  • MIL-OSI Russia: NSU students took part in the first All-Russian festival of student families

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

    Source: Novosibirsk State University –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The festival was created with the aim of uniting student families, as well as rectors, vice-rectors and specialists responsible for the implementation of family policy in universities. A pair of young scientists, Tatyana and Danil Sboev, had the opportunity to represent NSU at the first All-Russian Festival of Student Families. Tatyana completed her first year of Master’s degree Physics Department of NSU, and Danil is a 1st year postgraduate student Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of NSU.

    — It was an honor for us to represent Novosibirsk State University at the All-Russian Festival of Student Families. Participation in the festival is, first of all, new acquaintances. We talked with the rector and vice-rector of Buryat State University, exchanged experiences and ideas in the field of supporting families within the university, — said Tatyana.

During the festival, a plenary session was held, at which the Chairperson of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Chernyshenko and the Head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia Valery Falkov told students in a question-and-answer format about measures to support young families.

    — The program was very busy. Unfortunately, we were able to attend only the first day of the festival. But during that day we managed to participate in a quiz dedicated to family traditions, where our team took second place, and we received many memorable prizes, and also participated in a master class on psychological well-being of the family. Among other things, the festival provided an opportunity to voice the questions and problems that young student families face. At the plenary session, we asked a question that concerns us as a family of young scientists, and we hope that measures to support the families of young scientists will be developed at the state level, — Tatyana added.

During the plenary session, Valentina Matvienko personally invited Tatyana and Danil to take part in the V Congress of Young Scientists, which will be held from November 26 to 28, 2025, in the federal territory “Sirius” of Krasnodar Krai. The event is part of the national project “Youth and Children”.

    — I liked the festival. We met other student families, exchanged experiences, what kind of support universities offer when entering into marriage. I liked the quiz about family values and traditions. There were guys from Penza, Lugansk and Skolkovo on our team. In addition, despite the busy festival program, Tanya and I managed to take a short walk around summer Moscow, — Danil shared.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: A member of the RUDN construction team told how the third work shift is going

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Peoples’Friendship University of Russia –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Every weekday morning, Jean-Pierre Tsishugi Bisimva, a member of the RUDN Meridian Druzhby construction team, comes to the assembly line at 8:45 a.m. before the start of the work day. He works as a painter in the 11th block of the dormitory. Before this summer, he had never had to paint anything, but in three weeks he has already learned a lot.

His experience working in a repair crew will definitely be useful to him in the future. After all, Jean-Pierre came to Russia from the Democratic Republic of Congo and graduated from the preparatory faculty to enroll in the RUDN Engineering Academy in the Construction program. He will begin his studies on September 1, but in the meantime, he is gaining useful practical skills in advance.

“In the morning, we discuss the work plan for the day, and then we go to our site. I have a wonderful supervisor who is always ready to give professional advice and just suggest something on personal issues. I got used to the work faster than I thought, learned how to paint walls, stairs, radiators. To make it look prettier and more even, we use tape to separate the borders between colors and to avoid painting too much,” Jean-Pierre Tsishugi Bisimva (Construction, 1st year).

    Insidious paints

Jean-Pierre already has not only useful knowledge and skills “under his belt”, but also a funny story about his colleague from the construction team.

“He also worked as a painter, but he didn’t know much about paint. When he had to work in the bathroom, he didn’t cover the floor with anything to protect the surface from the oil paint that was dripping off the walls. This was because he thought that all paints were the same and could be easily washed off after work. As a result, my friend spent a long time cleaning the floor, and it was difficult to do. And that’s why we are always advised to use protective bags, film or cardboard to cover surfaces and keep the work area clean,” Jean-Pierre Tsishugi Bisimwa (Construction, 1st year).

    Concerts on Fridays

The construction team members work from 09:00 to 18:00, with a lunch break. They go to the university cafeteria to recharge their batteries or bring food with them. In the evening, they hand over their completed work to the foreman and go home to rest and tidy up their work uniforms so that they are clean and ready for the new day. However, they are not always in a hurry to part with each other after checking in with the foreman.

“We have a friendly, even family-like atmosphere. On Wednesdays we play football. And on Fridays we organize concerts where everyone can demonstrate their talents: sing, dance, play the guitar. In addition, excursions are organized for us. We have already seen the iconic places of Moscow, learned about its history and architecture,” – Jean-Pierre Tsishugi Bisimva (Construction, 1st year).

At the end of July and in August, students will also be able to compete for the titles of “Miss and Mister of the Construction Team”. Who knows, maybe Jean-Pierre will receive the title of “Mister”? Time will tell.

The third semester of the RUDN construction team “Meridian of Friendship” started on June 27. In total, more than 190 students from 55 countries are taking part in it.

They were divided into two work areas: “Atlantes” are engaged in the improvement of student dormitories, and the guys from “Prometheus” are repairing classrooms, laboratories and sports areas of the university. The teams will work for two months.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Restoration of white-stone decor of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Kozhevniki has begun

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Restoration of the white-stone decor adorning the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Kozhevniki has begun. The church, which has the status of a cultural heritage site of federal significance, is located at 2nd Kozhevnichesky Lane, Building 6.

“The Trinity Church in Kozhevniki is a striking example of Moscow Baroque. The entrances to the northern and southern facades are framed by carved white-stone portals with twisted columns. The history of the temple is closely connected with the famous Russian merchants Bakhrushins, who generously donated to its maintenance. Thanks to them, the interiors of the church received a rich decoration. Currently, the facades of this beautiful architectural monument are being restored. Specialists are carrying out work on repairing the brickwork and cleaning the white-stone details: Corinthian columns, cornices, arched pediments with bas-relief images, molded friezes, belts, inserts, angel heads. Also, restorers-sculptors have begun to restore the lost white-stone details on the facade of the bell tower,” said the head of the capital’s Department of Cultural Heritage.

    Alexey Emelyanov.

The restoration of the architectural monument began in 2024. Specialists completed the gilding of the crosses, domes and dormer windows of the church, and also put the roof of the bell tower in order. Now the facades, as well as the brickwork in the bell tier, have already been cleared of late layers of plaster and paint. It is necessary to restore the wooden beams and the bell tier, cornices and window sills of the bell tower, as well as to manufacture and install window units.

All work is carried out on the basis of an agreed project, an issued permit and under the supervision of experts from the capital Department of Cultural Heritage.

The parish church on the territory of Kozhevennaya Sloboda already existed in the first half of the 17th century. Presumably, the author of the bell tower project was Ivan Zarudny, a famous architect, sculptor, painter and stone carver.

Subsequently, the church was repeatedly rebuilt. Thus, a refectory with two side chapels appeared between the bell tower and the quadrangle, and in the period from 1767 to 1772, the construction of the bell tower gallery was carried out. The Moscow fire of 1812 practically did not affect the church, it was slightly burned.

The bell tower, which previously visually complemented the development of the Kozhevnaya Sloboda, is decorated with stucco decoration typical of the mid-18th century Baroque: garlands, angel heads, volutes. At the base of the octagon there is a closed gallery.

The unique features of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity are the roofs and domes with crosses from the 18th–19th centuries, as well as the interiors, the design of which includes stucco decoration of the walls and ceilings with figured panels, cartouches, consoles in the gallery and in the octagon of the bell tower with the chapel of Michael the Archangel.

In the 18th – early 19th centuries, a large plot of land located near the church and belonging to it was almost completely built up: factory buildings were erected near the church, and in the 1930s, a school building. In 1935, the church was closed. In the following years, warehouses and residential premises were located here, and then workshops of the All-Union Production Scientific Restoration Plant of the USSR Ministry of Culture.

Moscow, July 22 /Xinhua/ — Grain exports from Russia following the results of the current agricultural season /July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026/ may amount to 53-55 million tons, including 43-44 million tons of wheat, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut said at a meeting on the development of grain exports.

“Taking into account all the measures taken and the progress of sowing, our forecasts for exports for the current season, which began on July 1 of this year, in general for grain we expect to export 53-55 million tons for the season and 43-44 million tons for wheat, that is, at the level of the current year, taking into account the carry-over balances that we had at the beginning of the season,” the minister said.

According to the results of the last agricultural season, grain exports from Russia amounted to about 53 million tons, including 44 million tons of wheat.

Despite the drought in a number of large grain-producing regions, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture is still maintaining its forecast for grain harvest this year at 135 million tons.

“Considering that the sowing season as a whole went without any major disruptions, there are, of course, difficulties with the weather – in certain regions we have a severe drought, in certain regions we are flooded, we cannot start harvesting, but nevertheless, for now we are maintaining our forecast – 135 million tons of grain in total and 88-90 million tons of wheat,” said O. BERLIN, July 22 (Xinhua) — More than 60 leading German companies, including Siemens and Deutsche Bank, pledged on Monday to invest 631 billion euros (735 billion U.S. dollars) in the country by 2028 as part of a joint effort to restore investor confidence, German newspaper Handelsblatt reported.

The initiative, called “Made for Germany,” will be formally presented to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil later on Monday. It includes capital expenditure, research and development costs, and commitments from international investors.

The announcement comes as Germany seeks to reverse sluggish economic growth and attract private capital, helped in part by recent changes in fiscal policy and the creation of a special fund for infrastructure investment.

High energy prices and structural problems are reducing the competitiveness of Germany’s industry, prompting growing calls for deeper reforms.

“We need political courage for structural change, and decisive steps must follow,” Siemens CEO Roland Busch told the Handelsblatt newspaper. “But we also need companies that believe in Germany and are willing to invest. All this must come together quickly to gain momentum.”

Companies involved in the initiative plan to lobby the government for faster approval procedures for infrastructure projects and tougher measures to address labor shortages, he added. –0–

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Find “Inspiration” at VDNKh: What New Things the Arts Festival Has in Store

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Listen to live symphonic music, see productions by theater troupes from around the world, get acquainted with a new interpretation of the classics, and be inspired by great art — all this can be done at VDNKh from July 23 to 27. For the eighth time, the main exhibition of our country is hosting the International Arts Festival “Inspiration”. This year, visitors will enjoy an expanded music program, as well as many theater productions, immersive shows, and performances by artists from Russia, Armenia, Egypt, India, Iran, Italy, China, and Turkey. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required for certain events. The program of festival events at outdoor venues may change depending on weather conditions. Spectators should monitor the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

The impressive “Statue Opera” project was prepared by VDNKh especially for the festival. The most famous sculptures of the exhibition, which decorate pavilions No. 1, 59, 18 (Belarus), No. 11 (Kazakhstan), No. 66 (Uzbekistan), No. 67 (Karelia), as well as the fountains “Stone Flower” and “Friendship of Nations”, will literally sing for the guests.

Near each sculpture there is a QR code, by clicking on which you can hear the track. This is a unique opportunity to conduct an audio study of the space where cultural heritage has found a voice.

A special event of the festival will be a chamber concert by the Honored Artist of Russia, winner and laureate of international competitions Alexander Gindin “Schumann. Schubert. Chopin”The outstanding pianist will perform Arabesque by Robert Schumann, works by Franz Schubert and Franz Liszt, as well as Fantasy-Impromptu, two nocturnes and a scherzo by Frederic Chopin. The concert will take place on July 23 at 19:00 in the House of Culture, it will be a true dedication to the era of romanticism and will give the audience a meeting with the silence and depth of great music.

One of the main musical events of “Inspiration” will be a large open-air symphony concert “Poetry of the Russian Waltz”. Conductor Ivan Nikiforchin, a rising star of the Russian and world classical music scene, will present a large symphony concert at “Inspiration”, which will feature fragments from the works of great Russian composers – Mikhail Glinka, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Prokofiev, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Alexander Glazunov, Aram Khachaturian and Georgy Sviridov. The concert will take place on July 27 at 8:00 pm on Druzhby Narodov Square.

Theater groups and artists will perform at 10 VDNKh venues, including the Main Alley and the square near the Friendship of Nations fountain, the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman pavilion, and the Slovo Museum of Slavic Literature.

Among the most striking premieres are a storytelling performance, a street performance on a cube, an immersive performance – “epistolary action”, as well as a production by Turkish director Mehmet Birkje “War and Peace. Chapter 1”.

The play based on the epic novel by Leo Tolstoy “War and Peace” will be performed on July 23 at 8:00 PM on the legendary stage of the Green Theater. The production by the Turkish director will reveal the great work of the classic in a new way for the audience.

On July 23 and 24 at 9:30 p.m. on the Central Alley in front of the Lenin monument, a street performance by the Italian circus company Cubo will take place. The colorful show will unfold inside and outside a cube-shaped structure suspended from a crane.

On July 25 and 26 at 17:00 and 21:00 in the foyer of the House of Culture you can see the plastic performance “E” by the group from Yerevan. The production will combine the beauty of the plasticity of the human body and the skill of puppet theater, telling the story of a lonely man trying to rediscover his essence. The performance is based on Vladimir Nabokov’s story “The Word”.

The audience will also be able to appreciate the work of young actors from the Nemirovich-Danchenko School-Studio at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre. “Morphine” based on the story of the same name by M.A. Bulgakov. This performance about love, which becomes an addiction, the meaning of existence, weakness and destructive force at the same time, will take place at the VDNKh Culture House on July 24 at 19:00.

On July 23 and 24 at 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM, the House of Culture will host an immersive performance, which involves interaction with the actors. “Red Lantern”This “epistolary action,” as the creators of the play call it, is based on the letters and diaries of the last director of the imperial theaters, Vladimir Telyakovsky, who served in this position for almost 20 years and was dismissed in the spring of 1917.

And on July 26, the Central Alley will host the storytelling play “VDNKh: People. Time. Events” (directed by Maxim Filatov). Seven real stories of Muscovites formed the basis of the play, masterfully depicting the characters of people, important signs of the era and telling about amazing events that are hard to believe. A group of street musicians will give the play a special atmosphere, and the camera work of Rostislav Litsuk will place the necessary accents and focus the viewer’s attention on the actors’ performance.

Holding events for VDNKh guests corresponds to the objectives of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality” and is the most important part of the VDNKh strategy until 2030.

Arts Festival “Inspiration” is being implemented within the framework of the “Summer in Moscow” project.

Project “Summer in Moscow”— the main event of the season. It brings together the most vibrant events of the capital. Every day, charity, cultural and sports events are held in all districts of the city, most of which are free. The Summer in Moscow project is being held for the second time, and this season will be more eventful: new, original and colorful festivals and events will be added to the traditional ones.

Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, together with the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in India, held an educational master class for Indian schoolchildren who are passionate about chess.

Chess as a physical education discipline appeared at the Polytechnic University in 2021. Every semester, chess classes are attended by more than a hundred first- and second-year students. The Polytechnic University Chess Club, named after a university graduate, the first Soviet world champion, grandmaster Mikhail Botvinnik, regularly holds tournaments, including online ones. Our club’s Interuniversity project is the largest international online tournament among students in the world (more than 1,000 participants from 20 different countries). The Polytechnic University team is the champion of St. Petersburg and Russia in chess, and winners of the All-Russian Summer Universiade. The honor of the team was defended by FIDE masters, international masters, and grandmaster Kirill Alekseenko, who was a contender for the world chess crown at the time of his studies at the Polytechnic University.

The event, dedicated to the development of Russian-Indian cooperation in the field of education and sports, brought together young chess players from India. The program was rich and informative. Polytechnic University was represented by Pavel Martynov, an international FIDE master and candidate of pedagogical sciences with more than 10 years of experience, speaking via videoconference. He gave the children a remote lecture on how chess develops critical thinking, memory, concentration and strategic planning skills, and shared practical strategies that are useful both at the board and in studies.

The participants of the master class were shown a film about the Polytechnic University. The schoolchildren learned about the history, traditions, modern scientific achievements and the rich student life of the university. The children were reminded that the legendary Mikhail Botvinnik, the 6th world chess champion, the founder of the Soviet chess school, was a graduate of the Electromechanical Faculty of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute (now SPbPU) in 1932. This fact aroused keen interest among young Indian chess players, for whom the name Botvinnik is synonymous with chess greatness. The children got acquainted with his biography at a photo exhibition dedicated to outstanding chess players.

The theoretical part smoothly turned into the practical. Pavel Martynov held a session of simultaneous play with the schoolchildren. The children were able to test their strength and apply some of the ideas they heard in practice.

“It is a great honor for the Polytechnic University to continue the traditions established by such giants as Mikhail Botvinnik,” noted Pavel Martynov. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to share our developments with young talents of India and strengthen our friendly ties through the universal language of chess. The enthusiasm and level of play of Indian schoolchildren are impressive!”

The Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India expressed gratitude to SPbPU and personally to Pavel Martynov for organizing and holding a highly professional and educational event that promotes the popularization of the Russian language, Russian education and culture, and also strengthens friendship between the youth of the two countries.

URUMQI, July 22 (Xinhua) — Horgos Port in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, located on the China-Europe international freight train route, has developed into an important transportation hub for promoting international trade with astonishing speed. In the first half of this year, 471,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) containers (TEU) were transported by China-Europe freight trains through the port, up more than 26 percent year on year, according to Horgos Customs data.

Since the first China-Europe freight train passed through Horgos in 2016, a total of 88 China-Europe freight routes have been launched at the port, covering 46 cities in 18 countries. More than 100,000 items of goods are shipped across the globe every year, providing highly efficient and stable logistics corridors for Chinese-made products to be exported to countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.

Such successes were achieved not simply through “brute force.”

In May this year, Horgos Customs was the first in the country to implement the reform of the “smart railway checkpoint, fast-track customs clearance at the destination” model, reducing the transit time of imported goods from 2-3 days to less than 16 hours, and the average transshipment time for a return freight train is 2 hours on average. More than 27 China-Europe trains pass through Horgos every day, and the customs provides 24/7 services, ensuring immediate inspection of trains upon arrival, which has greatly reduced the customs clearance time of goods.

“Our company has been working as a checkpoint agent for over 10 years. China-Europe freight train services are fast and stable. In the first half of this year, we have already serviced over 1,300 such trains, which is 10 percent more than last year,” said Han Xing, COO of the Khorgos branch of Hong’an International Freight Forwarding Company.

In order to ensure the sustainable growth of the types and volumes of goods transported by trains on China-Europe routes, Khorgos Customs has been continuously deepening the reform of its operational activities, taking measures such as integrating customs control into the railway operation process, establishing a special service window for China-Europe trains, developing customized service solutions in accordance with the needs of shippers, etc. -0-

  • MIL-OSI Russia: From the first stitch to the finished image: how costumes are created at the Gorky Film Studio

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Cult films and millions of viewers watching TV – Gorky Film Studio, the oldest in Moscow and Russia, is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year. Today, it is one of the most important sites of the Moscow film cluster: filming takes place here, young actors, directors and cameramen are trained, and costumes for movie characters are created here. The latter is the job of the masters of the sewing shop of the costume and props complex. They can bring almost any idea to life. In their hands, rolls of fabric are transformed into clothes of different eras and styles.

A mos.ru correspondent went to the workshops to find out how the costumes of movie characters are designed and created.

From a Russian fairy tale to a flight into space

The costume and props complex is located on the territory of the Gorky Film Studio on Sergei Eisenstein Street (8, building 4). It occupies a four-story building with large windows not far from the main building.

We go inside and go up to the third floor. At the entrance we are met by rows of mannequins in traditional Russian costumes, ball gowns, sheepskin coats and tunics – a real inspiration for tailoring masters. We pass into the workshop with a sign “Cutting”. Elena Gritskevich, the chief cutter of the costume and props complex of the Gorky Film Studio, works at a long table surrounded by sketches and fabrics.

“The production of a film costume is a step-by-step process. Here, in the cutting room, the foundations for future outfits are laid. When the group is preparing to shoot a film, a costume designer is appointed who plans how the characters will look and what they will wear. He comes up with an image, draws sketches and takes photographs, buys fabric and contacts us. Together with him, we discuss the image, the features of the cut and other details, and I get to work. First, I agree with the actor who will be involved in this film about a meeting. We take measurements so that the suit fits well. Based on the measurements, I create patterns – a pattern on craft paper, and then cut it on fabric,” says Elena Gritskevich.

Over almost 30 years of work at the film studio, she created hundreds of patterns for a variety of images. These included outfits for fairy-tale characters, ball gowns for the heroines of screen adaptations of classical works, and spacesuits for movie astronauts.

Elena Gritskevich is currently working on a 19th-century military uniform for a historical film. There are images, sketches and drawings on the table, and a mannequin is wearing a cut-out uniform with bright temporary stitches and French pins. The craftsman always works by hand: she makes marks on the pattern with a piece of tailor’s soap and cuts out the product with large tailor’s scissors. Another indispensable tool is a brush. It can be used to remove any remaining lint from the fabric.

“The main thing in the work of a cutter is not just to design a suit, but to give it the desired look. The fact is that modern fabric is different from that of past centuries. It is lighter, freer and, as a rule, stretches well. To give it shape, we use special linings, glue an additional layer from the inside, use interlining with horsehair. For example, this is how we create military uniforms,” adds Elena Gritskevich.

Once the base is ready, the master invites the actor to a fitting. In the next room, at a large mirror, the final touches are made to the pattern. Then it is transferred to the sewing shop.

    Secrets of the sewing workshop

The sewing shop can be easily found by the clatter of sewing machines. We pass into a spacious room where four craftsmen work at tables opposite wide windows. In front of each is a sewing machine with a figured iron body and a rotating flywheel. Here, the pattern is transformed into clothing for the cinema.

All seams are made on industrial machines, and the edges are processed on an overlock. It simultaneously unwinds four spools and intertwines the threads, forming a line similar to a spider web. The result is neat seams. “Another useful machine is a semi-automatic looper. We put the fabric, press the pedal – and it makes a strong loop of threads itself. All we have to do is cut it in the middle so that we can fasten the button,” explains Elena Gritskevich.

Before assembly, the elements of the suit are necessarily subjected to heat treatment: they are ironed so that the material shrinks. This helps the finished product retain its shape and avoid deformation in the future. Irons in the sewing shop are heavy and do not have the functions that modern housewives are accustomed to.

“When creating historical costumes, it is important to preserve the sewing traditions that existed in past centuries. Hidden stitching, sloping shoulders, bends – such details contain historical truth. It helps create a picture on the screen that is close to the original. This way, an attentive viewer will be able to believe in what is happening,” adds the mos.ru interlocutor.

To create an accurate historical costume, the masters of the sewing workshop carefully study the chosen era. To do this, they store old books and magazines. On their pages are black and white images of a variety of outfits. If the information is insufficient, the specialists go to the capital’s museums. And you can also find inspiration in the costume and props complex itself. In the rooms adjacent to the sewing workshop, hundreds of costumes are stored – from fur coats and frock coats to lace dresses.

    Costumes – Legends of Cinema

The Gorky Film Studio also has a permanent exhibition. Costumes from legendary films, including those by the famous director Alexander Rou, are displayed on podiums under the light of lamps.

“In the last century, movie costumes were made from brocade, velvet, cloth, satin and other fabrics. Faux fur was used, and in rare cases, real fur. For example, Marfusha’s costume from Alexander Rowe’s film “Morozko” is trimmed with real fox tails. This decision was made not for beauty, but to keep warm – the filming took place in the winter in the Murmansk region,” says Maria Churkina, a tour guide at the Gorky Film Studio.

She points to a turquoise caftan with large wooden buttons. Inna Churikova played the role of the main character’s stepsister in the cult fairy tale. Here you can also see the clothes of other characters in the film – Ivan’s red caftan and Nastenka’s blue fur coat.

“They also used materials at hand to create costumes for the films. For example, the edge of the costume of Kartaus, the main antagonist from Gennady Vasiliev’s fairy tale “Finist the Bright Falcon” from 1975, is decorated with fangs. They look real, but they are fake. The fangs are made of plastic and covered with white paint,” says the mos.ru interlocutor.

Next to the costume of the villain Kartaus, another unusual outfit from the same fairy tale is presented – a watchman’s chainmail with round metal decorations on the sleeves and chest. They are made from tin cans. If you turn the leftmost circle over, you can see the inscription “Atlantic mackerel” on its inner part.

In glass stands you can see real legends of cinematography – outfits that are more than a hundred years old. For example, the brown dress of Madame de Renal from Sergei Gerasimov’s film “Red and Black” (1976) is noteworthy. The jacquard silk collar that adorns it was created around 1900.

Another old outfit is the ceremonial uniform of a chamberlain from the late 19th – early 20th century. It can be recognized by its large gold embroidery and buttons depicting the double-headed eagle of the Russian Empire. The costume was purchased by the Gorky Film Studio from the owner of an antique collection in 1954 for the filming of the movie “Anna on the Neck” by director Isidor Annensky and was intended for the famous actor Alexander Vertinsky – in the film he played the role of the prince.

You can learn about the history of the costume at thematic excursion on the film studio. Participants will also be told about the genres of cinematography and the technology used to shoot Soviet films. The history of costume will also be discussed during the excursion and master class “The Kingdom of Fairytale Costumes”.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: When Nature Meets Art. Exploring the Biocluster Exhibition at VDNKh

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The first biocluster in Russia has opened at VDNKh — a project of the Timiryazev State Biological Museum. Researcher of the museum’s scientific and exhibition department Danial Yurkevich and head of the public relations department Alexandra Belyaeva told us what served as the starting point of the project, how it will develop and what exhibits can be seen right now.

    Living and nonliving

The first site of the biocluster was pavilion No. 29 “Floriculture and landscaping”. Now there is an exhibition “Morphogenesis. Third nature”, where contemporary art is intertwined with the world of living nature. Dmitry Kawarga, Oleg Makarov, Aristarkh Chernyshev and Olga Bozhko provided their works for it.

Each terrarium is a unique world, which the museum has populated with various living creatures. The authors did not explain what kind of plot this or that work reveals, allowing the viewer to come up with their own association or even a whole story.

One of my favorite installations gives me the creeps. Quite a dark picture: skulls made with 3D printing, and fiery Madagascar cockroaches crawling on them. Everyone knows the expression about cockroaches in the head, which means that every person has their own oddities. I think this work perfectly illustrates it. Danial Yurkevich Researcher, Scientific and Exhibition Department, Timiryazev State Biological Museum

In the adjacent terrarium, an Indian tiger tarantula is spinning its web. Thanks to it, the plastic sculpture with silicone elements dripping down, as if growing from underground, looks quite alien – and therefore attractive.

“It’s a smooth transition from something anthropogenic, created by man, to something more natural, created by wild nature,” added Danial Yurkevich. “We’re interested in what it will look like when there are even more webs.”

A certain science fiction plot unfolds in the terrarium with trilobite beetles. They boldly explore a 3D-printed spaceship and seem to be studying mini-astronauts who crashed on an alien planet. “The beetles look like huge monsters compared to the little people, but in fact they are extremely peaceful creatures and do not pose any danger to us,” emphasized Danial Yurkevich.

Another story about a spaceship crash is embodied with the help of other insects — the spectacular Congolese bordered bronze beetles. Here Dmitry Kawarga decided to add a bit of drama and left one of the mini-astronauts hanging on parachute straps. Initially, the ship was supposed to stand on the ground, but then the artist included wooden elements in the installation, which the ship got caught on. The insects loved both wood and plastic equally.

Another terrarium is inhabited by Indonesian stick insects. In combination with the elongated sculptures they share, the insects do not seem to be alive, they are easily mistaken for branches. Thus, they become one with the structure, which looks like a bizarre mechanism: it is made entirely of wood, but the paint in some places turns it into metal.

    Plants, sculptures, interactive

In addition to terrariums, the exhibition also features larger exhibits — biomorphic sculptures. They could easily decorate a post-apocalyptic world: destroyed transport, disjointed metal structures.

They are installed surrounded by exotic plants, of which there are more than a thousand. They were provided not only by the Timiryazev State Biological Museum, but also by its friends — the Tsitsin State Biological Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve. Guests can see aglaonemas, cycads, philodendrons, dracaenas and much more.

The exhibition is complemented by a spatial sound composition by Oleg Makarov. “Soundflowers” is a sound abstraction inspired by the processes of flowering – from buds to fruit ovaries. Time flows much faster in sound flowers than in biological ones: flowering can take place in just a few seconds. Such speed gives listeners the opportunity to hear dozens of different soundflowers during their visit.

The program also includes film screenings, lectures, and family master classes, where anyone can learn, for example, how to cook “soil porridge.”

Our scientific programs are the legacy of the museum’s historical traditions, rethought in line with modern trends. We open the way for visitors to new knowledge and ideas about life and nature. Alexandra Belyaeva, Head of Public Relations, K.A. Timiryazev State Biological Museum

The exhibition “Morphogenesis. Third Nature” is temporary and will run until November 2025. After that, the pavilion will undergo a major re-exposition, which will result in a permanent exhibition opening here.

    Other sites

During the year, four more biocluster sites will be created at VDNKh. Its center will be pavilion No. 312 — all aspects of biology will be discussed here. It is currently in the process of development.

Pavilion No. 28 “Beekeeping” will be dedicated to the life of insects. The country’s first entomological laboratory will be open here – guests will be able to test all the knowledge they have acquired in practice: the latest equipment will be available to them for this purpose. In Pavilion No. 17, the “World of Dinosaurs” will be recreated – for those interested in prehistoric lizards and the natural landscapes of the Mesozoic era.

In addition, pavilion No. 31 “Geology” will also become part of the biocluster. In 2022, the exhibition “12 Signs of Life” opened there, which began the development of the museum’s new strategy.

Online tour of pavilion No. 31 “Geology” at VDNKhFor Environmental Education Day: Where at VDNKh you can get to know the natural world

“By creating a biocluster, we set you the task of not only opening a new pavilion or exhibition, but also allowing you to look at modern biology from a different perspective. In each pavilion, visitors will be able to see a modern scientific and educational exhibition dedicated to a specific section of biology. For each point of the biocluster, we have prepared unique programs and excursions,” emphasized Alexandra Belyaeva.

An audio guide and a mobile application are also being developed specifically for the biocluster – with their help, guests will find it easier to navigate and gain new knowledge.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Almost 1,200 standard-type houses will undergo major repairs in the capital

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

In 2025, almost 1,200 houses built according to standard series will undergo major repairs in the capital. The progress and features of these works were reported by the Moscow City Economy Complex.

Crowning cornice and interfloor belt made of brick

One of the buildings undergoing renovation is located at 5th Voykovsky Proezd, Building 10. The five-story building was erected in 1959 according to a standard series project. It has a simple plan. The entrance vestibules are highlighted with rustication. Along the perimeter there is a multi-profile crowning cornice and an interfloor belt made of brick. The building’s façade and basement will be renovated, and the utility systems will be replaced. Specialists from the Capital Repair Fund (CRF) have developed a project that takes into account all the features of the building.

The facade renovation began with washing and cleaning open surfaces from dust and dirt. Then the builders will fill the weathered joints with a special compound and replace individual brick segments. Wet areas will be treated with antiseptic solutions. After a set of preparatory works, specialists will begin hydrophobization of the brickwork. This will help prevent the aggressive impact of precipitation on the walls of the building. At the last stage, the entrances and balconies will be repaired, and new drainpipes will be hung.

In addition, the basement areas of the building will be tidied up and the drainage, central heating, hot and cold water supply systems will be replaced.

    L-shape and decorative tiles

Work is also underway in the building at 97 Altufevskoe Shosse. It was built in 1979 according to a standard series project. The house has an L-shaped plan and consists of two volumes.

The specialists will put the facade, roof, basement in order, and also replace a number of internal engineering systems. Particular attention will be paid to the renovation of the building walls, which were finished with decorative tiles at the factory. In almost half a century, they have lost their color, and in some places they have fallen off. To restore facades of this type, the Moscow FKR has developed a special technology using polymer-cement mixtures on reinforcing meshes. The composition can be applied directly to the old tiles.

For the convenience of residents, the work was divided into stages. First, specialists will wash open surfaces, tap and remove peeling tiles. Then they will apply a special plaster-adhesive and at the same time reinforcing composition, which contains a fiberglass or basalt fiber mesh. After the base layer, it will be time to apply decorative plaster, a special vapor-permeable paint coating, and seal the interpanel seams. The facade will be painted white and yellow.

In addition, the entrance groups will be put in order and the basement covering will be renewed. New modern double-glazed windows will be installed in the entrances. The roof decking will be replaced, the screed will be renewed, the slope will be restored and soft roofing will be laid. The basement of the building will also be put in order and the utility lines will be replaced.

Simple shapes, loggia niches and color accents

In 2025, a major overhaul of a residential building located at 5 Kolomenskaya Street, Building 2 is underway. This is a sixteen-story panel building, erected according to a standard series in 1983. Its main façade is accentuated by protruding vestibules of entrance groups. The loggia niches are highlighted in color.

The facade is planned to be updated here. The work will begin with washing open surfaces and clearing interpanel seams from old filling. At the next stage, wet areas will be treated with antiseptic solutions. Then specialists will start laying insulation in the interpanel seams. After that, a new paint layer will be applied to the walls and the interpanel seams will be sealed with a two-component composition. The facade will be painted white and blue.

At the final stage of the major renovation of the facade, specialists will replace the balcony screens, level the balcony slabs and lay new flooring, as well as repair the basement of the building and make a new asphalt concrete blind area.

The Moscow City Services Complex noted that the regional housing stock capital repairs program being implemented in the capital is in line with the goals and objectives of the national project “Infrastructure for life”.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Over the course of six months, following the results of auctions, the city sold and leased more than 7.5 hectares of land for the construction of real estate

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

In the first half of 2025, investors leased and purchased land for the construction of various facilities in six administrative districts of the capital. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Vladimir Efimov.

“Over the first six months of 2025, based on the results of auctions, more than 40 plots with a total area of over 7.5 hectares were leased and purchased from the city. Almost 84.2 thousand square meters of real estate are planned to be built on these sites, including industrial, public and business facilities and private residential buildings. The land is located in six administrative districts, the majority of which is in TiNAO: there are 36 plots there. Two objects were purchased in the southwest and west, one in the east and southeast of the capital,” Vladimir Efimov noted.

For the construction of non-residential facilities, the city offers investors two formats: a land lease agreement for construction or an agreement on the implementation of a large-scale investment project (MaIP).

“Based on the results of the first half of the year, entrepreneurs signed three agreements with the city on the implementation of the MAIP. According to one of them, a modern retail and office building will appear on the territory of the administrative and business center “Kommunarka”, the second provides for the construction of two industrial facilities with an area of 12.5 thousand square meters in the Nekrasovka and Vnukovo districts. Another 36 plots, mainly in the Troitsky administrative district, were sold to individuals for individual housing construction. Commercial buildings will be erected under three land lease agreements in the southwest of the capital and in the Tatar Administrative District,” she noted.

Ekaterina Solovieva, Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Moscow Department of City Property.

You can find out information about land plots put up for auction, rules for holding auctions and study the documentation in the section “Moscow Trades” on the capital’s investment portal. All contracts are concluded electronically in the buyer’s personal account.

According to the head of the Moscow City Department for Competition Policy Kirill Purtov, the capital offers a convenient format for holding auctions and guarantees legal purity and transparency of the transaction, which contributes to the popularity of city auctions among entrepreneurs and city residents. In the first six months of this year, at auctions for the sale of land plots for the construction of both commercial and residential properties, an average of 11 participants bid for one lot.

The development of electronic services for entrepreneurs is being implemented within the framework of the national project “Data Economy”.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Gas supply systems in 467 Moscow homes to be updated under capital repairs program

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Specialists from the capital’s municipal services complex will update in-house gas supply systems in 467 apartment buildings. The work will be carried out within the framework of capital repair programsThis was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Public Utilities and Improvement Petr Biryukov.

“The capital’s capital repair program is one of the most significant housing modernization projects not only in Russia, but also in the world. We are carrying out work to update not only the exterior of the building: the facade, roof and entrance group, but also the engineering systems. During the program’s implementation, we have completed capital repairs of in-house gas supply systems in 2,343 apartment buildings. This year, work is planned for another 467, and it has already been completed at 301 facilities,” noted Pyotr Biryukov.

Timely repair of equipment is important for its safe operation and organization of uninterrupted gas supply. In their work, specialists use modern technical solutions. For example, they use ball valves with three degrees of protection against accidental opening. They limit the flow of gas in case of equipment failure and temperature exposure. In addition, flexible gas piping made of stainless steel with PVC coating and a dielectric insert are installed in houses. This is done to protect against external influences and to eliminate an emergency situation when stray currents appear.

Gas risers inside an apartment building are common property, so apartment owners must promptly provide specialists with access to the work sites.

According to current regulations, the service life of an in-house gas pipeline is 30 years. After this time, the equipment wears out and requires replacement.

The regional program for capital repairs of housing stock being implemented in the capital corresponds to the goals and objectives of the national project “Infrastructure for life”.

At construction of the metro special attention is paid to ecology. This is reported inon your telegram channel Sergei Sobyanin reported.

“Our task is to use natural resources rationally. Both during the work and during the operation of the metro,” the Mayor of Moscow noted.

To do this, specialists conduct environmental monitoring of air, ground and surface water, and soil analysis. All samples are examined in independent laboratories. Most often, such testing is used when tunneling, which affects the territories of national parks or protected areas. Thus, it was carried out during the construction of the Big Ring Line (BCL), when tunnel boring machines worked under the territories of nature conservation areas and repeatedly crossed the water area of the Moscow River.

After work, builders remove and dispose of all waste, including soil. For example, at the ZIL station Trinity line To create the pits and reversible culverts, it was necessary to remove a total of almost 400 thousand cubic meters of earth.

After the work is completed, green spaces are restored. Thus, more than 600 bushes and trees will be planted near the Stolbovo electric depot, and about 1.4 thousand in TiNAO. Among the already implemented projects, one can highlight the improvement of the adjacent territory of the Kuntsevskaya station of the Big Circle Line. Almost 300 trees and 2.5 thousand bushes were planted here – a new park for citizens to relax appeared.

Construction of monolithic structures of the Lipovaya Roshcha metro station has begunSergei Sobyanin: The first metro train arrived at the Stolbovo electric depot under construction

“We minimize harm to the animal world. For example, trees and bushes are cut down before the nesting period. Grass is not burned and chemical reagents are not used,” added Sergei Sobyanin.

All these measures help to avoid negative impacts on the environment and the health of construction workers, passengers and metro personnel.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: The Museum of Entrepreneurs, Patrons and Philanthropists of Moscow presents the exhibition “Rediscover Russian PR”

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

IN Museum of Entrepreneurs, Patrons and Philanthropists On July 23, the exhibition “Rediscover Russian PR” will open. The exposition will introduce visitors to the history of public relations in Russia and show how the reputations of domestic entrepreneurs and industrialists were formed, destroyed and restored.

“By studying the origins of entrepreneurial activity, Moscow entrepreneurs will be able to learn not only about the legacy of business culture, but also find inspiration and practical guidelines for modern business communications. Such projects form the value of continuity and strengthen the connection between generations,” she noted.

Kristina Kostroma, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the City of Moscow.

The exhibition is based on the study and analysis of primary sources — business press, memoirs, materials from industrialists’ congresses, and other historical documents. Among them are more than a thousand newspaper issues from 1861–1917, including Moskovskiye Vedomosti, Russkoye Slovo, Golos Moskvy, Birzhevye Vedomosti, and Kommersant.

The exhibition includes stands describing historical cases from the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries in the areas of education, patronage and social support. They feature examples of press publications, early press releases and anti-crisis PR campaigns from past eras. The exhibition will reveal the PR tools of Russian entrepreneurs — from creating a personal brand to influencing public opinion and government decisions.

Examples include the educational project “Agronomic Train,” which clearly demonstrated modern agricultural technologies to farmers, the anti-crisis media strategy in the Savva Mamontov case, which influenced public perception of the trial, and the activities of the first advertising agencies, which were engaged not only in advertising, but also in promoting news items.

“The practice and history of Russian PR is currently taught only in specialized educational institutions, and, unfortunately, we are still learning from Western examples. Meanwhile, a huge number of Russian entrepreneurs have contributed to the development of the economy, education, and culture. Our task as a museum is to continue and support research in this area, as well as in other insufficiently studied areas, such as the experience of building entrepreneurial dynasties,” emphasized Nadezhda Smirnova, director of the Museum of Entrepreneurs, Patrons, and Philanthropists, member of the Moscow Council of Entrepreneurs.

The exhibition will last until September 1. To visit, you must purchase a ticket to the Museum of Entrepreneurs, Patrons and Philanthropists, which includes a comprehensive tour. It includes a viewing of the permanent exhibition, as well as materials from the exhibition “Rediscover Russian PR”.

The organizers of the exhibition were the digital agency Interium, the Museum of Entrepreneurs, Patrons and Philanthropists, members of the Council of Entrepreneurs of the City of Moscow, participants of the working group on PR and advertising, operating at the site of the capital headquarters for business protection.

The Business Protection Headquarters, subordinate to the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the City of Moscow, ensures the processing of individual requests from Moscow entrepreneurs, facilitates the resolution of systemic issues and builds effective communication between businesses and government bodies.
