The development of the platform economy, interaction between business and the state, as well as the urgent need to expand regulatory mechanisms were discussed at the plenary session of the international conference Data Fusion with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Government Staff Dmitry Grigorenko.
The session participants noted that large digital platforms are emerging in a variety of industries, from public administration and medicine to trade and transport. At the same time, they have been developing separately for a long time, remaining in the grey zone of the rules and regulations that are familiar to trade and market relations.
“The absence of regulation is not synonymous with freedom. Rather, it means the absence of rules that are clear to all participants in the process. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev held a meeting within the framework of incident No. 55 “Wastewater Treatment Facilities”. The participants of the event also discussed the regulatory legal act being prepared, which will determine the procedure for establishing standards for the maximum permissible concentration of pollutants in water bodies of fishery importance. The fire season has begun in six regions: the Republic of Buryatia, Zabaikalsky, Primorsky and Khabarovsk Krais, Amur Oblast, and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast. A special fire prevention regime has been established in 84 municipal districts. A state of emergency has been introduced in regional forests in Zabaikalsky Krai and a state of emergency in municipal forests in the Republic of Buryatia and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast.
To combat fires, the number of parachute firefighting personnel has been increased in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Zabaykalsky Krai, Khabarovsk Krai and Magadan Oblast. In general, in the Far Eastern Federal District, compared to 2024, the parachute firefighting service has been increased by 352 staff units and now totals 2,227 people. The issues of passing the flood-hazardous period were discussed. In the Far Eastern Federal District, 545 hydroposts are planned to be involved in permanent operational monitoring. Preventive measures are being carried out in preparation for the accident-free passage of spring floods and summer floods, including dredging and bank protection works, clearing and straightening river beds.
Roshydromet and Rosvodresursy have assessed the readiness of the main large reservoirs to receive flood waters and ensure the safe passage of spring floods.
In March, the Russian Emergencies Ministry conducted an inspection of the readiness of the management bodies, forces and means of the functional and territorial subsystems of the unified state system for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations in the subjects of the Far Eastern Federal District for actions as intended during the flood-hazardous period of 2025. Based on the results of the inspection, seven subjects (Kamchatka, Primorsky, Khabarovsk Krais, Amur, Magadan, Sakhalin Oblasts, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug) were recognized as ready for the safe passage of flood waters.
“We hold a meeting every year on the issue of the readiness of the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District for the fire-hazardous season and the flood-hazardous period. Dangerous natural phenomena in the Far East require special attention. Currently, a rather dangerous fire situation has developed in the Zabaikalsky Krai. On the same day, Yuri Trutnev visited the Talaya sanatorium in the village of the same name in the Khasynsky municipal district and held a meeting on the progress of the construction of the power transmission line in the village of Talaya.
The Talaya sanatorium is included in the List of Russian resorts with justification for their uniqueness in terms of natural healing factors, approved by the Russian Ministry of Health. The resort is known for its thermal mineral spring and therapeutic mud, the use of which allows for the treatment of many diseases. The construction, equipment of the treatment base and room stock, as well as the improvement of the sanatorium itself have already been fully completed.
The launch of the resort is entirely dependent on the construction of a high-voltage power line that will connect Talaya to the region’s energy system.

Trump has also suggested using illegal force to achieve his own imperialist ambitions, even against former allies.

Canadians and Europeans understand the American partnership is over.
They’re now processing the implications of America’s apparent democratic collapse for global security.
Does Trump’s stance mean that liberal democracies are now vulnerable to invasions, annexations and theft of natural resources? Yes, it does.

International security scholarship shows that, unless they are deterred, predatory superpowers use force to seize territory and natural resources for the purpose of aggrandizement.
While an invasion of Canada is not imminent, the threats to democratic nations are now fully detectable and predictable.
The responsible time to deter these threats is right now.
Deterrence works when the imposed cost of an action is higher than its expected benefit. That means a hostile power won’t attack Canada if the risks of invasion are higher than the value of seizing our natural resources.
Given that Canada is extremely resource-rich, that’s a challenge.
While the Canadian government can make smart choices on military procurement, there is little any Canadian leader can do to transform the Canadian Armed Forces into a superpower army.
Even if Canada redirected every penny of its budget to defence spending, it could not catch up with American, Russian or Chinese military power. Given this asymmetry, is deterrence possible?
Absolutely.
To get there, Canada must take two big steps: first, adopt a “whole-of-society” defence system to protect the homeland; and second, contribute to a democratic nuclear umbrella.

In “whole-of-society” defence, all citizens play a role in national security and emergency response. This approach requires mandatory military service and nationwide civil defence preparations.
Whole-of-society defence not only improves societal resilience, but it also scares away potential invaders.
Ordinary citizens can in fact defeat superpowers using nothing more than small arms and light weapons. The U.S. and Russia have both been trounced in the past by well-armed resistance movements.
For a power-drunk dictator, whole-of-society defence is a sobering reality check.
The presence of a large, well-armed and well-trained domestic population promises invaders a bloody, expensive and protracted ground war. That means high risks, low rewards, skyrocketing costs and decades-long timelines.
That’s enough to deter a predatory superpower.

Many of Canada’s democratic allies have already embraced whole-of-society defence. Norway, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland all have mandatory military service and civil defence, and sensible gun regulations that allow law-abiding citizens to contribute to national security.
Canada has every reason to adopt the Scandinavian approach to national defence, including mandatory military and civil service and the removal of some restrictions on Canadian firearms. An excellent model to consider is Sweden’s brand new “Total Defence” system.
Norwegians, Finns and Swedes are peaceful people who have learned to survive next to a dangerous superpower. Canadians must look at their own vulnerabilities and see the logic and wisdom behind the Scandinavian approach.
Although the 1968 Non-Proliferation Treaty prohibits nuclear weapons development, the Trump administration’s utter disdain for democratic allies has prompted a global rethink. Trump has demanded NATO countries stop relying on the U.S. military and spend more on their own defence.
Nuclear weapons acquisition complies with his demand.
Germany and Poland have reopened the nuclear debate, but most European democracies lack the materials to develop their own weapons. Instead, they are looking to France and the United Kingdom to create a new European nuclear umbrella.
Some Canadians hope the U.K. and French umbrellas could protect Canada, too.
That’s the wrong mentality.
The U.K. and France have a combined 515 nuclear weapons. Russia has 5,580.
Instead of asking the U.K. and France to further stretch their limited arsenals, Canada could step up and contribute to the solution.
Canada is already a nuclear-threshold state with both the know-how and raw materials to develop a nuclear weapon. It would take time and money, but Canada is in a better position to help than most other European countries.
Once across the nuclear threshold, Canada would have a bulletproof defence of its homeland. It could then work with the U.K. and France as an equal and reliable partner, contributing to a democratic nuclear umbrella to protect vulnerable allies.
This would require formal withdrawal from the Non-Proliferation Treaty, but that action doesn’t need to be provocative or unilateral. Canada could co-ordinate its withdrawal with European allies as part of a collective defence of liberal democracies.
In the face of rising tyranny and superpower conquest, Canada can either choose to be a burden on its overstretched French and British allies or a source of renewed safety for its democratic friends.
Deterrence is hard work, but it is infinitely better than the horrors of invasion.
Mandatory military service and nuclear weapons may be new ideas for Canadians, but other friendly democracies have been using these strategies for decades.
The good news is that successful deterrence means stability and peace, so citizens can relax and carry on with their lives. Canadians want this safety for themselves, and for their allies, too.
The time for Canada to act is now, when threats are foreseeable but not imminent. Waiting until an army amasses at the border is too late.
To deter aggression, Canadians need to step up and be a little more like their Scandinavian, British and French allies. That is the price of continued freedom.

On the instructions of President Vladimir Putin and the Government, a network of world-class university campuses is being created in Russia. In addition to the dormitory, an educational and laboratory building with a total area of more than 27 thousand square meters is also being built on its territory. About 2 thousand students will be able to study in the five-story building. Monolithic work is currently underway at the site,” said Karen Oganesyan, General Director of the Unified Customer in Construction.
The company is also building three more campuses in Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad and Novosibirsk.
Glazing of the academic buildings on the campus of the Ural Federal University has already been completed. The total area of the three buildings – the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center for Senior Schoolchildren, the Institute of Radio Electronics and Information Technology, and the Institute of Economics and Management – is 100,000 square meters. President Zelenskyy, Dear Volodymyr,
It is important for me to be standing next to you today in Odesa, a city that has been under constant attack throughout Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Only this weekend, Russia attacked residential buildings and a hospital here with kamikaze drones. Today we both visited a hospital where I talked with some of the people injured in the war.
Just two days ago, in Sumy on Palm Sunday –the holiest day in the Christian calendar – two Russian ballistic missiles killed over 30 civilians – men, women, children.
Over 100 were injured – many seriously.
This is simply outrageous. It’s part of a terrible pattern of Russia attacking civilian targets and infrastructure across Ukraine. Even hundreds of hospitals and medical workers have been targeted over the last years.
I am here today because I believe Ukraine’s people deserve real peace – real safety and security in their country. In their homes.
My heart goes out to the people of Ukraine.
Those who lost loved ones in these recent strikes. And so many over the years.
Those who have been injured. Or lost their homes. Or had their dreams shattered by this unjust and unlawful war.
So I am here with you today, dear Volodymyr,
To affirm to you and the Ukrainian people this simple message:
NATO stands with Ukraine.
You and I know that this has been true all along.
I also know that some have called NATO’s support into question in the last couple of months.
But let there be no doubt.
Our support is unwavering.
NATO continues to provide political and practical support for Ukraine by delivering security assistance and training through our command in Wiesbaden. And we work closely together in Kyiv and in Brussels.
What’s more, just in the first three months of 2025, NATO Allies have already pledged more than 20 billion euros in security assistance for Ukraine this year.
Our commitment is clear – and concrete.
We saw further contributions as you rightly said from Allies during the latest Ramstein meeting that was held in Brussels on Friday
Our support to Ukraine is designed to ensure that your country is strong and sovereign. Able to defend today and to deter any future aggression.
All of this to underpin the efforts towards a just and lasting peace.
Indeed, today we again spoke about the important talks that President Trump is leading with Ukraine as well as with Russia to try to end the war and secure a durable peace.
These discussions are not easy – not least in the wake of this horrific violence – but we all support President Trump’s push for peace.
Other Allies – including through efforts led by France and the United Kingdom – are ready, willing and able to shoulder more responsibility in helping to secure a peace when the time comes.
So let me say again – to the people of Ukraine.
We stand with you.
And look forward to a day that the brave men and women of this incredible country can enjoy freedom without fear.

Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General: Let me first say that I want to commend President Trump for breaking the deadlock and starting these talks about peace in Ukraine. I think this is important because we have seen so many people die, we have seen so many cities being destroyed, the infrastructure having been targeted by the Russians so I think this is an important effort. And I have decided not to comment on all the intermediate stages of this whole process because I do not want to interfere with the peace process. Whatever we do when it comes to helping here we do as discreetly as possible and I cannot comment on this in the press. I am sorry.
Question: Mr Secretary General thank you for being here. The first question to you is, is there any information you could disclose on the update of the naval deployment of the coalition of the willing for securing of the Black Sea security situation? (Continues in Ukrainian)
Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General: NATO is involved in a couple of these talks. We are of course following closely with our American friends, the initiatives by President Trump to bring Ukraine and Russia to a ceasefire and we support those efforts. Then through our command in Wiesbaden, so-called NSATU, we are working with Ukraine. And you had a visit last week of the French and the British senior officers here in Ukraine to discuss, going forward, what will be the best format to organise the Ukrainian armed forces for the future. Of course it will also help now with the fight against the Russians but also for the long term future. Because that will, in any case, be the first line of deterrence to make sure that whenever a peace deal is struck/a ceasefire is agreed, that the Ukrainian armed forces are, as the first line of deterrence, capable and able long term to defend the country. And there are initiatives ongoing, and I think you are particularly now referring to what the French and the Brits are working on through the Coalition of the Willing. And we are also very much, of course, part of those talks and trying to advise wherever we can these discussions in the right direction. And I am very happy that the French and the Brits took this initiative to make sure that when, as a first line of defence, you have the Ukrainian armed forces, post a peace deal/ceasefire, that there might be more necessary to make sure that Putin will never ever ever ever try this again. Because nobody wants to get back to a situation of Minsk 2014, where you think you have a sort of peace deal but basically it is not strong enough, it is not holding and Putin tries this again. And whenever we come to a conclusion of this terrible war, it has to be clear to Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin that he can never ever try again to capture one square kilometre or one square mile of Ukraine. So that is why the French, the Brits and others are discussing what we need more, on top of Ukrainian armed forces going forward, to make sure that that guarantee is there. This is all still being debated. It will also depend, it is my absolute conviction, on the exact outcome of a peace deal/a ceasefire and hopefully a strong combination of the two. What exactly will be that format and how it will work and who will do what, etc. These talks are ongoing. As we are preparing for that hopeful soon-to-be-achieved eventuality, I hope of course that NATO tries to steer that in the direction we think will be advisory.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton have had their second showdown of the 2025 federal election campaign. The debate, hosted by the ABC, was moderated by David Speers in the national broadcaster’s studios in Western Sydney.
The leaders were asked a wide range of questions on topics such as negative gearing, nuclear energy and Australia’s relationships with the US and China. But the debate was kicked off on housing, which has been a major focus of the campaign over the last few days.
So, how did it shape up, and how did it compare to the first debate a fortnight ago? Three experts give their analysis.
Matthew Ricketson, Deakin University
Ahead of tonight’s debate, commentators predicted it would have little impact because most people no longer get their news from television and because the election campaign has been deeply uninspiring.
That’s partly an index of how drastically the media landscape has changed. As recently as 2010, nearly 3.4 million people tuned in to watch the debate between Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott, which was broadcast on all three commercial networks, as well as the ABC. That number showed evidence of widespread interest in politics.
The number of viewers’ advance questions to the ABC tonight also illustrated keen interest, particularly on issues like the plight of potentially lifelong renters in an overheated housing market and the urgent need to tackle climate change.
The second leaders’ debate didn’t become heated or hostile. Both the prime minister and the opposition leader stayed relentlessly on-message.
As is well known, Albanese is no Cicero, but he was well prepared and generally clear. He was stronger on housing than his opponent, but clearly did not want to get trapped predicting energy prices again, as he had during the 2022 campaign.
Dutton was also clear when he focused on the issue at hand. His strongest line was one he used at least three times: are you better off now than you were three years ago? It is a line used by US President Donald Trump during his successful campaign last year.
But it was on Trump that Dutton tied himself in knots, asserting he would be able to get a deal done with Trump when virtually no one else has and then saying he did not know him. Huh?
He was also defensive when pressed on his nuclear policy and he was all over the shop on climate change.
Befitting the current election campaign, there were meme-able moments on offer for both. Dutton got out his line about Albanese having a problem with the truth. But he coughed up his own when he admitted making a mistake in saying Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto had “publicly announced” Russia had asked his country for a base for its aircraft.
Michelle Cull, Western Sydney University
After both leaders finished their opening statements in good spirits, the debate quickly turned to housing. As suggested by host David Speers, both parties have “put forward ideas that a lot of experts and economists are warning will only push up prices even more”.
So, could the leaders explain how their plans will make housing more affordable in five or ten years?
Albanese said his party had a plan for both demand and supply. He mentioned the Building Australia’s Future Fund to build more public housing, Build to Rent scheme to increase the private rental supply, and the 5% deposit for first home buyers. He also made note of the 100,000 homes that would be allocated only to first home buyers.
Dutton blamed Albanese for the current housing crisis. He promoted the Coalition’s plans to allow first home buyers access up to $50,000 of their superannuation to buy a home and a planned $5 billion infrastructure fund to free up to 500,000 new home lots. Reducing immigration and foreign ownership also rated a mention.
Dutton explained the most important part of the Coalition’s plan was to allow first home buyers a tax deduction for interest on the first $650,000 of their mortgage. When questioned about this favouring higher income earners, Dutton quickly responded that the average taxpayer would save around $11,000 a year.
Talking tax, this provided the perfect opportunity for Speers to pose the question that many viewers wanted to ask – why are both parties not willing to review the tax breaks for investors and the capital gains tax discount?
Dutton jumped at the chance to challenge Albanese about the modelling on negative gearing conducted by Treasury for the government last year. Albanese replied Treasury was just doing their job and looking at ideas.
The host reminded both leaders that they themselves are property investors. When pressed about possibly placing limits on the number of properties held by investors, Dutton argued there should be no limit as we need the rentals.
Talking rentals, Dutton said renters’ rights were up to the states, while Albanese said his party has delivered the Renter’s Rights Program and increased rental assistance.

For the second leaders’ debate, the ABC’s new Parramatta digs, Studio 91, felt more like the legendary New York dance club, Studio 54. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton stuck to their steps while the host, “DJ” David Speers, tried to disrupt their rhythm.
Dutton opened with the Reaganesque classic, asking viewers: “Are you better off than you were three years ago?”. Albanese countered by saying Australians have done the “hard work” over the past three years, then adding, “there’s much more work to do”.
Dutton wanted to talk about renters. Labor’s policies, he argued, would “drive up the cost of rents”. Albanese held out, preferring to talk first home buyers. “We need to give people a fair crack”, he said.
Dutton retorted, we need to “give young Australians a go”. A “crack” or a “go”. Both options have “hit” written all over them.
Speers then changed tunes, turning to the old election stalwart, spending versus revenue.
“We have improved the bottom line”, Albanese assured viewers. That claim “defies the reality”, Dutton responded. Speers asked Dutton, “Where do you cut?”. No answer. Speers then quizzed Albanese. “When will power bills come down?” No answer.
“I’m friends with Keir Starmer”, Albanese suddenly volunteered, cautioning against the Coalition’s nuclear energy plans. The UK prime minister, Albanese said, regrets his country’s nuclear adventures.
Crossing the Atlantic, Dutton remarked, the Coalition has an “incredible relationship” with the Trump administration. The government’s current ambassador, Kevin Rudd, “can’t get a phone call with the president”, he said. The former ambassador, Joe Hockey, “used to play golf with him.”
The second leaders’ debate traversed the dance floor to the golf course, but got no closer to differing visions for the country.
In a rare moment of harmony, Albanese and Dutton concurred: both sides of government have failed Indigenous Australians. No debate there.

Two “moments” stuck out in Wednesday’s leaders’ debate, the second head-to-head of the campaign.
Peter Dutton cut his losses over his faux pas this week when he wrongly named Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto as having said there had been a Russian approach to base aircraft in Papua.
So that was a mistake, ABC moderator David Speers asked. “It was a mistake.”
The other “moment” was in a discussion about negative gearing, when Anthony Albanese denied the government had sought modelling on that. The public service “certainly wasn’t commissioned by us to do so”. In fact, we know Treasurer Jim Chalmers asked Treasury to do it.
That enabled Dutton to repeat a favourite Coalition line. “This prime minister has a problem with the truth.” (Albanese has given grist for this line by his denial earlier in the campaign that he fell off a stage, when the footage contradicted him.)
While the leaders were predictably well-rehearsed across the broad sweep of issues, they could not prevent their weak spots being put on display.
Albanese struggled with something that has not been canvassed enough.Wasn’t there a case for more means testing of some of the big spending the government has undertaken?
Then of course there was the perennially unanswerable question: when will power prices come down? The PM squirmed.
Dutton left us no more informed about what a Coalition government would cut to finance his programs, although he did concede, when asked whether cuts to the public service would be enough to cover all his spending, “The short answer is no”.
On climate change, the opposition leader looked awkward, when asked what seemed simple questions, such as whether the impact of climate change was getting worse. That’s a judgement he’d prefer to leave to others, “because I’m not a scientist”.
Aware that he is paying a political cost by being painted as Trump-lite, Dutton dodged when asked whether he trusted Trump. “I don’t know Donald Trump” was his lame response (although he continues to declare himself confident of being able to get a deal on tariffs with him).
Albanese, for his part, said he had “no reason not to trust him”.
The PM reconfirmed that in tariff discussions with the US, Australia’s critical minerals were on the table, but lacked clarity when pressed on what precisely was Australia’s proposed critical minerals reserve.
The two leaders were at one on being behind AUKUS (just like they are on not touching negative gearing) despite increasing criticism of the agreement in Australia.
Housing was thoroughly canvassed but without taking us much further. It now seems it is the politicians against the experts, many of whom are sceptical of much of both sides’ offerings.
Speers’ raising the issue of renters was a reminder that the housing issue in this campaign – at least as it’s being argued by the main parties – has been firmly focused on promoting ownership. The plight of renters has been the bailiwick of the Greens.
Asked about the one big reform change they’d like to be remembered for, Albanese nominated affordable child care.
Dutton went to a more ambitious level, nominating energy, which was, he said, “the economy”, an inevitably more contestable area than childcare. This opened the usual claims and counter-claims about nuclear.
For those who want to hear the next round of the leaders’ duelling, they will meet again on April 27 on commercial TV.
The Albanese government has made reducing the gender pay gap one of its signature issues. Among other initiatives, its legislation in 2022 required the Fair Work Commission to take into account the need to achieve gender equality.
The commission’s expert panel for pay equity has been investigating five areas: pharmacists, health workers, social and community services employees, dental assistants, and child care workers.
On Wednesday its results were released, finding gender-based undervaluation of work in all these areas and proposing pay rises up to 35%.
There is an immediate determination for pharmacists, who will receive a 14.1% pay rise phased in over three years. In the other areas, a process of further hearings will commence.
The government reacted cautiously. The bill for the wages of many workers in the care sector falls on to the public purse.
A Labor spokesperson said: “A re-elected Albanese Government will engage positively with the Commission consistent with the principles set out in our submission [to the expert panel] , including our obligation to manage any changes in a fiscally and economically responsible manner”.
The Australian Industry Group declared “many employers will struggle to meet the scale of the increased costs proposed”.
“Industry will be anxiously awaiting the response of the major sides of politics to the decision and what concrete commitments will be made to assist employers in grappling with its implications.”
The last thing the government wants to make on this before the election is a “concrete commitment”.

The capital has stepped up control over compliance with fire safety rules in green areas. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Public Utilities and Improvement Petr Biryukov.
“In connection with the onset of the fire-hazardous period, control over compliance with fire safety rules in green areas has been strengthened, and additional measures have been taken to prevent possible wildfires. Firefighters and rescuers of the capital’s garrison are conducting enhanced patrols to identify cases of unauthorized burning of garbage and grass burning,” noted Petr Biryukov.
In the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts, comprehensive work is being carried out to prevent natural fires. In particular, fire-prevention and mineralized strips are being arranged, and double plowing of areas near residential buildings is being carried out.
Additionally, water intake sites for aircraft are being examined, approaches to reservoirs and piers are being equipped, and helicopter pads are being prepared. In addition, control over the removal of garbage and dry grass, as well as the cutting down of hazardous trees, has been strengthened.

On April 17, the premiere of the play will take place on the main stage of the MOST Theatre “Beep!”, dedicated to the legendary editorial board of the newspaper of the same name. Its employees at the dawn of their careers were Valentin Kataev, Eduard Bagritsky, Yuri Olesha and other famous writers. “Kultura Moskvy” talked to Evgeny Slavutin, director, teacher, founder and artistic director of the theater, about choosing a plot for a production, the importance of creative energy and the ability to stay young at any age.
— Evgeny Iosifovich, why did you decide to stage a play about young Soviet literature now? What makes this topic relevant?
— Our theatre is young — this is its indisputable advantage and feature, which we try to take into account when choosing material for productions. In this case, we took a certain historical moment into work: young Odessans of the 1920s, passionately interested in poetry, passionately dream of making it and move to Moscow for this purpose.
The age of our actors coincides with the age of their characters, and this is a good prerequisite for creating a live performance. We allowed the performers in the characters to look further, to go through their life’s journey to the end. This means that the performance will have an important psychological component that will be interesting to both the actors and the audience. Our task is to create a performance that penetrates the soul of the viewer, which will be relevant in its uniqueness. Relevance is not a task, but the result of the work.
And then, it’s just very interesting material! A completely unique case: all our heroes find themselves in the same editorial office, moreover, in the same premises of the newspaper “Gudok”. Here, an amazing atmosphere of humor and creative energy arises, with the help of which they transform routine, utilitarian work, filling it with the brilliance of wit, turning it into a unique school of literary mastery. They raced to amaze each other, thereby setting a certain trend of cheerful, mischievous, and most importantly, real literature. And at this takeoff, they begin to write their big books. They create them in a festive atmosphere, despite the recent Civil War, hunger and domestic instability. They compose works that will make a splash.
— You defined the genre of the play as a documentary phantasmagoria. What elements characterize it?
— The script is based on the memories of real people. But literary memories, which sometimes become documents, are one thing, and a performance in which directors and actors convey the living energy of events, passing them through themselves, is quite another. In our case, through the energy of youth.
Another important condition is the use of certain artistic techniques that involve the audience in the proposed events. Including a system of monologues built in the form of a direct appeal to the public. In short, this is a document, but played out and fertilized by the actor’s and director’s element.
— The legendary newspaper “Gudok” was distinguished, among other things, by its amazing sense of humor. Were its satirical nature transferred to the production? What techniques did you use?
— Satire is a reaction to topical moments in life. And despite the fact that our heroes wrote their newspaper articles brilliantly, the topic is a thing of the past. But a sense of humor is priceless, and we hope we managed to preserve it.
— The performance was also prepared with the help of the plastic director Vladimir Belyaikin and the director-choreographer Elena Ershova. Does this mean that the audience should expect many dance numbers?
— The theater requires an actor to demonstrate the ability to work with different capabilities. Not only intonation and voice, psychological expressiveness and authenticity are important, but also control of the body, which must be mobile and rhythmic. I have known Vladimir Belyaikin, winner of the Golden Mask award, for about 30 years. His works are amazing. Elena Ershova started in our theater as an actress, and now she is a candidate of pedagogical sciences, a dance specialist. But I would say that she is a co-director in the performance. Elena prepares dance and plastic numbers that express a certain essence of specific moments of the action. That is, the audience will see not isolated inclusions, but plastic solutions deeply connected with the course of the performance, in which not specially trained dancers take part, but actors.
— Among the heroes of the play are Valentin Kataev, Eduard Bagritsky, Yuri Olesha, Mikhail Bulgakov, Ilya Ilf and Evgeny Petrov — figures of incredible scale for Russian literature, bright, original. Was it difficult to choose suitable performers for these roles?
– No, it’s not difficult. We have a very large troupe – about 80 people – talented, charged with art, obsessed people who have gone through our school. Acting talent, in my opinion, consists of obsession with the material and the complex of tasks with which the artist goes on stage.
A wonderful coincidence occurred here: first we chose the actors, then we looked at photographs of the heroes of our play and were surprised by the striking resemblance.
— In collaboration with Alexander Vilkin, you once wrote the play “How It Was” based on the works of Ilf and Petrov. Did that experience help you to become even more deeply involved with the characters of the new production?
– Of course, it helped. Alexander Vilkin is a very talented person. At one time, the play “How It Was” was brilliantly performed at the Moscow Theater of Miniatures, so it was impossible not to use some of the techniques. But still, these are different plays, even in formal moments. In that one there were two hosts – Ilya Ilf and Evgeny Petrov, in “Gudok!” most of the narration is from the point of view of Valentin Kataev, and the story of Ilf and Petrov is just one of the lines.
— The ability to see and describe life like the characters in a play seems simple, but in reality, not everyone has it. What, in your opinion, will help develop it for those who would also like to become a great writer one day?
— I have been teaching acting all my adult life: first at the Lomonosov Moscow State University Theatre, and for the last 25 years at the MOST Theatre. And I can say for sure that an actor is born and raised in collective work. You can’t train a person in acting techniques — the same goes for literary creativity. There must be some groups in which interesting cross-pollination occurs. If Ilya Ilf, Yevgeny Petrov, Yuri Olesha, Eduard Bagritsky and Mikhail Bulgakov sit and work in the same room, then most likely something incredible is happening there. They influenced each other willy-nilly, it is no coincidence that all these characters burst into the country’s leading theatre at almost the same time.
— What is the essence of creativity and the main source of inspiration for you?
— Passion, youth (at any age) and non-pragmatism. Yes, Alexander Pushkin’s phrase is well-known: “Inspiration is not for sale, but a manuscript can be sold.” But a manuscript must first be born in a state of inspiration. A person must write because he cannot help but write.
And the source of inspiration for me is our actors. After all, these are people who are not crushed by their profession. People with talent, who unite in our acting school and then stay in the theater. We recruit study groups twice a year and literally after 12 classes we graduate artists who are free, easy and in love with their work. And the question of professionalism does not arise – all viewers note the special, bright energy and intelligent eyes of our actors. I attribute this to the fact that they are not only artists, but also physicists, biologists, journalists, that is, people living in a diverse, multi-tasking world, studying this world in its entirety. And working with such people, sometimes very difficult in the process of achieving those artistic goals that we are working on, endlessly inspires me.

Australians strongly disagree with key policies of US President Donald Trump, and have overwhelmingly lost trust in the United States to act responsibly in the world, according to the Lowy Institute’s 2025 poll.
Despite this, 80% of people say the alliance is “very” or “fairly” important for Australia’s security, only fractionally down on last year’s 83%.
The poll also found people nearly evenly divided on whether Peter Dutton (35%) or Anthony Albanese (34%) would be the better leader to manage Australia’s relations with Trump.
But Albanese rated much more strongly than Dutton as better able to manage Australia’s relationship with China and President Xi Jinping (45% to 25%).
Albanese was also well ahead (41%-29%) when people were asked who would be more competent at handling Austrlaia’s foreign policy over the next three years.
The poll comes as the “Trump effect” has overshadowed the campaign, and increasingly worked against Dutton. Labor has cast Dutton as having looked to the US for policies, such as his proposed cuts to the public service. It has labelled him “DOGEy Dutton”, a reference to Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The Lowy poll of 2,117 people was taken between March 3 and 16. This was after Trump had announced plans for a 25% tariff on steel and aluminium imports, and other tariffs, but before his “Liberation Day” regime which saw a 10% general tariff hitting all countries.
Trust in the US has plummeted since the last Lowy poll in 2024, with nearly two-thirds of respondents (64%) having little or no trust in the US to act responsibly in the world, compared with 44% a year before.
This is a new low in the poll’s two-decade history. Trust fell dramatically among older voters. Trust was already relatively low among younger voters, and fell by a smaller margin.
On various Trump stances, the poll found Australians most disapproving (89%) of Trump’s pressure on Denmark to sell or or hand over its self-governing territory of Greenland to the US.
More than eight in ten (81%) disapproved of Trump’s use of tariffs to pressure other countries to comply with his administration’s objectives.
Three-quarters disapproved of the US withdrawing from the World Health Organization (76%) and from international climate change agreements (74%).
In addition, three-quarters (74%) disapproved of Trump negotiating a deal on the future of Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin that might require Ukraine to accept a loss of territory. The dramatic Oval Office showdown between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US Vice President JD Vance took place just before the survey.
Australians also disapproved of the US cutting spending on foreign aid (64%) and undertaking mass deportations of undocumented migrants (56%).
On Trump’s demand that US allies spend more on defence people were, however, evenly divided (49% approved/disapproved).

Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Mark Rutte held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Shigeru Ishiba in Tokyo on April 9. In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the two sides strongly opposed any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force or coercion in the East China Sea and the South China Sea. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait as an indispensable element of the international community’s security and prosperity and encouraged the peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues. Furthermore, the statement recognized that the security of the Euro-Atlantic and that of the Indo-Pacific were interconnected, stressing that continued Japan-NATO cooperation would benefit the security of both regions.
This Japan-NATO bilateral meeting was the first since Secretary General Rutte assumed office. It also marked the third time since 2022 that the two sides had issued a joint statement conveying a high level of concern over cross-strait issues. The joint statement underscored the fact that the security of Taiwan has become a common global issue and that the international community has formed a high level of consensus on countering authoritarian expansion led by China and Russia and on ensuring peace across the Taiwan Strait. In addition, it demonstrated that cross-strait peace and stability are closely related to not only the security environment of the Indo-Pacific but also that of Europe.

The program “1 ruble per square meter per year” allows businesses to use a preferential rental rate. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Vladimir Efimov.
“The program “1 ruble per square meter per year” has been operating in Moscow for 13 years. This is a mutually beneficial option for cooperation between the city and business, allowing for the restoration of architectural monuments and other objects and at the same time supporting entrepreneurs. Research projects by students of Rosneft classes from Buzuluk and Sorochinsk were recognized as the best at the All-Russian forum-competition of research projects “School Premier League” in St. Petersburg.
The final of the forum was held at the Empress Catherine II Mining University under the auspices of the Russian Federation Commission for UNESCO. The forum is aimed at finding and supporting talented senior school students to enter specialized universities that graduate specialists in the mineral resources complex.
The winners of the competition included students of the specialized “Rosneft-classes” Ilya Grabar, Yulia Mustaeva, Tatyana Plaksina and Alina Galieva. Ilya presented a project of a mobile analyzer of the state of drilling mud during drilling. Its design includes a cleaning system that removes metal particles, rock and other impurities in real time. Thus, the mobile analyzer will extend the service life of the equipment, will contribute to safe and cost-effective drilling.
Alina Galieva’s project attracted particular interest from the competition experts. Using a self-designed model, the girl demonstrated the possibility of using self-healing overhead power lines. Due to the special design of the fastening (without rigid fixation of the wire and the use of sliding suspension rollers), the wires are not damaged, which significantly increases the reliability and uninterrupted power supply to wells. The innovation is especially relevant for facilities located in wooded areas, where there is a high probability of damage to electrical wires due to falling branches or trees.
Yulia Mustaeva developed her strategy for attracting and retaining young specialists, and Tatyana Plaksina presented a facial recognition program.
In total, more than 800 research papers from all over the country were submitted to the selection round of the competition. The works of 14 students of Rosneft-classes from Orenburg reached the final, and eight of them became prize winners. In total, 48 people became winners of the competition in various nominations this year, 145 participants received prizes.
As part of the forum, Rosneft-class students took part in educational interactive lectures, quests and events with leading Russian scientists. The children also visited the Mining Museum and the Mining University laboratory.

As part of the Decade of Science, a delegation of teachers from the Humanitarian Institute visited the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Kazakhstan). The long-standing and fruitful cooperation between the Humanitarian Institute of SPbPU and the Philological Faculty of ENU continues to strengthen, acquiring new formats of academic interaction.

The RN-Vankor company (an extractive asset of Rosneft) organized a motor rally in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the route of which ran through the key facilities of the Vostok Oil project.
Cars with the Victory Banner covered a distance of more than a thousand kilometers across the tundra – from the Vankor field to the port of Bukhta Sever on the shore of the Kara Sea.
The rally participants made stops at production facilities, where they shared memories of their relatives, participants in the Great Patriotic War, with colleagues and honored their memory with a minute of silence.
An important point of the rally was the village of Dikson, the northernmost settlement in Russia and the only point on the map of Krasnoyarsk Krai where battles took place during the Great Patriotic War. In August 1942, one of the northernmost battles took place in the Kara Sea. The German cruiser Admiral Scheer attacked the Soviet port of Dikson as part of Operation Wunderland, but encountered fierce resistance and was forced to retreat. This battle became a symbol of the unbending courage of the Soviet defenders, who thwarted the enemy’s plans to capture the strategically important port of the Northern Sea Route.
The rally finished at the port of “Bukhta Sever”, where oil workers laid flowers at the Memorial in honor of the 80th anniversary of the defense of Dikson in memory of the heroism of Soviet Northern Fleet soldiers.

As part of the Russia–Indonesia Business Forum in Jakarta, the Eastern Economic Forum held a travelling session entitled ‘Expanding Business Interaction through the Mechanisms of Scientific and Educational Partnership between the Russian Far East and Indonesia’. It was devoted to the prospects for cooperation between the Far East and Indonesian regions in the educational sphere.
The panel discussion was attended by representatives of leading universities and specialized departments from Russia and Indonesia. The speakers included Ahmad Najib Burhani, Director General for Science and Technology at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia; Tatachipta Dirgantara, Rector of the Bandung Institute of Technology; Evgeny Vlasov, Vice-Rector for International Relations of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU); Tri Andika Kurniawan, Vice-Chancellor of Bakri University; Yury Marfin, Rector of the Pacific State University (PSU); Hamdi Muluk, Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, University of Indonesia; Elena Kharisova, General Director of the Fund for Development of the Russky Innovation Science and Technology Centre. The moderator was Elvira Nurgalieva, Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.
During her speech, Elvira Nurgalieva noted that the scientific and educational partnership between the Far Eastern Federal District as a region of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Indonesia is not just an exchange of knowledge, but a valuable practical tool for expanding business cooperation.
“Implementing joint training programmes, launching new research projects, working to improve the quality of education – all this can create a basis for long-term economic cooperation. We attribute an important role in this process to the work of the Innovation Science and Technology Centre on Russky Island. We are creating a concentrate of science, technology, education and production at the ISTC, where comprehensive programmes will be implemented with government support to attract the best scientists, engineering teams, and specialists in various fields of science and technology, including world-class ones. ISTC will become an important platform for interaction with scientists from Asia-Pacific countries, in particular Indonesia,” noted Elvira Nurgalieva.
In turn, Yuri Marfin noted that expert support for the development of the Far East and strengthening Russia’s influence in the Asia–Pacific region are tasks that are part of the PSU development programme.
‘That is why we prioritize the development of co-operation with representatives of the academic and business sectors of the Asia–Pacific Region. Universities can and should become a significant entry point to start a meaningful dialogue on cooperation in science and technology. To address these challenges, our university has been increasing the number of international students, including those from Indonesia, year after year. We have developed entrepreneurship training programmes for students and implement them both in Russia and in our partner universities in the Asia–Pacific region. We design joint business missions to exchange topical projects. The joint development of young people through university education in our countries, academic and cultural exchanges is the key to long-term and effective co-operation. We are making the greatest efforts in this direction,’ emphasized Yuri Marfin.
Boris Korobets noted that FEFU has been a key partner in the development of Russian-Indonesian co-operation in science, education and new technologies for more than a decade.
‘We are joining forces with scientists from Indonesia to solve urgent problems in medicine, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology development. Today, FEFU is the largest scientific and educational hub in the Far East with a network of more than 200 partners in APR countries. Our university has 3,500 international students, and we plan to increase this number to 7,500 by 2030. The university has access to unique infrastructure for joint initiatives, including the Russky Island ISTC, which is a special economic zone with attractive tax preferences. Our technologies can make a significant contribution to Indonesia’s ambitious oil and gas targets, while our expertise in biodiversity monitoring will help with environmental projects for ocean conservation. The synergy of science, education and business that we are creating at FEFU will become a powerful platform for developing Russian-Indonesian co-operation and solving the global challenges of our countries,’ said Boris Korobets.
‘Bakrie University, part of the Bakrie Group ecosystem, is focused on addressing the challenge of ‘connectivity and alignment’ between industry needs and the higher education system. This is fulfilled through active engagement with industry. Currently 250 Bakrie Group companies support the university in the implementation of apprenticeship programmes. Bakrie University expresses its readiness to cooperate with Russian universities through internship programmes for students from Russia at Bakrie Group enterprises,’ said Vice Chancellor of Bakrie University Tri Andika Kurniawan.
Igor Pavlov, First Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Eastern Economic Forum, emphasized that international communication platforms are a working tool for establishing interstate cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
‘The Eastern Economic Forum demonstrates sustainable development dynamics, consistently strengthening its position as a global discussion platform for developing strategic solutions, including in the sphere of new technologies, education and science. As a new co-operation architecture is being formed, we are concentrating our efforts on deepening the international track. These are the situations in which we are afraid to find ourselves. The film “The Word of a Boy” does not leave us either, because it is the same theme.”
The author also reflects on who can be called the hero of our time, or rather, of several eras – the 80s, 90s and 2000s. “In the 80s, of course, it was “Courier”. And you remember, this guy is very nice, not stupid, but without any life plan, incapable of anything. In the 90s, the film “Limit” comes out, where there is a completely different hero. Instead of an apathetic Muscovite, there appears a motivated provincial guy, inclined to risk, who does not stop at any obstacles. And in the 2000s, Zvyagintsev’s debut – “The Return”. If viewers want to see what games women play, the author of the book suggests paying attention to the film “Walk” by Alexey Uchitel. “This is a master class in women’s manipulation techniques of the highest level,” he believes.
Vadim Radaev also examines relationships and conflicts between generations. “There was a film called ‘Acid’, where this topic is particularly acutely traced, children do not conflict with their parents, but there is no understanding between them,” the researcher explained.
The film “The Truman Show” makes you think about why people put their lives on public display. And the mini-series “The Department” raises questions about how a university should develop: should it keep up with the times and move towards something new, or should it rely on the classics.
“My book is not entirely scientific. I use the results of my own research and that of others, it contains references to scientific works and quotes from songs. To a large extent, this is a personal reflection,” Vadim Radaev summed up.
Sergei Filonovich, professor Department of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management HSE, a regular co-presenter of the Christmas Seminar, gave a short guide on how to use Vadim Radaev’s book. “I would not recommend reading it straight through, it is pointless to read chapters about films you have not seen, because there is no exact retelling of the plot, there is an analysis of impressions, the thoughts that the author generates. It should be read chapter by chapter after watching a specific film,” the professor is sure. Sergei Filonovich believes that Vadim Radaev’s readers will be able to evaluate the films they have watched from a different angle: “That is why I would say that this book is not only for young viewers, but also for fairly experienced ones.” In his opinion, this publication is a kind of dialogue between readers and the author: “Sometimes you want to discuss a film with an intelligent person, but where can you find one? The Moscow Government Presidium meeting considered the implementation of the capital repairs program apartment buildings in the capital and approved plans for its implementation in the near future. Following the discussion of the issue, Sergei Sobyanin approved plans for major repairs for 2025 and the near future.
In his report, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Public Utilities and Improvement Pyotr Biryukov noted that from 2015 to 2024, work was carried out within the framework of the program in more than 14.5 thousand houses, in which over 3.8 million Muscovites live.
According to the Russian Ministry of Construction, Moscow ranks first among the subjects of the Russian Federation in terms of the implementation of regional capital repair programs in 2024.
In 2025, work is planned to be carried out in another 2,428 houses.
In addition, to further improve the efficiency of work, from 2025 onwards, a transition to centralized procurement of materials and equipment is underway with subsequent provision to contractors (radiators and convectors, heated towel rails, paint for facade repair work, garbage chutes).
The Moscow program for capital repairs of apartment buildings is designed for 30 years: its implementation began in 2015 and is scheduled to be completed in 2044. This is one of the largest housing stock modernization projects in the world. The program includes about 30 thousand buildings with a total area of more than 300 million square meters – this is 10 percent of all apartment buildings included in regional programs throughout Russia. Specialists will have to repair more than 400 thousand engineering systems and structural elements of buildings.
The main goals of the program are to ensure comfortable and safe living for Muscovites, save resources, reduce the risk of emergency situations and increase the aesthetic appeal of the exterior of residential buildings. The Moscow program is fully consistent with the goals and objectives of the national project “Infrastructure for life”.
The program operator is the Moscow City Apartment Building Capital Repair Fund. It controls the volume, quality, and timing of the work performed.
The list of works carried out within the framework of the Moscow program is expanded in comparison with the list established by the Housing Code of the Russian Federation. In addition to major repairs and replacement of the main structural elements and engineering systems, it includes repairs of entrances, internal drainage systems, smoke removal and fire water supply, as well as replacement of garbage chutes and windows in common areas.
When renovating facades, modern technologies are used that allow not only to restore the external appearance of buildings, but also to increase their energy efficiency.
Brick facades are subject to mandatory hydrophobization. This method of treatment protects them from destructive processes associated with temperature changes and high humidity.
When restoring painted facades of panel houses, the first stage involves correcting the geometry of the panels, and the second stage involves filling the interpanel seams with sealant. After this, the surfaces are primed and painted in two layers.
For facades of houses faced with small-sized tiles, a technology using polymer-cement mixtures on reinforcing meshes is used. A facade repaired in this way will last at least 30 years.
Major repairs of entrances in accordance with the Moscow program are carried out in full – from floor to ceiling.
According to the developed standard, only materials and technologies that meet strict requirements for quality, safety and durability are used during the work. For example, the walls are cleaned of old finishes and covered with washable, non-fading paint that tolerates moisture well: after cleaning, there are no streaks or smudges left on it.
When renovating entrances, the opinions of residents are taken into account. They themselves choose from the proposed options of color, texture and other parameters. The design of mailboxes and entrance doors is thought out separately. Therefore, major renovation of entrances is painstaking work and an individual approach.
Particular attention is paid to cultural heritage sites: 364 such buildings are included in the Moscow capital repairs program.
Since 2020, in order to preserve historical elements and details as carefully as possible, the city has been allocating special subsidies to cover additional costs when organizing work in apartment buildings – architectural monuments. An individual approach is used for such objects. Specialists carefully develop a project for repair and restoration work. They are carried out using advanced technologies and under strict control.
Co-financing of major repairs in buildings that are architectural monuments allows not only to restore their historical appearance, but also to maintain a single amount of contribution for major repairs for all residents. Thanks to city subsidies, more than 30 objects have already been restored. For example, in 2024, specialists updated the facades of residential buildings of the high-rise on Krasnye Vorota Square.

The cumulative Non-Petroleum exports in FY 2024-25 (April-March) valued at US$ 374.08 Billion registered an increase of 6.0% as compared to US$ 352.92 Billion in FY 2023-24
Major drivers of merchandise exports growth in FY 2024-25 (April-March) include Coffee, Tobacco, Electronic Goods, Rice, Jute Mfg. including Floor Covering, Meat, dairy & poultry products, Tea, Carpet, Plastic & Linoleum, RMG of all Textiles, Drugs & Pharmaceuticals, Cereal preparations & miscellaneous processed items, Mica, Coal & Other Ores, Minerals including processed minerals, Engineering Goods and Fruits & Vegetables.
Coffee exports increased by 40.37% from US$ 1.29 Billion in FY 2023-24 (April-March) to US$ 1.81 Billion in FY 2024-25 (April-March).
Tobacco exports increased by 36.53% from US$ 1.45 Billion in FY 2023-24 (April-March) to US$ 1.98 Billion in FY 2024-25 (April-March).
Electronic Goods exports increased by 32.47% from US$ 29.12 Billion in FY 2023-24 (April-March) to US$ 38.58 Billion in FY 2024-25 (April-March).
Rice exports increased by 19.73% from US$ 10.42 Billion in FY 2023-24 (April-March) to US$ 12.47 Billion in FY 2024-25 (April-March).

Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev held a meeting on issues of socio-economic development of Kamchatka Krai.
“The time has come to talk about the results, when the head of the region must talk about what has been done to improve the quality of life of citizens, about how the economy is changing in each area, and present plans for how subsequent work will be structured to move forward,” said Yuri Trutnev.
“We are starting to hold meetings with residents: we will discuss the results achieved with them, define tasks for the future that would be related to people’s priorities. Improving the quality of life is the measure of our work. At the beginning of my work in Kamchatka, the first thing that was done was to conduct a survey of tens of thousands of people throughout Kamchatka. Their wishes were collected in a people’s program. Specific results have been achieved under it, which we will talk about with people and discuss the next stage of implementing this program. We managed to resolve issues with completing long-term construction projects of iconic facilities, and resolve long-standing infrastructure problems. The basis for further development has been formed, which we will definitely implement in accordance with the priorities of residents,” said Vladimir Solodov, Governor of Kamchatka Krai.
The meeting discussed issues of development of the main sectors of the economy and aspects of the social sphere.
The region’s economy is based on the fishing industry. Minerals are mined on the peninsula, and work continues to attract investment in tourism. The region ranks third in the Far East in terms of wages.
Investment projects are an important basis for the future development of the region. Kamchatka has a priority development area, a free port, and investors are provided with financial and infrastructure support. 239 investors with projects worth 303 billion rubles have already taken advantage of such government support measures, investors have already invested 127 billion rubles, facilities of 90 investment projects have been commissioned, and more than 12 thousand new jobs have been created thanks to the commissioning of new enterprises. Kamchatka ranks ninth among the subjects of the Far Eastern Federal District in terms of actual investments with government support, and sixth in terms of jobs created. Projects are being implemented in the fields of logistics, tourism, agriculture, housing construction, mining and processing of minerals.
The most important area of work is the creation of comfortable living conditions for people. Attention is paid to improving the quality of medical and educational services, creating sports infrastructure.
The region has support mechanisms – the Far Eastern mortgage and the Hectare program for the provision of a land plot for free use. More than 1.7 thousand people received preferential mortgages, and over 4.5 thousand people received their Far Eastern hectare.
The issues of stimulating housing construction were considered separately. In the region, 82 thousand square meters of residential premises were commissioned in 2024. This is the eighth place among the Far Eastern regions.
