  • MIL-OSI Russia: MIR is now in Iran – the geography of the Russian payment system cards has expanded

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

    Source: Mainfin Bank –

How does the integration of payment systems work?

The integration of the MIR payment system from the Russian Federation and Shetab from Iran has been ongoing in recent years – within the framework of an agreement signed by the heads of the central banks of the states. The interaction takes place in three stages:

In the summer of 2024, Shetab cardholders were given the opportunity to withdraw money from self-service terminals in Russia; now Russians can make purchases at cards MIR in Iran, but in a limited number of locations – where Spaparak terminals are installed; in the near future, Iranians will also be able to pay for purchases with their cards in the Russian Federation.

Acceptance of Russian cards in Iran is available for MIR plastic with contactless payment function – transactions via NFC (payment by smartphone) also work. For small purchases, entering a PIN code is not required.

In which other countries can Russians pay with MIR cards?

The geography of MIR cards has been steadily expanding since the departure of key payment systems from Russia – unconditional acceptance of plastic is available in Belarus, Abkhazia, Ossetia, and Cuba (they are planning to issue MIR cards on the island). Plastic is accepted with restrictions in a number of CIS countries, as well as in popular destinations among Russian tourists, including Vietnam, Laos, and the Maldives.

“Given the difficult geopolitical situation, tourists traveling abroad are advised to stock up on cash and purchase “All Inclusive” tours in order to protect themselves as much as possible from possible financial problems with Russian cards,” the expert noted.

At the same time, in 2024, due to the risk of secondary sanctions, several countries refused to work with the NPS “MIR”, including Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Uzbekistan and Turkey. Negotiations on the possible integration of payment systems are ongoing with India, Indonesia, Mexico, Egypt and Thailand.

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Rosneft – Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Rosneft conducted two scientific expeditions to study the populations of polar bears and marine mammals in the Kara Sea. Specialists from the A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution took part in the field work in the north of Krasnoyarsk Krai and on the Yamal Peninsula. The main goal of the research was a full-scale census, assessment of the distribution of polar bears and marine mammals using instrumental (photo and infrared aerial photography) and aerovisual methods.

The expeditions are carried out within the framework of Rosneft’s corporate program for the conservation of Arctic biodiversity, called “Tamura”. The polar bear is a bioindicator species. Based on the health of these endangered predators, scientists draw conclusions about the sustainability of northern ecosystems as a whole.

Eight flights of the AN-28 laboratory aircraft were made from the village of Sabetta in Yamal for a comprehensive survey of the inner delta of the Gulf of Ob and the southeastern part of the Kara Sea. The total length of the routes was almost 10 thousand km, more than 90 thousand images were taken, which will be processed using neural network algorithms. During the aerial visual observations, 22 polar bears, 23 walruses, 616 seals, 77 belugas, as well as rare bird species were recorded.

Ten flights of the Mi-8MTV-1 helicopter were made from the village of Dikson to survey the ice of a number of islands, as well as the ice in the Yenisei Gulf to Sever Bay and along the northern coast of the Taimyr Peninsula to the mouth of the Uboynaya River. The length of the routes was almost 5 thousand km. During the work, 37 polar bears of various ages and both sexes were registered. Fifteen adult bears were captured, 10 animals were tagged with satellite collars and ear tags for remote tracking of migration routes. Scientists also took blood samples and fur samples from polar bears to study their health and genetic affiliation to a particular subpopulation.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: “Lepota Day” at the Polytechnic: a family holiday that unites everyone

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University – Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University –

On Saturday, May 17, the Polytechnic Park was a celebration: excursions, master classes, car and motorcycle rides, songs, dances, a fashion show. All this and much more was included in the program of the family festival “Lepota Day”, which has become traditional for our university thanks to successful start last year.

The celebration for the Polytechnic University employees, their families and friends was organized by various departments of the university. They prepared several entertainment zones related to the main areas of “Lepota” – a project that has been implemented at the Polytechnic University for several years and affects various aspects of the life of the university community. These are health, sports, cultural development, care for the environment, emotional well-being, career and more.

We are glad that the family festival “Lepota Day” is already becoming a tradition and attracts the attention of not only guests, but also participants: this year, several initiative units, knowing about the successful experience of last year, themselves asked to include them in the program. Our festival is becoming larger and more diverse, everyone will find something to their liking. I am sure that such a warm family event not only unites polytechnics and introduces their children to the best university from the inside, but also performs the most important function of forming the corporate culture and ecosystem of “Lepota”, – emphasized the head of the SPbPU Public Relations Department Marianna Dyakova.

During the celebration, everyone was able to choose an activity to their liking. Participants enthusiastically painted the Polytechnic logo – a large letter “P”: they left warm wishes, confessed their love for their native university, and drew everything that came to mind.

Together with the guides of the SPbPU History Museum, the university staff and guests learned about the students’ exploits during the Great Patriotic War and how the university worked during the difficult period. The lives of the polytechnic students during the war years were also the subject of a reconstruction organized by the military-historical club “Our Polytechnic”. The activists taught those who wanted to learn archery, sword handling, and historical dancing.

Members of the role-playing club “Engineering Alliance” organized a medieval knight’s tournament. The sports and technical sports club “Extreme” demonstrated retro cars that are rarely seen on the streets. Moreover, you could ride them!

Festival participants learned about chemical processes at a show from the student community “KhimTim”, touched the technologies of the future and controlled robots from the “Omnivorous” team.

My daughter Alexandra really enjoyed the chemical show, and I enjoyed playing table tennis. Wonderful weather, a great holiday, a beautiful park of the Polytechnic University! We attend the family festival every year, and I can say that it has already become our tradition. The organizers are great, we had a lot of fun and positive impressions, — shared the scientific secretary of SPbPU Dmitry Karpov.

Nine-year-old Arina and five-year-old Katya, daughters of the director of the Higher School of Software Engineering Pavel Drobintsev, especially enjoyed studying 3D modeling.

Many visitors were attracted by the master class on creating a house for squirrels. Face painting was also very popular. The team of the psychological support center “Tochka Opory” held a class where participants sculpted from plasticine.

We came to the celebration with the whole family: my wife Tatyana, four-year-old daughter Arina and eight-year-old son Artem. Despite being busy and having a busy work schedule, we wanted to relax and spend the weekend together. The children took part in the chemistry show with great pleasure, built a house for a squirrel and made things out of plasticine. We had a great time, learned something new and talked to friends and colleagues in an informal setting, – said Vyacheslav Olshevsky, Director of the SPbPU Student City.

The master classes were also very much enjoyed by ten-year-old Sasha and eight-year-old Alena. They came to the party together with their grandmother Elena Druzhinina, a 1985 Polytechnic graduate.

I studied technical cybernetics, my husband graduated from the mechanical engineering department, and my daughter is also a graduate of the mechanical engineering department. You could say that the Polytechnic is our destiny! We had very friendly groups, and even formed several married couples. Every year we get together with classmates, attend various university events. I hope that my grandchildren will also become Polytechnicians, Sasha clearly has technical abilities, – shared Elena Druzhinina.

The event featured a fashion show, where the main stars were the pets of the Polytechnic University employees. The owners dressed their pets in costumes, giving everyone an unforgettable experience. Public relations specialist Alina Melnikova decorated her dog Iriska with a multi-colored hat, which suited her amazingly.

Iriska did a great job as a photo model today. She stood on the path, everyone was taking pictures of her and petting her, Alina Melnikova said.

Lead programmer of the IT Department Artem Prokofiev came to the festival with a Spitz named Loki: Loki has many costumes, we chose the most beautiful one for the show. My dog is very demanding and cunning by nature. If he doesn’t like something, it immediately becomes noticeable.

Through an exciting game and casual conversation, the Center for Career Guidance and Pre-University Training helped polytechnic students and their friends determine their interests, find a suitable area for development, and draw up a plan for mastering a specialty.

For fans of active recreation, the skateboarding community organized a master class on basic tricks, a relay race with prizes, and a mass race around the site. There was also a master class dedicated to the technique of Nordic walking.

Popular songs of the Russian stage were performed by the participants of the project “Star of Polytechnic”. This is an annual competition that gives students the opportunity to gain fame and develop themselves creatively. The finalists and participants of the project become welcome guests at events of various levels. In the Polytechnic Park, they delighted guests with modern compositions and hits of the Soviet era.

I love the Polytechnic University and the people who work here. I have worked at the Polytechnic all my life, my eldest son is a polytechnician. I came to the festival with my youngest son Egor. He enjoyed playing table tennis, he liked the retro cars. The podium show was great! I wish further development to the family festival “Lepota Den”, this is a wonderful tradition, – shared the director of the Department of Economics and Finance Elena Vinogradova.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: In Zamoskvorechye, more than 170 houses have been overhauled in 10 years

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

Over the 10 years of implementing the capital repair program for the housing stock, specialists from the Moscow city services complex have put 172 buildings in the historical district of Zamoskvorechye in order. Here you can find both buildings from the early 20th century and modern typical buildings.

    House on Malaya Pionerskaya Street

In 2023, major repairs were carried out in house 21, building 1 on Malaya Pionerskaya Street. This four-story L-shaped building was built in 1914 according to the design of architect Andrei Khomko, who built many apartment buildings in the capital. Its main façade is flanked by two trapezoid bay windows, which end with balconies, and is highlighted by decorative pediments and pilasters. The windows are decorated with window sills and keystones, and the first floor is decorated with rustication. The courtyard façade is decorated with a risalit with an arched end.

During the major repairs, specialists restored the facade. They cleared and repaired the plaster layer, locally repaired the brickwork, sealed the seams and applied antifungal protection. Then they put the rustication in order, restored the keystones, pilasters and panels and returned the building to its historical beige color.

In addition, the craftsmen updated the basement, drainpipes, repaired the entrance groups and installed modern double-glazed windows in the entrances. In conclusion, the specialists replaced the risers of the drainage, cold water supply and central heating.

    House on Novokuznetskaya street

In the same year, a six-story building at 4/12 Novokuznetskaya Street, Building 2, was put in order in Zamoskvorechye. The building was constructed in 1938 according to the design of architect Zinovy Rosenfeld in the style of Soviet neoclassicism. Its facades are distinguished by multi-component plasticity. The main one is highlighted horizontally by interfloor cornices, and the verticals of the loggias are united by niches and decorated with pilasters. The balcony slabs are supported by brackets. The facades of the retail premises on the first floor are decorated with stained glass and pilasters. A crowning cornice is located along the perimeter of the building.

Before the start of the major repairs, specialists selected modern domestic materials and technologies. At the first stage, they cleared the facade of old paint and dirt, knocked off peeling parts of the plaster layer and put in order the places of destruction, weathered seams and brickwork. Then they treated wet places with antifungal and antiseptic compounds, cleaned and carefully restored decorative elements, repaired interfloor belts, dentils, pilasters and brackets.

The walls and architectural elements were painted in historical colors of “ivory” and “beige chiffon”. In conclusion, specialists plastered the base of the house, replaced the drainpipes, repaired the entrance groups, balconies and loggias.

    House on Bolshaya Tatarskaya

This year, a residential building constructed in the Soviet neoclassical style and located at 36 Bolshaya Tatarskaya Street will be transformed. The six-story building was erected in 1939 according to an individual project. Its facades are distinguished by complex plasticity and decorated with decorative elements. The main ones are highlighted by rustication at the level of the first and second floors and caissons at the level of the third to sixth. The second and third floors are separated by a wide belt with balconies decorated with decorative niches and brackets. The balconies above are distinguished by a semicircular shape. The central entrance group is decorated with columns, and the two side ones – with bas-relief, arched stepped platbands and capitals. Window openings, including those of the stairwell and elevator units, are framed with decorative platbands. On the courtyard facades there are double two-wing and three-wing windows, as well as rectangular balconies. The building is completed with a crowning cornice with decorative elements.

To restore the house, an individual project was developed, modern technologies and domestic materials were selected. A new electrical network has already been installed at the site and the roof has been put in order: the roof covering on the pitched roof has been replaced, the lathing has been repaired, all wooden structures have been treated with a fire-retardant composition and the optimal temperature and humidity conditions have been established using mineral wool slabs. Now the craftsmen are repairing the entrances: they are putting the floor in order, plastering and painting the walls, updating the geometry of the steps and handrails.

Next, specialists will clean and wash the facade. Wet areas will be treated with antifungal compounds, and all decorative elements will be put in order. Then the building will be plastered and painted in historical shades: the color “gray flannel” for the rusticated lower part and “beige natural rice” for the upper floors, entrance portals, panels and other elements. In addition, the craftsmen will put the balconies in order, replace the windows and tiles in the entrances and renovate the entrances to the building.

The regional program for capital repairs of housing stock being implemented in the capital corresponds to the goals and objectives of the national project “Infrastructure for life”.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Sergei Sobyanin spoke about interesting discoveries of Moscow archaeologists

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

The central part of Moscow, like many other areas, is the richest source of knowledge about the past of the city and the country. And this heritage is carefully protected and studied. This was written in on your blog Sergei Sobyanin.

Before excavation work begins, an assessment of the archaeological potential of the territory is mandatory. And if necessary, excavations begin.

“Since 2010 alone, Moscow archaeologists have discovered more than 120,000 individual finds. The most ancient ones date back to the 12th–13th centuries, meaning they are the same age as our city. Last year, archaeological work was carried out at more than 200 sites with a total area of 15.4 thousand square meters — twice as much as in 2023. The excavations yielded a record number of finds — more than 13,000 individual items,” the Moscow Mayor shared.

In the new season, archaeologists will have no less work. They will examine more than 200 sites in the Tagansky, Presnensky, Basmanny, Zamoskvorechye, Khamovniki, Krasnopakhorsky, Bekasovo and Shcherbinka districts. The total area of excavations will be no less than five thousand square meters.

The archaeological work that began last year in Kitaygorodsky Proezd will continue on the site of one of the earthen bastions from the early 18th century and the buildings of the orphanage that were built here in the 19th century. Specialists will also work on Yauzskaya Street on the site of the 17th-century Semenovskaya Sloboda and the city estate, which housed the Yauzskaya Hospital in the second half of the 19th century, and on Timura Frunze Street on the site of the 17th-century Khamovnaya Sloboda, and on Soymonovsky Proezd on the site of the village of Semchinskoye from the 14th–17th centuries.

Excavations are being carried out in Maly Kislovsky Lane, Luzhnetsky Proezd and on Nikolskaya Street.

The new addresses include sites on Baumanskaya Street, Polyanka, Bolshaya Ordynka, Bolshaya Nikitskaya and Pyzhevsky Lane.

“By the way, at many excavations work continues in winter. Special greenhouses prevent the soil from freezing. So there are already the first finds of the current year, 2025 – more than 4.3 thousand artifacts. These are mainly fragments of ceramics and glass, but there are also individual finds. Among them is a red frame tile from the 16th century with a complex ornate ornament, found on the territory of the Chizhevsky courtyard on Nikolskaya Street. Each such tile is an important find that opens another window into the world of medieval art,” wrote Sergei Sobyanin.

Ceramic confectionery molds from the 19th century were found on Shlyuzovaya Embankment — these include flowers, cones, and probably bows. They were most likely used to make cookies or candies. Just like today, consumers in the 19th century appreciated the variety of desserts, thus stimulating the imagination of cooks.

Another interesting find from the Chizhevsky farmstead is a glazed ceramic dish from the 16th century, made in Turkey. The artifact is decorated with a floral pattern and a bouquet of blue flowers resembling carnations and, possibly, lavender sprigs. Such a dish is a striking example of trade relations between Russia and the East.

In Romanov Lane, at a depth of four meters inside the perimeter of a building that burned down many centuries ago, non-ferrous metal bells dating from the second half of the 16th to the beginning of the 17th century were found. Apparently, they were hidden either before Khan Devlet Giray’s invasion of Moscow in 1571, or before the Polish intervention of 1609. During the winter, restorers carefully cleaned the outer and inner surfaces of the bells, so now the bells have a wonderful exhibition appearance.

A cylindrical combination lock made of non-ferrous metal dating back to the second half of the 17th century was also found in Romanov Lane. It consists of seven disks with the Latin letters C, E, X, G, D applied to them. The most interesting thing is the two Latin letters MW on the end. Perhaps this is the monogram of its owner or the owner of the estate where the archaeological research was conducted. There is a possibility that it could be the regimental doctor Ulf, but scientists have yet to find out.

“As usual, all the finds will be carefully restored and then transferred to the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation as part of the collections. And since summer is just beginning and the main work is still ahead, we will probably still find many interesting artifacts from the lives of past generations of Muscovites,” concluded Sergei Sobyanin.

Since its launch in October 2021, passengers have made almost 2.3 million trips. We continue to develop public transport throughout the capital, as instructed by Sergei Sobyanin,” the deputy mayor added.

The first buses of the “On the Way” service appeared in 2021 in TiNAO, and at the end of 2022 they began to operate on the territory of the Skolkovo Innovation Center.

Thanks to the service, Muscovites can comfortably get to social and cultural institutions, as well as the Prokshino and Buninskaya Alley metro stations and the Shcherbinka, Silikatnaya and Skolkovo stations of the Moscow Central Diameter (MCD). There are over 300 stops in four districts of TiNAO and in Skolkovo.

There are 60 modern small buses on the routes, they are serviced by 145 professional drivers. The transport is equipped with video surveillance, climate control, distance control and emergency braking systems. The cabin has individual lighting, slots for charging gadgets and tables.

You can order a bus to the desired destination via the Moscow Transport app. The fare is the same as on city transport when paying with a bank card. Schoolchildren, students and pensioners can take advantage of the discounted fare with the Muscovite card.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Trams to return to Riga Square after 30-year break

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

The final stage of work to restore tram service on Trifonovskaya Street is underway in Moscow. Construction of a tram reversal loop has begun on Rizhskaya Square.

The project will include laying more than 400 meters of new tracks on the section of Gilyarovsky Street between Trifonovskaya Street and Rizhskaya Square, and constructing a turnaround loop for trams at the entrance to the Rizhskaya station of the Big Circle Line of the metro. The stop here will provide a convenient transfer to the metro, Moscow Central Diameters and ground transportation. Today, the work to restore the tram line on Trifonovskaya Street is 80 percent complete.

“We are implementing one of the most important projects for the development of tram traffic. The restoration of the line on Trifonovskaya Street will improve transport accessibility for 70 thousand people who live and work in this area. We are expanding the tram network in accordance with the instructions of Sergei Sobyanin,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry

    Maxim Liksutov.

Moscow Metro specialists began restoring the tram line on Trifonovskaya Street in 2024. This section was closed in 1995, and 30 years later, in 2025, trams will return to Rizhskaya Square. The new line will connect the large transport hub Rizhskaya with the Russian University of Transport (MIIT) and key points in the city center.

Development of the Moscow tram network

The tram network in the capital continues to develop actively. In September 2024 a new line has opened on Sergius of Radonezh Street, and in April of this year after a large-scale reconstruction it worked updated depot named after P.L. Apakova on Shabolovka.

The total length of tram tracks in the capital is about 430 kilometers (including depots), with 82 percent of them separated from highways or laid on a separate track. This has reduced delays due to traffic accidents on the tracks and increased the reliability of traffic. The Moscow tram network covers 86 districts – over 5.5 million people live near stops.

There are 35 routes in the city. Passengers make more than 750 thousand trips daily. In the coming years, further expansion of the network is planned, including the construction of a new line on Academician Sakharov Avenue – from Komsomolskaya Square to Chistoprudny Boulevard. This line will create a direct connection between the Three Stations Square and Chistoprudny Boulevard, and will also connect the east of the city with the center, south and southwest with new diametric tram routes.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: A multi-purpose field for football and rugby is being built at the Metallurg stadium

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

A universal heated playing field is being installed at the Metallurg stadium. This was reported by the City Facilities Complex. It will be possible to play rugby and football there. This will expand the training opportunities for students of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, for whom the stadium has become a home arena. The work is being carried out as part of the reconstruction of the historical site. The main task is to turn the stadium into a modern and multifunctional sports area that will meet current standards and requirements.

The old football pitch has already been dismantled. Work is underway to install a sports lighting system and prepare the foundation for the circular running tracks. A layer of sand has already been laid and compacted for the multi-purpose arena, and a drainage system has been installed. Then large crushed stone was poured onto the sand and compacted, then another layer of sand, in which the heating system pipes are laid. At the same time, two layers of smaller crushed stone are being compacted using a vibratory roller, and then a special artificial grass surface will be laid.

The total size of the new universal playing field will be over nine thousand square meters — 2.6 thousand more than the previous one. Due to which it can be used for two sports. Using special markings, a zone for playing football will be allocated (its size will be 68 by 95 meters), and the rugby area will occupy an area of over 8.1 thousand square meters. In addition, mobile football goals will be installed to quickly transform the field for different sports, which are easy to remove.

Reconstruction of Metallurg Stadium to be Completed in 2025 — Moscow Mayor

Since the requirements for the finishing surface for both sports are the same, artificial turf will be used. A cushioning layer will be laid underneath it, which will reduce the possibility of injury during a rugby game. Artificial grass is easy to maintain and operate. To ensure the thickness, density and stability of the pile, it will be sprinkled with sand and combed so that it settles. The next layer will be laid in the same way with fine rubber crumb – it will create an additional cushioning layer and help reduce impact loads. In addition, to maintain the playing characteristics of the artificial turf in the cold season, a system of heating pipes is provided – it will be possible to play even in winter.

A 610-seat stand with a canopy will be installed next to the universal arena. It will be connected to the administrative and household complex, which has already begun to be built. It will be convenient to follow the progress of the matches on a special scoreboard. Eight running tracks will be laid around the playing field, and the same number will appear on the side of the stand for short-distance training. It will be possible to conduct training in the evening: four 35-meter sports masts with 22 floodlights in each will be installed on the field.

Projects to create a comfortable urban environment, implemented in the capital, correspond to the goals and objectives of the national project “Infrastructure for life”.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Moscow doctors have begun using the latest robotic orthopedist in endoprosthetics

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

The City Clinical Hospital (CCH) No. 31 named after Academician G.M. Savelyeva has begun using the latest robotic surgical system Cori for knee joint endoprosthetics operations. This was reported by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

“Moscow continues to strengthen its position as one of the leaders in the implementation of robotic technologies in medicine to provide residents with access to the most modern treatment methods. Today, doctors use Da Vinci robotic systems for minimally invasive surgeries, the latest navigation systems, artificial intelligence technologies for diagnostics and other advanced solutions. These developments do not replace the doctor, but become his assistant – they allow planning interventions with maximum accuracy, carrying out complex manipulations and monitoring their effectiveness in real time. The arsenal of doctors is constantly replenished with new technologies. Thus, City Clinical Hospital No. 31 named after Academician Savelyeva introduced the CORI robotic system into clinical practice. The hospital is among the country’s leaders in robotic endoprosthetics of large joints. With the help of the new complex, doctors performed more than 30 operations, traumatologists note its accuracy and safety. In total, in 2024, the hospital performed over 300 successful joint replacement operations using robotic technologies,” said Anastasia Rakova.

Cori is one of the most compact robotic systems in orthopaedics: its main part fits in the surgeon’s hand and is used for precision removal of damaged cartilage.

The device is equipped with an intelligent navigation station, which in real time creates a three-dimensional model of the knee joint anatomy, analyzes the condition of the ligaments and other structures. These functions allow surgeons to achieve better positioning of the endoprosthesis and correctly balance the knee joint, which is extremely important for the normal functioning of the limb.

City Clinical Hospital No. 31 named after Academician G. M. Savelyeva is one of the leading multidisciplinary clinics in the capital. In April 2024, a new traumatology building with 110 beds was opened here, where a full cycle of care is provided – from diagnostics to high-tech operations and early rehabilitation. Most interventions are performed in a minimally invasive manner and using robotic technologies, which reduces the recovery time of patients to four days in hospital.

On April 1, 2025, the hospital celebrated its 55th anniversary. Over the years of its existence, the institution has become one of the recognized flagships of the capital’s medicine.

VILNIUS, May 20 (Xinhua) — More than half of Lithuanians said they do not trust Washington’s mediation efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict, according to a survey conducted by the Vilmorus public opinion and market research center commissioned by BNS.

As reported by BNS on Monday, 52.3 percent of respondents completely or somewhat distrust the role of the United States in peace talks. Only 23.3 percent expressed complete or some confidence in Washington’s mediation efforts.

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lithuanian Seimas, a member of the Social Democratic Party, Remigijus Motuzas, explained the growing skepticism by unmet public expectations. “It is clear that Lithuanians hoped for faster actions and results. It was promised that the war would end within 100 days, then we heard that there would be negotiations, and so on. The latest negotiations in Istanbul, for example, did not live up to these hopes and increased mistrust,” he noted.

Ukraine’s supporters were further disappointed in March when, following a public confrontation between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, Washington suspended military aid to Kyiv.

In addition, the Global Democracy Perception Index 2025, released this week, showed a decline in the global status of the United States. According to BNS, the share of countries where the United States is viewed more positively than negatively has fallen from 76 percent to 45 percent. –0–

TEHRAN, May 20 (Xinhua) — Uranium enrichment in Iran is non-negotiable, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said at a weekly press conference on Monday, commenting on the remarks by U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East Steven Witkoff.

“We have one very, very clear red line and that is enrichment, and we cannot allow [Iran] to have even one percent of the enrichment capability,” he said in an interview with the American television channel ABC News on Sunday.

“We are not asking anyone for permission to enrich uranium on Iranian territory, and the United States is not in a position to give or not give permission to any country with respect to this right provided for in the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT),” said E. Baghaei.

To claim that any country that wants to enrich uranium has non-peaceful purposes is a “deliberate misconception” aimed at distorting public opinion, he stressed. “There are states that enrich uranium but do not possess nuclear weapons,” the diplomat added.

After each round of indirect talks with the US, Iran “feels that progress has been made and we at least understand each other’s points of view, but unfortunately, upon arrival in Washington, the American side expresses different positions,” noted E. Baghaei. –0–

They will play it and learn to program,” said Anastasia Starostinskaya, vice president of the Association of Participants of Technological Circles and head of the project office of the National Cyber-Physical Platform “Berloga”.

Let us recall that the current festival-fair is the fifth such event in China. And for the second time, REC is organizing it on the sidelines of the Harbin International Trade and Economic Fair. The event also saw the opening of a Made in Russia retail store in Harbin.

Since the beginning of 2024, REC has already held four Made in Russia festivals and fairs in China. In anticipation of the 2024 Spring Festival, the first fair was held in the cities of Shenyang and Dalian in Liaoning Province /Northeast China/. The second event took place in May in Harbin. The third fair was held in November in Chengdu /the administrative center of Sichuan Province, Southwest China/. The fourth fair was held in Shenyang in January 2025.

According to V. Nikishina, the Made in Russia festivals and fairs demonstrate very significant effects. “To consolidate the fundamental steps towards increasing sales, today we are developing, together with our Chinese partners, a trade infrastructure for promoting Russian products under our national brand. We are opening national expositions, trade missions, permanent offline and online trade points,” she added.

“We opened the first warehouse distribution center in Suifenhe, Heilongjiang Province, with an area of over 4,500 square meters, to supply and continuously provide the Made in Russia retail chain with original and high-quality Russian products,” explained V. Nikishina, noting that the Chinese market is one of the most important and promising in the world for the extensive development of the national brand.

According to her information, currently more than 2.5 thousand product items are available for Chinese buyers on 10 popular electronic trading platforms. It is in China that the widest distribution network of national “Made in Russia” stores is located, sales of which by the end of 2024 increased by 250% compared to the previous year.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: WHA’s rejection of Taiwan proposals reflects international consensus: State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokesman

BEIJING, May 20 (Xinhua) — Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said Monday that the recent decision made at the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) once again proved that the one-China principle is the universal consensus of the international community.

Chen Binhua made the remarks at a press conference in response to the decision by the WHA, the highest decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO), not to include a proposal related to Taiwan on its agenda.

Noting that the international community’s commitment to the one-China principle as a basic norm cannot be wavered, Chen Binhua stressed that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration’s stubborn separatist stance has led to the disappearance of the political basis for the Taiwan region’s participation in the WHA.

Thus, the DPP’s attempts to push through the so-called Taiwan proposal run counter to the consensus of the international community and were doomed to fail again, Chen Binhua said.

Although Taiwan is not a member of the WHA, the Taiwan region has unimpeded channels to participate in WHO technical communication and cooperation, as well as effective ways to receive emergency information and public health assistance. The health rights of Taiwan compatriots are effectively protected, Chen Binhua said.

However, the DPP administration colluded with external forces to maliciously distort and challenge the fundamental principle established by UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and WHA Resolution 25.1. Such actions challenge not only China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also international justice and universal consensus, as well as the post-war international order, Chen Binhua stated.

He warned that any separatist provocations by the DPP would be rebuffed and any attempts to collude with external forces in pursuit of “Tayavne independence” would inevitably fail.

SANAA, May 20 (Xinhua) — Yemen’s Houthis have announced a campaign against Israel’s Haifa port in response to Israel’s ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip and blockade of the enclave.

“We will impose a naval blockade on the port of Haifa,” Houthi spokesman Yahya Saria said on the rebel-controlled Al-Masirah TV channel.

“All companies with ships present in the port of Haifa or heading to it must take into account the contents of this statement and what will be announced later,” he said, adding that “all our measures and decisions related to the Israeli enemy will cease as soon as the aggression against Gaza stops and the blockade is lifted.”

On Sunday, the Houthis said they would carry out military operations within hours against Ben Gurion Airport and other unnamed Israeli airports.

The Houthis began attacking Israel with missiles and drones in November 2023, declaring solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza. They also attack Israeli-linked commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

Saria’s statement followed a ceasefire between Yemeni rebels and the United States brokered by Oman. The Houthis agreed to suspend attacks on U.S. ships in the Red Sea in exchange for an end to U.S. airstrikes on their positions. -0-
