ANKARA, July 18 (Xinhua) — Turkish security forces have detained 153 suspects in 28 provinces over the past two weeks in a major counter-terrorism operation against the Islamic State (IS) movement, the Turkish Cabinet said on Friday.

The operation, carried out by gendarmerie units, targeted suspected ISIS members in the provinces of Adana, Antalya, Istanbul, Izmir and 24 other provinces, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on the social network X.

The detainees are accused of being members of IS, funding charities allegedly linked to IS and spreading terrorist propaganda through their social media accounts, the minister added.

“The operations will continue without interruption,” said A. Yerlikaya, sharing footage of the raids.

Türkiye declared ISIS a terrorist organization in 2013, accusing its militants of carrying out a series of deadly attacks in the country. –0–

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Rosneft and the Ministry of Tourism of the Samara Region presented the second joint project for auto tourists “Zavolzhskie Gorizonty”. The route runs through the natural and cultural attractions of the Samara and Saratov Regions.

The route presentation was organized at the Rosneft gas station in Samara, where the Company’s volunteers held a thematic quiz for car owners with useful prizes. During the presentation, the famous Russian racing driver of the LADA Sport ROSNEFT team Vladimir Sheshenin held an autograph session, during which everyone could take a joint photo with the famous athlete.

Rosneft actively supports initiatives to develop domestic tourism and aims to create comfortable conditions for car travelers. Developing roadside service and improving the level of customer service provided at Rosneft filling stations is one of the Company’s priority areas of activity.

The “Zavolzhskie Horizons” route starts in Samara, where the dacha of the merchant Golovkin is located. The building was built in the early 20th century in the Art Nouveau style and is a cultural heritage site. A distinctive feature of the house, located on a steep bank, is two life-size sculptures of elephants. They are clearly visible from ships passing along the Volga.

On the way out of the capital of the province, travelers can visit the Vertoletka culture and recreation park, which is recognized as the best implemented public space project in Russia and has become the best observation deck in the city. The steep bank offers breathtaking panoramic views of Samara, the majestic Volga and the legendary Zhiguli Mountains.

The route then leads to the Serebro Severa ethnographic center in the village of Yagodnoye, where guests can get acquainted with northern culture, visit a reindeer camp and a village with sled dogs. In ancient Syzran, tourists will meet history at the Spasskaya Tower, the only surviving structure of the 17th-century Syzran Kremlin, a cultural heritage site of federal significance.

The journey along the route ends in Khvalynsk, Saratov Region, in the national park – the center of ecotourism, preserving rare species of flora and fauna, with its holy springs, eco-trails and thematic exhibitions and museums dedicated to representatives of flora and fauna.

“Zavolzhskie Gorizonty” became the second tourist route developed by Rosneft and the Ministry of Tourism of the Samara Region within the framework of the agreement signed in 2024 Memorandum of Cooperation between the Company and the Regional Government.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: The State University of Management will provide expert and analytical support in organizing the activities of the commissions of the State Council of Russia

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Official website of the State –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

On July 17, 2025, the State University of Management was visited on a working visit by GUU graduates: Anton Ageyev, General Director of the ANO “Expert Coordination Center of the Commissions of the State Council of the Russian Federation”, Deputy Chairperson of the State Council of Russia Commission on Personnel Elena Lagoshina, Deputy Governor of the Kaluga Region Tatyana Leonova.

At the beginning of the meeting, the rector of the State University of Management Vladimir Stroev spoke in detail about his participation in the work of the 1st All-Russian Festival of Student Families.

Anton Ageyev, Director General of the Expert Coordination Center of the Commissions of the State Council of Russia, outlined the purpose of the working visit. Since April of this year, the structure of the State Council commissions that work in the areas of national projects has been changed.

Let us recall that Decree No. 309 of the President of Russia in May 2025 defined the national development goals of the Russian Federation until 2030.

Given the cross-cutting, interdepartmental nature of the national projects developed in pursuance of this Decree, it is necessary to strengthen interaction with the scientific and expert community. For this purpose, it is planned to conclude an agreement with the State University of Management, which implies the joint implementation of the tasks facing the commissions of the State Council of the Russian Federation in the relevant areas of socio-economic development, for which it is supposed to use the scientific and educational potential of the oldest management university in the country.

The meeting participants discussed the development and implementation of research, expert-analytical, educational and project activities; areas of preparation, publication and distribution of methodological, analytical and information materials; organization and holding of joint events, exchange of experience, best practices and information in the field of joint activities.

Deputy Governor of the Kaluga Region Tatyana Leonova outlined priority areas of joint work, which will primarily concern the activities of the State Council commissions “Personnel”, and noted the need for interdepartmental cooperation to solve the strategic task set by the President of Russia to achieve technological leadership for Russia.

Vice-Rector of the State University of Management Maria Karelina proposed a systematic approach to solving the issues under discussion and integrating the results of the work of the State Council commissions into mathematical models, formalizing this in the form of a special project.

The meeting participants particularly focused on the issue of eliminating the need for personnel and current instruments for regulating the labor market: forecasting the need, recruiting students in sought-after specialties in colleges and universities, and cooperation with employers and the state.

The guests and representatives of the rector’s office of the State University of Management exchanged many other ideas, one of which suggested the obligation of all state structures to post their research on a single resource, which will expand the analytical capabilities of the State Council commissions and speed up the synchronization and updating of data.

The colleagues compared schedules and agreed to approve specific projects in the near future within the framework of the cooperation and interaction agreement.

This year, this level of passenger traffic was achieved 77 days earlier than last year, the department added.

According to Luo Minxuan, an employee of the department, over 146 thousand foreigners entered China through the checkpoint at Tianshan Airport during the reporting period, which is 1.3 times more than during the same period in 2024. Among them, more than 39 thousand people took advantage of the visa-free regime.

In addition to the existing 24 international passenger air routes, the airport recently opened two new routes – Urumqi-Tianjin (Northern China)-Osaka (Japan) and Urumqi-Shymkent (Kazakhstan), which once again stimulated the demand for business and tourist travel to foreign countries.

According to Luo Minxuan, the airport has seen a significant increase in the number of family tours abroad and cross-border tour groups. She added that over 60 percent of Chinese citizens who left the country through the Tianshan checkpoint went to five Central Asian countries as well as the Transcaucasian countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. -0-

Students of the State University of Management visited the II International Dostoevsky Student Camp in the Kaluga Region, which operated within the framework of the IV Spiritual and Educational Project “Days of Dostoevsky in Optina Pustyn 2025”.

The project is dedicated to the memory of an important event in the writer’s spiritual life and his work: on July 7, 1878, Fyodor Dostoevsky visited Optina Pustyn for the first time, where his meeting with the venerable elder Ambrose summed up the writer’s many years of spiritual and creative quest, and the elder himself became the prototype of the elder Zosima in the writer’s novel The Brothers Karamazov.

This year, the tent camp welcomed more than 200 participants from 17 universities in Russia and Belarus, and citizens of 24 countries.

At the official opening, the participants of the spiritual and educational project were addressed by the monastery’s abbot Bishop Joseph, the governor of the Kaluga region, a graduate of the State University of Management Vladislav Shapsha, the writer’s great-great-grandson Alexey Dostoevsky, and also by video address by the head of the Russian Book Union Sergey Stepashin. After the official part, students of the universities, who were participating in the event for the first time, planted trees on the alley of oaks.

As part of the three-day program, the participants went on an excursion to Optina Pustyn, took part in the historical quest “Along the Route of the Pilgrims of the 19th Century,” during which they completed tasks based on Old Slavonic games and amusements, rafted on a pontoon across the Zhizdra River, walked along the historical pilgrimage trail that has existed for more than 3 centuries, and attended motivational meetings and discussions with famous people.

Nikita Smirnov, a student of the State and Municipal Administration program, shared his impressions of the trip: “The Dostoevsky Camp was not just an event for me, but a real intellectual and spiritual discovery. This is a place where bright, thinking people from different parts of the world meet, where discussions are born that inspire the search for deep meanings, and where every day gives something valuable. This is a place where meanings are truly born. Now these days, filled with live communication and joint discoveries, will forever remain in my memory.”

“Our trip was a pleasant discovery, accompanied by new meetings, gaining new knowledge about Russian culture and Orthodoxy, its role in the life of a Russian person and its significance for the current and future generations. Optina Pustyn is certainly not so much a historical center as a cultural one, where since the 12th century people have gathered and continue to gather, tirelessly fighting for enlightenment and the development of spirituality in people, for the opportunity to introduce people to God’s commandments,” added Dmitry Kamchatov, a student of the Economics program.

Diana Mikhailova, a student in the Economics program, confirmed: “The trip to Optina Pustyn was a truly unforgettable event for students from many countries, and the camp itself was located in a very picturesque area. There were many excursions and events aimed at both cultural development and bringing students from different universities closer together. Thanks to the camp program, many students understood such spiritual values as kindness, love for God, for one’s neighbor, for the Motherland.”

A student of the Banking and Digital Banking program, Lyubov Aleksandrovskaya, noted the high level of organization of the project: “I would like to express my gratitude to all the organizers: the Bishop and the brethren for their prayers, the hosts, photographers, invited speakers, sponsors, the director, DJs, volunteers, representatives of the security structure, who modestly, but faithfully and reliably did their job. It seems to me that the unique atmosphere in the camp is due to the fact that everyone in their place works sincerely, with soul, with a kind attitude to everyone around them. And, of course, thanks to the guys. Thank you for these wonderful 5 days to everyone, and prosperity to the project!”

The participation of students of the State University of Management in the project became possible thanks to cooperation with the rector of the Church of St. Andrew Bogolyubsky in Volzhsky, Father Kirill. Let us recall that the State University of Management also holds patriotic events, meetings with heroes of the SVO, talks about marriage and family, and sends dry souls and trench candles made by students to the front as part of the “GUU – SVOim” campaign.

XI’AN, July 18 (Xinhua) — Staff at a national nature reserve in Zhouzhi County, northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, recently discovered rare footage of a brown giant panda captured by an infrared camera in 2025.

The footage was taken at 6:15 p.m. on January 1 in Zhennangou, a district near the main ridge of the Qinling Mountains that falls under the jurisdiction of the Laoxiancheng Nature Reserve. In the video, the brown giant panda appears strong and healthy as it walks calmly in the snow.

Zhouzhi Nature Reserve is located on the northern slope of the Qinling Mountains. This is the second time the reserve has independently recorded a brown giant panda in the wild, after April 16, 2021. This is the 12th time an individual of this subspecies of giant panda has been spotted in Shaanxi Province.

Brown giant pandas are extremely rare. So far, scientifically documented sightings of brown giant pandas, including this one, have only been recorded in four counties in Shaanxi Province – Foping, Yangxian, Taibai and Zhouzhi. All are located in the Qinling Mountains region. -0-

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Global economic volatility due to US tariff policy has caused unemployment to rise in Australia: Treasurer

CANBERRA, July 18 (Xinhua) — Volatility in the global economy caused by U.S. tariffs is one reason for rising unemployment in Australia, Treasurer Jim Chalmers said on Friday.

The politician told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) that the volatility, unpredictability and uncertainty caused by US tariffs had become a “defining and permanent feature of the global economy” and Australia was not immune.

The federal government has heard from business leaders and economists that U.S. trade policy has influenced local hiring decisions, Chalmers said.

“I think people are embracing this uncertainty and unpredictability as the new normal. It requires us to change our thinking,” he said.

Official data released on Thursday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed Australia’s unemployment rate rose from 4.1 per cent in May to 4.3 per cent in June, the highest since November 2021.

Chalmers said the rise in unemployment was unwelcome but not surprising, and the government forecast unemployment would rise further but remain below 5 per cent.

The treasurer made the announcement while in South Africa, where he is attending a meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors in Durban.

In bilateral discussions and major meetings, the view has “definitely” emerged that the U.S. tariff policy is unjustified, unnecessary and an act of economic self-destruction, the official said. –0–

  • MIL-OSI Russia: SPbGASU has proven that the aesthetics of solid waste facilities increases their efficiency

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

    Valeria Supranovich, Arina Safronova

SPbGASU has proven that the aesthetics of a solid municipal waste (MSW) handling facility increases its energy efficiency, energy conservation and environmental friendliness throughout its entire service life.

During her five-year research, Valeria Supranovich, PhD in Architecture and Associate Professor of the Department of Architectural Design at SPbGASU, identified a number of possible high-quality architectural solutions that, in conjunction with technological systems for self-sufficiency of buildings and facade elements, will allow them to organically fit into the urban system. The Associate Professor also developed ways to integrate additional public functions into these objects at various economic costs. All this will allow the implementation of sustainable development goals in the architecture of solid waste management facilities. Valeria Supranovich completed this research work, “Methods of Functional Planning Organization of Solid Waste Management Facilities in Russia,” within the framework of the grant of scientific and pedagogical workers of SPbGASU 2025.

Since March 2024, amendments to Federal Law No. 451 “On Production and Consumption Waste” have come into force, which have completely updated the waste management system and the regulatory process in terms of extended responsibility of the manufacturer of goods. Moreover, within the framework of the programs of the XXIV International Forum “Ecology of the Big City” and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, held in St. Petersburg in 2025, agreements were signed to finance projects for the construction of waste disposal facilities, the creation of the necessary infrastructure to reduce the percentage of waste disposal and the country’s transition to a “closed loop” economy (a production and consumption model that involves reuse, recovery and recycling of existing materials and products for as long as possible) to achieve the goals of sustainable development of the country. This is a powerful impetus for the active implementation of solid waste management facilities in the existing urban system.

“Today, approaches to the design of solid waste facilities and the facilities themselves do not meet the goals of sustainable development, as they are considered economically inexpedient. However, in the course of scientific research conducted from 2020 to 2025, I was able to identify the opportunity to revise the existing methods of project activities. One example of waste management facilities that meet the goals of sustainable development is the world’s largest W2E plant “Shenzhen Energy Ring” (Shenzhen, China). The new plant is designed to process 5,000 tons of waste per day and simultaneously produce 600 million kilowatt-hours per year. The facility has a round shape, uncharacteristic for manufacturing enterprises, to combine all production units into a single structure and simultaneously reduce the area of the plant, includes zones for the formation and popularization of waste disposal procedures, and photovoltaic panels are provided for on the roof. The architecture of the facility is not utilitarian, it corresponds to the context of the environment,” explained Valeria Supranovich.

In the course of the current scientific research, she studied the theoretical components of the concept of “sustainable architecture” and proposed a system of their interaction. It was established that the aesthetic qualities of the object allow not only to humanize the appearance of the enterprise, but also to ensure high energy efficiency, environmental friendliness and energy saving of the building throughout the expected service life. The goals of sustainable development in the architecture of waste management facilities should be implemented taking into account their typological affiliation, Valeria Supranovich clarified.

Some theoretical results of this study were implemented in her diploma work “Technopark complex with waste processing function, Saint Petersburg, Yuntolovo district” by Arina Safronova, a graduate of the master’s program of the Department of Architectural Design of SPbGASU (supervisor – Valeria Supranovich).
