  • MIL-OSI Russia: With the support of Rosneft, Reindeer Herders’ Day was celebrated in Taimyr

    RN-Vankor (part of the Rosneft oil and gas complex) acted as the general partner of the main holiday of the indigenous peoples of the North – Reindeer Herders’ Day in the Taimyr village of Nosok. The event became the key cultural event of the already traditional EcoArctic forum, held in Krasnoyarsk Krai – the territory of the implementation of the flagship project of the Company Vostok Oil.

    The most spectacular part of the festival was the reindeer sled race. More than 300 participants competed for the title of the fastest musher in men’s, women’s and youth races.

    The indigenous people took part in northern competitions: jumping over sleds, pulling a stick and throwing a maut on a khorey (a lasso is thrown onto a long pole used to drive reindeer). The ethnic site also hosted a national clothing competition, women presented northern cuisine dishes made from fish and reindeer meat, and arts and crafts. The winners of all competitions received gifts from the oil workers.

    The event ended with a large festive concert with the participation of local creative groups.

    More than 1.5 thousand people live in the village of Nosok, of which almost 90% are representatives of indigenous peoples leading a nomadic lifestyle. Preservation of the national culture and traditional way of life of the indigenous peoples of the North is one of the significant areas of Rosneft’s social policy.

    Oil workers build housing for the indigenous population, develop the infrastructure of northern villages, help families of reindeer herders, improve the material and technical base of educational institutions, social facilities and healthcare institutions in the areas of traditional residence of the indigenous peoples of the North.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Rosneft Plants Maple Alley on Russia’s Main Heights

    “VNIKTIneftekhimoborudovaniye” (part of the scientific and design block of “Rosneft”) took part in the landscaping of the slope of Mamayev Kurgan, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Employees of the Volgograd institute prepared the territory of the future alley and planted 80 silver maple seedlings.

    One of the symbols of the Victory and the price paid for it by the Soviet people is the unconquered Stalingrad and the world-famous memorial complex “To the Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad” on Mamayev Kurgan. Paying tribute to all the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, the participants of the event honored the memory of the fallen soldiers in the Hall of Military Glory.

    For many years, the institute’s staff has been engaged in the improvement and landscaping of the memorial complex’s territory; the very first seedlings were planted back in 1967, the year the monument ensemble was opened.

    The memory of such events is passed down from generation to generation: the first landing was attended by employees whose children, continuing the dynasty of workers and established traditions, participate in commemorative events today.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: An impeller was manufactured at the Polytechnic University using additive technologies

    Scientists from the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University have proposed a new approach to the production of centrifugal compressor wheels (impellers) using electric arc growing technology. Until now, no one in the world has used additive technologies to produce such large items. At the same time, the new method allows for the production of parts several times faster and cheaper than the traditional method.

    Impellers are a whole class of products that can be part of a centrifugal compressor, pumping unit or pump. Such devices are necessary for many industries, but are especially relevant in the energy sector – for moving gas through main gas pipelines. The traditional method of manufacturing impellers – mechanical processing of metal blanks – is quite long and expensive.

    The Polytechnic University proposed using electric arc growing from metal wire, which melts due to the energy of the electric arc, to manufacture the impeller. During the melting process, the metal is transferred layer by layer, forming the product blank. Its strength is affected by a verified combination of movement speed during growing, as well as the wire feed speed, arc power, wire metal composition, etc.

    With the traditional manufacturing method, the mass of the workpiece is seven times greater than the mass of the final part. Engineers mechanically process the metal like an artist who carves a sculpture from a piece of marble. In this case, most of the metal (86% of the mass of the original workpiece) turns into shavings, this is a long and expensive process. Our technology allows us to obtain a workpiece that is only 15% greater in mass than the final product, i.e. the material utilization factor (MUF) is 0.86. With the traditional method, the MUF is 0.14. We significantly save expensive material, and at the same time speed up the process of manufacturing the impeller several times, – said Oleg Panchenko, Head of the Laboratory of Light Materials and Structures of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Transport of SPbPU.

    The sample manufactured in the Polytechnic laboratory successfully passed a series of bench tests, the conditions of which were similar to operational ones. The impeller was spun up to 18 thousand revolutions per minute.

    After the tests, we scanned the impeller and compared it with the three-dimensional model that was used to prepare the control program for printing. The comparison did not reveal any deviations in the geometry of the tested impeller from the digital model. This means that the approach we proposed allows us to create a reliable product, explained Ivan Kladov, Lead Engineer at the Laboratory of Light Materials and Structures at IMMiT.

    Experts note that the technology developed at the Polytechnic University can be used to manufacture impellers on existing Russian production lines and will not require their significant restructuring.

    The study was conducted with the support of the Development Program of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for 2025–2036 as part of the implementation of the Priority 2030 program (national project Youth and Children).

    The third annual Soft Skills tournament was held at the Polytechnic University. Students demonstrated soft skills by participating in board games.

    At the current stage of transformation of the higher education system, the formation of flexible skills is an important component of training specialists capable of ensuring the achievement of technological leadership of our state, emphasized the Vice-Rector for Educational Activities of SPbPU Lyudmila Pankova.

    The organizing committee and jury included university teachers and activists of the SPbPU Students’ Trade Union, as well as representatives of the organizations and companies “Russia – Country of Opportunities”, “TGK-1”, “Gazprom Gazifikatsiya”, “Gazprom Pitanie”, “Lengidroproekt”, “VNIIG im. B. E. Vedeneyev”. Support was provided by well-known board game publishers GaGa.ru and “Lavka Igr”, their game masters helped the participants and the jury understand the rules and taught them how to get out of difficult situations.

    Seventeen student teams made it to the first round: six from the Institute of Power Engineering, five from the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade, one team each from the Humanitarian Institute, the Civil Engineering Institute and the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Transport, as well as three teams — IPMET, ISI, IKNK, IMMiT. A student from the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation participated in the tournament for the first time.

    The students spent a whole month preparing for the tournament stages and fighting for victory at the gaming table. In the end, four teams reached the final. The awards were presented by the chairman of the jury, director of the Higher School of Software Engineering Pavel Drobintsev.

    In the team standings, the places were distributed as follows:

    1st place — team “Ь” (soft sign) (IPMET); 2nd place — team “Burryashchie Brazgi” (team of IPMET, IMMIT, ISI, GUAP); 3rd place — team “Successors of Peter” (IMMIT).

    The team “SOVpadenie” (IPMET) fell just short of victory and took 4th place.

    In the individual competition the following were awarded:

    1st place — Vlada Chernyaeva, IPMET; 2nd place — Alexander Shevchuk, ISI; 3rd place — Daniil Grevtsev, IMMIT.

    The members of the jury and the organizing committee highly appreciated the organization of the tournament, noted the involvement and good level of development of the participants’ cross-professional competencies.

    The Soft Skills tournament for students is a great tool for developing cross-professional competencies. During the game, the kids practice communication, learning to clearly express thoughts, formulate precise questions and negotiate with each other. They learn to analyze information, develop strategies and make decisions in conditions of limited resources. Team games improve both leadership qualities and the ability to work in partnership with other team members, because victory often depends on the coherence of actions and the distribution of roles. In addition, games create conditions for understanding one’s strengths and personal growth points. This training format is a safe environment for mistakes, live feedback from the environment and, most importantly, motivation to develop through pleasure. Young specialists get practice in a game form and can then transfer it to work, – noted the head of the Analytics and Diagnostic Tools Development Department of the Assessment and Methodology Department of ANO “Russia – Country of Opportunities” Ekaterina Stepashkina.

    I was greatly impressed by the ease with which the participants understood the complex rules and their prompt response to changes that arose during the game. The speed of change in the modern world is only growing, and the ability to quickly accept them is one of the most important “soft skills”. I wish the participants to apply this in real life, which throws up many more surprises than any game, – said Evgeniya Tyupanova, Head of the Labor and Wages Department at Gazprom Gazifikatsiya, who took part in the tournament for the first time as a member of the organizing committee and jury.

    Anna Lavrova, head of the personnel selection and assessment group at TGK-1, has been a permanent member of the jury since the tournament was founded. She emphasized that young specialists with the qualities that students demonstrate at the Soft Skills tournament will be in demand in any company, and confirmed that TGK-1 is always happy to welcome students from the Polytechnic University.

    Leading specialists of the social development department of Gazprom Pitanie Ilya Khudov and Anna Konevskaya, as well as leading specialist of the personnel department of VNIIG im. B. E. Vedeneyev Alla Larchina noted that gaming technologies helped the children to reveal a whole range of soft skills and allowed them to see their potential.

    The modern world requires not only professional knowledge, but also the ability to adapt, think critically and work in a team. The Soft Skills tournament is a mirror that reflects the future. Here, students learn to listen, make decisions in conditions of uncertainty and turn challenges into opportunities. I am amazed by their energy and willingness to grow.     The fame of the orchestra of future engineers Ingenium is thundering. In April alone, it became a laureate of the first degree in two competitions, conquered applicants and their parents at the Open Day of the Polytechnic University and performed a big concert in the White Hall.

    The Variety Symphony Orchestra became the successor of the symphony orchestra created by the first director of the Polytechnic Institute, Prince Andrei Grigorievich Gagarin, in 1907. But if at the beginning of the 20th century professional musicians also played in it, today the orchestra unites only Polytechnic students, graduates and, sometimes, applicants. There is only one professional musician in the group – the artistic director and chief conductor Dmitry MisyuraThe second conductor is Pavel Zhukov, a graduate of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Transport of SPbPU.

    Despite the fact that music is a hobby of future engineers, their creative activity is growing exponentially. In early April, the orchestra became a first-degree laureate of the IV International Arts Competition and Prize “Embodiment of Mastery”. And in late April, the musicians presented Polytechnic University with first place in the Student Spring festival, the most significant annual creative competition of student groups from all universities in the North-West region of the country. The Polytechnicians won an unconditional victory among student orchestras and ensembles, leaving behind orchestras from ITMO, RSPU, SPbGIKiT, VKA Mozhaisky and other universities in the face-to-face competition.

    The victory of our orchestra in the “Student Spring-2025” is quite natural, because the guys study a lot, and their performance level is constantly growing. Their great desire to play as part of the orchestra is important. The zeal with which future engineers come to rehearsals causes sincere admiration and certainly affects the quality of concert performances, – Dmitry Misyura is sure.

    Today, the orchestra is capable of giving two concerts a day, as it did on April 27. During the day, Polytechnic students surprised potential Polytechnic students and their parents at the Open Day, and in the evening they gave a big solo concert in the White Hall. Moreover, all tickets were sold out two weeks before the event: getting to see the orchestra of future engineers is more luck, many want to hear this “oddity” in the scientific and musical world.

    The orchestra, which has been playing in the new history of the university for more than ten years, recently acquired a special name – Ingenium. This Latin word has two roots and two meanings: an engineer capable of inventing, and a genius. This name is justified by the members of the group – SPbPU students, musically gifted and creatively thinking future engineers.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: From idea to tradition: the student physics olympiad was held at the Polytechnic for the tenth time

    On the last Saturday of April, the Polytechnic University hosted the tenth anniversary student physics olympiad.

    The idea of holding a physics olympiad at SPbPU arose in 2015. By that time, experience had been accumulated in participating in such competitions – since the early 2000s, Polytechnic students had participated in the inter-university physics olympiad. It was held in September, and preparations began in advance – teachers from the physics and technology faculty (now the physics department) worked specifically with the students. As a result, the Polytechnic students confidently performed at each olympiad, taking prizes.

    Professor Yuri Mamaev, scientific director of the physics practical laboratory, associate professor Sergei Starovoitov, and associate professor Tatyana Vorobyeva made a great contribution to the Olympiad movement at the Physics Department, including the emergence of their own Olympiad at the Polytechnic University.

    In 2015, together with Mikhail Voronov, a research fellow at the Physics and Technology Institute, the team of organizers began organizing the Olympiad at the Polytechnic, selecting tasks and criteria for their evaluation. The preparation of student participants was carried out at an optional club. The head of the department, Vadim Ivanov, helped with the audience, and also provided other organizational assistance.

    And so, 10 years ago, on the last Saturday of April 2015, the first student Olympiad in Physics took place. More than a hundred people took part in the competition. The winners from the department were awarded books – dictionaries and encyclopedias on physics.

    According to the rules, the participants of the competition could only use reference books on physics and mathematics. This tradition has been preserved to this day: the use of textbooks or notes is not allowed. Although this will not help the participants much, since solving the Olympiad problems requires systematic knowledge and understanding of physical laws. To the question: “Is it possible to cheat at the Olympiad?” Sergey Starovoytov answers with a smile: All Olympiad problems are author’s, so it is impossible to find their solution on the Internet.

    The authors of the problems are a group of young teachers and postgraduate students of the Department of Physics, who develop unique problems from the physics course that require an original solution. A careful approach to the selection of tasks allows us to create conditions for equal and fair participation in the competition. A team is formed from among the SPbPU students who successfully performed at the Physics Olympiad for subsequent participation in the Interuniversity Physics Olympiad. It is prepared by a senior teacher of the Department of Physics Vadim Kozhevnikov.

    The solution to each problem is presented by the authors-developers after the end of the Olympiad. Not only participants, but also anyone who wishes can attend the event with the analysis of the problems.

    The Olympiad is open to everyone, so there is a special atmosphere here: not so much a rivalry as a celebration of knowledge and science! This idea is confirmed by the feedback from the participants of the tenth anniversary Olympiad.

    Students of the Institute of Marketing of the State University of Management visited the Cryptography Museum. The event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

    Cryptography is a science of information protection methods, the evolution of which the museum tells through the history of communications development. The expression “intelligence enters the war first” exhaustively characterizes the role of intelligence agencies of any state in wars. The main task that the Soviet leadership set for foreign intelligence was to identify the military-political plans of Germany and its allies during the war. Another key task was the organization and use of special operational detachments in the enemy’s rear to carry out reconnaissance and sabotage activities, as well as to assist party and Soviet agencies in developing the partisan movement. Various means were used to solve intelligence and counterintelligence tasks, including radio games. In some periods, state security officers played up to seventy radio games with the enemy simultaneously.

    Many of the groundbreaking papers in artificial intelligence were written by people who worked in cryptography and cryptanalysis during World War II. Random sequences of numbers are used as encryption keys for one-time pads, an unbreakable encryption system. The names of people whose work involves protecting state secrets often remain classified for years, sometimes decades. Cryptographers, cryptanalysts, and encryption developers are among them.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: NSU became the only university beyond the Urals to receive government support for training specialists in the field of AI

    The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation together with the ANO “Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation” completed the competitive selection of universities that will train highly qualified specialists in the field of artificial intelligence until 2030. Grant support is provided in the form of subsidies from the federal budget, an essential condition is co-financing from industrial partners in the amount of at least 30%. NSU was included in the list of winners, taking fourth place in the ranking of universities, and became the only university beyond the Urals to receive support.

    Grant support will be provided for the development and implementation of a new bachelor’s degree program in “Applied Artificial Intelligence” in Institute of Intelligent Robotics NSU, admission to study will begin this academic year. The first intake will consist of at least 150 students.

    — One of the key research areas that will be developed on the basis of infrastructure modern campus of NSU, being built within the framework of the national project “Youth and Children”, is the theme “Advanced areas of applied mathematics: artificial intelligence and big data processing, applied engineering”. The new educational program was developed to solve technological problems of the new direction.     The Institute of Intelligent Robotics is the youngest educational division of NSU, where the number of undergraduate students in the Mechatronics and Robotics. Artificial Intelligence program has grown more than 7 times in 5 years, including due to foreign students. In 2024, according to the results of the university ranking for the quality of training specialists in the field of artificial intelligence, NSU became the leader among universities in the Siberian Federal District and entered the top 15 best universities in the country.

    — The grant competition was aimed at supporting the best Russian universities with strong educational programs in the field of AI and great potential for training new-level personnel. The high final score of the NSU application, which was prepared jointly by the Institute of Intelligent Robotics and Research Center in the field of artificial intelligence of NSU, confirms the significant potential of the university for training personnel to ensure technological leadership of the country.     The key feature of the training is the focus on the practical application of AI and solving real problems from industrial partners, who provide co-financing of educational programs in the amount of at least 30% of the grant amount. We have been cooperating with Rostelecom for over a year within the framework of the NSU Artificial Intelligence Center. Among the main joint projects are the development of an intelligent system for managing urban transport flows, a security system, etc. The second company that supported our initiative is T1 Innotech. This is a large company working in the field of IT and AI, our new partner, with whom we are just starting to work. Thanks to such cooperation, the educational program will be focused on the needs of the market and solving the problems of the modern AI industry.   • MIL-OSI Russia: Best goalkeeper and bronze medals: GUU victories at the XI All-Russian Championship of Russia in hockey

    From April 22 to 27, 2025, the GUU hockey team participated in the Student Hockey League Championship, held in St. Petersburg.

    Our hockey players played a total of 12 games in 6 days. This year, 16 of the strongest student hockey teams from 11 subjects of the Russian Federation competed for the title of champion of the Championship.

    Following the draw, HC GUU met three teams from Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg in the group stage. Having lost one match to Spartak RANEPA SPB in overtime with a score of 2:1, our hockey players entered the playoffs from the second line of the tournament table.

    In the quarterfinals of the main tournament, the GUU team faced a serious opponent – the current champions of the Championship “Black Bears – Polytech SPB”: the walls of their home arena helped the “bears” defeat our team, thereby sending the guys to play the tournament for the small cup of the Russian Championship in the 3×3 format.

    The group stage of the small cup took place in one day – our team played 5 matches in a row and again secured the second place in the tournament table. Based on the results of the second group matches, the opponent for the 1/4 finals was determined – “Nevskie Lviv SPB”, into whose gates our hockey players scored 5 goals and won with a score of 5:3. In the battle for a ticket to the final, the GUU team, unfortunately, suffered a defeat from the team from Orel and was forced to fight for bronze medals with the “Black Foxes” from Surgut.

    The magic of numbers in the 3×3 tournament was on our side and HC GUU won a confident victory with a score of 5:2 in the final match for bronze!

    The best player of the tournament was recognized as the goalkeeper of GUU Roman Shiryaev – it was he who received the individual award of the SHL tournament.

    The week was intense and difficult, now our geese are going to win more, because the final matches of the regular championships of the MSHL and NSHL await them in Moscow on the weekend.

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Symbol of the Unconquered Spirit: 80 Years Since the Raising of the Victory Banner over the Reichstag

    On April 30, 1945, several banners and flags of various units of the Red Army were installed over the Reichstag building in Berlin. But the Banner of Victory is considered to be a specially made cloth of the 150th Rifle Order of Kutuzov, 2nd degree, Idritskaya Division of the 79th Rifle Corps of the 3rd Shock Army of the 1st Belorussian Front. In accordance with Russian law, this banner is a symbol of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and a state relic.

    The Reichstag had also long had a more symbolic meaning in 1945. After the National Socialist German Workers’ Party came to power in Germany in 1933 and the building was set on fire, government meetings were no longer held there, and the plenary hall was not even repaired. In 1941, the windows were walled up, the basements became a bomb shelter, and anti-aircraft guns were installed in the corner towers. Nevertheless, for the Germans, the building remained one of the symbols of statehood. And the Soviet troops needed the final goal of their victorious campaign in the form of a real object. With the approval of Joseph Stalin, the Reichstag building was chosen as such a goal.

    Given the circumstances, the Reichstag was defended by elite SS units, not only Germans, but also Swedes, Norwegians, and Latvians. And the building was stormed by the most experienced Red Army guards. Due to the ferocity of the battles and the contradictory reports, it is difficult to reliably determine who was the first to raise the flag over the Reichstag. In addition to the nine flags specially made for this purpose, many went into battle with homemade flags. According to various sources, there were from 20 to 40 of them. Recently, it has been accepted that on the afternoon of April 30, the fighters of the 150th Rifle Division, Lieutenant Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev and Private Grigory Bulatov, were in the lead. Later, two more flags were raised. Noticing this, the Germans began shelling the building and, having broken the glass dome, managed to destroy all three flags.

    Late in the evening of April 30 (already May 1 Moscow time), Junior Lieutenant Meliton Kantaria and Private Mikhail Egorov from the same 150th Rifle Division managed to install the banner on the eastern facade of the building, where it could not be reached by enemy artillery. It was this flag that became the Victory Banner. On May 2, after the capitulation of the Berlin garrison, the same soldiers were ordered to move the banner to the dome of the Reichstag. A few days later, for the sake of safety, the banner was removed, and on June 20 it was transported by plane to Moscow, where it was transferred for permanent storage to the Central Museum of the Armed Forces.

    Thus, both the actual and symbolic victory over Germany was achieved at the very beginning of May. All that remained was to confirm it legally.

    The exhibition presents the stories of people who directly participated in military actions or were engaged in scientific activities and made a tangible contribution to the victory of the people of the Soviet Union over fascist Germany. In total, the exhibition contains 126 portraits. Until May 23, the exhibition can be seen in the second-floor passage between the first and third blocks of the NSU Academic Building (1 Pirogova St.).

    — Of course, there are academicians here. For example, Mikhail Alekseevich Lavrentyev, Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of the Lenin and State (Stalin) Prizes. He received some of these awards for his scientific contribution to the people’s victory. He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, Second Class, and five Orders of Lenin. His research and the cumulative shells he developed played a major role and influenced the outcome of the Battle of Kursk in 1943. Among the veterans, those people who made a significant contribution, there are many researchers. For example, Aleksey Andreyevich Lyapunov, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He was a very young lieutenant when, during offensive battles in the area of the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly, he made an adjustment for magnetic deviation in the artillery calculation, which ensured the success of the artillery preparation, — said Lidiya Vorobtsova, Director of the NSU History Museum.

    Another participant in the war was Samson Semenovich Kutateladze, an academician, founder of one of the leading scientific schools in thermal physics and hydrodynamics. He was at the front from August 1941 to May 1945. The legendary rector of NSU Spartak Timofeevich Belyaev, an academician, professor, has many awards, he went through the entire war and was demobilized with the rank of junior lieutenant.

    The exhibition presents stories not only of outstanding scientists and academicians, but also of those people who worked and taught at NSU. For example, Angelina Ivanovna Kuzmina is a linguist and participant in the Great Patriotic War.

    — I personally remember her very well. When I was studying at the Humanities Department, in the late 1970s — early 1980s, Angelina Ivanovna taught us German. She went through almost the entire war from the spring of 1942 until its end. She was a telegraph operator, a radio operator, and a communications platoon commander, and also worked as a translator during this period. She was a unique person, a candidate of philological sciences, an associate professor at our university. A very charming and positive-minded woman, — recalls Lidiya Vorobtsova.

    Luiza Stefanovna Bocharova is a candidate of economic sciences, a senior lecturer, and later an associate professor of the political economy department of our university. She worked in counterintelligence at the headquarters of the 2nd Air Army of the Southwestern Front, and later the 1st Ukrainian Front.

    The exhibition also features a portrait and history of Lev Yakovlevich Savelyev, a professor at the NSU Department of Higher Mathematics and a participant in the Great Patriotic War. Lev Yakovlevich was born in 1929 in Odessa. At the age of 14, he volunteered for the Red Army, and in a short period of time, he received the qualification of “3rd class radio operator-telegraphist” and the military rank of “corporal” at radio operator courses. After demobilization in August 1945, Lev Yakovlevich continued his studies at school, and two years later he became a student at the Mathematics Department of Moscow State University. After graduating from Moscow State University, he came to Novosibirsk, where NSU had just opened. He taught courses in mathematical and functional analysis, probability theory and mathematical statistics, random processes, and many others.

    We can literally talk for a very long time about each “hero” of the exhibition, because each one made their own contribution to the Victory.

    — I think that students, teachers, and staff will be very pleased to see and read about the people who are presented at the exhibition. In addition, we have two special pages on the website of the NSU History Museum. One is also dedicated to the participants of the Great Patriotic War, and the second page is called “War Participants Remember,” that is, these are memories of the war years. You can always go to the website of our museum and get to know them. The heroes of these stories describe their time and how they, still very young guys, many just after finishing school, went to war. Some left universities, some just graduated from university and went to the front at that time. Recently, we had an exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the oldest professors of the Humanities Institute, then the Humanities Faculty, Varlen Lvovich Soskin. In the exposition, we presented more extensive information about the period when he was at war. Overall, we have war photographs of about half of the war participants, so there is something to look at and appreciate, to be proud of those people who taught and worked at our university, and those thanks to whom we are now celebrating this wonderful holiday, Victory Day, – summed up Lidiya Vorobtsova.

    The exhibition materials were collected from several sources. These include materials from the NSU History Museum, personal files from the NSU archive, written memoirs of combatants, and photographs of the “Victory Relay” that took place in 2010. At one time, for the 30th anniversary of the Victory in 1975, a large stand was displayed on the wall near the Maltsevskaya Auditorium, which is located in the main, historical building of NSU, where about 70 war veterans were presented. The NSU History Museum supplemented this information over time. In addition to the materials from the 1970-80s exhibitions, the Museum staff analyzed reference publications for the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, which also mention the stories of Siberian front-line soldiers. The NSU Social Management Department, which works directly with WWII veterans, helped to fill in some personal stories and also display them along with the portraits at the exhibition.

    Today’s exhibition presents the most complete information on the majority of those people who are associated with Novosibirsk State University and the Siberian Branch of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences and who are direct participants in the Great Patriotic War or contributed to the Victory through their scientific work.

    In addition to portraits and stories of NSU employees, teachers and scientists, the exhibition features a digital panel with documents from the Novosibirsk Regional Archives, which are dedicated to the heroism of Siberians during the Great Patriotic War. The demonstration was organized by Andrey Vladimirovich Dmitriev, head of the Department of Russian History at the NSU Humanities Institute. The exhibition includes three expositions:

    “Breakthrough Division”

    The exhibition is dedicated to the combat path of the 133rd Rifle Division, later the 18th Guards Division, formed before 1941 in Novosibirsk and taking part in many battles of the Great Patriotic War. All this data was collected and prepared by Novosibirsk historians and archivists to justify assigning Novosibirsk the title of “City of Labor Valor” in 2020.

    Deputy Prime Minister Dmytro Chernyshenko, as part of a working visit to the city of Melitopol in the Zaporizhia region, held a meeting with representatives of the 80th Anniversary of Victory volunteer corps and activists of the “Volunteers of Victory” movement at the Youth Center. The event was also attended by the Governor of the Zaporizhia region Yevhen Balitsky.

It is expected that the Spartak stadium will become one of the largest football grounds in Donbass and Novorossiya.

    Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova took part in an extended meeting of the board of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency.

    As Tatyana Golikova noted, the board meeting is being held on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Soviet medicine made a special contribution to the victory. The medical service saved the wounded, provided their treatment, rehabilitation and return to duty. The key role in the fight for life at the front belonged to the blood transfusion service and donation. Over the past 15 years, the Federal Medical and Biological Agency has been responsible for organizing the activities of the blood service in our country.

    In just four years of war, over 7 million blood transfusions were performed. Every day, 300 to 3 thousand people donated blood, mostly women. The active army received over 1.7 million liters of blood. The total number of donors was 5.5 million people.

    “Today, the database, which has been maintained since 2008, contains data on more than 10 million blood donors and 30 million donations. The annual number of blood and blood component donors remains stable at almost 1.5 million people, with 99% of donations being gratuitous,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

    In 2024, a program to modernize blood services in new regions was launched; more than 200 units of equipment, including high-tech equipment, were purchased.

    “Since 2023, on the instructions of the President of the country, the Concept of increasing the procurement of blood plasma for the production of drugs has been implemented. In 2024, the FMBA successfully completed the first stage – 600 tons of plasma were prepared. In 2025, the volume should be at least 780 tons. The task is not easy, but strategically important for the country,” said Tatyana Golikova.

    The Deputy Prime Minister separately noted the development of bone marrow donation.

    “The number of donors in the Federal Bone Marrow Donor Registry increased by 120,000 last year, reaching 438,000 donors. By the end of 2025, the registry should include more than 500,000 donors. The appropriate funding has been allocated to replenish the registry and conduct bone marrow donor typing, the amount of which is 7 times higher than in 2023. I am confident that this will increase the number of studies. More than 67,000 typings should be performed this year. These figures represent saved lives,” she said.

    In the conditions of military actions on the territory of the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, Kursk region, medical workers of the FMBA take direct part in providing medical care to wounded soldiers and civilians, ensure radiation, chemical and biological safety. In Mariupol, there is a multidisciplinary medical center of the FMBA. The second stage of construction is currently underway.

    “The implementation of the national project “Healthcare” was completed in 2024. FMBA allocated more than 9.3 billion rubles for the implementation of its activities. As a result, high-quality infrastructure changes took place in the agency’s system. As part of the modernization of the primary link, 77 facilities were commissioned, 931 units of equipment and 127 vehicles were delivered. As part of the fight against cancer, 12 medical organizations were equipped with 292 units of equipment, including 23 units of heavy equipment. Behind each figure is both the availability and quality of medical care, especially in those settlements where only FMBA institutions are present,” said Tatyana Golikova.

    Since 2025, new national projects have been launched: “Long and Active Life”, “Family”, “New Health Preservation Technologies”, in the implementation of which the FMBA of Russia also takes an active part.

    “By 2030, within the framework of the national project “Long and Active Life”, 148 more primary care facilities will be created and renovated in the FMBA system, more than 2.6 thousand pieces of equipment and 138 vehicles will be purchased. In addition, 16 modern admissions departments using modular designs will be created, oncology centers and federal research centers will be equipped with the necessary equipment. Within the framework of the federal project “Protection of Motherhood and Childhood” of the national project “Family”, 25 women’s consultations, perinatal centers, children’s hospitals will be created and equipped with new equipment. All these measures will improve the quality and accessibility of medical care for our citizens, which is especially important for closed territorial entities, where the agency’s institutions are the only ones,” noted Tatyana Golikova.

    Within the framework of the national project “New technologies for preserving health”, it is planned to increase the share of domestic production of drugs in terms of vital and essential drugs to 90% and in terms of medical products to 40%. Almost 1 billion rubles have been allocated by the FMBA for 6 years to implement the set task.

    “Another task of the agency is to preserve the life and health of people working in extreme conditions and in industries with harmful and hazardous health factors. Today, the FMBA system has a network of 38 comprehensive health centers and digital health centers created over 3 years, located directly at strategic production facilities. This made it possible to reduce the incidence rate by 17% and reduce cases of temporary disability by 23% in 2024,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
