BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) — China’s lithium-ion battery sector saw rapid growth in the first four months of this year, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed.
According to the agency, during the specified period, the total production volume of this type of product exceeded 473 gigawatt-hours (GWh), which is 68 percent more than the previous year.
During the reporting period, the production capacity of lithium-ion batteries for energy storage exceeded 110 GWh, while their installed capacity for new energy vehicles reached approximately 184 GWh.
The data also showed that the value of lithium-ion battery exports from January to April this year reached 155.4 billion yuan (about 21.7 billion U.S. dollars), up 25 percent year on year.
The lithium-ion battery sector plays a vital role in China’s green, low-carbon and sustainable development as the country strives to achieve its goals of reducing carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality. -0-
