The 2025 Bespoke AI Appliance Lineup
▲ Samsung unveiled the new Bespoke AI appliances for 2025.

During the event, Samsung introduced its Bespoke AI appliances for 2025, which bring new and innovative functionalities to solve users’ difficult problems.

At the heart of the company’s vision is the AI Home display.1 Built upon the innovation of the first introduction of the AI Home display last year, the AI Home with new size options has been expanded to a broad range of new products, such as Bespoke AI Refrigerators, the Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo, Washers and Dryers.2

The 9-inch AI Home screen on the Bespoke AI Refrigerator lineup increases consumers’ options by offering a similar experience to what’s available on the larger AI Family Hub screen. With the upgraded AI Vision Inside,3 food management has been enhanced with new features such as automatic recognition of processed food items,4 for models with the AI Family Hub and those with the AI Home. Through the 7-inch AI Home in the Bespoke AI Laundry, users can intuitively control the washing and drying cycles, as well as monitor and control other connected devices.5

Moreover, the new Bespoke AI appliances bring enhanced features that adapt to consumer needs. For example, the Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerator utilizes AI to efficiently cool the inside of the fridge, detecting its current status and predicting internal temperature changes to effectively adapt cooling.

The Bespoke AI Laundry includes new functions to enhance consumer convenience, with new standalone models that have upgraded AI Wash and AI Dry to AI Wash+ and AI Dry+,6 as well as models to be launched in Europe, using up to 55% less energy than class A minimum requirements for the washer.7 Also, Samsung unveiled the new Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo, which is the first ever vented combo in its class.8 It significantly reduces drying time, finishing both washing and drying in 68 minutes with its Super Speed cycle.

Samsung is continuing to innovate its vacuum cleaner lineup, as well. The cordless stick vacuum cleaner, the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, will be launched with the world’s most powerful9 suction power of up to 400W.10 The upgraded AI Cleaning Mode 2.011 classifies more diverse environments12 like corners13 and the type of carpets14 for improved cleaning performance.

Samsung also revealed the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra.15 Not only is the robot vacuum cleaner designed to climb thresholds, but it is also enhanced with AI Object Recognition for complex environments,16 which can recognize obstacles as small as 1cm, and even transparent liquids17 for better cleaning results. And when it encounters corners or walls, the brush pops out, allowing it to clean areas that can be difficult for typical robot vacuum cleaners to deal with.

Samsung Home Appliances Bring Easy To Use, Care and Saving to Consumers
Samsung elaborated further on its “AI Home” vision and its commitment to integrating AI across the connected experience to cater to diverse lifestyles — through the core benefits of Easy to Use, Care and Saving.

Thanks to the adoption of the AI Home display, users will find it easier than ever to engage with the full functionality of their Bespoke AI appliances. The smart screen is now an even better central control hub, even connecting third party devices through SmartThings without the need for a separate hub device.18 Users can also utilize features like the refrigerators’ Daily Board to receive personalized information and better manage their day — or use Map View to effortlessly monitor and control other connected devices.

The upgraded Bixby allows for easier control of appliances through voice commands and enhances usability through new features like Voice ID.19 It personalizes services by recognizing the user’s voice, automatically switching to the Samsung account of the speaker and showing their calendar on the screen. And if that person also uses the low vision option on their Galaxy smartphone, it will be automatically synced to the screen for a better viewing experience.

New SmartThings services were also introduced during the event, including Family Care,20 which sends an alert to other family members if a user’s movement is not detected at the set time — or if there is no activity for a certain amount of time after the last activity. It is also possible to use the robot vacuum cleaner to look for signs of an emergency, with all of this functionality being tightly secured by Samsung Knox.

Continued Efforts To Deliver Reliable Experiences
To complete its “AI Home” vision for 2025, Samsung shone a light on how it is pushing the boundaries of innovation, prioritizing a trusted experience for users.

First, Samsung will apply enhanced Knox security to devices across the lineup so that users will be able to enjoy their AI Home experience with peace of mind. This year in particular, Trust Chain, which is part of Knox Matrix, is applied to all Wi-Fi enabled appliances launching in 2025. Users can continuously monitor products’ security status in real time through the dashboard.21

Knox Vault is also applied to home appliances for the first time,22 storing particularly sensitive user information, such as passwords and authentication information, in a separate hardware chip to ensure protection. Furthermore, to protect against the potential of future quantum attacks, Samsung’s security is also equipped with post-quantum cryptography (PQC), a part of Knox Matrix Credential Sync, for its screen-applied products.23

Another key priority for Samsung is making sure that customers can use the latest software features on their existing appliances without buying new ones. With Smart Forward,24 the software update service through SmartThings, Samsung continuously updates its appliances with new features to enhance the consumer experience.

Samsung is also actively improving product maintenance. SmartThings Home Care utilizes AI to diagnose each appliance’s status, and if signs of malfunction are detected, it sends a notification in advance. In addition, a technical support representative can provide guidance on remote measures based on pre-diagnosis results.25 This support feature has already expanded to more countries, including France, Netherlands and Canada, following Korea and the United States.

By integrating all of these wide-ranging initiatives, Samsung aims to create safer and more reliable smart home experiences that users can enjoy with comfort and peace of mind.

▲ Samsung DA held a global event to unveil its vision and new products.

  • MIL-OSI Economics: Samsung Electronics and KT Corporation Collaborate on 6G Research To Improve Signal Quality

    Source: Samsung

Samsung Electronics and KT Corporation (KT), South Korea’s major telecommunications company, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) this month to jointly research and develop next-generation communication technologies aimed at improving 6G signal quality. As part of this collaboration, the two companies will advance multi-antenna technologies to expand coverage across potential 6G frequency bands and explore AI integration in wireless communication to improve network stability and performance.

Amid ongoing global discussions on future communication standards, Samsung and KT have begun research into eXtreme multiple-input multiple-output1 (X-MIMO) — an ultra-high-density antenna technology designed to enhance 6G coverage and increase data transmission speeds.

The World Radiocommunication Conference2 2023 (WRC-23), hosted by the International Telecommunication Union3 (ITU), identified the 7 GHz band (7.125–8.4 GHz) as a candidate frequency for 6G. The global mobile communications industry considers this band as a key option due to its favorable frequency characteristics and spectrum availability. However, because the 7 GHz band operates at a higher frequency than the 3.5 GHz C-band used in 5G, it experiences greater signal path loss. Mitigating this loss is critical to achieving communication coverage comparable to that of 5G.

To address this challenge, the companies will research beamforming technology, which transmits focused signals in specific directions, and multi-spatial transmission technology, which uses multiple beams to deliver data to several users simultaneously. In X-MIMO systems operating in the 7 GHz band, more antennas will be used compared to 5G — requiring system architectures capable of efficiently managing ultra-high-density antennas.

Both companies plan to explore the convergence of telecommunications and AI to deliver an improved user experience, particularly in edge coverage areas. For example, AI can be used to predict and proactively respond to potential communication disruptions such as video streaming interruptions.

“We are committed to developing innovative 6G technologies that enhance both the operational efficiency of the 7GHz band and the overall user experience,” said Angelo Jeongho Park, Executive Vice President and Head of Advanced Communications Research Center (ACRC), Samsung Research at Samsung Electronics. “Our collaboration with KT will serve as a key foundation for advancing next-generation communications through reasonable, cost-effective investments.”

“Through this joint research with Samsung Electronics, we expect to secure next-generation network technologies that differentiate the quality of the user experience,” said, Jong-Sik Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Future Network Laboratory at KT. “We will further strengthen our efforts in developing core 6G technologies to lead future mobile communication innovations.”

1 Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology improves communication performance by utilizing multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver.2 The World Radio Communication Conference (WRC) is an intergovernmental event organized by the ITU to coordinate global frequency usage.3 The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies with 193 Member States and more than 1,000 companies, universities, research institutes and international and regional organizations.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Polytechnic University Presents New Projects with Artificial Intelligence

    Translartion. Region: Russians Fedetion –

Source: Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University – Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University –

Opening the eighth seminar on artificial intelligence, Vice-Rector for Research Yuri Fomin noted that the discussions demonstrated the diversity and scale of the use of AI technologies by Polytechnic University scientists. This time, two reports were devoted to the use of AI methods in digital engineering of molecular and biomolecular systems and in the management of processes in a high-tech medical organization.

The first topic was covered by Mikhail Ryazantsev, professor at the Higher School of Biomedical Systems and Technologies, director of the Scientific Research Institute “Digital Technologies in Medical and Biological Systems”. The speaker talked about the methods of machine learning and molecular systems engineering used, aimed at automating the development and optimization of the properties of molecular systems and processes, as well as synthesis and adaptation for industrial production.

Effective automation requires an iterative process where the results of high-performance computing and/or experiments are used to train ML models, which in turn guide further development and optimization steps. It is also important to have a platform for integrating all the tools into a single workflow.

Mikhail Nikolaevich spoke about the methods of directed evolution, combined design and the results achieved in optimizing protein properties. The professor emphasized that today chemistry is increasingly becoming an engineering science, including through the use of artificial intelligence, and the development of the industry requires appropriate software.

Igor Ilyin, Director of the Higher School of Business Engineering and Head of the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Research and Education on Technological and Economic Problems of Energy Transition (CIRETEC GT), reported on solutions to pressing problems of medical institutions that need to optimize medical, management, and support processes.

The professor spoke about the characteristics and key aspects of the formation of the “smart clinic” architecture, as well as about digital technologies used in healthcare and projects being implemented. In particular, Igor Vasilyevich’s team is developing a system for supporting medical decision-making based on deep learning algorithms at the request of one of the largest medical centers in the country. Daniel Alliti, a postgraduate student at the Higher School of Business and Management of the Institute of Medical and Economics and Technology, spoke in more detail about the system. The system, being developed based on deep learning algorithms, should increase the efficiency of diagnostics and forecasting by 10%, reduce the number of medical errors leading to the death of the patient, reduce the routine tasks of doctors, freeing up time for receiving patients.

The seminar participants, who included undergraduate and graduate students, asked many questions regarding the methods and speed of computations, the operating systems used, responsibility for diagnoses made using AI, the use of terminology, etc.

It is gratifying that we have such a wide range of questions – from narrow technical to philosophical. This suggests that the topic of using artificial intelligence is truly interdisciplinary and inexhaustible, – commented on the results of the seminar Yuri Fomin.

The Vice-Rector for Research also supported the proposal to create a glossary on the topic of artificial intelligence so that there would be a common understanding of terms among participants in interdisciplinary research groups.

  • MIL-OSI Asia-Pac: COMMEMORATION OF THE WORLD CONSUMER RIGHTS DAY 2025

    Source:

    Share this:

KEYNOTE ADDRESS by the Minister of Commerce Industry and Labour, Honourable Faleomavaega Titimaea Tafua (14th March 2025)

    Reverend Misipati Afutiti,

    Distinguished guests,

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is with great pleasure that I extend a warm welcome to all participants representing various organizations, school principals, teachers and students who are gathered here today for the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Labour (Ministry) Awareness Day.

    TALOFA LAVA

Today’s programme marks the commemoration of the World Consumer Rights Day, an important occasion dedicated to celebrating consumer rights and standing in solidarity with the global consumer movement.

The Ministry commemorated the World Consumer Rights Day on March 14th, 2025, in advance of the internationally recognized date of March 15th, which falls on a Saturday. The World Consumer Rights Day is an annual event that provides an opportunity to advocate for the protection and respect of consumer rights while addressing market abuses and social injustices that undermine those rights. The World Consumer Rights Day was inspired by President John F Kennedy, who, on March 15, 1962, delivered a special message to the US Congress that formally acknowledged the importance of consumer rights. The day was first observed by Consumer International (CI) on 15 March 1983 and continues to be commemorated each year on this date, driving action on key issues and campaigns. This year marks the 27th celebration of World Consumer Rights Day in Samoa.

In June 1998, the Samoan Government enacted the Fair Trading Act, aimed at protecting consumer rights and establishing conduct standards for businesses operating in Samoa. This legislation was later refined and strengthened by the Competition and Consumer Act of 2016.

In honour of this special day, the Ministry sets aside the universal theme “A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles” but chooses to proceed raising commitment in engaging consumers and businesses to interact in a solid and competitive trading environment by conducting an outreach program.

The eight fundamental Consumer Rights include:

Results announced for All India Drawing & Painting competition celebrating the spirit of Maha Kumbh Mela 2025

Over 68000 students across India participated in the competitions

Posted On: 31 MAR 2025 2:44PM by PIB Delhi

Maha Kumbh Mela, a sacred confluence of faith and tradition, stands as the largest peaceful gathering in the world, deeply rooted in India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. This significant event transpired from 13th January to 26th February, 2025, representing the perpetual human quest for spiritual enlightenment. The festival, known for its deep philosophical significance and vibrant cultural expressions, brings together millions for a collective celebration of devotion, knowledge and unity.

To encourage young minds to artistically explore the essence of this sacred tradition, the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE), organised an All India Drawing & Painting competition across the nation on the theme of Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. The competition was conducted for students of Classes 6th–8th from Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and Central Board of Secondary Education-affiliated schools throughout the country. The competition was organised under the three themes of Bhavya Maha Kumbh, Divya Maha Kumbh and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, with an emphasis on originality and creativity. The objective was to encourage students to understand the spiritual and cultural significance of the event as well as India’s rich cultural traditions and values so as to appreciate and celebrate the spirit of unity in diversity. The results were declared on 24th March 2025.

The participation in the contest was extensive, with a total of 39,840 students from 1040 Kendriya Vidyalayas, 26,398 students from 404 Navodaya Vidyalayas schools and 2,887 students from 1,000 CBSE schools. The entries were received through Nodal officers of KVS, NVS and CBSE for national-level screening. The best entries were selected in two phases, i.e., primary-level entries were selected by Nodal officers by their own screening committees and the second-level entries were evaluated, recorded and finalized under the screening committee by NCERT.

The winners in both the drawing and painting categories were selected for the cash prizes and certificates. The first prize for each category is Rs. 15,000, with second and third prizes of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 7,000, respectively. Ten consolation prizes, including certificates and gift hampers, are also awarded in both categories.

  • MIL-OSI Asia-Pac: OFFICIAL HANDOVER OF AGRICULTURAL AID MATERIALS BY THE CHINA-SAMOA SCATAP PROJECT

    Source:

    Share this:

KEYNOTE ADDRESS by Hon. Niuava Eti Leatiogie Malolo Funefeai, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (19 March 2025)

Your Excellency Fei Mingxing, Ambassador of the Government of the People’s Republic of China in Samoa,

Distinguished Representatives from the Government of the People’s Republic of China,

    Our SCATAP Chinese Expert Team,

    Our MAF colleagues,

    Our SCATAP Model Farmers,

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Talofa Lava and Warm Greetings to You All!

It is with great pleasure that I stand before you today on this momentous occasion, the official handover of agricultural aid materials, provided through the Samoa-China Agricultural Technical Aid Project, SCATAP. The SCATAP initiative, which has been implemented by both Governments of Samoa and the People’s Republic of China for six consecutive phases now since 2010, is a testament to the strong and enduring partnership between our two Governments, in the area of agriculture and food security.

On behalf of the Government of Samoa and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, I wish to extend our sincere gratitude to the Government of the People’s Republic of China, for their continued support in advancing agricultural development in our small island country.

The generous assistance provided through SCATAP has played a crucial role in strengthening our local farming practices, improving productivity, and enhancing food security and nutrition for our people.

Agriculture remains the backbone of Samoa’s economy, sustaining the livelihoods of many families in our rural communities. It is therefore important that we continue to introduce modern farming techniques, improve seed quality, and promote sustainable practices, to ensure long-term food security and nutrition, and economic resilience. Through SCATAP, we have seen remarkable progress in capacity building, technology transfer, and access to essential farming tools and resources.

Today, as we officially receive these agricultural aid materials, we recognize the positive impact they will have on our farmers and our agricultural sector as a whole. These resources will help us increase production, improve efficiency, and create more opportunities for our farmers to thrive.

To our farmers and stakeholders, I encourage you to use these materials in a way that maximizes its benefits, and the knowledge shared through this partnership. Let us work together to further develop Samoa’s agricultural sector, ensuring economic prosperity, and food security and nutrition for our future generations.

In closing, I wish to again express my sincere appreciation to the Ambassador and Government Representatives of the People’s Republic of China, the dedicated SCATAP Chinese Expert Team, and all those involved in making this development partnership a success, and may it continue to grow for the desired benefits of both our countries.

    Soifua ma ia manuia!

  • MIL-OSI United Kingdom: AI-generated child abuse images are a growing threat

    Source: Anglia Ruskin University

By Simon Bailey and Samantha Lundrigan, Anglia Ruskin University

The UK aims to be the first country in the world to create new offences related to AI-generated sexual abuse. New laws will make it illegal to possess, create or distribute AI tools designed to generate child sexual abuse material (CSAM), punishable by up to five years in prison. The laws will also make it illegal for anyone to possess so-called “paedophile manuals” which teach people how to use AI to sexually abuse children.

In the last few decades, the threat against children from online abuse has multiplied at a concerning rate. According to the Internet Watch Foundation, which tracks down and removes abuse from the internet, there has been an 830% rise in online child sexual abuse imagery since 2014. The prevalence of AI image generation tools is fuelling this further.

Last year, we at the International Policing and Protection Research Institute at Anglia Ruskin University published a report on the growing demand for AI-generated child sexual abuse material online.

Researchers analysed chats that took place in dark web forums over the previous 12 months. We found evidence of growing interest in this technology, and of online offenders’ desire for others to learn more and create abuse images.

Horrifyingly, forum members referred to those creating the AI-imagery as “artists”. This technology is creating a new world of opportunity for offenders to create and share the most depraved forms of child abuse content.

Our analysis showed that members of these forums are using non-AI-generated images and videos already at their disposal to facilitate their learning and train the software they use to create the images. Many expressed their hopes and expectations that the technology would evolve, making it even easier for them to create this material.

Dark web spaces are hidden and only accessible through specialised software. They provide offenders with anonymity and privacy, making it difficult for law enforcement to identify and prosecute them.

The Internet Watch Foundation has documented concerning statistics about the rapid increase in the number of AI-generated images they encounter as part of their work. The volume remains relatively low in comparison to the scale of non-AI images that are being found, but the numbers are growing at an alarming rate.

The charity reported in October 2023 that a total of 20,254 AI generated imaged were uploaded in a month to one dark web forum. Before this report was published, little was known about the threat.

    The harms of AI abuse

The perception among offenders is that AI-generated child sexual abuse imagery is a victimless crime, because the images are not “real”. But it is far from harmless, firstly because it can be created from real photos of children, including images that are completely innocent.

While there is a lot we don’t yet know about the impact of AI-generated abuse specifically, there is a wealth of research on the harms of online child sexual abuse, as well as how technology is used to perpetuate or worsen the impact of offline abuse. For example, victims may have continuing trauma due to the permanence of photos or videos, just knowing the images are out there. Offenders may also use images (real or fake) to intimidate or blackmail victims.

These considerations are also part of ongoing discussions about deepfake pornography, the creation of which the government also plans to criminalise.

All of these issues can be exacerbated with AI technology. Additionally, there is also likely to be a traumatic impact on moderators and investigators having to view abuse images in the finest details to identify if they are “real” or “generated” images.

    What can the law do?

UK law currently outlaws the taking, making, distribution and possession of an indecent image or a pseudo-photograph (a digitally-created photorealistic image) of a child.

But there are currently no laws that make it an offence to possess the technology to create AI child sexual abuse images. The new laws should ensure that police officers will be able to target abusers who are using or considering using AI to generate this content, even if they are not currently in possession of images when investigated.

We will always be behind offenders when it comes to technology, and law enforcement agencies around the world will soon be overwhelmed. They need laws designed to help them identify and prosecute those seeking to exploit children and young people online.

It is welcome news that the government is committed to taking action, but it has to be fast. The longer the legislation takes to enact, the more children are at risk of being abused.

Tackling the global threat will also take more than laws in one country. We need a whole-system response that starts when new technology is being designed. Many AI products and tools have been developed for entirely genuine, honest and non-harmful reasons, but they can easily be adapted and used by offenders looking to create harmful or illegal material.

The law needs to understand and respond to this, so that technology cannot be used to facilitate abuse, and so that we can differentiate between those using tech to harm, and those using it for good.

  • MIL-OSI United Nations: 30 March 2025 Departmental update Enhancing evaluation in the UN: 2025 UNEG Annual General Meeting

    Source: World Health Organisation

The 2025 AGM, held on 13–14 February, served as a platform for strategic discussions on advancing evaluation practices, sharing innovations, and strengthening inter-agency coordination. The event aligned with efforts across the UN to promote effective, impactful evaluations and enhance evidence-based decision-making.

One session featured a presentation on UN-commissioned evaluations, highlighting how evaluation has evolved into a dynamic tool for supporting decision-making at all levels. Key lessons shared included the importance of high-quality deliverables, inclusive stakeholder engagement, and evaluation teams that reflect diversity in geography and gender. These practices contribute to creating a strong value proposition for evaluation—shifting the perception from a procedural requirement to a meaningful opportunity for learning, accountability, and ownership.

These insights support broader organizational goals of improving performance, strengthening impact at the country level, and advancing priorities such as health emergencies, Universal Health Coverage, and the health-related Sustainable Development Goals.

Participants also discussed the need to streamline evaluation processes to ease operational burdens, particularly at the country level. Practical examples were presented, including strategies used in recent Country Programme Evaluations, to reduce overlap and enhance efficiency in evaluation management.

Another focus area was the potential role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in transforming evaluation methodologies. Sessions explored how AI-assisted tools can improve data collection, analysis, and dissemination, ultimately supporting more timely and relevant insights. These innovations are of interest for integrating advanced digital and data solutions into evaluation practices and broader public health work.

The evaluation function continues to play a vital role in supporting organizational transformation, enhancing results delivery, and ensuring value for money. Guidance and technical support are available to help strengthen the use of evaluation in advancing public health outcomes and organizational performance.

  • MIL-OSI China: Chinese sci-fi film ‘Redland’ dazzles at industry gala

Source: China State Council Information Office 3

A trailer for the long-awaited Chinese sci-fi film “Redland” debuted to great acclaim at the 2025 Beijing Sci-Fi Night and Science Fiction Planet Extravaganza gala on Sunday in Beijing.

Sci-fi film “Redland” is presented at the 2025 Beijing Sci-Fi Night and Science Fiction Planet Extravaganza gala in Beijing, March 30, 2025. [Photo courtesy of the CSFC Organizing Committee]

“Redland,” formerly known as “Underground Deep Palace,” is adapted from the novella “Red Earth” by Xiao Xinghan. The story depicts the world after a nuclear war where humanity survives underground, battles genetically mutated species, and ultimately saves and revives human civilization. The novella won the Chinese Nebula Original Award in 2019.

Four years in the making, the film is scheduled to premiere on China’s iQiyi streaming platform in the near future. At the gala held during the China Science Fiction Convention 2025 (CSFC 2025), Gan Weikang, an executive producer of the film and president of Hainan Eternal Vision Science Fiction Media (EV/SFM), told the audience that “Redland” aims to provide uniquely Chinese original content and deliver higher-quality cultural content to audiences.

“The success of sci-fi films and TV series like ‘The Wandering Earth’ and ‘The Three-Body Problem’ has opened new possibilities for China’s sci-fi film market, raising audience expectations for more outstanding works. The release of ‘Redland’ follows this trend, aiming to contribute to the development of Chinese sci-fi cinema,” he said.

Director Liu Kaiyi stated that at its core, “Redland” explores humanity’s struggle and transcendence under extreme conditions. “When radiation mutates the world, with monsters rampant and survival at stake, people come to realize how truly precious those seemingly insignificant people and things really are,” he explained.

The film, written by Wang Haoyi and produced by Lin Ran, creates a unique underground utopia besieged by nuclear wasteland, mutants and cave tribes. The central suspense driving the narrative is humanity’s desperate struggle to overcome these threats and reclaim the surface world. VFX supervisor Meng Jifeng stressed how the team meticulously crafted every visual effect detail — the war-torn above-ground ruins, the mysterious underground world and the bone-chilling monsters — to help fully immerse viewers.

“Redland” author Xiao Xinghan lauded the film’s deep exploration of how cutting-edge technologies like genetic engineering may impact future society, as well as its extensive use of advanced technologies like AI during production, giving the entire film a strong futuristic sci-fi aesthetic with unique philosophical depth.

Also at Sunday night’s gala, the 3rd Sci-Fi Planet Competition honored outstanding sci-fi enterprises, academic institutions, teams and individuals for their sci-fi and high-tech projects. As China’s first independent international sci-fi competition, it offered a prize pool worth 6.65 million yuan this year. The 2025 edition received 747 submissions from China and 10 other countries, with 61 projects advancing to the finals. Winners included Yan Xi’s “Age of the Godmakers,” Yin Chao’s “Village at the End of the World,” the Three-Body Universe’s VR interactive story “Three-Body: Expedition,” and Vidu, a large-scale Chinese video-generation model by Beijing ShengShu Technology.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre in Nagpur, Maharashtra today. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the significance of Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, marking the beginning of the sacred Navratri festival. He noted that across the country, festivals such as Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Navreh are being celebrated today. He emphasized the importance of the day as it coincides with the birth anniversaries of Bhagwan Jhulelal and Guru Angad Dev. He also acknowledged the occasion as the birth anniversary of the inspirational Dr. K B Hedgewar and the centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) illustrious journey. He expressed his honor in visiting the Smruti Mandir to pay homage to Dr. Hedgewar and Shri Golwalkar Guruji on this momentous day.

Highlighting the celebration of 75 years of the Indian Constitution during this period and the upcoming birth anniversary of its architect, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, next month, Shri Modi remarked on paying homage to Dr. Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi and seeking his blessings. He extended greetings to the citizens on Navratri and all other festivals being celebrated.

Emphasising the significance of Nagpur as a sacred center of service and acknowledging the expansion of a noble initiative, Shri Modi remarked on the inspiring anthem of Madhav Netralaya, which reflects spirituality, knowledge, pride, and humanity. He highlighted Madhav Netralaya as an institution that has been serving millions for decades, following the ideals of Pujya Guruji, and restoring light to countless lives.

He noted the foundation stone laying of the new campus of Madhav Netralaya and expressed confidence that this expansion will accelerate its service activities, bringing light to thousands of new lives and dispelling darkness from their lives. He appreciated the efforts of everyone associated with Madhav Netralaya and extended his best wishes for their continued service.

Reiterating the emphasis laid on ‘Sabke Prayas’ from the Red Fort and highlighting the significant strides made by the country in the healthcare sector, the Prime Minister noted that Madhav Netralaya is complementing these efforts. “Government’s priority is to ensure better healthcare facilities for all citizens, even the poorest should have access to the best possible treatment”, he emphasised, mentioning that no citizen should be deprived of the dignity of life, and senior citizens who have dedicated their lives to the nation should not live in worry about medical treatment. He highlighted the impact of Ayushman Bharat, which has provided free treatment to millions of people. Shri Modi also noted the thousands of Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country, offering affordable medicines to the poor and middle-class families, saving citizens thousands of crores of rupees. He remarked on the establishment of lakhs of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in villages over the past decade, providing primary health care through telemedicine to people. He emphasized that these facilities have eliminated the need for citizens to travel hundreds of kilometers for medical tests.

Underlining the doubling of medical colleges in the country and the tripling of operational AIIMS institutions, Shri Modi said that the number of medical seats has also doubled to ensure the availability of more skilled doctors to serve the people in the future. He emphasized the Government’s efforts to provide opportunities for students to study medicine in their native languages, enabling them to become doctors. He noted that alongside advancements in modern medical science, the country is also promoting its traditional knowledge. He remarked on the global recognition being achieved by India’s yoga and Ayurveda, which are enhancing the nation’s prestige on the world stage.

Mentioning that the existence of any nation depends on the expansion of its culture and consciousness across generations, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s history of centuries of slavery and invasions, which attempted to dismantle its social structure, yet India’s consciousness remained alive and resilient. “Even during the toughest times, new social movements in India kept this consciousness awakened”, he emphasised, citing the Bhakti movement as an example, where saints like Guru Nanak Dev, Kabir Das, Tulsidas, Surdas, and Maharashtra’s Sant Tukaram, Sant Eknath, Sant Namdev, and Sant Dnyaneshwar infused life into India’s national consciousness with their original ideas. He remarked that these movements broke the chains of discrimination and united society. Underscoring the contributions of Swami Vivekananda, who shook a despairing society, reminded it of its true essence, instilled self-confidence, and ensured that India’s national consciousness remained undimmed, the Prime Minister noted the role of Dr. Hedgewar and Guruji in energizing this consciousness during the final decades of colonial rule. He remarked on the seed of thought sown 100 years ago for the preservation and promotion of national consciousness, which has now grown into a great tree. He highlighted that the principles and ideals give height to this great tree, with lakhs of volunteers as its branches. “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is the modern Akshay Vat of the immortal culture of India, this Akshay Vat is continuously energizing Indian culture and the consciousness of our nation”, he added.

Remarking on the natural connection between vision and direction as the new campus of Madhav Netralaya begins its journey, Shri Modi highlighted the significance of vision in life, quoting the Vedic aspiration, “Pashyema Sharadah Shatam,” which means “May we see for a hundred years.” He emphasized the importance of both external vision and inner vision. Recalling the great saint of Vidarbha, Shri Gulabrao Maharaj, known as “Prajnachakshu”, the Prime Minister said, “despite losing his eyesight at a young age, Shri Gulabrao Maharaj authored numerous books”. He noted that while he lacked physical sight, he possessed profound vision, which stems from wisdom and manifests through discernment. He emphasized that such vision empowers both individuals and society. He remarked that the RSS is a sacred endeavor working towards both external and inner vision. He highlighted Madhav Netralaya as an example of external vision and noted that the inner vision has made the Sangh synonymous with service.

The Prime Minister quoted scriptures, emphasizing that the purpose of life is service and altruism. He remarked that when service becomes ingrained in values, it transforms into a form of devotion, which is the essence of every RSS volunteer’s life. He highlighted that this spirit of service inspires generations of volunteers to dedicate themselves tirelessly. He noted that this devotion keeps volunteers constantly active, never allowing them to tire or stop. Recalling Guruji’s words that the significance of life lies not in its duration but in its utility, Shri Modi emphasized the commitment to duty, guided by the principles of “Dev to Desh” and “Ram to Rashtra.” He remarked on the selfless work of volunteers in various fields, whether in border villages, hilly regions, or forest areas. He highlighted their involvement in initiatives like Vanvasi Kalyan Ashrams, Ekal Vidyalayas for tribal children, cultural awakening missions, and Seva Bharati’s efforts to serve the underprivileged. Lauding the exemplary work of volunteers during the Prayag Mahakumbh, where they assisted millions through the Netra Kumbh initiative, he emphasized that wherever there is a need for service, volunteers are present. He remarked on the disciplined response of volunteers during disasters like floods and earthquakes, highlighting their selflessness and dedication to service. “Seva is a sacrificial fire, and we burn like offerings, merging into the ocean of purpose”, he quoted.

Sharing an inspiring anecdote about Guruji, who was once asked why he referred to the Sangh as all-pervasive, Shri Modi said that Guruji compared the Sangh to light, emphasizing that while light may not perform every task itself, it dispels darkness and shows others the way forward. He remarked that Guruji’s teaching serves as a life mantra, urging everyone to become a source of light, remove obstacles, and pave the way for progress. He highlighted the essence of selflessness with the principles, “Not I, but you,” and “Not mine, but for the nation.”

Emphasising the importance of prioritizing “we” over “I” and placing the nation first in all policies and decisions, the Prime Minister said that such an approach yields visible positive impacts across the country. He highlighted the need to break the chains that have held the nation back, stressing the importance of moving beyond a colonial mindset. He noted that India is now replacing remnants of colonialism, carried for 70 years with inferiority, with new chapters of national pride. He remarked on the replacement of outdated British laws designed to demean Indians with the new Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. He highlighted the transformation of Rajpath into Kartavya Path, symbolizing duty over colonial legacy. He also noted the removal of colonial symbols from the Navy’s flag, which now proudly features the emblem of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He further acknowledged the renaming of islands in the Andaman region, where Veer Savarkar endured hardships for the nation and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose sounded the bugle of freedom, to honor the heroes of India’s independence.

“India’s guiding principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” is reaching every corner of the world and is being reflected in India’s actions”, exclaimed Shri Modi, highlighting India’s efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing vaccines to the world as a family. He noted India’s prompt response to natural disasters, including the recent earthquake in Myanmar under “Operation Brahma,” as well as assistance during earthquakes in Türkiye and Nepal and the water crisis in the Maldives. He emphasized India’s role in evacuating citizens of other countries during conflicts and noted that India’s progress is amplifying the voice of the Global South. He remarked that this spirit of global brotherhood stems from India’s cultural values. Highlighting India’s youth as the nation’s greatest asset, brimming with confidence and an enhanced capacity for risk-taking, Shri Modi noted their contributions to innovation, startups, and their pride in India’s heritage and culture. He cited the participation of lakhs of young people in the Prayag Mahakumbh as an example of their connection to India’s eternal traditions. He remarked on the youth’s focus on national needs, their role in the success of “Make in India,” and their vocal support for local products. He emphasized their determination to live and work for the nation, excelling from sports fields to space exploration, driven by a spirit of nation-building. He expressed confidence that India’s youth will lead the nation toward the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. The PM highlighted the synergy of organization, dedication, and service as the driving force behind this journey. He remarked that the decades of effort and dedication by the RSS are bearing fruit, writing a new chapter in India’s development.

The Prime Minister remarked on the contrasting circumstances during the establishment of the RSS in 1925, a time marked by struggle and the overarching goal of independence. He highlighted the significance of the Sangh’s 100-year journey and noted that the period from 2025 to 2047 presents new, ambitious goals for the nation. He recalled Guruji’s inspiring words from a letter, expressing the desire to be a small stone in the foundation of a grand national edifice. He emphasized the need to keep the commitment to service ignited, maintain relentless effort, and realize the dream of a developed India. He reiterated his vision, as shared during the construction of Shri Ram’s temple in Ayodhya, to lay the foundation for a strong India for the next thousand years. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the guidance of luminaries like Dr. Hedgewar and Guruji will continue to empower the nation. He concluded by affirming the resolve to fulfill the vision of a developed India and honor the sacrifices of generations.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari, RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, Swami Govind Devgiri Maharaj, Swami Avdheshanand Giri Maharaj, Dr. Avinash Chandra Agnihotri, and other distinguished guests were present during the occasion.

Cricketer Deepti Sharma as well as Boxers Sonia Lather and Prachi Dhankhar join event in New Delhi

Posted On: 30 MAR 2025 3:52PM by PIB Delhi

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya once again led the Fit India Sundays on Cycle in Junagadh, Gujarat, today. Simultaneously, the cycling rally was flagged off by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan from Cliff House, Trivandrum.

In Junagadh, over 500 cyclists embarked on a route from the iconic Girnar Gate to the revered Bhavnath Mahadev temple, hosted by Sports Authority of India (SAI) Regional Centre in Gandhinagar. In Trivandrum, the rally followed an iconic 7 km route, from the Cliff House through the Central Stadium; this was hosted by the SAI Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (SAI LNCPE).

This week’s Sundays on Cycle placed a special emphasis on the involvement of school students across the country, who cycled alongside their parents and teachers. “You can make a lifelong friendship with cycling, so make this exercise your best friend,” Dr. Mandaviya encouraged participants at the event in Junagadh. “The Fit India campaign is developing as a nationwide festival, and today, the large participation of school children in Sundays on Cycle vividly depicts this. Paying attention to health is crucial for the progress of the country.”

Active cycling drives were also conducted across Khelo India Centres (KICs), in districts such as Shivtarai in Bilaspur and Janjgir Champa in Chhattisgarh, Darbhanga in Bihar, and Orai in Uttar Pradesh.

In Trivandrum, over 500 fitness enthusiasts, cycling groups, and organizations from across Kerala, including Indian Army CRPF, BSF, NCC, Kerala Police (SAP), Kerala Police (Traffic), Crime Branch, Collectorate, FCI, RBI, Department of Sports, Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, KRCC, KSSC, NSS, Trivandrum Golf Club, Kerala Olympic Association, Kerala Cycling Association, participated.

“As a cricketer, I understand the profound significance of physical activity,” remarked Deepti Sharma, a key member of the Indian women’s cricket team that secured gold at the Asian Games 2022. “Cycling is not only a fantastic way to stay fit but also an enjoyable activity that strengthens connections within our communities and promotes environmental consciousness. It is truly amazing that over 2 lakh riders from all age groups have participated in the Sundays on Cycle initiative since its start in December 2024, spanning over 4500 locations across the country.”

21-year-old boxer Prachi Dhankhar expressed her appreciation for the broader impact of the Fit India Movement. “The Fit India Movement is a fantastic initiative, launched under the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, in 2019, with the aim of creating a healthier and more active nation. So many diverse events have been conducted through this movement – walking, jogging, and now cycling. It is truly heartening to see,” she shared.

Sonia Lather, silver medalist at the 2016 World Boxing Championship, conveyed her enthusiasm for the event’s inclusive nature. “Fitness should be the foremost priority for everyone, regardless of age,” Lather emphasized. “It was a truly enriching experience to ride alongside children as young as 6 or 7 years old, as well as individuals well over and under 70 years old.”

Shri A. K Sharma, Energy Minister, Uttar Pradesh, Shri Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Energy Minister, Andhra Pradesh, Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Energy Minister, Madhya Pradesh, Smt. Meghana Sakore Bordikar, Minister of State for Energy, Maharashtra and Shri Somendra Tomar, Minister of State for Energy, Uttar Pradesh attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by senior officials from Central Government, State Governments, State Power Utilities of Member States, Power Finance Corporation (PFC) Ltd and REC Ltd.

In his opening remarks, Union Minister of State welcomed Energy Ministers from the Member States and thanked Energy Minister, Uttar Pradesh, for hosting the meeting. He highlighted about the discussions held during the first two meetings of the GoM and the collective efforts required from the member States for improvement of power distribution sector. He highlighted the need for designing a mechanism for financial restructuring of liabilities of distribution utilities, lowering interest burden on utilities, development of storage solutions, facilitating daytime power supply for agriculture to lower the overall power purchase costs and reduce subsidy burdens.

The Minister also highlighted the need for implementing AI and digital innovations and need for ensuring cost-reflective tariffs for financial viability of power sector. He added that implementing these measures shall help utilities improve the financial sustainability. He also emphasized the need for a scheme similar to UDAY.

In his address Energy Minister, Uttar Pradesh thanked the Union Minister of State for having the 3rd meeting of the Group of Ministers in Lucknow.  He highlighted the achievements of the State of Uttar Pradesh in the power sector including adoption of RE technologies. He commended that the measures taken by the Government of India will have far reaching impact on making country’s distribution sector stronger and healthier. He emphasised on the need for expeditious growth of renewable sources of energy coupled with energy storage solutions so as to meet the future challenges of energy transition and growing power demand. Hon’ble Minister mentioned about the importance of the Government of India’s role in aiding human resources development for achieving better outputs.

Joint Secretary (Distribution), Ministry of Power, GoI made a presentation highlighting key areas of intervention identified during first two meetings of the GoM and proposed measures to be taken by the stakeholders (Central Govt., State Govts. and Regulatory Commissions) to address the viability concern for deliberation.

TATA power distribution, Odisha, as a special invitee, shared the best practices adopted and their journey toward making their DISCOMs profitable.

The member States actively participated in the meeting and presented the overview of State DISCOMs. They gave valuable suggestions for improving the financial condition of DISCOMs. States of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu made presentations on the subject.

The contours of the Action plan identifying the ways to reduce the outstanding debts and losses of the distribution utilities and the means to bring them into profits, were discussed in detail.

Emphasis was placed on the need for review of regulators’ performance for determining tariffs. The support from Government of India for Privatisation initiatives by State was suggested. The need for regulators to adapt to the latest developments in the sector including the current levels of RE integration, the requirements of capacity building and O&M costs, while finalizing the tariff, was also discussed. It was discussed that delays in payment of Government department dues and subsidies are forcing DISCOMs to resort to working capital loans, which are not being passed on in tariff. There are also delays in passing on of Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustments in tariffs thus creating need for working capital which are not considered in Annual Revenue Requirements of the Utilities. To avoid future tariff shocks, it was suggested to link tariffs to annual inflation-linked tariff hike.

The Group of Ministers reiterated its commitment and expressed resolve to take necessary measures for improving the financial viability of DISCOMs.

In his Closing remarks, the Hon’ble Union Minister of State emphasized on the need for States to demonstrate greater political will and determination to make the power sector viable and urged the member States to work upon the ideas that have emerged during the meeting. It was recommended to invite All India DISCOM Association (AIDA) to the next GoM meeting for their suggestions.

It was also unanimously decided to have 4th meeting of GoM in Andhra Pradesh in the month of April.

  • MIL-OSI: Parker Blackwood Advisers Forecasts Economic Headwinds and Opportunities in Pre-Election Australia

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

PERTH, Australia, March 31, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — As the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) prepares to announce its monetary policy decision on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, Parker Blackwood Advisers provides its latest insights into an evolving economic landscape defined by cautious optimism, global headwinds, and a looming federal election.

Following the RBA’s surprise February rate cut—lowering the cash rate from 4.35% to 4.10%—most major banks now anticipate the central bank will pause further easing during the April meeting. The cash rate remains at 4.10%, and while expectations for future reductions vary, there is broad consensus that the next cut is more likely to occur mid-year, with estimates ranging from May (Commonwealth Bank) to August (ANZ). Westpac and NAB also expect multiple cuts before year’s end, bringing the rate closer to 3.35%.

While inflation has moderated, last recorded at 2.4%—well within the RBA’s target band of 2–3%—uncertainty remains high. Parker Blackwood Advisers analysts caution that monetary easing alone is not a panacea. The upcoming May 3 federal election introduces fiscal unpredictability, while global developments—including the possibility of renewed U.S. tariffs—could exert upward pressure on prices and delay the disinflation trend.

“Markets have welcomed the February rate cut, but future moves will be heavily data-dependent,” said Daniel Lewis, Account Executive at Parker Blackwood Advisers. “We don’t expect an aggressive cutting cycle. The RBA is aware of the risks of acting too quickly and reigniting inflation.”

The firm’s research team emphasizes that Australia’s economic fortunes remain closely tied to international trade flows. Any disruption—such as shifting trade policies under a potential second Trump presidency—could complicate domestic monetary policy and affect investor confidence.

Parker Blackwood Advisers also continues to spotlight Australia’s sluggish productivity growth as a critical structural challenge. Without sustained improvements in output per worker, meaningful wage growth and long-term economic expansion will remain elusive.

“We view productivity as central to the recovery narrative,” added Rupert Wade, Account Executive. “If interest rates are to fall sustainably, we must match monetary policy with real reforms—particularly in innovation, infrastructure, and education.”

While many households hope for further rate relief, Parker Blackwood Advisers underscores that any easing will likely be gradual, with decisions spaced across the RBA’s remaining six meetings this year. Governor Michele Bullock has reiterated that policy moves will be measured to avoid reigniting inflationary pressures.

In this transitional environment, Parker Blackwood Advisers wealth management team continues to support clients in repositioning portfolios. With interest rate trajectories uncertain and traditional investment avenues offering limited real returns, demand for fixed income and private market opportunities is growing.

“Investors are moving away from a passive, wait-and-see approach,” observed David Reid, Account Executive. “We’re seeing strong interest in defensive yield strategies that balance stability with attractive returns.”

Everyday investors across Australia are increasingly seeking alternatives to term deposits and property—especially in the face of rate volatility and global unpredictability. At Parker Blackwood Advisers, our approach is clear: we offer tailored investment strategies designed to reflect your risk profile, financial goals, and long-term vision.

Whether you’re focused on capital preservation, steady income, or exposure to non-traditional markets, our experienced advisers can help build a resilient financial plan—regardless of where rates move next.

  • MIL-OSI: ForexEKO Revolutionizes Classic Candlestick Trading with AI Automation

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

LIMASSOL, CYPRUS, March 30, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Avenix Fzco announces the launch of ForexEKO, an AI-powered trading system that modernizes candlestick pattern analysis for precision trading. The trading world often talks about innovation, but some of the most effective strategies come from pairing old-school insights with modern technology. One of the clearest examples of this today is the revival of candlestick pattern trading, an age-old technique now getting a serious upgrade through automation and intelligent systems. At the center of this shift is ForexEKO, developed by Avenix Fzco, a trading system that brings new life to classic techniques using AI-driven pattern recognition and smart automation.

    Why Candlestick Patterns Still Matter

Candlestick formations like the Hammer, Doji, and Engulfing have helped traders read market sentiment for decades. They tell a story about price movement – helping identify potential reversals or breakouts. But manually spotting these patterns takes time and experience, and even then, interpretation can vary. That’s where automated systems step in.

    Modern Tech, Classic Strategy

ForexEKO enhances candlestick analysis by detecting and evaluating these formations using automated logic. This removes the guesswork, offering cleaner signals backed by historical data. By processing large datasets and eliminating inconsistencies in pattern recognition, ForexEKO helps traders make faster, more confident decisions.

    What Makes ForexEKO Stand Out

    • Multi-Layered Trading Logic: ForexEKO doesn’t rely on candlesticks alone. It blends price action with indicators like Moving Averages and Oscillators to validate patterns and reduce false entries.
    • Clear Risk Parameters: Every trade is secured with predefined Stop Loss and Take Profit levels. A global stop-loss mechanism adds extra protection, while a cautious martingale feature can assist in recovery without reckless exposure.
    • Backed by Real Data: ForexEKO has been optimized using high-quality tick data from Thinkberry SRL’s Tick Data Suite. This ensures the system is based on real conditions – not assumptions. The result is a track record of stable performance, with simulations showing potential returns of up to 100% yearly from a $10,000 deposit, all while maintaining low drawdowns.

    Looking Ahead

The integration of AI into traditional trading strategies like candlestick analysis signifies a broader shift towards more sophisticated and reliable trading tools. As AI continues to evolve, its ability to process vast amounts of data and identify subtle patterns will further enhance the precision of trading strategies, benefiting both novice and experienced traders.

  • MIL-OSI New Zealand: Tech – Samsung To Launch Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, The Most Powerful Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner in the World

    Source: Samsung

Ground-breaking new vacuum cleaner unveiled at Samsung’s annual global launch event  is now ready to expand to the global market

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – March 31, 2025 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the global rollout of the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, the world’s most powerful cordless stick vacuum cleaner, which was unveiled at the Welcome to Bespoke AI global event held this month. Featuring the upgraded AI Cleaning Mode 2.0 and advanced HEPA filtration system, this latest innovation builds on Samsung’s leadership in smart home cleaning appliances.

“Samsung has proven its next level innovation in the cordless stick vacuum cleaner segment by launching the most powerful model in the world,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “Building on the previous achievement of the Bespoke Jet AI, which was the world’s first UL verified AI-powered cordless stick vacuum cleaner, we’re confident that this new model will be a true game changer in the global market.”

Clean Thoroughly With Our Most Powerful Suction Power

The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra boasts suction power of up to 400W to tackle even the toughest cleaning tasks. The HexaJet Motor is the key component that generates high suction power. Its unique Hexagon stator structure with a second-stage diffuser and an impeller with the reduced thickness improve airflow and increase motor efficiency, thus enabling up to 400W of suction power. Plus, the motor allows the vacuum cleaner to run for up to 100 minutes on one battery when using Min mode, so users can clean their whole house in one go.

Intelligent Cleaning Support Through AI Cleaning Mode 2.0

The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra also introduces the upgraded AI Cleaning Mode 2.0. By sensing the brush load and vacuuming air pressure, this mode can classify a total of six different cleaning environments using Samsung’s AI Optimum Tech and automatically adjust the cleaning performance. When using the Active Dual Brush, it can recognise whether a carpet is normal or long-pile. The vacuum cleaner senses corners with the Slim LED Brush+, as well. And by adjusting the suction power and brush speed for the different cleaning environments, it uses power more efficiently, reducing battery power use by 21% and increasing manoeuvrability by 8% with performance akin to Mid mode.

    Advanced HEPA Filtration System

Complementing this powerful and intelligent experience, Samsung has enhanced the filtration system to ensure dust particles are captured when air is expelled from the vacuum cleaner. The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra features a Multi-layered Filtration system that effectively traps fine dust. When air comes in, internal compartments like the cyclone and a metal mesh grille filter catch dust particles in succession. As a result, it achieves a filtration efficiency of 99.999%.

Another distinctive benefit is that Samsung has implemented HEPA filtration into its Multi-layered Filtration system. With this system, the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra captures dust particles as small as 0.3µm, allowing less dust to escape into the air.

31st March: A humanitarian crisis is rapidly unfolding on both sides of the South Sudan-Ethiopia border, as escalating violence, displacement and a widespread cholera outbreak are pushing communities to the brink, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) warns.

Clashes between government forces and armed groups, which initially began in Upper Nile State, now risk spreading to other parts of the country, while across the border, Ethiopia’s Gambella region is experiencing the effects of this violence. According to the United Nations, approximately 10,000 displaced people have crossed into Ethiopia since the beginning of March.

“We have already witnessed how this violence has fuelled the spread of cholera in several areas, but a larger, escalating conflict could push the entire country into an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe,” says Zakaria Mwatia, MSF Head of Mission in South Sudan. “We urgently call on all parties to the conflict to ensure the protection of civilians, healthcare workers, and medical facilities, and to grant unhindered access for humanitarian and medical assistance, in line with international humanitarian law.”

South Sudan has been grappling with cholera outbreaks across various parts of the country since last year. The latest wave, which began in Upper Nile State, is now spreading further into neighbouring Jonglei state, the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, and across the border into Ethiopia’s Gambella region, where MSF teams are working to treat patients amid the surge in cases.

In Upper Nile State, MSF is treating those wounded in the violence and supporting cholera treatment facilities in Ulang, Malakal and Renk counties. In Jonglei State, MSF is responding in Lankien as well as in Akobo, where a 100-bed cholera treatment unit set up by MSF in Akobo County Hospital has treated over 300 patients in just over two weeks. MSF is also responding in Pibor town in the Greater Pibor Administrative area. Since the beginning of March, MSF teams have treated over 1,000 cholera patients across South Sudan and received over 30 patients wounded in the violence.

Ruach Riek Chuol was admitted to MSF hospital in Ulang with injuries he sustained in the violence. “My goods and property for my business were all burned inside the house,” he says. “Everything was destroyed in the fire, including the house where I was.”

In Ethiopia’s Gambella region, MSF in collaboration with the Ministry of Health has treated over 560 cholera patients since the start of the response in early March, in its Cholera Treatment Centre and units (CTC/CTUs) in Mattar, Moan and Burbeiye with a capacity of 100 beds. MSF is also running oral rehydration points and conducting water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and community-based activities including door-to-door cholera awareness and water purification efforts, reaching over 5,000 people across multiple locations. In addition to cholera treatment, MSF teams have also provided medical care to 160 patients wounded in the clashes in South Sudan.

“I came here because back home in Nasir, people are being killed,” said a South Sudanese mother who recently arrived in Burbeiye, Ethiopia. “There was nothing to eat, and when we arrived at the areas where we took respite, my kids became sick. There were no health facilities that we could run to.”

The situation is rapidly deteriorating as thousands fleeing violence in South Sudan are crossing the border to seek safety. In Wanthoa Woreda, a new encampment in Burbeiye has emerged almost overnight, with over 6,500 new arrivals reported by local administrators — many of them women, children, and the elderly, arriving after days of travel.

“The displaced people are arriving in Gambella with little more than what they can carry,” said Joshua Eckley, MSF Head of Mission in Ethiopia. “Our teams are responding to the cholera outbreak and providing care to those arriving exhausted and in poor condition. There are significant needs, and without additional support, the situation could worsen.”

This crisis comes at a time when South Sudan and Ethiopia are facing major reductions in donor funding, including the recent USAID cuts. While MSF does not accept funding from the US government, the cuts in the humanitarian and health assistance would severely reduce capacity of other organisations to respond to such crises.

“In places like Akobo in Jonglei State, the cholera response has been highly impacted by funding cuts, including closure of critical health services,” says Zakaria. “A number of mobile clinics have already shut down following US funding cuts, and some organisations that supported health facilities, including cholera treatment units, have suspended all activities. This is part of a broader trend across the country.”

The healthcare system in South Sudan suffers from chronic underfunding, shortages of skilled health staff, medicines and supplies, and has limited capacity to respond to emergencies. The country, already struggling to meet its own medical and humanitarian needs, is further burdened by the arrival of over one million people fleeing war in neighbouring Sudan. Urgent support is needed to provide safe water, implement widespread cholera vaccination campaigns, and reinforce treatment capacity for both cholera patients and trauma cases.

“Disruptions in cholera treatment services, combined with reduced actors’ capacity to support oral vaccination campaigns, heighten the risk of further spread. We urge donors to allocate emergency funds for emergency response in South Sudan and neighbouring Ethiopia amid this escalating crisis,” Zakaria adds.

MSF is an international, medical, humanitarian organisation that delivers medical care to people in need, regardless of their origin, religion, or political affiliation. MSF has been working in Haiti for over 30 years, offering general healthcare, trauma care, burn wound care, maternity care, and care for survivors of sexual violence. MSF Australia was established in 1995 and is one of 24 international MSF sections committed to delivering medical humanitarian assistance to people in crisis. In 2022, more than 120 project staff from Australia and New Zealand worked with MSF on assignment overseas. MSF delivers medical care based on need alone and operates independently of government, religion or economic influence and irrespective of race, religion or gender. • MIL-OSI China: Hong Kong’s mega-event March sees over 3.4M visitors

Source: China State Council Information Office

Hong Kong recorded more than 3.4 million visitors in March as of Friday, up about 12 percent year-on-year, including around 960,000 non-Chinese mainland tourists, boosted by a slew of mega events held in Hong Kong this month, Paul Chan, financial secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, has said.

In a blog post on Sunday, Chan highlighted the Hong Kong Sevens, a major rugby event concluding on Sunday, which has elevated the festive atmosphere to new heights. The Kai Tak Sports Park, freshly opened in March, offers a larger venue with world-class facilities for the matches, with expected attendance reaching a record 140,000. All 60-plus corporate boxes at the venue were sold out well in advance, he said.

Chan shared his personal experience at the Art Basel Hong Kong exhibition held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. He said that the five-day event is projected to attract more attendees than last year’s turnout of 75,000. Earlier this month, the international trendy cultural event ComplexCon also saw success, drawing 35,000 visitors, a 16 percent increase from the previous year, with total sales exceeding 87 million Hong Kong dollars (11.18 million U.S. dollars) over three days, he added.

In recent weeks, several major conferences have taken place, including the Wealth for Good in Hong Kong Summit 2025, hosted by the HKSAR government, along with various meetings organized by financial, academic, media, and international institutions.

Chan noted that international guests frequently observed that Hong Kong has regained its vibrancy and energy. The financial market has shown notable improvement this year, with rising stock markets and significant increases in trading volume. New stock financing activities have also become more active.

Coupled with breakthroughs in cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and developments in the cultural and creative industries, international investors are reassessing the financial markets in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, increasing their investment allocations in the region. They also hope to explore more investment opportunities in the Chinese mainland and surrounding areas through Hong Kong as a platform, Chan said.

Looking ahead, Chan stated that the HKSAR government would continue to promote the mega-event economy and would work alongside the industry to encourage and support businesses in developing more unique products and services, continually enhancing customer experiences to create a bustling and prosperous environment.

  • MIL-OSI China: Liu Cixin: science fiction’s golden age just beginning

Source: China State Council Information Office 3

Award-winning Chinese science fiction author Liu Cixin said at a Beijing academic forum Saturday that he believes the sci-fi era has only just begun, even as rapid technological advances already make some fictional ideas a reality.

“Many ask if science fiction will lose its prophetic power in this era of technological explosion,” Liu said. “I believe true sci-fi is only beginning. Sci-fi has never been a crystal ball predicting the future, but rather a torch illuminating the unknown — keeping us vigilant on the eve of AI awakening, inspiring reverence in the age of genetic decoding and reminding us, as we venture toward the stars, of our original aspiration.”

Liu made the remarks at the eighth annual meeting and academic forum of the Science Fiction Creation and Research Base, an arm of the China Science Writers Association, in Beijing on March 29. The event drew more than 70 notable guests from popular science, science fiction, literature, education and sci-fi-related industries.

The writer said Chinese sci-fi’s greatest opportunity comes from China’s development path, with scientific advancements fueling creative possibilities. Yet, he emphasized that sci-fi is inherently global — a genre transcending cultures, races and national boundaries. “The dreams it envisions and the crises it confronts are universal to humanity,” he noted. “It serves as a bridge, connecting people from all cultural backgrounds.”

Liu, who also serves as president of the Beijing Yuanyu Science Fiction and Future Technology Research Institute, noted that since its founding in 2016, the Science Fiction Creation and Research Base has united creative talents, built international platforms and advanced theoretical research to support the flourishing of Chinese sci-fi. The base also nurtures new authors through writer studios and seminars, supporting the genre’s growth.

“As a member of this base, I understand that what unites us here goes beyond mere attention and expectations – it represents our shared responsibility and commitment to sci-fi’s future development,” he said.

Later at the meeting, Wang Weiying, the base’s executive deputy director and secretary-general, reviewed its 2024 achievements and unveiled its 2025 roadmap. She highlighted collaborative book publications and progress in commercializing sci-fi works, education programs, talent development and academic exchanges. For the coming year, she outlined plans to focus on publishing, research, industrial innovation, talent cultivation and global promotion.

“Science fiction transcends literature — it represents humanity’s collective vision for the future. More than mere imagination, it’s a driving force for progress,” Wang stated. “At this new historical juncture, we will join hands to build a fresh ecosystem for sci-fi culture and compose an even more brilliant chapter for Chinese science fiction.”

The event featured two roundtable discussions: one on using science fiction in education to boost scientific literacy, and another on the emerging “Sci-Fi+” literary trend that blends classical traditions with futuristic visions. The base also unveiled new publications and inaugurated writer studios for authors Peng Liurong and A Que, bringing the total to 18.

“Against the backdrop of rapid global technological advancements — from AI and quantum computing to biotechnology — sci-fi not only transforms people’s daily lives but also stands at the intersection of technology and humanity,” said Qiu Huadong, author and vice chairman of the China Writers Association.

Qiu added that Chinese sci-fi creators have a unique historical mission. “The next generation must draw inspiration from scientific frontiers, trace narrative roots through history and explore human nature’s depths,” he said. “Through innovation, they can create works that are both globally significant and distinctly Chinese.”
