomic Power Project’s Unit-7 (RAPP-7), one of the country’s largest and third indigenous nuclear reactors, reached criticality, marking the beginning of controlled fission chain reaction. This event signifies India’s growing capability in building and operating indigenous nuclear reactors, contributing to a future powered by homegrown technology.

    Safety remains a cornerstone of India’s nuclear energy policy. India’s nuclear power plants operate with stringent safety protocols and international oversight. The radiation levels at Indian nuclear facilities are consistently well below global benchmarks, underscoring the country’s commitment to secure and sustainable nuclear energy. These efforts align with India’s broader strategy to provide clean and reliable energy, contributing to long-term energy security and environmental sustainability.

    Recent Developments in Nuclear Energy in India

     

    • A significant discovery of new deposit in India’s oldest Uranium Mine, the Jaduguda Mines, has been made in and around the existing mine lease area. This will increase the life of an otherwise depleting mine by more than fifty years.
    • First two units of the indigenous 700 MWe PHWR at Kakrapar, Gujarat (KAPS – 3 & 4) have started commercial operation in FY 2023-24.
    • Closed fuel cycle being the cornerstone of Indian nuclear power program, the country’s first Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR 500 Mwe) achieved many of the milestones in 2024, viz., Primary Sodium filling in Main Vessel, purification of the filled sodium and commissioning of all the four Sodium pumps (2 Primary Sodium Pumps & 2 Secondary Sodium Pumps). Core loading was commenced with loading of first reactor control rod on 4th March 2024.
    • NPCIL and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) have signed a supplementary Joint Venture agreement to develop nuclear power facilities in the country. The JV named ASHVINI will function within the existing legal framework of the Atomic Energy Act 1962 (amended in 2015) and will build, own, and operate nuclear power plants, including the upcoming 4×700 MWe PHWR Mahi-Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project.

    Conclusion

    The provisions for nuclear power in the Union Budget 2025-26 mark a transformative shift in India’s energy landscape. By promoting nuclear energy as a sustainable, scalable, and secure power source, the government aims to bolster energy security and meet the nation’s long-term economic and environmental goals. The Nuclear Energy Mission for Viksit Bharat is poised to accelerate nuclear power development, positioning India as a global leader in advanced nuclear technology by 2047.

    MCA 21 has Strengthened Security, Improved Accessibility, and Increased Stakeholder Engagement

     MCA21 is the first Mission Mode e-Governance Project under National eGovernance Plan (NeGP). The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has been operating it from end-to-end for registry and incorporation related services of Companies & LLPs since 2006 and corporates have been making filings on this portal since then.  During the recent period from 01.04.2024 to 27.01.2025, a total of 80.26 lakh forms have been filed on the MCA21 portal, compared to 73.29 lakh forms filed during the corresponding period in the previous year. Also, on the newly developed MCA21 V3 platform, 53.08 lakh forms were filed from 01.04.2024 to 27.01.2025, as against 47.72 lakh forms filed during the same period in the preceding year indicating an overall increase in the number of filings, enhanced stakeholder engagement with the system as also the robustness & reliability of the MCA21 platform.

     The MCA21 V3 platform facilitates Ease of Doing Business, and has introduced web-based forms, enabling real-time validation of the data entered by stakeholders. Additionally, a user registration process has been implemented to enhance user identification and authentication. This process enables users to track the status of their filed forms and download challans and certificates directly from their application dashboard. To further support stakeholders, a live chat feature has been integrated into the helpdesk, providing real-time assistance and enhancing the overall user experience.

    The security and confidentiality of information submitted through the MCA21 portal are ensured by adhering to established data security standards, including the MEITY guidelines, CERT-In regulations, ISO 27001, and Information Security Protocols. Multi-factor authentication has been introduced to verify the identity of users accessing the system. Additionally, measures such as masking private information from public view have been implemented to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the data.

    The Minister of State in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Harsh Malhotra stated this in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.

    The Trailer Making Competition Delhi Roadshow took centre stage at Gurutegh Bahadur 4th Centenary Engineering College (GTB4CEC) last week, marking a key stop in a series of roadshows leading up to the grand finale of the nationwide Trailer Making Competition.

    Organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry and Reskilll, with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Netflix as the creative partner, GTB4CEC as the academic partner, this initiative provided an unparalleled platform for participants to explore the art of storytelling and video editing.

    A Platform for Creativity and Innovation

    Unlocking Creativity: Trailer Making Competition, powered by Netflix Fund for Creative Equity as part of the WAVES 2025, is a competition designed to inspire and equip aspiring filmmakers. This unique initiative offers students the chance to create compelling trailers, drawing from Netflix’s extensive content library. It featured an intensive 3-month cohort to equip participants with in-depth skills in video editing, storytelling, and trailer production.

     

    Participants in the Trailer Making Competition will receive various recognitions and rewards based on their performance. Every participant who submits a valid trailer will be awarded a Certificate of Participation. The top 50 entrants will receive a Certificate of Excellence along with exclusive recognition from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and Netflix.

    Furthermore, the top 20 contenders will be honoured with a trophy, exclusive merchandise, and the unique opportunity to attend the WAVES, showcasing their achievements and connecting with industry leaders.

    Registrations are ongoing and will close on 31st March 2025. Till now, around 3200 registrations from around the globe have been done. The general profiles of participants range from college students i.e. aspiring content creators and video editors to working professionals jumping on their hobby or applying using their ongoing venture as editors and creators.

    Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh said here today that some of the women-led StartUps from India are making a global mark.

    Not only this, the Minister said, even in difficult sectors like the Space, women-led projects have been hailed worldwide and cited the example of India’s Solar mission “Aditya L1” which is led by Nigar Shaji who became known as ISRO’s “Sunny Lady”.

    Dr Jitendra Singh said, women-led development is a key priority of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance agenda with the vision that women-led startups will place India on the global map in the years to come and our women entrepreneurs have the potential to realise that goal.

    Speaking to a delegation of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry – Ladies Organisation (FICCI-FLO), led by its YFLO Delhi President Dr. Payal Kanodia, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, the Prime Minister has laid out the vision of Indian startups leading the global innovation race, with women-led businesses at the forefront across sectors. He also said, from 2014 onwards, women empowerment has got a practical meaning with many of the welfare schemes including entrepreneurship promoting schemes like PM MUDRA and PM Vishwakarma schemes largely benefiting the women workforce. He further said, women entrepreneurship is being promoted in a big way under the leadership of Narendra Modi.

    The Union Minister further said, the paradigm shift in women empowerment has enabled our womenfolk to increasingly assume leadership role in every sphere of life and every profession, moving away from a long-held participatory role.

    Dr. Jitendra Singh also told the delegation that nearly 70 percent of the youth who have availed financial assistance under PM Mudra Yojana are women to set up their own means to earn livelihoods for themselves, and become job providers for others. He also asked the delegation to contribute at its best to realize the vision of Prime Minister Modi’s a developed India by 2047, adding that the government has taken upon itself to scale up capacity building of its youth population including the young women.

    The Union Minister further told, the exclusive asset of India, the traditional artisans and craftsmen, has been brought into the mainstream with the launch of PM Vishwakarma by the Prime Minister. He said, the traditional artisans and craftsmen are as integral as anything in Indian society who have kept alive the centuries old traditions and crafts of the country but were never taken care of since independence. He further said, it was only possible under the Modi regime that this integral part of the society is supported and skilled now with the launch of the new scheme and under this Scheme the Government is not only providing free training to the beneficiaries but also giving them stipend during the training period with no liability on parents of the artisans and craftsmen.

     

    Dr. Jitendra Singh also said, the Modi Government has taken many revolutionary steps to provide employment avenues to its youth populace by launching various schemes and also by revolutionizing the work culture in the country by combining the best features of Indian tradition with modernity keeping in view the diversity of the country.
