  • MIL-OSI USA: Kean Applauds SBA Extension of Business Recovery Center in Wharton and Pushes for Broader State Aid

Source: US Representative Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07)

(April 23, 2025) Bernardsville, NJ – Today, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) issued the following statement after the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) extended operations at the Business Recovery Center in Wharton, NJ, through May 6, providing additional time for small businesses impacted by the I-80 sinkhole related closures to receive in-person support.

The Congressman previously announced that the SBA approved New Jersey’s disaster declaration request, making Economic Injury Disaster Loans available to small businesses in Morris County and adjacent counties impacted by the closures. The extension of the Business Recovery Center offers affected businesses more time to access federal resources and guidance directly from SBA personnel.

Congressman Kean also urged Governor Phil Murphy and New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) to expand the geographic scope of its Route 80 Business Assistance Grant Program beyond Morris County to include Sussex County. While this state-level grant program is available to small businesses in Morris County, it does not help nearby businesses in Sussex County, which have also experienced significant economic hardship due to the sinkhole-related disruptions.

“The SBA’s rapid approval of Economic Injury Disaster Loans for small businesses impacted by the I-80 closure continues to provide meaningful relief for businesses in Morris County, as well as the adjacent counties,” said Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. “With the Business Recovery Center in Wharton now extended through May 6, affected businesses have additional time to access critical, on-the-ground support. State-level support programs should also be expanded beyond Morris County to help other severely impacted businesses, including those in Sussex County.”

    Background:

On March 28th, Congressman Kean sent a letter to Governor Murphy urging him to submit an official disaster declaration request to the SBA. After subsequent submission, the SBA granted this request within one day, unlocking federal assistance for small businesses suffering substantial economic loss due to the I-80 sinkhole related closures. Eligible businesses in Morris, Essex, Hunterdon, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union, and Warren counties can apply HERE for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan.

The SBA’s Business Recovery Center at the Wharton Municipal Building will now remain open through Tuesday, May 6, operating Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, and on Saturdays from 10:00am to 2:00pm. SBA representatives will continue offering personalized assistance to business owners navigating the loan application process and recovery resources.

    CONTACT: Gabriel Spencer, Gabriel.spencer@mail.house.gov

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Mary Miller (IL-15) sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of the Department of Education Linda McMahon, urging an immediate investigation into the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and the State of Illinois for actions that undermine fairness and safety in girls’ sports. In the letter, Rep. Miller cites blatant violations of federal law and the rejection of biological reality as grounds for urgent federal investigation.

Read the Fox News Exclusive HERE.

“The Illinois High School Association has crossed a dangerous line. By blatantly violating federal law and rejecting biological reality, they are not only undermining fairness in girls’ sports — they’re putting the safety of young women at risk,” said Congresswoman Mary Miller. “I’m calling on Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary Linda McMahon to launch an immediate investigation into the IHSA and the State of Illinois. Governor JB Pritzker and radical Illinois Democrats must be held accountable for enforcing abusive, anti-science gender policies ahead of the safety of our daughters and the fairness of girls’ sports.”

Read the letter to Attorney General Bondi and Secretary McMahon HERE.

Congresswoman Mary Miller introduced H.R. 2452, the Keep Our Girls Safe Act. This legislation would codify President Trump’s Executive Order 14201 and strip federal funding from any school that defies the commonsense protections for women and girls established under President Trump’s leadership.

Plant City is projected to lead Hillsborough County in both population and job growth in the coming decades. As our community rapidly expands, it’s more critical than ever to equip children and families with the knowledge and tools to stay safe online.

“In today’s digital world, online safety isn’t optional—it’s essential,” said Congresswoman Laurel Lee. “Kids in Plant City and throughout the Tampa Bay area should have access to the tools and knowledge they need to stay safe online. By teaching students how to navigate the internet wisely, safety programs and responsible legislation can help protect them today and give them skills for a safer, smarter future.”

“The Hillsborough County School District is deeply committed to creating a safe and supportive learning environment, both in the classroom and online,” said Marshall Middle Magnet School principal Dennis Mayo. “Thanks to Google’s support and innovative online safety tools, our students are gaining the skills they need to navigate the digital world with confidence and care. We’re grateful for this partnership and the opportunity to help our young learners thrive in a digital world.”

Google’s Online Safety Roadshow is based on the Be Internet Awesome curriculum, which focuses on five tips for staying safe and being smart online. Those tips include:

    • Sharing content with care.
    • Don’t fall for fake online scams.
    • Secure your information with strong passwords.
    • Be kind to others online.
    • When in doubt, talk it out with a trusted adult.

Brattleboro, VT – Today,  Rep. Becca Balint (VT-AL) released the following statement in response to the eight workers at a Vermont dairy farm detained on Monday.

“Today we learned, eight workers at Pleasant Valley Farm in Vermont were arrested. Border patrol gave no reason for the arrest. My office is closely monitoring the situation to ensure every person in this country is given the due process they deserve.

“Vermonters know these family farms are the lifeblood of our communities. When farm workers are living in fear that they will be snatched up, it doesn’t make us safer. It leaves us without food on our tables and real families without parents or siblings at home. The Trump administration is yet again intent on not only ripping apart families but taking our agriculture industry down with it.”

  • MIL-OSI USA: Feenstra Asks Trump Administration to Allow Nationwide Sale of E-15 This Summer

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Randy Feenstra (IA-04)

HULL, IOWA – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) joined a letter – led by U.S. Reps. Adrian Smith (R-NE) and Angie Craig (D-MN) – urging the Trump administration to allow for the nationwide sale of E-15 this summer.

In a bipartisan letter to President Donald Trump, Feenstra and his colleagues asked the Trump administration to extend the Reid vapor pressure (RVP) waiver from June 1 through September 15, 2025.

“To safeguard our energy supply, we must preserve the home-grown, affordable option higher ethanol blends provide,” the lawmakers wrote. “The administration’s efforts to unleash American energy independence is a long-term goal but can begin in the short term with preserving flexibility in our domestic energy production and supply through this emergency waiver.”

“Extending the nationwide sale of E15 can again bolster our nation’s energy resilience by adding billions of gallons of ethanol to the nation’s fuel supply, lowering the cost of gas for American families at a time when prices are already too high,” the lawmakers continued. “As affirmed when you first allowed for year-round E15 in 2019, and those approved for the summers afterward, the sale of higher blends of biofuels during the summer months supports the domestic fuel supply, reduces consumer costs, and promotes American biofuels and agriculture feedstocks.”

In February, Feenstra joined a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin, urging the EPA to prioritize homegrown Iowa biofuels as part of the Trump administration’s energy dominance strategy.

Feenstra has also worked every Congress to make E-15 permanently available at gas stations year-round and nationwide.

The full letter can be read HERE or below:

    Dear President Trump:

We write to once again request your swift action to permit the nationwide sale of fuel blended with up to 15 percent ethanol (E15) during the 2025 summer driving season by extending the Reid vapor pressure (RVP) waiver from June 1 through September 15, 2025.

In 2022, 2023 and 2024 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) enabled the year-round sale of E15 by granting temporary waivers under Clean Air Act Section 211(c)(4)(C)(ii), temporarily waiving the 9.0 psi RVP limit for ethanol gasoline blends. This action allowed the U.S. energy supply chain to remain resilient, despite conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, by bolstering the domestic biofuels market, lowering gas prices, and empowering consumer choice.

To safeguard our energy supply, we must preserve the home-grown, affordable option higher ethanol blends provide. Agriculture and energy supply chains are exceptionally responsive to market shocks. Efforts to realign our trade balances, particularly with key energy partners, can create uncertainty in the short term. This is only exacerbated by the ongoing war in Ukraine, which continues to impact the global energy availability and reshape supply lines. The administration’s efforts to unleash American energy independence is a long-term goal but can begin in the short term with preserving flexibility in our domestic energy production and supply through this emergency waiver. This action would be firmly in line with the section of your executive order “Declaring a National Energy Emergency” which implores Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Zeldin and Department of Energy Secretary Wright to consider issuing these emergency waivers.

Currently, the eight Midwestern governors’ petitions to sell E15 year-round has allowed for an agreement between both ethanol and petroleum stakeholders in support of a permanent legislative solution to allow nationwide, year-round E15 sales. In the interim, taking action to permit the sale of E15 nationwide during the 2025 summer driving season also will be beneficial for consumers, the domestic energy industry, and agricultural producers. To ensure nationwide uniformity in the gasoline market, we urge you to apply the temporary emergency waivers to E15 in all states and engage directly with the eight states who petitioned EPA to opt out of the RVP waiver program to ensure their recent requests are adhered to.

Extending the nationwide sale of E15 can again bolster our nation’s energy resilience by adding billions of gallons of ethanol to the nation’s fuel supply, lowering the cost of gas for American families at a time when prices are already too high. As affirmed when you first allowed for year-round E15 in 2019, and those approved for the summers afterward, the sale of higher blends of biofuels during the summer months supports the domestic fuel supply, reduces consumer costs, and promotes American biofuels and agriculture feedstocks.

The issuance of a nationwide waiver for the 2025 summer driving season is a straightforward solution to challenges throughout our energy supply chain and is firmly in the public interest. Thank you for your prompt consideration of this request.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced a $50,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and New York State to the City of Elmira for the city’s Planning and Zoning Updated project.

This grant funding will help the city of Elmira rezone and develop a zoning process that is in line with the needs of the city. This investment will contribute to a ten-year Comprehensive Plan, as well as updated long-term zoning methods. In addition to the ARC funding, New York State sources will provide $180,000, bringing the total project funding to $230,000.

“I’m proud to announce the $50,000 ARC grant for the City of Elmira,”  said Congressman Langworthy. “Elmira’s Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Regulations were last updated in 2016 and 1998. By updating these two projects, Elmira will be able to access new funding sources, ensure economic growth opportunities, and streamline development.”

“I want to thank Congressman Nick Langworthy and our great team at City Hall for working together to secure this $50,000 grant towards our city planning and zoning updates,”  said Mayor Daniel Mandel, City of Elmira. “Every dollar we can get through grant funding means savings for our Elmira Taxpayers, and that is why I have put an emphasis on working with our Congressman and State Representatives to seize as many opportunities as we can find. • MIL-OSI USA: ICYMI: Rep. Pfluger On Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11)

Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) joined Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street to discuss his recent visit to Midland. On the visit, Rep. Pfluger hosted EPA Regional Administrator Scott Mason and Rep. Julie Fedorcheck (ND-At-Large) to tour one of Diamondback Energy’s production sites and participate in a roundtable discussion with producers, stakeholders, EPA officials, and other local leaders on the energy industry’s future. Read more about the trip and view pictures here.

Watch the full interview HERE or read highlights below.

Maria Bartiromo: Earlier this week, you hosted EPA officials at the Permian Basin, the energy capital of West Texas and your district, to address these federal oil and gas regulations that were put in place under the Biden administration. Tell me about that, and how is Trump cutting back on that red tape, and what are the challenges that energy producers are still facing? Because I know this is night and day when you look at the policies, correct?

Rep. Pfluger: Well, you’re absolutely right, and they are still facing a number of challenges… But what a difference an election makes to bring in Mr. Scott Mason, who is the Region 6 EPA Director, as well as Lee Zeldin, who showed up in the Permian Basin, and to demonstrate to them the work that has been done in the Permian Basin and throughout the other producing regions in the country, to produce efficient, affordable, reliable energy…I think most producers there really want a sweet spot, and that sweet spot, price-wise, is somewhere between $65 and $80 / bbl because they want predictability.Rig counts are already starting downward because they’re making business decisions and are not quite sure about what the future holds. But when you talk about lower gasoline prices, yes, that is very, very important, but it’s also important that we have a good, predictable supply and demand, and that’s what producers are worried about right now, which is just predictability. They’re going to hang in there, they always have. We’ve always survived. But again, a good sweet spot, $65 to $85 really helps our economy flourish.

Maria Bartiromo: They also need predictability on policy, because these are long-term contracts that these oil companies and oil suppliers, and drillers are making. And so, they need to know that permitting, for example, is going to be sustained, permitting deregulation, so that they can actually get the permits on a timely basis, and they can actually invest the way they want to. How can you, as a lawmaker, codify some of these executive orders that President Trump has put in place to ensure that they don’t go away in four years?

Rep. Pfluger: Well, President Trump has taken very aggressive action on deregulation. Administrator Lee Zeldin is leading the way with 31 deregulatory acts, and as chairman of the Republican Study Committee, we are championing an initiative that would codify many of those actions already, and you’re exactly right. They [companies] want predictability, not to have to compete against the U.S. government, not to have to compete against the overreaching nature of that far left liberal machine that we’ve seen for so long. And they want to know that the investments that they’re going to make are actually going to return profits that they can put into more drilling, more access to energy, so that we can actually have affordable, reliable energy, not just here, but also for our partners and allies.

  • MIL-OSI USA: Amo Lambasts Trump Trade War and Republican Budget Cuts That Are Raising Costs on Rhode Islanders

Source: US Congressman Gabe Amo (Rhode Island 1st District)

PROVIDENCE – Today, Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) visited the West End Community Center in Providence to highlight how Trump’s chaotic trade war and the Republican plan to gut food assistance programs is jacking up the cost of living in Rhode Island. During the visit, the Congressman toured the food pantry, early education programs, and community facility and met with staff. As the Center celebrates its 50th year in operation, the staff have noted an increase in food assistance need from the approximately 100 local families it serves each day.

“Every day, the West End Community Center food pantry helps approximately 100 Rhode Island families put food on their table,” said Congressman Amo. “Yet Trump and congressional Republicans are threatening this assistance by pursuing a chaotic trade war and budget cuts that are jacking up the cost of energy, groceries, and gas while stripping working Rhode Islanders of critical support that helps them afford food. The West End Community Center is a lifeline for families in Rhode Island, and I’ll continue to fight to protect them from harmful cuts and unnecessary tariffs.”

“I want to thank Congressman Amo for visiting our facility and volunteering with our staff,” said Denise Greene, Executive Director of West End Community Center. “With so much uncertainty in the news, and with so many policies being pursued that raise the cost of living and threaten the wellbeing of the families in Rhode Island, it’s reassuring to know that we have a prominent voice in Congress advocating for us.”

“The West End Community Center is an anchor for the Providence community—providing vital food assistance, early education, and supportive services to hundreds of residents every week,” said Alyssa McDermott, Director of Housing and Community Development, City of Providence. “Through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, the City proudly supports their work to fight food insecurity. At a time when national policies threaten to unravel the safety net so many depend on, our investment in local organizations like the West End Community Center is more important than ever.”

    BACKGROUND

On April 9, 2025, Congressman Amo spoke on the House floor to slam the Republican budget resolution and share the story of a Rhode Islander who would be hurt by Republican cuts.

On February 25, 2025, Congressman Amo took to the House Floor to slam the Republican budget resolution that threatens devastating cuts to critical programs. The day before, Congressman Amo submitted two amendments to the House Committee on Rules to protect SNAP and affirm that Medicaid is a critical program for more than 306,000 Rhode Island residents. The Republican-controlled House Committee on Rules refused to consider Congressman Amo’s amendments.

During the House Budget Committee markup on February 13, 2025, Congressman Amo offered two amendments to support protecting and extending Medicare’s solvency as well as protect SNAP, the Community Eligibility Provision, the School Breakfast Program, and the National School Lunch Program.

The Republican budget resolution directs specific committees to achieve spending cuts or increases. Republicans leaked menu of options includes:

    • At least $880 billion in cuts for the Energy and Commerce Committee, which could target Medicaid, Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium assistance, and repeal Inflation Reduction Act policies.
    • At least $230 billion in cuts for the Agriculture Committee, which could target SNAP.
    • Up to $4.5 trillion in new spending for the Ways and Means Committee, which could include tax cuts for the top one percent, repeal of Inflation Reduction Act policies, cuts to Temporary Assistance to Needy Families and Social Services Block Grant, cuts in Medicare payments to providers, and cuts to ACA premium assistance.

  • MIL-OSI USA: McClellan, Matsui, Neguse, Cohen Lead Resolution to Celebrate Earth Day

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (Virginia 4th District)

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (VA-04), member of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) joined Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07)Assistant Democratic Leader Joe Neguse (CO-02), and Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09)  to lead a group of 48 lawmakers in introducing a resolution to commemorate Earth Day 2025. The resolution celebrates recent historic environmental actions that have improved the health and wellbeing of our planet, while also reaffirming the work that still needs to be done to secure a livable future for the next generation.

“Our children deserve a future where clean air, safe water, and a stable climate are not luxuries, but guarantees,” said Congresswoman McClellan. “This Earth Day, we must reaffirm our commitment to climate action and environmental justice. We are not just responding to a crisis today — we are building a better, more just world that our children will inherit tomorrow.”

“Since the first declaration of Earth Day fifty-five years ago, we have made incredible progress towards protecting and restoring the natural world that we rely on and enjoy,” said Congresswoman Matsui. “However, in less than 100 days, President Trump has worked to erase decades of progress, dismantling climate science, weakening critical environmental agencies, and launching an all-out assault on clean air and clean water. This unprecedented assault on clean air and clean water is a stark reminder that Earth Day remains as important and revolutionary today as it was in 1970. This Earth Day, I am honored to join my colleagues in reaffirming and celebrating our shared responsibility to protect and preserve our planet for future generations, and I will never stop fighting to uphold these ideals at every level of government.”

“On Earth Day, communities across the country reaffirm their commitment to protecting the environment and our treasured public lands,” said Congressman Neguse. “And for me, as a proud Coloradan, the fight to ensure future generations can enjoy the outdoors the same way we have is deeply personal. Which is why I’m proud to join my colleagues in continuing to charge forward in Congress with efforts that prioritize protecting our planet.”

“Fifty-five years after the first Earth Day, our commitment to environmental protection must be stronger than ever,” said Congressman Cohen. “The Trump administration is once again doing the bidding of polluters—rolling back clean air and clean water standards, halting enforcement of environmental safeguards, and illegally freezing congressionally authorized funding meant to combat climate change, reduce pollution, and protect public health. Climate change is accelerating. Our air, water, and communities are under threat. Earth Day is not just a reminder of what’s at stake—it’s a call to rededicate ourselves to the fight for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable planet for the next generation.”

Congresswoman McClellan has been a leader of clean energy efforts since she was a member of the Virginia Assembly, leading the Virginia Clean Economy Act and the Solar Freedom Act. She championed the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Project, which creates jobs and develops clean energy infrastructure. Since coming to Congress, she has led efforts to invest in clean and renewable energy, support soil carbon sequestration research and monitoring, address the risks to infrastructure integrity resulting from changing climate and environmental conditions and more.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL), Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, issued the following statement on the Administration’s reorganization of the State Department.

“I have grave concerns that such a sweeping overhaul of the State Department will have a devastating impact on America’s standing and be felt in every corner of the globe.

“We have reached a critical juncture — one in which our allies have rapidly lost faith in our security commitments and our trading partners are worried about the U.S. economy. Confidence in America is slipping. This move — coming on the heels of chaotic tariff negotiations, our diminished role in international alliances, and China openly mocking the U.S. on social media — could appear as a retreat.

“At this moment, when so many fear that they cannot count on America, the last thing we should be doing is upending our diplomatic footprint. We should be living up to our commitments, not continually reneging on them. We also should serve and protect American families abroad, while protecting our national security at home.

“As I have emphasized, I am open to reforms where necessary — but these proposals must be approached with caution and in close consultation with Congress.”

Oswego, New York – Congresswoman Tenney (NY-24) today sent a letter to New York’s Attorney General Letitia James and New York State Education Department Commissioner Betty Rosa condemning their failure to comply with President Trump’s recent Executive Orders that ban biological males from participating in female sports and aims to put an end to the woke gender ideologies that have dominated curriculums.

Rep. Tenney’s letter follows a joint statement by Attorney General James and Commissioner Rosa announcing their refusal to cooperate with President Trump’s Executive Orders Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling and Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.

“By promoting radical gender ideology and allowing biological males to compete in girls’ sports, Attorney General James and Commissioner Rosa are jeopardizing the safety of children across New York. Their refusal to comply with common-sense federal orders that protect girls’ athletics and prohibit the teaching of woke gender ideologies to young children puts New York students at risk of losing critical federal funding. I stand with President Trump in his efforts to dismantle the Left’s woke agenda that has infiltrated our schools and put an end to the indoctrination of students with these fringe gender mutilation ideologies,” said Congresswoman Tenney.

The Bipartisan Bill Supports Small to Midsize Police Departments by Providing Resources to Improve Officer Recruitment, Retention, Mental Health, and Training

Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) helped introduce the bipartisan Invest to Protect to support small and midsize police departments with increased federal funding to recruit, train, and retain law enforcement officers.

“We need to make sure our law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to serve our communities have the support they need to do their jobs,” said Congressman Sorensen. “This bipartisan legislation will give local police departments across the country a significant boost in funding to recruit, train, and retain officers during a time when many departments are struggling to fill their ranks.”

“At a time when law enforcement needs critical funding, the Invest to Protect Act will undeniably help departments across not only Illinois but our entire country bridge budgetary shortfalls in critical areas such as recruitment and training,” said Rock Island County Sheriff Darren Hart. “I applaud Congressman Sorensen for his continued efforts in the support our men and women in uniform.”

Congressman Sorensen has met with local police officers throughout Illinois’ 17th district and understands that too many departments are often working on strained budgets and lack the necessary equipment needed to adequately protect our neighborhoods. Just last year, he helped secure $200,000 for local police in Winnebago County to improve mental health and wellness services. He also announced $750,000 in federal funding to help the Town of Normal hire six law enforcement officers to increase community policing and crime prevention efforts.

Stops included Mirocha’s Hillside Florist, Breedlove’s Sporting Goods, Good’s Furniture, Johnson’s Hub Clothing, and Blissful Branch Boutique. The tour concluded with lunch at Cerno’s Bar & Grill.

  • MIL-OSI USA: Strong Garners Support for Legislation to Counter the CCP

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Dale Strong (Alabama)

WASHINGTON— Congressman Dale Strong’s legislation, the Strategic Homeland Intelligence and Enforcement Legislation to Defend (SHIELD) Against the CCP Act is gaining nationwide support. This week, the legislation was endorsed by the Major County Sheriffs of America (MCSA), the National Narcotic Officers’ Associations’ Coalition (NNOAC), and the National Fusion Center Association (NFCA).

“China represents one of the most aggressive and dangerous threats to our national security today. This bill ensures DHS has a dedicated team working to combat this threat. I’m proud this legislation has broad support from my colleagues in the House and our law enforcement partners. It’s past time to get this legislation to the President’s desk and to protect the American people,” said Representative Dale Strong.

“The Chinese Communist Party is actively involved—both directly and indirectly—in supporting transnational criminal organizations engaged in the importation and trafficking of fentanyl, illicit drug precursors, and other controlled substances that have significantly contributed to drug poisonings and deaths across our country. We are grateful to Representative Strong for introducing the SHIELD Against CCP Act and for his commitment to dedicating resources, personnel, and programming to confront these deadly threats. The NNOAC is on the front lines of this fight, and we are committed to working with Congressman Strong and our partners at DHS to confront and dismantle the networks behind illicit drug trafficking,” said Eric Brown, President, National Narcotic Officers’ Associations’ Coalition.

“We applaud Representative Dale Strong for championing the SHIELD Against the CCP Act, legislation that takes critical steps to coordinate efforts in addressing the growing threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party to our homeland. This bill importantly acknowledges the vital role of the National Network of Fusion Centers and the importance of intelligence sharing and collaboration across federal, state, and local levels to protect national security. We are especially grateful for the recognition of our dedicated state and local public safety professionals, both sworn and civilian, who work tirelessly every day to track criminal trends and share timely, credible threat information. Their commitment and expertise are essential to protecting our communities and enhancing our nation’s ability to respond to emerging threats,” said Mike Sena, President, National Fusion Center Association.

    BACKGROUND:

    • During a March 9, 2023, House Committee on Homeland Security hearing, national security experts testified on the CCP’s efforts to circumvent U.S. homeland security.

    • Specifically, witnesses highlighted the CCP’s exploitation of American universities, its theft of intellectual property (IP) and technology, risks to economic supply chain security, the threat it poses to critical infrastructure, and its alarming surveillance activities across the U.S. homeland.

    • It is estimated that the People’s Republic of China’s theft of U.S. intellectual property extends to the billions, amounting to approximately $4,000 to $6,000 per American family of four after paying taxes.

This legislation would establish a dedicated Department of Homeland Security working group to counter threats posed by the CCP and, specifically, would require the group to examine, assess, and report on the spectrum of nontraditional tactics employed by the government of China and the efforts of DHS to counter these malign activities.

  • MIL-OSI USA: REP. LAUREN BOEBERT CALLS ON DOGE & USDOT TO REEVALUATE FEDERAL FUNDING OF FRONT RANGE PASSENGER RAIL

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Lauren Boebert (Colorado, 3)

WASHINGTON D.C.– In a letter to U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative Elon Musk, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO-04) called for a reevaluation of the federal funds currently scheduled to go towards construction of the Front Range Passenger Rail. Lawmakers and constituents from Douglas County and across the 4th Congressional District have expressed serious concerns over the current plans and the potentially billions in federal taxpayer funding that could go towards the project, which many in Douglas County do not believe is necessary and would harm their quality of life.

The full letter can be read HERE.

“As I continue to hear from leaders and constituents across Douglas County, it’s clear there are serious concerns with the Front Range Passenger Rail proposal that will harm our community’s quality of life and cost hundreds of millions in state and federal funds,” said Congresswoman Boebert. “Our nation owes more than $36 trillion in debt, and we simply cannot afford spending resources on projects that will not benefit most Coloradans. It’s imperative that DOGE and USDOT reevaluate the importance of this project before we spend another dollar.”

“I commend Congresswoman Boebert for her work on transportation,” said State Senator John Carson, District 30 (Highlands Ranch). “The Front Range Passenger Rail project should not be a funding priority for the federal government or any level of government. There are far better uses of scarce transportation tax dollars. Those dollars should instead go to repairing our decaying roadways and improving highway safety.”

Douglas County shouldn’t be forced to bankroll a train we didn’t ask for,” said State Representative Max Brooks, District 45 (Castle Rock). “It’s outrageous for the state to keep nickel-and-diming our residents for projects that ignore local priorities. I fully support efforts to reevaluate and halt unnecessary spending on the Front Range Passenger Rail, which Castle Rock neither wants nor needs.

“The last thing our federal tax dollars should be going to is the Front Range Passenger Rail, which nobody in Douglas County has asked for or needs,” said State Representative Brandi Bradley, District 39 (Lone Tree). “We want help with our roads in Colorado, not another one of Governor Polis’ progressive pet projects. It’s time to reprioritize where every single one of our federal tax dollars is going and we need to make sure none of them go towards a train running down the heart of the Front Range.”

“Colorado does not need—and cannot afford—a Front Range passenger rail system,” said State Representative Anthony Hartsook, District 44 (Parker). “What we truly need is improved road infrastructure that allows our residents to get to work and school more quickly and cost-effectively. Investing in better roads would reduce traffic congestion, and in turn cut down on pollution. I oppose placing an additional tax burden on hardworking Coloradans to fund an expensive rail project that fails to meet their daily transportation needs or help them achieve their goals.”

  • MIL-OSI USA: Strickland Announces 2025 Congressional Art Competition Winner Grace Kim

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10)

Lakewood, WA – Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced Grace Ye Kim as the 2025 Congressional Art Competition winner for the district. “Moments as We Wait” was selected by a panel of jurors and will be displayed in the United States Capitol for one year.

The theme of this year’s competition was “Freedom” and high school students submitted artwork expressing what Freedom means to them.

“This piece is based on a photo I took of my four siblings while we waited for the fireworks show on the Fourth of July. Despite the countless videos of the light show that day, what remains most memorable is everything beforehand – The gathering of family and friends as we celebrated alongside so many others in our community at the waterfront. This painting is my way of recapturing that joyful moment to share with others,” said competition winner, Grace Kim.

“These talented and creative student submissions depict freedom in so many ways: the freedom to be themselves, to exercise guaranteed rights, to be happy and secure in the community, and the sacred obligation to defend these ideals,” said Strickland. “I’d like to thank all the students, teachers, and jurors who supported the program.”

“Several artists responded with images related to identity such as self-portraits to express the pursuit of life, others used traditional symbols including the bald eagle, American flag, and Statue of Liberty to represent the pursuit of liberty, and some represented scenes from their daily lives to show the pursuit of happiness. This competition highlights the excellence of the art teachers who educate and guide their students and it provides a valuable practical experience for students in the district.” said Dr. Jennifer Olson, competition juror.

“There were several pieces in the final round of consideration each demonstrating characteristics and qualities worthy of top spot. I particularly enjoyed the winning works use of depth effects along with the works playful use of color to portray a moment in young adulthood when we are our freest whether we understand it in the moment or looking back on it when we’re older,” said PḰȺELWEȽTEN, Charles Bloomfield, competition juror.

This year’s panel of jurors for Washington’s 10th Congressional District included Indigenous documentary filmmaker, activist and Coast Salish artist PḰȺELWEȽTEN (English name Charles W Bloomfield); Pierce College and Tacoma Community College (TCC) professor Dr. Jennifer Olson; Head of Evergreen State College Instructional Photography and multimedia artist Carrie Chema; and Head of Pierce College Arts Department Dave Roholt.

The Congressional Art Competition was launched in 1982 to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of young constituents from across the country with the chance to display their art in the U.S. Capitol.

Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. She is Whip of the New Democrat Coalition, Secretary of the Congressional Black Caucus, and is one of the first Korean-American women elected to Congress.

  • MIL-OSI USA: Bean Increases Health Care Choices for Americans

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Aaron Bean Florida (4th District)

WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) introduced the Flexible Savings Arrangements for Healthy Robust America (FSA-HRA) Act, to expand options for Americans seeking to save responsibly for their future health costs.

Specifically, this commonsense bipartisan legislation amends the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to permit Americans to transfer Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) contributions into Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) in connection with establishing coverage under a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).

Upon introduction, Congressman Bean said: “Many hardworking individuals and families find our nation’s health care system too convoluted and confusing to navigate. As a result, many often forfeit their unused FSA contributions or lose their HRA contributions. We need to give Americans the flexibility to plan, save, and take charge of health care decisions for their families. That’s why I’m proud to introduce this commonsense bill that will make it easier for families to take control of both their physical and financial health.”

Congressman Bean was joined by Congressmen Dan Crenshaw (TX-02) and Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) in introducing this bill.

“This bill is simple. If you contribute your dollars to a tax advantaged account, you should be able to use those dollars to fund a health savings account,” said Congressman Crenshaw. “Arbitrary government rules shouldn’t stop Americans from using their own savings for health care.”

“All too often, too many working families lose their unused FSA and HRA funds because of outdated “use-it-or-lose-it” rules,” said Congressman Panetta. “The FSA-HRA Act lets them roll those unused dollars into their Health Savings Accounts so they can save for future medical expenses tax-free.  This bipartisan fix gives working families more flexibility and ensures they’re not penalized for being prepared.”

    BACKGROUND

Currently, the law requires FSA and HRA contributions to be spent by the end of the year or otherwise forfeited and returned to the employer.

The FSA-HRA Act will allow American workers, or those switching jobs, to preserve their unused FSA and HRA funds by removing this out-of-date use-it-or-lose-it policy and giving them the flexibility to save for future medical expenses tax-free.

  • MIL-OSI USA: Ciscomani Stands Up For Ranchers, Provides an Update on his work in Congress in Graham County

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Juan Ciscomani (Arizona)

Safford, AZ – U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani told Graham County ranchers that they should receive full compensation for cattle killed by Mexican gray wolves.

“Ranchers in Arizona and other western states face an intolerable situation,” said Ciscomani. “Their livelihood is directly threatened by an animal that the federal government has reintroduced into our communities. Yet when a wolf kills their cattle, they can’t get full compensation. This just isn’t right.”

Ciscomani told ranchers he’s a co-sponsor of the Wolf and Livestock Fairness (WOLF) Act (H.R. 2227) to fully reimburse ranchers for any livestock killed or harmed by endangered Mexican gray wolves. Currently, ranchers are compensated for 75 percent of the value of livestock killed by gray wolves. This bill increases compensation for ranchers to 100 percent of the value of cattle loss and compensates them for decreased herd sizes.

“Government bureaucracy cannot stand between ranchers and their way of life,” said Ciscomani

The Congressman’s meeting with ranchers in Safford was part of a day spent in Graham County. He also provided a congressional update to elected officials, students, business leaders, educators, and community members at Eastern Arizona College. Here is some of the legislation he has introduced and cosponsored to support students, veterans, and workers across Arizona’s 6th District:

    • The Secure our Rural Schools Act (H.R. 1383) which provides funding to rural counties and schools that are impacted by federal land management, particularly those with large areas of federally owned, tax-exempt forests.
    • The Veterans Education and Technical Skills (VETS) Opportunity Act (H.R. 1458), would expand veterans’ access to educational opportunities in high-demand skill and vocation programs, whether in-person or partially online.
    • The Creating Opportunities for New Skills Training at Rural and Underserved Colleges and Trade Schools (CONSTRUCTS) Act (H.R. 1055) would create a grant program to fund and develop residential construction education and certification programs at community colleges, junior colleges, and trade schools

“I am committed to making sure that rural communities, which are often overlooked by the federal government, have a seat at the table,” said Ciscomani. “I spent the day in Graham County, where I met with ranchers to talk about my efforts to strengthen water security, the problem posed by Mexican gray wolves, and my support of a bipartisan bill to provide full reimbursement to ranchers when livestock are killed or harmed by these wolves. Afterwards, I had an engaging meeting with local leaders and community members where I provided an update on my work in Congress and reiterated my ironclad support of Pell Grants, protecting Medicaid, and next steps in reconciliation process. As I always say, you never have to wonder what people in rural Arizona think, and today’s dialogue equips me to better deliver for all of my constituents.”

  • MIL-OSI USA: Feenstra Helps Introduce Legislation to Build Affordable Homes

Source: United States House of Representatives – Representative Randy Feenstra (IA-04)

HULL, IOWA – Earlier this month, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce – alongside Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) – the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act, which would mobilize private investment to construct new, affordable homes and revitalize existing homes to attract and keep families and businesses in Iowa.

This legislation would support the construction or rehabilitation of roughly 500,000 homes for middle- and low-income families.

“Affordable housing is crucial to growing communities, attracting business investment, and keeping young families rooted in Iowa. However, certain barriers, often out of the control of local governments and contractors, cause housing shortages that hinder economic growth and community development,” said Rep. Feenstra. “Serving on the House Ways and Means Committee, I’m glad to help lead legislation to expand the housing supply, including in rural communities, to bring down costs and make the dream of homeownership attainable for more families. By ensuring that our tax code supports homebuilding, we can help families flourish, encourage our businesses to expand, and keep our communities strong.”

More specifically, the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act establishes a federal tax credit that developers can claim to construct new housing or substantially rehabilitate existing homes. This tax credit seeks to close the “value gap” – which occurs when the cost to build a home exceeds the price at which it is expected to sell – by covering up to 35% of development expenses for new construction.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11), Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security’s Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, released the following statement regarding the detention of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national with ties to the transnational gang and foreign terrorist organization MS-13, who was unlawfully present in Maryland, as multiple House and Senate Democrats are reportedly planning performative trips to visit Garcia being held in El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center.

Americans should not have their hard-earned tax dollars paying for an all-expenses-paid trip to import criminal illegal aliens back into our communities,” said Chairman August Pfluger.Members who are rushing to El Salvador to retrieve an international gang-affiliated member, yet show zero urgency in meeting with Rachel Morin’s family or addressing the devastation from the Biden border crisis, have their priorities completely misaligned. This isn’t just failed leadership—it’s a complete abandonment of their duty to protect American citizens. While Democrats are fighting on behalf of illegal criminals on your dime, Republicans will continue to fight for the safety of American citizens.”

    Background:

Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a Salvadoran national who, according to the Department of Justice, has been repeatedly identified as having ties to MS-13, a transnational gang and foreign terrorist organization. Garcia, who was unlawfully present in Maryland, was arrested and deported by the Trump administration in early March.

EUGENE, OR – Today, Representative Val Hoyle (OR-04) released the following statement regarding the passing of Pope Francis:

“Today we lost a great and moral leader of the Catholic faith who epitomized the vision of social justice that I learned growing up in the Church. Pope Francis lived his faith and prioritized the common good and well-being of all, especially the poor and vulnerable. He recognized and put forward that the dignity of work could not be separated from the rights of workers to decent and fair wages, to the ability to organize and join unions.

“In his encyclical letter, Fratelli Tutti, the core message was that universal fraternity and social friendship must be practiced together. His inspiring words and legacy for the Catholic Church, bringing it closer to the needs of the people, and to the world will not be forgotten:

“A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just.” “Too often we participate in the globalization of indifference. May we strive instead to live global solidarity.” “Kindness is firm and persevering intention to always will the good of others, even the unfriendly.”

  • MIL-OSI USA: Rep. Scholten Launches Health Care Advisory Board Amid Alarming Attacks on Health Care

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congresswoman Hillary Scholten – Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (MI03) announced the formation of her new Health Care Advisory Board, bringing together a group of health leaders from across West Michigan for a roundtable conversation focused on protecting access to care, advancing medical innovation, and confronting looming federal health care cuts to Medicaid, health care research, and more.

“The Health Care Advisory Board is the next step in my ongoing partnership with health care providers throughout West Michigan—one that brings together some of the most innovative and compassionate health care minds in the country who serve right here in West Michigan,” said Rep. Scholten. “At a time when leaders in Washington are pushing dangerous cuts that would kneecap our ability to prevent illness, fight disease, make progress on cancer research and save lives, I am fighting back–with my vote in Washington, and my voice back home here in West Michigan. I will keep engaging to ensure our region remains a leader in health care innovation and access.”

The roundtable today convened a broad coalition of regional medical leaders who represent institutions ranging from major medical centers to community clinics, federally qualified health centers, and individual family practices across urban and rural settings. The Advisory Board will serve as a long-term partner to Rep. Scholten, helping shape her health policy work in Washington and ensuring that the voices of health care professionals and patients across West Michigan are front and center in the fight for equitable, accessible care.

The launch comes at a critical moment. Proposed cuts to health care will slash nearly a third of the federal health budget, including a 40% cut to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as a 40% cut to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), reducing its 27 research centers to just eight. The Department of Health and Human Services also plans to cut 10,000 employees from the workforce. Additionally, an upcoming May 7 mark-up in the House will look to cut $880 billion from the Energy and Commerce budget, which covers Medicaid.

Rep. Scholten emphasized her interest in supporting safe and accessible innovation and reiterated her commitment to bringing local insights back to Congress.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Glenn Ivey (MD-04) sent a letter to President Donald Trump demanding the immediate return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador, to the United States, despite having been granted protection from deportation by a United States immigration court. Despite the Trump Administration admitting Mr. Abrego Garcia’s removal was a mistake and the Supreme Court ordering the facilitation of his return, the Trump Administration has indicated repeatedly it does not intend to comply with the Supreme Court’s order and bring Mr. Abrego Garcia back to the United States. Mr. Abrego Garcia is a Maryland resident, living in Maryland’s Fourth Congressional District with his U.S. citizen wife and family.

Congressman Ivey is joined by 150 of his House Democratic colleagues in sending this urgent letter to President Trump.

“Due process is a fundamental pillar of the rule of law. When those in power trample on due process rights and disregard the rule of law, it threatens the rights and freedoms of all Americans,” said Congressman Glenn Ivey. “Instead of the endless spin and excuses, the Trump Administration should comply with the Supreme Court’s order to facilitate Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s return to his family in the United States. The President has the power to do so and must act without delay. I thank my House Democratic colleagues for their support and for standing up for our nation’s principles.”

  • MIL-OSI USA: Kean Secures Reinstated Non-Profit Status for Flemington Fire Department

Source: US Representative Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07)

(April 21, 2025) Flemington, NJ – Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) announced today that, after persistent advocacy from his office, the Flemington Fire Department has officially regained its non-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Former Chief and President Robert Motzel contacted the Congressman’s office seeking help with a years-long effort to reinstate the Fire Department’s tax-exempt status. Despite prior attempts to resolve the issue through other channels, the Department had faced repeated delays and setbacks. Thanks to the sustained efforts of Congressman Kean and his casework team, the IRS notified the Department in April 2025 that its non-profit status had finally been restored.

The Flemington Fire Department, a 100% volunteer organization serving the Borough of Flemington and the surrounding communities since 1842, first lost its non-profit designation due to a clerical error. The resulting six-year delay—including during the COVID-19 pandemic—severely impacted the Department’s ability to secure vital grants, loans, and matching funds. These limitations hindered the Department’s capacity to purchase critical first responder equipment and maintain operations.

“I am pleased that we have secured a long-overdue victory for the Flemington Fire Department,” said Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. “This organization has served its community with honor and dedication for over 175 years, and the restoration of its non-profit status will ensure it can continue protecting residents with the resources it needs. I applaud the brave men and women of the Department for their unwavering service, and I’m grateful my office could play a role in delivering this critical result.”

“I’d just like to say thank you in assisting us in the process. I thought this issue would never ever get resolved,” said Former Chief Robert Motzel. “I have to say, this is such a huge relief for the dedicated volunteers of Flemington Fire Department and our community. Knowing our congressional liaisons like you and representatives like Congressman Kean Jr. are truly helping their constituents is very much appreciated and does not go unnoticed.”

“Our volunteers fire department is critical to Flemington Borough,” said Flemington Mayor Marcia Karrow. “Congressman Kean’s help in reinstating their charitable not for profit status is key in their ability to apply for important grants for fire fighting equipment that both save lives and taxpayers dollars. The Borough is very grateful for his assistance.”

Since opening in January 2023, Congressman Kean’s office has closed over 3,500 constituent cases, helping return more than $18 million to residents of New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.

  • MIL-OSI USA: Malliotakis: MTA Will Be Held Accountable for Congestion Tax

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11)

(NEW YORK, NY) – Congresswoman Malliotakis issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Transportation’s final warning to Governor Kathy Hochul to comply with its order to halt congestion pricing by May 21 or face consequences.

“I applaud President Trump and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy for taking action to hold the MTA and Governor Kathy Hochul accountable for not complying with federal law and their directive to end the congestion tax in New York City. Today’s warning should serve as a wake-up call that the federal government will not stand idly by as Hochul and the MTA continue to rip off hardworking taxpayers and commuters.

The city’s Congestion Pricing plan did not receive the scrutiny and environmental review required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) — a clear violation that underscores the need for federal intervention. If this illegal cash grab continues, we will hold the State and MTA accountable by freezing advanced construction authorizations, NEPA approvals or federal funding for projects within Manhattan’s congestion zone.”
