  • MIL-OSI China: Supercharging station powers green mobility for China’s new wheels

Source: People’s Republic of China – State Council News

An EV charging station in south China’s tech hub of Shenzhen is fueling a quiet transformation to green mobility amid the low hum of energy flow.

As a steady stream of electric vehicles entered bays at the Lotus Hill supercharging station in Shenzhen’s Futian District, a young man surnamed Sun gestured toward his rapidly charging sedan at a 600kW hypercharger.

“An hour elsewhere, just 20 minutes here,” he said. “This is Shenzhen speed.”

Sun’s experience is soon expected to be shared by millions of EV owners across China, where the number of new energy vehicles (NEVs) had reached 31.4 million by the end of 2024 — accounting for more than half of the world’s total, as shown by official data.

Such infrastructure development is critical for the world’s largest EV market, where stations like Lotus Hill are engineering the future of mobility.

Since opening six months ago, this technological beacon in Shenzhen has become the preferred pitstop for discerning EV drivers, attracting over 600 vehicles daily.

Lotus Hill’s 27 charging points, including four record-setting 600kW hyperchargers, run near capacity.

“One kilometer per second,” explained a technician monitoring the control system. This means that an average family car can potentially secure over 80 percent of it’s maximum battery life within 10 minutes of charging.

For drivers like Sun, who visits Lotus Hill twice weekly, the difference is transformative. “No queues, even at rush hour. It rewrites your schedule,” said Sun.

    However, this innovation extends deeper.

The station’s core innovation, China’s first integration of “solar storage, hypercharging, vehicle-grid interaction and OpenHarmony for Power operating system (OS),” makes it a linchpin in supporting the nation’s EV ambitions.

Lotus Hill’s 152 kW solar canopy and 200 kWh battery storage bank combine to enable true “green electrons for green wheels,” but its transformative potential truly lies in its vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities.

Through V2G technology, equipped across 22 specialized charging piles offering 36 outlets, EVs transform into mobile power units.

A compelling demonstration occurred in March 2025 during China’s largest V2G event, when the Lotus Hill station discharged 13,000 kWh into the grid daily — equivalent to powering 1,600 households for a whole day.

Drivers, meanwhile, aren’t just fueling the future. They are also profiting, earning 4 yuan (about 0.56 U.S. dollar) per kWh discharged, said Zhang Jiasen, a senior manager at the power supply bureau of Futian District under the Shenzhen branch of China Southern Power Grid.

Contrasted with off-peak charging costs of 0.4 yuan per kWh, the benefit is clear — a net gain of 3.6 yuan per kWh.

Managing such complex interoperability, which involves integrating diverse vehicles and chargers, requires robust technical architecture. Notably, five advanced piles at Lotus Hill utilize OpenHarmony for Power, which is a domestically-developed industrial-grade operating system.

This system, on the one hand, secures digital assets by enhancing the information security of charging and swapping equipment, while on the other hand allowing for more flexible and efficient networking of devices, thereby improving the adaptability of charging and swapping equipment.

Zhang framed it as linguistic harmony.

“Charging technology for new energy vehicles is evolving rapidly. To ensure that the power grid ‘speaks the same language’ as various types of vehicles and charging piles, it is essential to achieve plug-and-play capabilities and data interoperability,” he said. “OpenHarmony for Power made it possible.”

“The supercharging station crystallizes our efforts in supporting Shenzhen’s ambitious transformation into a global digital energy pioneer,” Zhang added.

  • MIL-OSI Asia-Pac: Police launch e-traffic tickets

    Source: Hong Kong Information Services

Police today officially launched the digitalisation of Fixed Penalty Notices, and will issue penalty tickets for illegal parking and moving traffic offences electronically from now on.

Additionally, a thematic portal and mobile application have also been launched to facilitate vehicle owners and drivers to verify and settle their fines using electronic payment methods.

The force will issue electronic penalty tickets (ePTs) according to the verified e-contact means (ECM) submitted by offenders to the Transport Department – SMS tickets for those who have provided a Hong Kong mobile phone number, and email tickets for those who have provided an email address.

It will continue to issue printed paper penalty tickets to those that have not submitted their verified ECMs.

At the initial stage of implementation, Police will adopt a “dual-track” transitional arrangement. Offenders will receive both ePTs and printed paper tickets, and they are only required to settle their fines using either one. Members of the public are encouraged to use ePTs.

The formats of penalty tickets have also been updated to include new payment information and methods.

The force reminds the public that all SMS tickets are issued under the SMS sender name “#HKPF-eTT”, and a purported SMS ticket that is not sent under this sender name must be fake.

Moreover, all SMS or email tickets do not contain any hyperlinks, and people should avoid clicking on any suspicious hyperlinks or providing any personal information.

Lastly, the platform’s thematic portal has a domain ending with “.gov.hk”. Websites that do not end with “.gov.hk” are not government official websites.

URUMQI, June 15 (Xinhua) — Karasu Port, located in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is the only land port on the border between China and Tajikistan. In recent years, it has become an important gateway for exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

The dynamic development of bilateral trade through the Karasu checkpoint is the embodiment of the rapid growth of pragmatic cooperation within the framework of the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”.

The data show that there was a significant increase in the number of people and vehicles entering and leaving China through the Karasu Port in January-May 2025. In particular, the number of commercial vehicles exported through the Karasu Port during the reporting period jumped 102.4 percent to 9,096 units.

A wide range of Chinese goods, including new energy vehicles, large-scale equipment and construction machinery, are exported to Tajikistan and other countries through the Karasu checkpoint.

“Trade between China and Tajikistan has opened up new opportunities for me,” said Eliasjiang, a driver from the city of Kashgar, adding that his income has also increased due to the increased demand for cargo transportation.

Shavkat Gulaezov, a businessman from Tajikistan, frequently travels between Dushanbe and Xinjiang.

“Electronic products and NEV vehicles from China are particularly popular among Tajik consumers,” he said, adding that convenient customs clearance procedures at checkpoints have strengthened the confidence of Tajik businessmen in the prospects for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Data shows that the trade volume between China and Tajikistan doubled between 2013 and 2023. Bilateral trade turnover reached $3.926 billion in 2023.

The Karasu checkpoint is not only a busy trade channel, but also a bridge of friendship connecting the peoples of China and Tajikistan and carrying the dream of joint development.

Sun Hui, a professor at Xinjiang University, said that with high-quality development and the continuous expansion of trade channels, the Karasu port will give strong impetus to deepening trade and economic cooperation between China and Central Asia. -0-

  • After day of nationwide protests, Trump’s military parade rolls through D.C.

    Source: Government of India

    Source: Government of India (4)

President Donald Trump’s long-sought military parade rolled though the streets of downtown Washington on Saturday, but the celebration of the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary was marred by a day of violence and discord.

In the hours before the parade began, hundreds of thousands of Americans marched and rallied in streets in cities from New York to Chicago to Los Angeles, protesting Trump’s actions while in office, in the largest such actions since his return to power in January.

Earlier in the day, a gunman assassinated a Democratic lawmaker and wounded another in Minnesota and remained at large.

Meanwhile, Israel and Iran exchanged further attacks early on Sunday, stoking fears of a mushrooming conflict between the two nations.

All of it followed a week of tension in Los Angeles, where protests over federal immigration raids resulted in Trump calling in National Guard troops and U.S. Marines to help keep the peace, over the objections of the state’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom.

The parade, which fell on Trump’s 79th birthday, kicked off earlier than expected with thunderstorms forecast in the Washington area.

Tanks, armored personnel carriers and artillery rumbled down the parade route along storied Constitution Avenue, an unusual sight in the U.S. where such displays of military might are rare.

“Every other country celebrates their victories, it’s about time America did too,” Trump told the crowd following the parade.

Thousands of spectators lined up along the route. Trump watched the proceedings from an elevated viewing stand behind bulletproof glass.

Some of the president’s opponents also managed to find a spot along the parade route, holding signs in protest. Other demonstrators were kept separate from the parade crowd by local police.

The U.S. Army has brought nearly 7,000 troops into Washington, along with 150 vehicles, including more than 25 M1 Abrams tanks, 28 Stryker armored vehicles, four Paladin self-propelled artillery vehicles, and artillery pieces including the M777 and M119.

    ARMY’S HISTORY

The parade traced the history of the Army from its founding during the Revolutionary War through modern day. Trump frequently stood and saluted troops as they marched by.

Members of Trump’s cabinet including Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio looked on.

Trump had first expressed interest in a military parade in Washington early in his first 2017-2021 term in office.

In 1991, tanks and thousands of troops paraded through Washington to celebrate the ousting of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s forces from Kuwait in the Gulf War.

The celebrations were expected to cost the U.S. Army between $25 million and $45 million, U.S. officials have told Reuters. That includes the parade itself as well as the cost of moving equipment and housing and feeding the troops.

Critics have called the parade an authoritarian display of power that is wasteful, especially given Trump has said he wants to slash costs throughout the federal government.

Bryan Henrie, a Trump supporter, flew in from Texas to celebrate the Army’s anniversary and did not see any issues with tanks rolling down the streets of Washington.

“I don’t see a controversy. I will celebrate safety and stability any day over anarchy,” 61-year-old Henrie said.

    ‘SHAME! SHAME!’

Earlier in the day, thousands marched in Washington and other cities in protest of Trump’s policies. The demonstrations were largely peaceful, and marked the largest outpouring of opposition to Trump’s presidency since he returned to power in January.

In Los Angeles, however, the situation remained tense. About an hour before a downtown curfew, police officers mounted on horses were aggressively pushing back demonstrators, using gas, flash bangs and other less lethal munitions, causing large groups to panic and flee.

Protesters were firing what police called commercial-grade fireworks against officers, along with rocks and bottles. Some demonstrators wore gas masks and helmets and vowed to stay in the area for many more hours.

A crowd earlier had confronted soldiers guarding a federal building, yelling “Shame! Shame!” and “Marines, get out of LA!”

Anti-Trump groups planned nearly 2,000 demonstrations across the country to coincide with the parade. Many took place under the theme “No Kings,” asserting that no individual is above the law.

Thousands of people of all ages turned out in and around Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan, many carrying homemade signs that played off the “No Kings” theme. “No crown for a clown,” said one. Actor Mark Ruffalo was among the demonstrators, wearing a hat that read “immigrant.”

“We’re seeing dehumanizing language towards LGBT people, towards people with autism, towards people with other disabilities, racial minorities, undocumented people,” said Cooper Smith, 20, from upstate New York. “Somebody’s got to show that most Americans are against this.”

Protesters in downtown Chicago stood off against police on Saturday, with some waving upside-down American flags and chanting: “Who do you protect? Who do you serve?” and “No justice, no peace.”

Members of the far-right Proud Boys, ardent Trump supporters, appeared at an Atlanta “No Kings” protest, wearing the group’s distinctive black and yellow colors.

About 400 protesters, organized by a group called RefuseFascism.org, marched through Washington and gathered for a rally in a park opposite the White House. Trump had warned people against protesting at the parade itself, saying that “they’re going to be met with very big force.”

Sunsara Taylor, a founder of RefuseFascism, told the crowd, “Today we refuse to accept Donald Trump unleashing the military against the people of this country and in the streets of this country. We say, ‘Hell no.’”

  • MIL-OSI China: Iran launches new wave of attacks on Israel in response to airstrikes

Source: People’s Republic of China – State Council News

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched late Saturday night a “large-scale combined offensive operation” against Israel, involving a significant number of missiles and drones, the IRGC’s official news outlet Sepah News reported.

The IRGC’s aerospace division carried out the attack, stating it was in response to Israel’s “repeated aggressions” against Iran, according to Sepah.

In Israel, a rocket struck a residential building in a northern community, killing one woman and injuring 13 others, according to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency medical service. Several others sustained moderate to light injuries, and four individuals were treated for anxiety, MDA said.

Earlier in the day, MDA reported that at least three people had been killed and 204 others injured since the beginning of the Iranian offensive.

Following the latest wave of attacks, Israel’s Home Front Command advised residents outside the Haifa and northern regions that they could exit bomb shelters but should remain close to protected areas.

The Israeli military stated that its air defense systems were actively intercepting incoming projectiles, while Israeli air force units were carrying out strikes on military targets in Tehran.

Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum confirmed that two oil depots in Tehran were hit during the attacks. Residents reported two powerful explosions in the capital, with blasts felt in both the western and northern districts. The ministry said the situation was “under control.”

Meanwhile, Jordan temporarily closed its airspace late Saturday as a precautionary measure following the Iranian missile barrage. The country’s Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission announced that the step was taken to ensure the safety of civil aviation.

The Iranian offensive came in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes conducted early Friday, which targeted Tehran and several other cities. Iranian authorities said the Israeli strikes resulted in the deaths of multiple senior military commanders, nuclear scientists, and dozens of civilians.

  • MIL-OSI China: Smart factories power China’s green industrial transformation

Source: People’s Republic of China – State Council News

Inside an intelligent manufacturing base of Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC) in Tianjin, the scene is far removed from that of a traditional factory.

Three massive automated welding machines silently go about their work, emitting sparks but no smoke, with no workers in sight.

Instead, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and gantry cranes quietly shuttle materials to designated locations. Only a few figures holding controllers among the steel plates and pipes indicate that humans are still steering the operation.

Seated in front of two computer screens, 38-year-old Li Guochao adjusts parameters on digital work orders, operating the machines remotely with a click of the mouse. “The smart factory makes everything more efficient and cleaner,” he said.

For Li, the move from a noisy, smog-filled outdoor workspace to a cool, comfortable indoor station felt like a “miracle.” However, his experience is just one part of a broader transformation underway at the 575,000-square-meter base, which houses four intelligent workshops and is spearheading a green revolution.

China’s manufacturing sector has long been criticized for its reputation as an energy-intensive, polluting, and resource-intensive industry. But since 2012, the country has been actively shifting toward new development models, with green growth at the forefront.

In the years since, companies like COOEC have embraced energy conservation and emissions reduction as essential components of high-quality development.

At its fully operational Tianjin base, COOEC has introduced more than 600 pieces of advanced, energy-efficient, and intelligent equipment. Powered by big data and artificial intelligence, these tools enable automated cutting, grinding, assembly and welding in the prefabrication process.

Plate cutting is now 90 percent automated, and 70 percent of deck panel welding is done automatically, boosting overall productivity by more than 20 percent compared to traditional methods.

The base also developed China’s first integrated intelligent manufacturing management platform for offshore oil and gas equipment. The streamlined production process helps reduce steel usage by 10 percent.

“We hope these smart manufacturing efforts will support high-quality development in the traditionally heavy marine equipment sector,” said Wang Jinyuan, deputy general manager of COOEC’s Tianjin Intelligent Manufacturing Company.

The push aligns with China’s national goals. According to the 14th five-year plan for energy conservation and emission reduction, released by the State Council in 2022, energy consumption per unit of GDP is set to decrease by 13.5 percent by 2025. To meet these targets, manufacturers are turning to digital technology to restructure their production.

China’s booming digital economy has given manufacturers the confidence to make the leap. The country is now home to more than 30,000 basic-level smart factories, 1,200 advanced-level facilities, and over 230 at the excellence level, covering over 80 percent of major manufacturing industries. The accelerating integration of digital and real economies is driving quality and efficiency.

In 2023, China made new quality productive forces a national priority, with intelligent, high-end, and green manufacturing forming the backbone of this transformation.

At the COOEC Tianjin base, this shift is visible at every stage of the production chain, from energy to manufacturing to storage.

In the smart storage center, deputy manager Wang Xiaoli of the procurement logistics unit taps her phone. Dozens of windows swing open, and the hum of air conditioners fades. “The system detected that outdoor temperature and lighting were optimal, so it recommended shutting off air conditioners to save power,” she said.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China had cultivated 6,430 green factories as of January 2024. Since 2012, energy consumption and carbon emissions per unit of GDP have fallen by over 26 percent and 35 percent, respectively, making China one of the world’s fastest improvers in energy efficiency.

With the results of the green transformation becoming increasingly evident, China has set a new goal that by 2030, green development will underpin new industrialization, with green factory output accounting for over 40 percent of total manufacturing output.

To that end, COOEC is expanding its solar generation capacity. Building on its 1.1 million kWh annual output from rooftop photovoltaics, a second phase is underway. Once connected by the end of this year, the plant will generate 2.6 million kWh annually, covering 25 percent of its electricity needs.

“As of the end of 2024, more than 140 of our suppliers had earned green certification,” said Tang Lijun, deputy general manager of the COOEC procurement shared center. The company now incorporates green metrics into supplier rankings and has completed over 11,500 green evaluations by 2024.

“Our aim is to raise awareness and encourage suppliers to pursue green transformation and certification,” Tang said.

  • MIL-OSI Security: Hope Rowe convicted of murdering woman at child’s birthday party

Source: United Kingdom London Metropolitan Police

A woman has been convicted of murder after stabbing a woman at a child’s birthday party, following a Metropolitan Police investigation.

The jury also found her partner guilty of perverting the course of justice.

Hope Rowe, 33 (30.12.1991), of Piazza Walk, Aldgate, attacked Charlotte Lawlor, 31, with a knife at a property in Stepney Green on Sunday, 15 September, 2024. The stabbing was witnessed by some of Ms Lawlor’s family, children and guests at the party.

On Friday, 13 June, 2025, a jury at Inner London Crown Court found Rowe guilty of murder. Witness testimony and phone evidence – including an incriminating voicemail – were used by Met Police investigators to bring the defendant to justice. She was convicted in the absence of a murder weapon.

Detective Sergeant Dean Musgrove, from the Met Police’s Specialist Crime North unit, said: “Hope Rowe launched a brutal attack on Charlotte Lawlor at what should have been a joyous occasion. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends, who will have to contend not only with the loss of a loved one, but with the trauma of having witnessed the killing.

“As if the killing was not senseless enough, Rowe then tried to deceive investigators, disposing of the knife before turning herself in. It still has not been found to this day, and both Rowe and her partner were incriminated by a voicemail accidentally recorded on Rowe’s phone.”

In a statement, the victim’s parents said: “We are happy with the verdict. We would like to thank the jury for their attention during the trial.

“The family will never get over the loss and murder of Charlotte. It has destroyed us, leaving a gaping hole. Charlotte’s son, Riley, has been left without a mum, and siblings without their older sister and best friend.

“Charlotte brought light to everyone’s life.”

Leigh Holder, 38 (15.11.1986), of Piazza Walk, Aldgate, was also convicted of perverting the course of justice. Holder encouraged Rowe not to surrender to the police, and helped her dispose of the murder weapon.

Just after 01:00hrs on Sunday, 15 September, Met officers attended a property in Duckett Street, Stepney Green, following reports of a serious assault. Charlotte Lawlor – who had been attending a birthday party at the property the previous evening – had been stabbed, and was being assisted by friends and family.

After administering first aid, police were joined by a London Ambulance Service crew, but, despite the efforts of paramedics, Ms Lawlor was pronounced dead within an hour.

Having spoken to witnesses at the property, officers established that Ms Lawlor had been stabbed by Hope Rowe following an argument at the party, who then drove away from the scene with her partner, Leigh Holder.

Around 02:10hrs, Holder’s vehicle was stopped by armed police in Tower Hamlets. He told them that Rowe had jumped out of the vehicle shortly after leaving the crime scene, and claimed he had no knowledge of her location. Holder was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

At 07:00hrs, Rowe attended Bethnal Green Police Station, where she was arrested on suspicion of murder. At interview, she provided no comment – and she later claimed in court that her actions were due to a momentary loss of control.

Rowe’s phone was seized and analysed by forensic experts. A voicemail – accidentally left by Holder on Rowe’s phone while he was sitting next to her and driving away from the scene – was recovered. In the recorded conversation, Rowe told Holder that it was “good” she had killed Ms Lawlor, while Holder instructed his partner to dispose of the knife and to avoid the police.

In addition to witness evidence from those present at the scene of the murder, the voicemail proved vital in implicating both Rowe and Holder in their crimes.

Rowe and Holder will be sentenced an Inner London Crown Court on Wednesday, 9 July.

    Source: Government of India (4)

US-based Axiom Space is now set to send Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla to the International Space Station (ISS) on June 19, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said on Saturday.

Shukla’s flight, originally scheduled for June 11, was postponed multiple times due to technical observations related to the ISS’s Zvezda module. A leak had been detected in the propulsion bay during a pre-launch test.

ISRO noted that Axiom Space is working closely with NASA to assess the pressure anomaly in the Zvezda Service Module onboard the ISS.

“During a follow-on coordination meeting between ISRO, Axiom Space, and SpaceX, it was confirmed that the liquid oxygen leak observed in the Falcon 9 launch vehicle has been successfully resolved,” ISRO said in a statement.

“Axiom Space is now targeting June 19, 2025, for the launch of the Ax-04 mission,” it added.

ISRO has reiterated its commitment to mission safety and continued coordination with international partners.

The mission holds historic significance for India. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is set to become the first Indian astronaut to visit the ISS and only the second Indian in space, following Rakesh Sharma’s flight in 1984.

Shukla will serve as the pilot of the mission, alongside Commander Peggy Whitson of the United States. The other crew members include Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski of Poland and Tibor Kapu of Hungary, both serving as mission specialists.

Once aboard the ISS, Shukla will conduct pioneering experiments related to food and space nutrition. These experiments, developed in collaboration between ISRO and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), with support from NASA, aim to advance understanding of sustainable life-support systems—crucial for future long-duration space missions.

The research will also examine the effects of microgravity and space radiation on edible microalgae—nutrient-rich, high-potential food sources for space missions.

The experiments will evaluate key growth parameters and analyze transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic changes in various algal species in space, compared to their behavior on Earth.

  • MIL-OSI Africa: Zimbabwe Court Strikes Down Provisions of Repressive Law

Source: Africa Press Organisation – English (2) – Report:

    Download logo

On Wednesday, a High Court in Zimbabwe struck down provisions of the country’s Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, commonly referred to as the “Patriotic Act,” as unconstitutional.

The Patriotic Act, which President Emmerson Mnangagwa signed into law in July 2023, contains overly broad provisions that make the rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association a criminal offense.

The act created the crime of “willfully injuring the sovereignty and national interest of Zimbabwe,” which effectively criminalizes Zimbabwean civil society groups and human rights defenders who criticize the government at international forums and prohibits them from seeking external avenues for accountability for rights violations.

In its ruling, the court stated that the drastic penalties prescribed under section 22A(3) of the act, which include life imprisonment, the death penalty, termination of citizenship, and suspensions from voting and holding public office, infringed on various sections of the Zimbabwean Constitution.

Media Alliance of Zimbabwe and Zenzele Ndebele, a private citizen, who brought the case before the court, argued that section 22A(3) and other provisions had high potential for abuse and misuse. They contended that the sections had the effect of silencing dissenting voices and were therefore unfair, unnecessary, and unreasonable in a democratic society. They also said that the law did not sufficiently define what constituted “willfully injuring the sovereignty and national interest of Zimbabwe.”

When President Mnangagwa signed the bill into law, domestic and international human rights and civil society organizations, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, and Human Rights Watch, expressed concern that the law would further threaten and erode freedoms of expression and association in the country. Several other groups signed a statement calling for the repeal of the law, stating that it carried provisions “not necessary or justifiable in a democratic society.”

While striking down sections of the law as unconstitutional is a positive step, the Zimbabwe government should repeal the draconian Patriotic Act altogether, as it contains overly broad and vaguely defined provisions, such as those criminalizing participation in meetings “with the intention of promoting calls for economic sanctions against the country.” Such provisions amount to serious violations of the fundamental human rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association protected under international human rights law.

  • MIL-OSI China: Commercial exchanges fuel new momentum in China-Africa cooperation

Source: People’s Republic of China – State Council News

“Plane tickets to Africa are in high demand — there are just so many opportunities,” exclaimed Ma Bijun, deputy general manager of Hunan Er-Kang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., who has been busy preparing to launch a new pharmaceutical factory in Tanzania this year.

A regular traveler between China and Africa, Ma is often surprised by the increasing number of passengers on these routes. To him, it’s a clear sign of deepening economic and commercial exchanges between the Chinese and African peoples.

Since its launch in 2019, the Guangzhou-Changsha-Nairobi route operated by China Southern Airlines has transported over 227,000 passengers and now maintains three regular weekly flights. To meet rising demand during the peak travel season, the airline also plans to open a direct Nairobi-Guangzhou route this summer.

This vibrant interaction has broadened the scope of China-Africa economic and commercial cooperation, bringing fresh vitality to friendly relations.

In just three days, Kenyan coffee beans can now reach Changsha, capital of central China’s Hunan Province, infusing their unique aroma into Gaoqiao Grand Market. As flagship agricultural products, African coffees are enjoying a boom, with imports to China rising 70.4 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2025.

At the African Coffee Trade Center in Gaoqiao, the “Own Master” brand offers over 30 beverages made from Ethiopian, Kenyan and other African coffee beans.

“Today, we connect directly with coffee producers in Africa via online platforms, which streamlines the process and lowers overall costs,” said brand manager Jing Jianhua. He said the company’s imports of green coffee beans from Africa rose 30 percent last year compared to the previous year.

Beyond traditional sectors, new players are injecting a “green wave” into China-Africa cooperation. With sustainable development gaining traction across Africa, China’s exports of new energy vehicles, lithium batteries and photovoltaic products to Africa in 2023 surged by 291 percent, 109 percent and 57 percent year on year, respectively.

“These are the 100 new energy vehicles I ordered from China — they’re incredibly popular in Dakar,” said Tirera Sourakhata, a Senegalese entrepreneur who founded a ride-hailing company using new energy vehicles in the capital.

“Seeing China’s streets filled with new energy vehicles makes me hope for the same in Senegal,” he said. He believed these vehicles would not only reduce costs and create jobs but also be more environmentally friendly.

Sourakhata has been living and doing business in Yiwu, a bustling trade hub in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province, for over 20 years. From his first hardware purchase there, he was impressed by the quality and price of “Made in China” goods, and has witnessed the flourishing of China-Africa trade firsthand.

At his company’s showroom in Yiwu, thousands of products are on display, including photovoltaic panels, solar streetlamps, consumer goods and household appliances. The company’s annual exports to Africa have grown from just a few dozen containers to over 4,000 today. “That number will only keep growing,” Sourakhata said.

Chinese e-commerce models are also making headway in Africa. Regarded as a high-potential market, the continent shows strong momentum.

“Livestreaming lets us attract wide audiences and better understand their needs in real time,” said Nancy Kariuki, an influencer on Kilimall, a major East African e-commerce platform, whose livestream often draws over 10,000 views per day, an impressive figure in the region.

Kariuki pointed out that everything from electronics to clothing and footwear is just a click away. “E-commerce hasn’t just transformed the way people shop, it has also opened up new job opportunities for the local population,” she explained.

Since its launch in Africa in 2014, Kilimall has garnered over 10 million registered users and more than 4 million goods for sale. Modeled after Chinese e-commerce sites, Kilimall’s localized operations have generated tens of thousands of jobs.

Other Chinese e-commerce giants like Alibaba, Shein and Pinduoduo have also entered the African market, building a robust “digital bridge” between the two sides.

With increasing private-sector engagement, the overall trade volume between China and Africa is expanding. According to data released in early June by the General Administration of Customs of China, trade with African countries hit a record high in the first five months of this year, increasing 12.4 percent year on year to 963.21 billion yuan (134 billion U.S. dollars).

  • MIL-OSI Russia: Irkeshtam checkpoint shows new vitality in trade cooperation between China and Central Asia

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: People’s Republic of China in Russian – People’s Republic of China in Russian –

Source: People’s Republic of China – State Council News

URUMQI, June 14 (Xinhua) — Trucks loaded with “Made in China” products such as NEV cars, yachts, electromechanical equipment passed through the Irkeshtam port on the China-Kyrgyzstan border in early June, while trucks from Kyrgyzstan also lined up to enter China. Irkeshtam, China’s westernmost land port, has seen booming trade between China and Central Asia.

The Irkeshtam border crossing is located in Ucha County of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (Northwest China) and approximately 200 km from Kyrgyzstan’s Osh Region.

According to data as of June 4, since the beginning of 2025, the total volume of passenger traffic through the Irkeshtam checkpoint and the number of vehicles that have passed customs and border checks in both directions at this border crossing amounted to more than 109 thousand person-times and 102 thousand units, respectively, which is approximately 80 percent more in annual terms for both indicators.

“Currently, the efficiency of customs clearance has increased significantly, and the volume of transportation and cargo has also increased,” said Vokibek Ashim, a customs broker who has been working at the Irkeshtam checkpoint for 13 years.

On June 1, the Irkeshtam checkpoint officially launched a trial 24/7 customs clearance regime /24 hours a day, 7 days a week/. Thus, Irkeshtam became the second border checkpoint in Xinjiang to ensure continuous operation in the area of customs clearance of goods, following the Khorgos checkpoint.

This regime has increased the efficiency of customs clearance and reduced costs for local transport companies.

After the continuous operation mode was implemented, the volume of coal imported from Kyrgyzstan increased from “one batch per day” to “three batches in two days,” said Chen Tao, an employee of a local coal transportation company. “The efficiency has improved and the import cost has actually decreased,” he added.

The efficient operation of the checkpoint has brought tangible benefits to both Central Asians and Chinese residents.

“Cross-border transportation makes my life better and better,” said Gao Pengshan, who has been driving trucks with NEVs between China and Uzbekistan for years. And Uzbek driver Sardorbek Khamidov’s monthly income has jumped from more than 3,000 yuan to nearly 10,000 yuan.

“The continuous customs clearance regime gives me confidence in cross-border transportation between Uzbekistan and China,” said Sardorbek Khamidov, adding that it will also allow a greater range of high-quality agricultural products from Uzbekistan to enter the Chinese market.

In the port area, at an altitude of over 2,800 meters above sea level, construction is underway on a new border and customs complex. This state-of-the-art facility, expected to open in 2026, will take customs clearance potential between China and Central Asia to new heights.

“The checkpoint is no longer just a cargo channel. Every truck that passes through the checkpoint is a witness to the aspiration of the people of the two countries for a better life,” said checkpoint employee Irkeshtam Van Ping. -0-

  • MIL-OSI USA: Norton Says Trump Parade Will Shut Down the Nation’s Capital and Waste Taxpayer Dollars to Feed the President’s Ego

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (District of Columbia)

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today released a statement regarding President Trump’s military parade in the District of Columbia, scheduled for tomorrow. Each year, Norton secures a federal payment to the District to cover emergency planning and security costs of large-scale events and demonstrations, including the presidential inauguration.

“President Trump’s longstanding wish to waste millions of taxpayer dollars for a performative military parade in the style of authoritarian leaders is finally coming true on his birthday,” Norton said. “Granting his wish comes at D.C.’s expense, which will be forced to shoulder the cost of repairing the damage that dozens of military vehicles will do to local D.C. roads with an uncertain timeline for reimbursement from the federal government, if any. D.C. will also have to cope with their roads being shut down for up to four days, creating obstacles for D.C. residents seeking to go about their daily lives.

“Although this parade will feed President Trump’s ego and perhaps his base, it will not serve any legitimate purpose. It’s all the more objectionable for its timing, coming after President Trump authorized the firing, buyout, or early retirement of roughly 260,000 federal workers in the name of cutting waste.

“The world knows that the American military is the most powerful in the world. Unlike less powerful nations, the United States has no need to show off by strutting our soldiers and equipment to prove our strength and leadership. Instead of wasting precious taxpayer resources, we should celebrate the military by using the estimated tens of millions of dollars devoted to the parade to rehire the federal workers who performed valuable services for American taxpayers, including service members and veterans.”

  • MIL-OSI USA: Restoring Access to Arkansas Campgrounds

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04)

Whether you’re camping or floating along the Buffalo National River, fishing for bass on Lake Ouachita, or hiking rugged trails for scenic views at Hawksbill Crag, the state of Arkansas, and the Fourth District, is a haven for all who enjoy spending their free time outdoors. The Natural State boasts some of the most unique, historic, and scenic outdoor opportunities in the country. As an avid outdoorsman, it is a great honor to represent a portion of this state in Congress and advocate for commonsense, conservative legislation that promotes our state’s natural beauty – conserving it for generations to come.

This week solemnly marks the fifteenth anniversary of the catastrophic flood which struck the Albert Pike campgrounds on the Little Missouri River in remote Montgomery County, Arkansas on June 11, 2010. Twenty people lost their lives in this tragedy – children, parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends, all looking to enjoy some time away in the outdoors. Each of these individuals who lost their lives in this tragic flooding incident are still remembered today, and they will certainly never be forgotten.

Many native Arkansans will tell you that an honored pastime is enjoying the overnight campgrounds at the Albert Pike Recreation Area. Social media pages were even created to memorialize the joy camping at these sites have brought to generations of Arkansans as well as citizens from other states enjoying our beautiful Arkansas federal lands – encouraging members to post about stories or pictures from memorable experiences. This community of support is why, when the U.S. Forest Service suspended overnight camping following the flooding, limiting the use of the recreation area to daytime use, many Arkansans expressed their dismay at the news that their overnight camping experiences would be put on hold.

Following the closures, scores of tourists and locals urged legislators at the local, state, and federal levels to reopen the campgrounds. It became clear that federal action was needed to restore access and provide opportunities for locals and tourists to enjoy this beloved area once again. That’s why it was an honor to introduce the EXPLORE Act, a bipartisan piece of legislation aiming to improve outdoor recreation opportunities and access to public lands across the country – including the Albert Pike Recreation Area.

Within the EXPLORE Act, there were several measures directly impacting the Albert Pike Recreation Area such as safely reopening any existing campsites located outside of the 100-year flood plain, which is the land area with a 1% chance of flooding annually. In addition to these openings, the bill instructs the finding of fifty-four areas that could be suitable for overnight camping and establishing at least twenty-seven brand new overnight camping locations outside of the designated 100-year flood plain, with access to electricity and water, all to ensure the rehabilitation necessary to make publicly accessible areas available year-round.

As we head into the summer months, there is no doubt Arkansans will be taking advantage of the Natural State’s abundant outdoor recreation opportunities. Serving friends and family across the Fourth District is the honor of a lifetime, and I will undoubtedly continue to work to expand access to outdoor recreation from hiking and biking trails, to camping, and boating – connecting Arkansans deeper to the land they love so dearly.

  • MIL-OSI USA: Congressman Crow Recognizes Army Birthday, Opposes President Trump’s Vanity Parade

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06)

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO-06) led his congressional colleagues in sending a letter to the Trump administration to recognize the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and raise serious questions about how much the President’s upcoming military parade will cost and impact readiness. The letter was signed by Crow, Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA-06), and 18 other members.

“We fully support commemorating the Army’s founding. However, the size, scope, and execution of the upcoming 250th Birthday Parade in Washington, D.C., raise serious concerns, at a time when the Army faces severe budget constraints, and the Trump administration is supposedly focused on reducing unnecessary government spending,” the letter reads.

“Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to our troops who put on the uniform. The Army’s 250th birthday is an important milestone worthy of recognition, but President Trump is doing it wrong. We should not be pulling thousands of troops away from their training and their families so the President can boost his ego. Spending tens of millions of taxpayer dollars on Donald Trump’s vanity parade, at the same time this administration is firing veterans and cutting the VA, is wrong,” said Congressman Crow.

Estimates say this parade will cost upwards of $45 million, and could require millions to repair the streets. Over 6,600 soldiers will be brought in from around the country to participate in this weekend’s event. Additionally, hundreds of ground equipment and aircraft will be moved from strategic positions around the country to D.C. for this event, potentially impacting military readiness. The president has long desired a personal military parade, and will come at the taxpayer expense while this administration claims it is prioritizing rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse.

A PDF of the letter can be found here, with full text appearing below:

    June 11, 2025

    Dear Secretary Driscoll,

We are excited to celebrate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States Army. Since its founding on June 14, 1775, the Army has served as a bedrock of American strength—defending liberty and responding to crises around the world. As Members of Congress, we join the nation in honoring this extraordinary legacy and the soldiers who uphold it.

We fully support commemorating the Army’s founding. However, the size, scope, and execution of the upcoming 250th Birthday Parade in Washington, D.C., raise serious concerns, at a time when the Army faces severe budget constraints, and the Trump administration is supposedly focused on reducing unnecessary government spending. Given President Trump’s longstanding personal desire for a military parade, we have important questions about the pressure that may have been put on the Army to plan a far more militaristic parade with greater cost and operational impact than the Army would have independently chosen.

We also have important questions regarding the cost, funding, operational justification, and the treatment of participating troops. Cutting costs at the margin by not serving soldiers hot meals, while sending dozens of unnecessary armored vehicles, does not prioritize the troops and is irresponsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. A celebration of this magnitude must reflect our principles: respect for service, fiscal responsibility, and a clear-eyed view of readiness.

To that end, we request your response to the following:

    Funding Sources

    • What is the total estimated cost of the parade?
    • What is the estimated cost for each unit participating? Please provide sources of funding for personnel transportation, lodging, meals, equipment transport, and other associated costs for each participating unit.

    Troop Accommodation

    • Why are soldiers being housed on cots in federal office buildings instead of standard military or contracted lodging? How much money does this save compared to housing them in hotels?
    • Why are soldiers being provided MREs for breakfast and lunch, with only one hot dinner meal each day?
    • How much money is the Army saving by only having one hot meal per day as opposed to three?

    Readiness Impact

    • Are any of the participating units currently preparing for, or recently returned from, an operational deployment?
    • What measures are being taken to ensure that participation in this event does not disrupt training schedules, pre-deployment certification, or force availability?

    Use of Heavy Equipment

    • Who requested or ordered the inclusion of tanks and other heavy armored vehicles in the parade? When was this request made, and what were the details of the request?
    • What operational or ceremonial purpose does the participation of 24 of the same vehicle serve, as opposed to including just two or four of each vehicle type?
    • How much of the total cost of the parade is due to the requirements associated with including these armored vehicles?

    Infrastructure and Mitigation

    • What steps are being taken to predict and prevent potential damage to roads and other infrastructure in Washington, D.C.?
    • Has the Army assessed the cost of any potential damage, and who will bear those costs?
    • Will the Army conduct the repairs? If yes, how quickly do you expect to be able to do so?

    White House Involvement

    • Has the White House played any role in the planning or direction of this event? If so, please provide a detailed description of the extent and nature of that involvement.

This anniversary should unite the country around the shared sacrifice and service of our military—not distract from the Army’s core mission or become a partisan spectacle. We ask that your office provide answers to the above questions and share any relevant planning materials, budget justifications, and interagency communications by June 26th, 2025.

Thank you for your leadership, and for your continued commitment to the men and women of the United States Army.

  • MIL-OSI USA: Scalise Highlights America First Rescissions Package

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Steve Scalise (1st District of Louisiana)

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) spoke on the House floor before the passage of the Rescissions Act of 2025, which codifies President Trump’s DOGE cuts to root out waste, fraud, and abuse from federal overspending. Leader Scalise emphasized that Democrats’ ‘no’ vote is a vote to prioritize far-left foreign programs over lowering inflation, paying down our debt, and strengthening social services for Americans.

Click here or the image above to view Leader Scalise’s full remarks.
Leader Scalise’s remarks:“I thank my friend, our conference chair, Ms. McClain, for managing this time on this important bill. Mr. Speaker, a lot of people come up here and they talk about trying to get America’s fiscal house in order, about the idea of getting back to balanced federal budgets. I don’t know many people here who are against it. I know when we later in this Congress put a bill on the floor to require a balanced federal budget, there will be many Democrats, Mr. Speaker, who will vote no on that, because when it comes time to actually put your votes on the board to back up the principles that most Americans relish, they walk away. They won’t be there when it actually matters. Everybody could talk about cutting wasteful spending. Even if you don’t necessarily agree that it’s wasteful spending, and what we’re bringing today is wasteful spending, but even if you think, ‘Okay, might not be as bad as some other things you don’t agree with,’ we all have to agree, Mr. Speaker, that as we just saw a few weeks ago, Moody’s downgraded the credit rating of the United States. Wasn’t a recommendation, Mr. Speaker. Wasn’t a warning that, gee whiz, if you folks don’t get your fiscal house in order, this might happen. They actually did it. They downgraded the credit rating in the United States because spending has to get under control. The party over there that spent the last four years under President Biden spending like drunken sailors, and all due respect to drunken sailors, because they don’t spend this bad. But the trillions of dollars of debt that were racked up had consequences, Mr. Speaker. “It had consequences not only in terms of our national debt, it affected the pocketbooks of families all across America because that spending, bloated spending in Washington, money we don’t have, by the way, increased inflation to the point where people couldn’t even go to the grocery store to fill up their carts. They couldn’t afford to go to the gas station to fill up their cars. They couldn’t afford to take out a loan to buy a house because interest rates had gotten so high that today we’re spending more money servicing our interest than we are on America’s national debt. These are all real, dramatic facts that concern most Americans. They say, thank goodness, Congress is finally bringing a bill to the floor to start cutting some spending that aren’t priorities. Call it wasteful if you want, call it whatever you want, but these aren’t things that we can afford to spend, even if you agree with them. Because it’s not money we have in the bank. It’s all borrowed money, Mr. Speaker. And so, where did we start? “Well, the White House laid out a number of things. They looked at that USAID program – they didn’t gut the whole thing, but they said there are a number of things that are being done that just don’t represent the values of the United States. And are being done in foreign countries while we don’t have our fiscal house in order here in America. So, how about we start there? I know the Democrats on the other side are acting like, ‘Oh, my God, the world’s going to stop spinning on its axis if this spending goes away.’ So why don’t we talk about some of the spending that will go away? Again, borrowed money, not money we just took out of the bank, money we borrowed from countries like China to spend on that is a debt to our kids. Each one of these I list, Mr. Speaker, you should ask, if you vote ‘yes,’ you’re finally relieving that debt burden. But if you vote ‘no,’ you think it’s okay to send this bill to our kids. “We’re not paying for it today, Mr. Speaker, but our kids would if we keep doing it. If the other side votes ‘no,’ they want to keep borrowing money from our children to spend a million dollars on voter ID in Haiti. The same party that doesn’t want voter ID in America – calls it racist – wants to fund voter ID in Haiti. $6 million for net-zero cities in Mexico. I know some of their best supporters are waving a Mexican flag at an American city right now, and they support those efforts. Most Americans don’t, Mr. Speaker. “$3 million for Iraqi Sesame Street. The minority leader held up a Sesame Street character here on the floor as if Sesame Street somehow is going to go away. I was just watching a commercial on TV yesterday where the Cookie Monster was actually doing an advertisement for Netflix because a private company is paying money to run Sesame Street. It’s not going away. It’s doing just fine. Very lucrative. What will go away is some of the far-left radical views that are being espoused. By the way, when this goes away at NPR, you can still turn on about six or seven other channels and get the same far-left radical views, but they’re all going to be private companies, Mr. Speaker, not taxpayer-funded entities. If somebody wants to pay money to go on one of their services that they stream or get over the top, or however they get their digital content, they can still do that. And there are a lot of options. Never been more options. Some people joke that they buy their services for their cable or whatever else they get, and that there’s 200 channels, and they might only watch four or five of them. There is still going to be a plethora of options for the American people. But if they’re paying their hard-earned dollars to go get content, why should your tax dollars go to only one thing that the other side wants to promote? Let everybody compete on a fair basis. They can still watch Sesame Street in Iraq, but let the Iraqi people pay for it, not the taxpayers of the United States of America’s children. “Today’s taxpayers aren’t paying for it because it’s all borrowed money. $2.1 million for climate resilience in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and East Africa. Five hundred thousand for electric buses in Rwanda. Rwanda is more than free to go buy all the electric buses they want or diesel buses. Why should the taxpayers of America be borrowing money from our children to buy electric buses for Rwanda? $33,000 for being LGBTQI in the Caribbean. Taxpayer money that a ‘no’ vote today says is more important than strengthening a program like Social Security. I say not. $643,000 for LGBTQI+ programs in the Western Balkans. Borrowed money. $567,000, Mr. Speaker, for LGBTQI+ programs in Uganda. $5.1 million to strengthen the ‘resilience of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer global movement.’ Not sure what that global movement is. They can continue that movement in some other way, but just not with the taxpayer dollars of the United States of America’s children. Again, there’s no bank account that $5.1 million came out of. It’s all borrowed money that a ‘no’ vote says is more important than strengthening Social Security. $135 million in contributions to the World Health Organization, which we all saw during COVID, was the mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party. I would imagine if we stopped this $135 million funding, the CCP may pick it up because they were regurgitating their talking points during COVID. “At some point, Mr. Speaker, the question we’ve all got to answer is, number one, do you believe in fiscal responsibility? Maybe some people have other priorities than these they’d like to defund. But if you think these are all things that are worth borrowing money from our children to fund, then that’s what the ‘no’ vote represents. If you think it’s time we start somewhere, here’s the place to start, not to finish, just the beginning, to finally start getting control over spending and respecting those families who are working hard, who are working two shifts at the diner to pay taxes on tips that will soon go away if our One Big Beautiful Bill passes. Or somebody who’s working overtime because you want to send your kid to college, and you find out this is where your taxpayer dollars are going, and you’re disgusted and say, ‘When will somebody do something about it?’ Today’s the day to do something about it. Talk is cheap. Put the action on the floor. Let’s finally get control over spending in a small way. Start a bigger picture towards a balanced budget, but it starts here. Vote yes, get this done, and let’s keep moving forward to strengthen this great country. With that, I urge a yes vote and yield back, Mr. Speaker.”

  • MIL-OSI USA: McCaul Statement on Israel’s Preemptive Strikes on Iran

Source: United States House of Representatives – Congressman Michael McCaul (10th District of Texas)

WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) — chairman emeritus of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs — released the following statement after Israel preemptively struck Iran’s nuclear program and military leadership.

“President Trump gave Iran every chance to negotiate in good faith and to dismantle their nuclear program.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu was also clear: The alternative to diplomacy would be strikes on Iran — a message he reiterated to me when I met with him this month. Unfortunately, the regime chose not to take the path of peace — to prioritize their own interests over their people’s. They brought this calamity on themselves.

“One thing is certain: Iran will not acquire a nuclear weapon, and our world is safer for it. They would be wise to come to the table and make an agreement with President Trump while the offer still stands. If they instead choose to harm U.S. troops in the region, they will once again regret it.”

“When disasters strike, SBA’s Disaster Loan Outreach Centers perform an important role by assisting small businesses and their communities,” said Chris Stallings, associate administrator of the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience at the U.S. Small Business Administration. “At these centers, our SBA specialists help business owners and residents apply for disaster loans and learn about the full range of programs available to support their recovery.”

Businesses and nonprofits are eligible to apply for business physical disaster loans and may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace disaster-damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets.

Homeowners and renters are eligible to apply for home and personal property loans and may borrow up to $100,000 to replace or repair personal property, such as clothing, furniture, cars, and appliances. Homeowners may apply for up to $500,000 to replace or repair their primary residence.

Applicants may be eligible for a loan increase of up to 20% of their physical damages, as verified by the SBA, for mitigation purposes. Eligible mitigation improvements include insulating pipes, walls and attics, weather stripping doors and windows, and installing storm windows to help protect property and occupants from future disasters.

The SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program is available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, nurseries, and private nonprofit organizations impacted by financial losses directly related to these disasters. The SBA is unable to provide disaster loans to agricultural producers, farmers, or ranchers, except for small aquaculture enterprises.

EIDLs are available for working capital needs caused by the disaster and are available even if the business or PNP did not suffer any physical damage. The loans may be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills not paid due to the disaster.

Interest rates are as low as 4% for small businesses, 3.62% for nonprofits, and 2.75% for homeowners and renters with terms up to 30 years. Interest does not begin to accrue, and payments are not due until 12 months from the date of the first loan disbursement. The SBA determines eligibility and sets loan amounts and terms based on each applicant’s financial condition.

To apply online, visit sba.gov/disaster. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance. For people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, please dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.

  • MIL-OSI Australia: 20th anniversary of disappearance of Steven Williams

Source: New South Wales – News

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the disappearance of Steven Williams, a former president of the Gypsy Jokers.

Steven Williams was last seen at the Gepps Cross Hotel on the afternoon of 14 June, 2005.  His white Ford Falcon was later found abandoned in the hotel car park.

It is suspected Steven Williams was murdered.  His body has never been found, and his disappearance was declared a Major Crime.

In late 2005, a call was made to Crime Stoppers which led police to searching a trucking company at Gillman.

It is believed that Mr Williams, a debt collector, was dropped at Gillman by an associate – most likely to collect money from someone who worked there.

It is likely his body was removed from the business in the rear of a white utility – covered by a tarpaulin – seen parked in a street adjacent to the property later the same day.

Despite extensive searches over the years, no trace of him has ever been found.

Steven Williams was 38 when he went missing, leaving behind a young daughter.

Major Crime detectives believe this case is solvable; and that there are people who know exactly what happened to Steven Williams.

Detective Sergeant Paul Ward, Major Crime Investigation Branch, said, “Despite the code of silence in outlaw motorcycle gangs, we have received information over the past 20 years regarding the circumstances of Steve’s disappearance, as well as potential burial sites.

“Over the last 20 years, friendships and loyalties may have changed.  People are 20 years older, they may now have children of their own.  I ask them to put themselves in Blayze Williams’ position, growing up not knowing what happened to her father.

“For the sake of the Steven Williams’ family, if you have information, please contact Crime Stoppers and help find his remains and bring him home to his family.”

A $200,000 reward is still on offer for information that leads to a conviction, or the recovery of Steven Williams’ remains.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au – you can remain anonymous.

  • MIL-OSI Security: Pierce County man charged with illegally possessing ammunition as part of an investigation over threats to detonate a bomb

Source: Office of United States Attorneys

Defendant allegedly sent a ‘manifesto’ in connection with anger over his father’s death some 20 years ago

Tacoma – A 46-year-old resident of Graham, Washington was charged today in U.S. District Court in Tacoma following the investigation into his threats to build a bomb and set it off in a public area, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller. David Michael Eddo was arrested yesterday and made his initial appearance on the criminal complaint charging him with illegal possession of ammunition this afternoon. He is scheduled for a detention hearing on Wednesday June 18, 2025. He remains detained at the Federal Detention Center at SeaTac.

According to the criminal complaint, Eddo is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammuniti0n because of his conviction for drive-by shooting and assault. In that 2019 case, Eddo fired multiple shots into the cab of a semi-truck that was on the I-5 exit ramp to the Port of Tacoma. He was sentenced to 26 months in prison.

In early May 2025, Eddo came to the attention of the FBI for writing a ‘manifesto’ in which he claimed to be building and deploying a bomb to get ‘justice’ for his father who died approximately 20 years ago at the Port of Tacoma. Eddo allegedly names certain people who were involved in litigation over his father’s death as targets in the manifesto.

On June 12, 2025, law enforcement searched Eddo’s Graham home and recovered various items that could be used to make an explosive device including Ammonium Perchlorate also called Potassium Nitrate. Eddo had no license to purchase, use, or store explosives.

Additionally, agents recovered two different types of ammunition. Unlawful possession of ammunition is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

The charges contained in the criminal complaint are only allegations.  A person is presumed innocent unless and until he or she is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The FBI is leading the investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Elyne Vaught.
