  • MIL-OSI Russia: Rosneft CEO Announces New Image of Global Energy

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Rosneft – Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The current state of global energy is at the stage of forming a new image, said Igor Sechin, Chief Executive Officer of PJSC NK Rosneft, during his keynote speech “Odyssey of the World Economy in Search of the Golden Fleece. New Image of Global Energy” at the XXVIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

“The current state of global energy is at the stage of forming a new image, caused by a multiple increase in electricity consumption, the generation of which will be provided by both fossil fuels and renewable sources,” the head of the Company noted at the Energy Panel.

In his report, Sechin spoke about the main factors influencing the change in this appearance, including the need to ensure energy security and commercial efficiency of energy sources, budget deficit and an avalanche-like growth in the level of public debt, as well as the demographics of developing countries. According to Igor Sechin, in the next 25 years, the population of African and Asian-Pacific countries will increase by 1.4 billion people.

Another factor that, according to the head of Rosneft, influences both energy production and consumption growth is the digital revolution with the use of artificial intelligence and work with big data.

“The electric power industry is acquiring a special role, which will have to overcome the risk of deficit due to the jump in consumption growth in China, India, developing countries and the gigantic need for electricity to supply data centers and heavy industry,” Sechin said. According to him, the growth in consumption will be accompanied by a qualitative increase in labor productivity based on new technologies. “The process has been launched. Today, the level of electricity generation in China is more than twice as high as its production in the United States, and 20 years ago it was the other way around,” he added.

In his report, Igor Sechin quoted one of the most authoritative scientists of our time, a supporter of a realistic approach to the transition to new energy sources, Vaclav Smil: “Energy is a universal currency. Without its transformation in some form, no achievements are possible.” “That is why modern societies with high energy consumption prefer to use resources with the highest useful energy output, primarily fossil fuels,” Sechin said.

According to the head of Rosneft, energy and progress are inseparable from each other – throughout history, the higher a person climbed the ladder of progress, the more energy he required.

“Those who can practically participate in the formation of a new image of energy will receive the opportunity for accelerated economic and technological growth. An analogy with the legend of the search for the Golden Fleece by the Argonauts, who overcame incredible obstacles and troubles on the way to achieving happiness and well-being, comes to mind,” Igor Sechin concluded.

KATHMANDU, June 21 (Xinhua) — Nepal imported a record number of four-wheeler electric vehicles in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2024-25, the country’s Customs Department said on Friday.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2025, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav attended the celebrations in Bhopal on Saturday. CM Yadav was seen performing the prayer pose along with other participants.

Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav extended his best wishes to everyone on International Yoga Day and highlighted the significance of the day, which also coincides with the longest day of the year.

Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the entire country and the world are celebrating this day. He emphasised that the world is becoming increasingly aware of India’s ancient knowledge, science, and lifestyle.

Yadav said, “On the occasion of #InternationalYogaDay, I extend my best wishes to everyone. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the entire country and the world are celebrating this day. This is also the longest day of the year…As the days pass, the world is becoming more aware of India’s ancient knowledge, science, and lifestyle. With the efforts of PM Narendra Modi, the 11th International Yoga Day is being celebrated today. The message of yoga is unique.”

The 11th International Day of Yoga witnessed widespread participation across states. The theme for this year is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” which reflects India’s vision of global wellness and its integrated view of well-being. It emphasises the interconnectedness of human and planetary health, drawing from the Indian ethos of “Sarve Santu Niramaya” (May all be free from disease).

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations, where he hailed yoga as a gift “beyond age,” transcending all boundaries and uniting humanity in “health and harmony.” Prime Minister Modi urged the international community to embrace “inner peace” as a “global policy” and make yoga a collective global responsibility.

Speaking at the celebrations in Visakhapatnam, PM Modi called upon countries to adopt yoga not merely as a personal or cultural practice, but as a unifying force for humanity. The event was held along the scenic Visakhapatnam coastline, with Indian Navy ships stationed near the shore, adding to the grandeur of the occasion.

PM Modi was joined by lakhs of yoga enthusiasts, local residents, and dignitaries from Andhra Pradesh. The Prime Minister also reflected on India’s 2014 proposal at the United Nations to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day and noted that, in record time, over 170 countries supported the move. He said that yoga has since evolved into a worldwide practice symbolising peace, balance, and cooperation. This year’s celebrations witnessed participation from lakhs of people across states.

VIENNA, June 21 (Xinhua) — The Bushehr nuclear power plant is the Iranian nuclear facility where the consequences of an attack could be most serious, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi warned at a UN Security Council meeting on Friday.

Speaking via video link, he said countries in the region had contacted him in the past few hours to express their deep concern.

    R. Grossi emphasized that a direct hit on the nuclear power plant could lead to a significant release of radioactive substances into the environment. The Bushehr power plant is an operating facility that stores thousands of kilograms of nuclear materials. A strike that disables the only two power lines could lead to a meltdown of the reactor core and a large release of radioactive substances, he explained.

The IAEA chief warned that worst-case scenarios could require protective measures such as evacuation, sheltering or the use of stable iodine, with the impact radius reaching hundreds of kilometers. Radiation monitoring and food restrictions could be needed over large areas.

    R. Grossi also expressed concern about the Tehran nuclear research reactor, saying that any attack on the facility could have serious consequences for the city and its population, requiring urgent protective measures.

He promised to continue to provide timely public information on the status of Iran’s nuclear facilities and potential health and environmental risks. –0–

  • Operation Sindhu: 517 Indian nationals brought back from Iran so far, says MEA

    Source: Government of India

    Source: Government of India (4)

A total of 517 Indian nationals have been evacuated from Iran under Operation Sindhu, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday.

Jaiswal said a special flight from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, landed in New Delhi at 3 am on June 21. The operation was launched to bring Indian citizens home as tensions between Iran and Israel escalate.

“Operation Sindhu continues. A special evacuation flight from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, landed in New Delhi at 0300 hrs on 21st June, bringing Indians from Iran home. With this, so far 517 Indian nationals from Iran have returned,” Jaiswal posted on X.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran coordinated the safe return of students and other citizens, while the MEA oversaw the evacuation process. Several evacuees expressed relief upon arrival.

Zaffar Abbas Naqvi, who was evacuated with his family, said they had initially stayed indoors after hearing about the attack on Iran and later moved to Mashhad as the situation deteriorated.

“We then contacted the Indian government. The action was so swift that we cannot express our gratitude in words,” Naqvi said, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Kulsum, another evacuee, said, “The situation in Iran is not good. We were very worried. The government helped us a lot and brought us back home safely.”

Mohammad Ali Qazim, who had traveled to Mashhad on a religious trip, also thanked the Indian government for facilitating their safe return.

The first batch of 110 students — including 90 from Kashmir — was evacuated from northern Iran earlier this week and taken to Armenia before being flown to India.

The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel began on June 13 after Israel conducted airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites under “Operation Rising Lion.” In retaliation, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards launched “Operation True Promise 3,” targeting Israeli fuel and energy centers.

The MEA said the operation would continue until all Indian nationals who wish to leave Iran have been safely repatriated.

  • MIL-OSI: MountBay Energy Unlocks Microbial Biofilm Technology to Revolutionize Battery Longevity

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

NEW YORK, June 21, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — MountBay Energy has unveiled groundbreaking research on microbial biofilms that could redefine the future of grid-scale energy storage. The study, led by founder Vrushabhraj Tanawade, introduces a bio-integrated insulation method using thermophilic and mesophilic microbial consortia to regulate heat inside battery modules. The results are striking: up to a 22% reduction in internal temperature and a 30% improvement in carbon lifecycle efficiency.

“This innovation is about biology meeting infrastructure,” says Tanawade. “We’ve discovered how nature’s mechanisms can dramatically extend the life of our clean energy systems.”

Unlike conventional synthetic cooling solutions, MountBay’s microbial approach is circular, biodegradable, and scalable—opening up new frontiers for climate resilience and fire-risk reduction in hot environments.

The research aligns perfectly with MountBay’s mission to power the AI economy through clean, sustainable, and advanced infrastructure. It also positions the company as a frontrunner in biological material integration across the energy sector.

Additionally, MountBay has released a preliminary transformative feasibility report for a Lunar Solar Belt—a continuous solar array on the Moon that can beam uninterrupted, clean energy back to Earth.

The report outlines how in-situ resource utilization (ISRU), autonomous lunar robotics, and microwave power transmission could enable the construction of a moon-based solar plant by the 2030s. With an energy return on investment (EROI) of 8:1, the system offers a scalable, emission-free solution to humanity’s growing power demands.

“This is not just an energy project—it’s a civilization-scale investment in global stability,” said Tanawade. “We believe the Moon should be a cooperative utility, not a geopolitical race.”

MountBay is also proposing a new diplomatic framework—The Earth-Moon Energy Accord (EMEA)—to ensure equitable access, safety, and international cooperation.

The concept directly supports MountBay’s mission: to push the frontiers of clean power while securing energy independence for AI-driven economies.

Tanawade is rallying governments, institutions, and innovators to join him. “It’s time for America to lead the most ambitious energy project in human history,” he said.

Beijing is cementing its position as a national leader in the commercial space sector, with local firms breaking records in rocket launches and satellite technology as the city pushes for global industry prominence.

“Beijing’s commercial space ecosystem is among the best in China — certainly in the top tier,” said Xia Dongkun, executive president of Beijing-based launch service provider Galactic Energy, during a media tour of the company’s exhibition hall on June 18.

Galactic Energy has completed 19 successful commercial missions, delivering 81 satellites with various functions into orbit. Its CERES-1 rocket holds the record for the most successful launches among China’s privately developed rockets, underscoring Beijing’s growing commercial space capabilities.

As the birthplace of China’s space program, Beijing is implementing the 14th Five-Year Plan’s directive to promote the integrated development of strategic emerging industries.

The city has established a comprehensive commercial space supply chain, hosting more than half of the country’s core aerospace R&D institutions and over 300 high-tech commercial space enterprises. Of these, 46 were named to the 2024 China Top 100 Commercial Space Companies list, accounting for nearly half of the national total and highlighting Beijing’s leading position in the industry.

The city has established a distinctive spatial layout known as “Southern Rockets, Northern Satellites.” In the south, areas such as E-Town and Fengtai district have become hubs for commercial rocket manufacturers, including industry leaders Landspace and Galactic Energy, representing more than 70% of China’s commercial launch vehicle companies.

Meanwhile, Haidian district in the north has developed into the country’s most advanced cluster for satellite manufacturing, boasting a fully developed supply chain for spacecraft production.

Beijing’s technological achievements continue to set new industry benchmarks. Landspace’s Zhuque-3 test vehicle completed a 10-kilometer vertical takeoff and landing, making it the first Chinese reusable rocket to demonstrate mid-air reignition.

Galactic Energy launched seven missions in 2023, ranking third globally among commercial space firms. In satellite technology, Galaxy Space carried out Thailand’s first low-Earth orbit broadband satellite internet test in May 2024, marking China’s first overseas deployment of such services.

On the international stage, Beijing is advancing the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ International Meridian Circle Program, which recently completed its second phase after securing cooperation with 13 overseas institutions. The city also uses platforms like the Zhongguancun Forum’s space sessions to promote global industry dialogue and expand space infrastructure partnerships under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Following the 14th Five-Year Plan’s call to advance core technologies, the city has launched several initiatives, including establishing the Beijing Reusable Rocket Technology Innovation Center and supporting more than 30 research projects by firms such as Landspace. The city attracted 1 billion yuan ($139 million) in investment for seven commercial space and low-altitude economy firms in 2024 and released 10 initial application scenarios for technologies such as natural resource monitoring and emergency relief.

Looking ahead, Beijing’s commercial space sector will focus on three key areas. For launch vehicles, the goal is to achieve orbital recovery and reuse of rockets by 2026 and to start developing a super heavy-lift rocket. For satellites, plans include research on a space computing constellation and advances in solar arrays and electric propulsion. The city also aims to boost commercial satellite services in areas such as mobile communications, insurance claims, smart cities and autonomous driving.

  • FIFA Club World Cup: Bayern beat Boca to progress to knockouts

    Source: Government of India

    Source: Government of India (4)

Bayern Munich rekindled their European pride at the Club World Cup with a gritty 2-1 win over Boca Juniors on Friday, booking their place in the last 16 after a tense and fiery clash.

In front of a passionate crowd dominated by Boca supporters—who transformed the Hard Rock Stadium into a mini “Bombonera”—the Argentine side fought tooth and nail. But Bayern’s determination prevailed late in the game.

Harry Kane opened the scoring for the German champions early in the first half, only for Boca to hit back through Miguel Merentiel. With the game hanging in the balance, Michael Olise struck a late winner to send Bayern to the top of Group C with six points, two clear of Benfica. Boca, with just one point, remain in contention and will face Auckland City in their final group game, while Bayern take on Benfica.

The win was a timely boost for European clubs, who have recently struggled in the tournament, with Porto, PSG, and Chelsea all suffering defeats.

The match crackled with intensity, particularly in the second half, as Boca pressed high and disrupted Bayern’s rhythm with physical, high-tempo football.

Bayern started brightly and thought they had taken the lead when Olise’s curling corner found the net, but the goal was ruled out by VAR for a foul on the goalkeeper. The breakthrough came in the 18th minute when a deflected clearance fell to Kane, who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner after a cross from Konrad Laimer—his first goal of the tournament after being held scoreless in the 10-0 rout of Auckland City.

Bayern nearly doubled their lead soon after, as Serge Gnabry sent a ball across the face of goal, but Kingsley Coman missed a golden opportunity to tap in. At the other end, Manuel Neuer made a pair of sharp saves to deny Kevin Zenon, as Boca continued to pose a threat.

After the break, Boca ramped up their intensity, unsettling Bayern with relentless pressing and spirited tackling. Their efforts paid off in the 66th minute when Merentiel was played through on the right, danced past Josip Stanisic, and beat Neuer with a composed finish—sending the Boca fans into a frenzy.

But Bayern held their nerve. In the 84th minute, Olise curled a precise shot into the bottom corner after being teed up by Kane, sealing a crucial win and securing their spot in the knockout stages.

  • MIL-OSI China: China boosts autonomous driving with expanding test zones, policy support

Source: People’s Republic of China – State Council News

In Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, also known as Beijing E-Town, drivers and pedestrians have grown increasingly accustomed to driverless robotaxis.

Wang Wei conducts road testing for an autonomous vehicle at an autonomous driving demonstration area in Yizhuang in Beijing, capital of China, June 19, 2024. (Xinhua/Ju Huanzong)

But autonomous technology isn’t just limited to ride-hailing in the area. Driverless sanitation vehicles now sweep the streets along pre-programmed routes, while autonomous minibuses shuttle back and forth along tree-lined avenues.

This futuristic reality can be traced back to September 2020, when the Chinese capital launched the world’s first high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone.

Since then, the city has completed the intelligent deployment of roadside infrastructure across 600 square kilometers and plans to expand the demonstration zone to approximately 3,000 square kilometers between the fourth and sixth ring roads.

To date, the demonstration zone has issued road test permits to 33 companies, covering some 900 vehicles with a combined autonomous driving test mileage of over 32 million kilometers, accounting for over a quarter of the total national autonomous test mileage.

Autonomous driving has become a key area in China’s push to integrate digital technologies with the real economy. As pilot projects expand, cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen are advancing multi-scenario applications, from ride-hailing and logistics to public transit and street cleaning.

Beijing, home to leading companies in the field, including Baidu, Pony.ai and Neolix, is forging the road ahead with both regulation and deployment. In April, a new local regulation on autonomous vehicles took effect, providing a clear regulatory framework for autonomous vehicles equipped with Level 3 and higher systems.

Shanghai and Shenzhen are also accelerating development. Shanghai recently expanded its autonomous driving test roads to more than 750 kilometers, while Shenzhen has rolled out AI-powered buses on several urban routes. Backed by dedicated legislation and cutting-edge vehicle-road coordination systems, both cities are rapidly scaling their smart mobility ecosystems.

At a modern distribution facility in the E-Town operated by autonomous driving vehicle producer Neolix, a fleet of autonomous delivery vehicles glides in one after another.

Inside the sleek white building, each vehicle halts precisely beneath a massive overhead conveyor belt.

As the vehicles open their lids automatically, parcels slide down from the second floor, neatly filling each compartment. Once loaded, the lids close, and the vehicles quietly roll out, ready for dispatch.

Powered by an intelligent backend scheduling system, the factory can coordinate hundreds of autonomous delivery vehicles with various sorting lanes, achieving precise and efficient package matching.

“Our autonomous vehicles are primarily operating regularly in Beijing’s Shunyi District and E-town. Overall, we can help courier companies reduce logistics costs by around 50 percent while improving delivery efficiency by roughly 30 percent,” said Yang Zhe, the co-founder of Neolix.

“Our vehicle is equipped with 12 cameras and a LiDAR, enabling full 360-degree perception with no blind spots,” Yang added. “When the system detects an obstacle, it locks onto the object, calculates its size and distance, and then decides whether to continue forward or take an alternate route.”

By the end of August 2024, Chinese public security authorities had issued 16,000 test licenses for autonomous vehicles, with some 32,000 kilometers of roads nationwide opened for autonomous vehicle testing, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

As intelligent vehicle technology advances rapidly, safety has become a core industry challenge. From data privacy to AI misjudgments in autonomous driving, experts stress the need for clearer safety boundaries as AI plays a deeper role in the sector.

“As AI reaches a certain stage of development, it is essential to address deeper issues spanning industry, technology, safety, as well as social, legal, and ethical dimensions,” said Su Linke, an executive from the new energy vehicle brand Deepal.

Finding ways for AI to serve both vehicles and people better and to help foster more harmonious social relationships should be a shared priority in advancing the industry, Su added.

The launch ceremony for the Japanese version of a compilation of excerpts from discourses on Chinese modernization by Chinese President Xi Jinping and a seminar on Chinese solutions to global development has been held in Tokyo, attracting more than 120 guests from Chinese and Japanese government bodies, thinktanks and media.

At the event on Thursday, the guests jointly unveiled the Japanese version of the book. As of now, the book has been published in six foreign languages and has been distributed to 30 countries and regions around the world.

The guests and scholars believe that the book, which collects a series of key discourses by Xi regarding Chinese modernization, comprehensively reflects the rich connotation and core spirit of Chinese modernization.

The Japanese version of this work, along with the previously published English, French, Russian, Arabic editions and the recently released Spanish edition, will help the international community gain deeper insights into the historical trend, theoretical system, practical requirements and global significance of Chinese modernization, they added.

The attendees believe that Chinese modernization is the crystallization of Eastern wisdom that promotes the progress of human civilization, a “monument of the times” forged by the Communist Party of China (CPC) in uniting and leading the people through a century-long journey, a path of human justice that takes root in the land of China and shines with the light of truth, as well as the epitome of Xi’s thoughts on governing the country.

Chinese-style modernization injects stability and certainty into the world, brings new impetus and opportunities to the world, and instills openness and mutual benefit into the world, they said.

The event was organized by the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee and the Chinese Embassy in Japan and hosted by the Central Compilation and Translation Press.

  • MIL-OSI New Zealand: Man facing charges after string of early-morning offences

    Source: New Zealand Police

    Attributable to Inspector Danny Meade:

A 44-year-old man faces a number of charges after crashing a stolen vehicle in Pakuranga this morning following a string of burglaries.

The man is thought to have been responsible for seven reported burglaries, stealing two cars, and getting into three crashes, between around 5:10am and 5:50am today.

It began in Udys Road where Police received a call from someone reporting an unknown man had broken into their house, and a physical confrontation took place. Fortunately there were no injuries, and the man left on foot.

Within minutes, Police received two further separate reports from residents on Udys Road – one reporting a man trying to force entry to her home, and a second reporting their front door being smashed.

Residents of a Pakuranga Road property called Police just after 5:30am, reporting that an unknown man had forced entry into their house armed with a knife. There were no injuries reported, before the man left.

Around 5:40am, Police were made aware of an incident on Grammar School Road, where they had seen a person run off towards their neighbour’s about 10 minutes earlier.

By this stage, a Police dog unit was in the area and had come across the man on a separate Grammar School Road property.

Minutes later, Police received another call from someone reporting the man had kicked in the front door to their house and was smashing items inside.

He stole this person’s car keys and drove off in their vehicle, crashing through a gate and onto Pakuranga Road, then onto Udys Road.

A Police unit was in the vicinity, before the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Udys Road and Reeves Road.

The man has then stolen another car from a property on Reeves Road, which Police pursued for a short time before it crashed at the intersection of Ti Rakau Drive and Tiraumea Drive, causing significant damage to a fence.

The man ran off on foot, before being arrested a short time later.

He will appear in court at a later date.

  • MIL-Evening Report: Analyst dismisses ‘lie by rogue’ Netanyahu over Iran’s nuclear programme

    Asia Pacific Report

A leading Middle East analyst has pushed back against US President Donald Trump’s dismissal of the conclusion of his own national intelligence chief, who said in April that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon.

Marwan Bishara, Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst, said in an interview that Tulsi Gabbard, the US Director of National Intelligence, who issued the determination on Iran, “does not speak for herself” or her team alone.

“She speaks for all the intelligence agencies combined,” Bishara said.

“This intelligence is supposed to be sound. This is not just one person or one team saying something. It’s the entire intelligence community in the United States. He [Trump] would dismiss them? For what?

“For a lie by a rogue element called Benjamin Netanyahu, who has lied all his life, a con artist who is indicted for his crimes in Gaza? It’s just astounding.”

    US senators slam Netanyahu
Two US senators have also condemned Netanyahu while Israel continues to bomb and starve Gaza

Chris Van Hollen and Elizabeth Warren, two Democrats in the US Senate, have urged the world to pay attention to what Israel continues to do in Gaza amid its conflict with Iran.

“Don’t look away,” Van Hollen wrote on X. “Since the start of the Israel-Iran war 7 days ago, over 400 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed, many shot while seeking food.

“It’s unconscionable that Netanyahu has not allowed international orgs to resume food delivery.”

Warren said the Israeli prime minister “may think no one will notice what he’s doing in Gaza while he bombs Iran”.

“People face starvation. 55,000 killed. Aid workers and doctors turned away at the border. Shooting at innocent people desperate for food. The world sees you, Benjamin Netanyahu,” she wrote.

    ‘A trust gap’
The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, appealed for an end to the fighting between Israel and Iran, saying that Teheran had repeatedly stated that it was not seeking nuclear weapons.

“Let’s recognise there is a trust gap,” he said.

“The only way to bridge that gap is through diplomacy to establish a credible, comprehensive and verifiable solution — including full access to inspectors of the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency], as the United Nations technical agency in this field.

“For all of that to be possible, I appeal for an end to the fighting and the return to serious negotiations.”

  • MIL-OSI USA: Sens. Scott, Alsobrooks Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Allow Federal Tax Credit for Beauty Industry Small Businesses

    US Senate News:

Source: United States Senator for South Carolina Tim Scott

WASHINGTON — U.S. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) introduced the Small Business Tax Fairness and Compliance Simplification Act. This legislation allows beauty industry small businesses, such as hair stylists, barbers, and nail technicians, to qualify for the Section 45(B) federal tax credit and provides a safe harbor for these businesses to establish procedures for tipped employees to better report their wages without attracting additional tax liability.

The beauty industry is the second largest tip-based sector but is excluded from the Section 45(B) federal tip tax credit. Currently, the tax credit is only available for the restaurant industry and not the beauty industry. Providing beauty industry small businesses with access to the Section 45(B) credit would allow them to hire more employees and decrease their federal tax burden.

“The beauty services industry is expanding rapidly, with entrepreneurs supporting over 1.3 million hardworking Americans,” said Senator Scott. “This important effort to modernize the tax code ensures small businesses—like salons and barbershops—have a fair shot at success. I’m proud to lead this bipartisan legislation that will support these business owners and their employees in building wealth and achieving their own American Dream.”

“It is long past time that we allow small businesses in the beauty industry to qualify for this federal tax credit so they have more opportunities to grow their businesses, create more jobs, and fuel our economy. Small businesses are the backbone of Maryland, the backbone of our country, and this legislation would allow Maryland’s small businesses in the beauty industry to flourish,” said Senator Alsobrooks.

“The beauty industry is powered by women-owned small businesses, employing over more than one million professionals and offering countless entry-level opportunities,” said Megan Patton, Chair of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Board of Directors. “This bill relieves owners of the burden of unpredictable tip taxation, paving the way for greater financial stability. With projected industry growth of close to 20% by 2030, now is the time to act,” continued Patton. “This legislation will not only support small businesses but also strengthen retirement security for spa, beauty, and barbering professionals across the country.”

“As a longtime small business owner in the beauty industry, I know firsthand how important it is to have policies that reflect the realities we face every day. The Small Business Tax Fairness and Compliance Simplification Act is a game-changer for businesses like mine. It gives us the tools to operate more transparently, take care of our teams, and build for the future without the fear of unexpected tax penalties. This kind of support can make all the difference for barbers, stylists, and salon owners working hard to stay afloat and serve their communities,” said Derick Ausby, State of Maryland Barber Board Member and Owner of the Groomatory Mens Club.

The Small Business Tax Fairness and Compliance Simplification Act has broad industry support, including the Professional Beauty Association (PBA), the International Spa Association, the National Association of Barber Boards of America, the Professional Beauty Employment Coalition, the National Association of Women Business Owners, the Personal Care Products Council, the International SalonSpa Business Network, and the Esthetics Council.

Representatives LaHood (R-Ill.-16) and DelBene (D-Wash.-01) reintroduced this bill in the House last month with bipartisan support.

St. Petersburg, June 21 (Xinhua) — Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, called on Friday to uphold the common values of humanity and promote the building of an equal and orderly multipolar world, as well as an inclusive and beneficial economic globalization. He delivered a speech on “Upholding the Common Values of Humanity and Promoting a Multipolar World” at the plenary session of the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

According to Ding Xuexiang, ten years ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out at the general debate of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly that peace, development, equality, justice, democracy and freedom are the common values of all mankind and the lofty goals of the UN. This important judgment goes beyond the differences between different countries, ethnic groups, social systems and ideologies, outlining a value-based concentric circle for building a community with a shared future for mankind, and has received broad support and positive feedback from the international community, the vice premier added.

At present, global changes unseen in a century are accelerating, multiple risks are intertwined, and humanity is facing many common challenges, Ding Xuexiang said, calling for a return to President Xi Jinping’s important speech to steer the planet toward a brighter future of peace, security, prosperity and progress.

The Deputy Prime Minister put forward the following four-point proposal.

First, it is necessary to uphold the concept of global governance characterized by broad consultation, joint contribution and common benefit. It is necessary to advocate for equal rights, opportunities and rules for all countries, and to protect the authority of the UN and international justice.

Second, we need to work together to build an open and pluralistic world economy. We need to take concrete steps to protect the multilateral trading system and the international economic order, expand and fairly share the pie of economic globalization, and create more opportunities for countries in the Global South.

Third, exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations should be supported. The diversity of human civilizations should be respected, all nations should be encouraged to find their own ways of realizing values, and any “new Cold War” or ideological confrontation should be opposed.

Fourth, we need to safeguard global peace and development by building trust, resolving conflicts and strengthening security through dialogue, passing the torch of peace to future generations for lasting stability and common prosperity.

Ding Xuexiang said that China and Russia are true friends who share joys and sorrows, and good partners who achieve mutual success. In May, President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Russia and attended the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War, he said. The two heads of state agreed to further deepen political mutual trust and strengthen strategic coordination, and jointly demonstrated a resolute stance on upholding the results of World War II and international justice, the vice premier emphasized.

Beijing is willing to work with Moscow to elevate China-Russia relations to a higher level, expand their scope and strengthen their resilience, and expand high-quality mutually beneficial cooperation to benefit the two peoples, Ding Xuexiang said, calling on the two countries to strengthen coordination and cooperation at multilateral platforms such as the UN and make greater contributions to building a more just, equitable and prosperous multipolar world. –0–
