  • MIL-OSI Russia: NSU InterGames – a celebration of sports and spring!

    Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Novosibirsk State University – Novosibirsk State University –

InterGames is a mass sports festival that has been held for several years now as part of the famous Interweeks NSU.

The stadium traditionally gathered entire generations of active recreation enthusiasts — more than 1,700 people of all ages: students of NSU and other Novosibirsk universities, students of the SUNC and VKI, children and adults of Akademgorodok. Twenty-five sites with various interesting sports competitions and national competitions awaited them. The NSU swimming pool hosted open swimming competitions “InterPlavaniye 2025”. And fans of team sports took part in mini-football matches (18 teams) and 3×3 basketball (28 teams).

At the opening of the event, more than 100 female students performed brilliantly with an incendiary composition on the steps, athletes of various types of martial arts and the national team of sports aerobics demonstrated their skills.

All the contests and competitions were bright and memorable, the most popular was “Volleyball” with a huge inflatable ball, in which 570 people tried their hand. Also of great interest were the contests: “Caterpillar”, “Pants for three”, “Darts”, “Artist” and, of course, “Hobbyhorsing” – 400-500 people participated in each of them.

The most active participants were rewarded with memorable gifts; in the end, more than 200 people who took part in at least 15 different competitions received prizes.

The Department of Physical Education thanks all the participants, organizers, teachers and student volunteers who helped to hold such a grand celebration.

  • Ronaldo tops Forbes’ list of highest-paid athletes for third year in a row

    Source: Government of India

    Source: Government of India (2)

ristiano Ronaldo topped Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid athletes for the third consecutive year and the fifth time in his career.

Following his move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, Ronaldo’s estimated total earnings are around $275 million.

The Portuguese forward increased his income by $15 million through off-field endorsements as well as lucrative sponsorship deals backed by his large social media followers: 939 million in total as of May.

Meanwhile, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who in March became the first NBA player to reach 4,000 career three-pointers, jumped to second place in the rankings with $156 million.

Boxer Tyson Fury claimed third place with $146 million. Despite losing his world heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk in December, Fury’s income has been boosted by partnerships promoting Maltese tourism and his Netflix reality show.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, reached fourth with $137 million, thanks to record-breaking signing bonuses and a lucrative contract extension.

Meanwhile, Argentine Lionel Messi dropped to fifth place with $135 million — the same as last year — having moved to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami, as well as continuing to receive high-profile endorsements from Adidas and Apple.

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, nearing the end of his illustrious career, came sixth with $133.8 million.

MLB New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto came in at a remarkable seventh place, earning $114 million. The 26-year-old Dominican signed a $765 million, 15-year contract, the largest in baseball history.

French striker Karim Benzema, who plays for Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad, is eighth with earnings of $104 million.

Japanese Shohei Ohtani is in ninth place with $102.5 million, having deferred most of his earnings from his mega-contract with MLB team Los Angeles Dodgers. His earnings were boosted significantly by their World Series victory last year.

NBA Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant rounds off the top 10 with $101.4 million.

  • Cricket West Indies calls for inclusive pathways to Olympic participation

    Source: Government of India

    Source: Government of India (4)

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has formally written to the International Cricket Council (ICC), urging that the unique structure of West Indies cricket be fairly considered in ongoing discussions with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding qualification for cricket at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Unlike other Olympic participants, the West Indies represents a collective of sovereign Caribbean nations rather than a single country. With T20 cricket set to debut at the 2028 Games, CWI has raised concerns about how its teams will be accommodated under current Olympic eligibility rules, which only allow participation by independent nations.

In its communication, CWI proposed two inclusive and practical qualification models that would allow Caribbean nations, with strong Olympic traditions, to participate in line with the values and requirements of the Olympic Charter.

CWI President Dr. Kishore Shallow made an emphatic appeal for fairness and inclusion:
“The Caribbean has always punched above its weight at the Olympics, inspiring the world with our athletic brilliance. Cricket’s return to the Games in 2028 must not exclude our young cricketers from the same dream that has long inspired our athletes. The Olympic Charter champions fairness, transparency, and universality. We ask only that these principles be reflected not just in words, but in action. West Indies cricket must have a pathway and fully deserves the opportunity to compete.”

CWI’s appeal comes amid concerns that, under current Olympic rules, the West Indies men’s and women’s cricket teams would be ineligible for participation.

To address this, CWI has recommended two potential pathways:

    1. Internal Qualification Model: If the West Indies men’s or women’s teams meet ICC Olympic qualification criteria, a tournament among Olympic-affiliated Caribbean nations could determine which country will represent the region at the Games.
    2. Expanded Global Qualification Pathway: A revised qualification system that includes associate ICC members across the five ICC Development Regions, along with the individual member countries of the West Indies.

In its proposal, CWI cites the Olympic Charter’s Bye-law to Rule 40, which requires qualification systems to be “fair and transparent” and to promote universal representation, equal access, and the inclusion of top athletes from all regions.

CWI reaffirmed its commitment to constructive dialogue with the ICC and expressed readiness to collaborate on a qualification framework that upholds Olympic values while recognizing the unique composition of Caribbean cricket.

The 37-year-old missed the team’s March qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil due to an adductor injury but has since returned to action for his club Inter Miami.

Albiceleste manager Lionel Scaloni also recalled Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho and Strasbourg left-back Valentin Barco, who were both overlooked for the previous matches.

But there was no place in the preliminary 28-man squad for Roma forward Paulo Dybala or River Plate defenders Marcos Acuna and German Pezzella.

Argentina will meet Chile in Santiago on June 5 and Colombia in Buenos Aires five days later.

The reigning World Cup and Copa America champion currently leads the 10-team South American World Cup qualifying group with 31 points from 14 games.

The top six teams will earn an automatic spot at football’s showpiece tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada next year. The seventh-ranked side will advance to an intercontinental playoff.

  • MIL-OSI: TruGolf Reports First Quarter 2025 Financial Results Q1 2025 Sales Grow 7.5% Over Q1 2024

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

Salt Lake City, Utah, May 15, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TruGolf Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRUG), a leading provider of golf simulator software and hardware, announced today its first quarter 2025 results.  The Company reported sales of $5.4 million, up 7.5% compared to 2024 first quarter sales of $5.0 million. Net losses doubled to ($2.6) million for 2025’s first quarter, versus a net loss of ($1.3) million in the 2024 period, driven largely by recognition of interest expenses associated with the conversion of convertible notes in the period.  EPS for 2025’s first quarter was ($0.09), an improvement from 2024’s ($0.22) loss per share.

Chief Executive Officer and Director Chris Jones said, “2025 got off to a solid start and we expect the sales cadence to improve over the course of the year, driven by new product introductions. Management’s attention has also focused on addressing the previously reported Nasdaq listing deficiencies.  The Company has announced a plan that will significantly reduce debt on its balance sheet and increase shareholder equity.  This plan has been presented at a Nasdaq Listing Qualifications hearing on May 15th and we expect to receive their determination in the near term.”

Mr. Jones continued, “We look forward to further growth in the business as we continue to innovate in creating the best virtual golf ecosystem in the market.  We expect the first franchise locations to open over the next 90 days, with the associated delivery of TruGolf hardware and software solutions.  We are optimistic that new products expected to launch in the coming months will be well received.”

    Operations:

Gross margin for 2025’s first quarter improved to 68.0% as compared to 61.0% in 2024’s quarter.  2025’s loss from operations was 30.7% higher at ($1.2) million as compared to ($0.9) million in 2024.  2025 operating expenses increased by 22.5% or $0.9 million, driven by higher SG&A costs arising from higher third-party installation expenses, increased marketing costs and higher professional fees.

Interest expense jumped by $1.1 million as $1.7 million in principal amount of convertible notes and their$1.1 million associated accrued and make-whole interest converted to shares and their full interest costs were recognized in the conversion period.  Cash flow used in operations was approximately $0.5 million in the first quarter of 2025, versus generation of $2.7 million in 2024’s quarter, with the difference resulting from a growth in inventory in the 2025 period, as well as the greater net loss for the period.

  • MIL-OSI China: ITTF chief outlines vision for global table tennis

Source: People’s Republic of China – State Council News

Seeking her second term as International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) president, Petra Sorling has outlined her vision for the sport’s development in the coming years, especially after the inclusion of the mixed team event at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Sorling will vie for the ITTF presidency with Mohamed El Hacen Ahmed Salem and Khalil Al-Mohannadi. Her manifesto outlines the future of table tennis built on three key pillars – sharing the benefits of growth with members and where it matters most; securing the ITTF’s place as a leading International Federation; and shaping the future with strategic investments in table tennis.

President of International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Petra Sorling is seen during the kick-off ceremony of the 2022 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals in Chengdu, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, Sept. 30, 2022. (Xinhua/Liu Xu)

As the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board in April approved the inclusion of the mixed team event for the 2028 Olympics, Sorling is seeking to position table tennis among the top eight sports in the Olympic program, along with those including athletics, football and basketball.

In an interview with international news agencies on Thursday, the ITTF chief said she had wanted to increase the number of Olympic table tennis events ever since she was president of the Swedish table tennis association.

“Sweden put forward a proposition in the 2021 [ITTF] AGM to have some kind of mixed [team] world championships, and the congress said this is very interesting and let’s start it,” she recalled.

“Then I went to my friends in the Chinese Table Tennis Association and discussed it with them, and how this could happen, and it ended up that we created a Mixed Team World Cup.”

After gaining success in the past two editions of the tournament in Chengdu, the IOC gave the green light for the mixed team event to be included in the Olympic program.

“We could see in Chengdu how the teams were cooperating much better, not only playing together, but also planning the game together and cooperating in a different way. It was really gender equality in reality, not just on paper,” she noted.

“I would actually put my head forward and say that the Mixed Team World Cup makes our member associations put priority and resources on female table tennis.”

Sorling admitted that the inclusion of the mixed team event at LA28 “went much faster than I expected,” while saying it is “a very good proof of concept from the cooperation that we did with the Mixed Team World Cup in Chengdu and from the proposition from 2021.”

“LA28 will be a new milestone when this event is an Olympic event,” she said.

Sorling also noted that she and IOC president-elect Kirsty Coventry shared the same athlete-centered view.

“Kirsty has such a good background being a very decorated athlete herself, but not coming from the International Federation (IF) perspective, very much where I’m coming from. She has so much to contribute with the athletes’ point of view, and in table tennis, we also put the athletes first in everything that we are trying to do.”

“I believe that I can also help her on the IF perspective to take a bigger part in the presentation of our sport, so that we can engage more with the fans. That is where our cooperation can really increase the level of our game,” she said.

Asked about her expectations for the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals in Doha, which will kick off on Saturday, Sorling said she expected a thrilling competition, but was wary of making any predictions.

“Just some weeks ago in Macao, Brazil’s Hugo Calderano won the men’s singles title. I would say it will be very hard for anyone to beat China’s number one and two in the men’s singles,” she remarked. “Table tennis is a mental game, it’s all about the preparation into all the details and the tactics, so it’s for the athletes to focus on the game itself.”

“I’m very excited about the event. I do believe we will see some surprises, but I’m not the one to predict how it will go,” she grinned.

“I only can say there was big energy in the venue earlier today when the practice started, and we will have the opening ceremony on Saturday, and then the game is on,” Sorling concluded.

  • MIL-OSI Canada: Day of Ceremony and Action: May 15 is Moose Hide Pin Day

Source: Government of Canada regional news

    Released on May 15, 2025

Today, Members of the Legislative Assembly, along with Saskatchewan public service employees will wear moose hide pins to observe the annual Moose Hide Campaign, an Indigenous-led, grassroots movement that has evolved to engage Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to end violence against women and children in Canada.

“Throughout Canada, moose hide has become a symbol of taking a stand against violence,” Minister Responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs Eric Schmalz said. “By wearing the moose hide pin, we not only demonstrate our stand against violence but our public commitment to end it and protect our mothers, daughters, sisters and friends.”

“The Moose Hide Campaign stands as a commitment to honour the women and children in our lives,” Minister Responsible for the Status of Women Alana Ross said. “Together, through awareness, education and action, we can create a future free from violence – a future where women, girls and all Saskatchewan people are safe, healthy and prosperous.”

It started in 2011, when father and daughter Paul and Raven Lacerte were hunting moose along the Highway of Tears in northern BC. Hunting moose is a grounding tradition on their ancestral land that passes knowledge from one generation to the other. The gift of the moose hide is seen as healing medicine that connects all who wear the pins to the land, culture and to each other. For more information, visit: https://moosehidecampaign.ca/.

Observing and promoting the Moose Hide Campaign demonstrates the Government of Saskatchewan’s commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action and the Calls for Justice from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). It also supports the province’s implementation of the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence.

The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls+ (MMIWG+) Community Response Fund offers $800,000 in funding for projects and events that promote and enhance prevention and build safety for Indigenous women, girls and Two Spirit+ people. Half of the funding is provided by Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE). Saskatchewan-based groups, including grass-roots Indigenous groups, can receive up to $40,000 for their project or event.

The MMIWG+ Community Response Fund is currently accepting applications. More information, as well as the online application form, is available at saskatchewan.ca/mmiwg-fund.

  • MIL-OSI Canada: Concluding a successful spring session

[. In addition to the work in the assembly, this session saw the government advocate fiercely for a strong and sovereign Alberta within a united Canada, build and strengthen relationships with trade partners, and defend Alberta’s economy and Albertan jobs.

In the face of global trade tensions and market uncertainty, the rising cost of living remains one of the largest challenges facing Albertans. This spring, Alberta’s government took action to ease that burden. Budget 2025 delivered the promised income tax cut, saving families up to $1,500 per year. The Automobile Insurance Act was passed to enable better, faster, cheaper auto insurance for Albertans, and we passed legislation to expand energy options by enabling hydrogen blending and making critical reforms to ensure Albertans have access to affordable, reliable utilities when they need them most.

“Every piece of legislation our government brought forward this session was driven by one goal: to make life better for Albertans. I’m proud to be part of a team that meets the challenges Albertans are facing today and positions our province for long-term success.”

Joseph Schow, Government House Leader and Minister of Tourism and Sport

Alberta’s government also passed legislation to deliver on its mandate to restore health and safety for families and communities. The Compassionate Intervention Act introduced a new approach to addressing the addiction crisisadding another tool to the Alberta Recovery Model and giving Albertans struggling with severe addiction the opportunity to rebuild their lives and reconnect with their family, community and culture. Legislation was also passed that implements lessons learned during previous emergency responses and empowers municipalities through expanded options for local policing.

This session Alberta’s government passed 19 bills, fulfilled multiple platform commitments and delivered on the strong mandate received from Albertans two years ago.

    Other highlights

    • The Agricultural Operation Practices Amendment Act provides clarity for the emerging biogas industry, spurring job-creating investment in rural Alberta.
    • The Critical Infrastructure Defence Amendment Act protects essential infrastructure and supports the government’s work under the Alberta Sovereignty Within a United Canada Act.
    • The Education Amendment Act reflects changes in the education landscape, strengthening democratic accountability in school boards, and increasing clarity and efficiency in the teacher discipline process.
    • The Election Statutes Amendment Act protects democracy, delivers fair and open elections and restores confidence in every vote cast.
    • The Health Statutes Amendment Act continues the work to refocus the healthcare system, ensuring patients receive the care they need, when and where they need it.
    • The Municipal Affairs Statutes Amendment Act strengthens local governance and collaboration, streamlines processes and bolsters protections for new home builders and buyers.
    • The Professional Governance Act ensures Alberta has a modern, uniform governance framework for professional regulatory organizations.
    • The Wildlife Amendment Act aligns the Wildlife Act with current knowledge and best practices, supporting enhanced opportunities for hunting and trapping, reducing human-wildlife conflicts and streamlining enforcement approaches.

  • MIL-Evening Report: Viral ‘Hongdae boy’ videos expose the fringe group of South Korean men trying to sleep with foreign women

Source: The Conversation (Au and NZ) – By Joanna Elfving-Hwang, Associate Professor (Korean Society and Culture), Dean International (Korea), Curtin University

    Shutterstock

If you’re on TikTok, you may have come across “Hongdae boys” or “Hongdae guys” recently. In a social media context, the term refers to a group of young South Korean men who prey on foreign women (particularly white women) visiting the Hongdae area in Seoul’s Mapo district.

Largely made viral by popular South Korean TikToker Sean Solo (@itsseansolo) creating parodies of these men, Hongdae boys are depicted as men who make brazen (and slightly awkward) attempts at picking up unsuspecting tourists or foreign students.

Some of these women, who are often viewed as sexually “available”, have sometimes been inspired by K-dramas or K-pop idols to visit Korea in search of the perfect South Korean boyfriend.

So what’s behind the rise of Hongdae boy videos? And is Seoul turning into a place to avoid if you’re a young female traveller? Well, no. But Sean Solo’s parodies of this recognisable type of South Korean man shouldn’t be dismissed as purely comedy.

    A trend warranting further attention

Much of the funny viral Hongdae boy content is aimed squarely at foreign audiences. In fact, your average South Korean is more likely to associate the phrase “Hongdae man” (Hongdae namja) with the “Hongdae look” that showcases carefully curated streetwear inspired by hip-hop, rap and vintage elements.

Hongdae, a famous nightlife spot, is very popular with foreign visitors and South Korean students. In the 1990s it became the cradle of the underground and indie music scene, and remains a buzzing centre for arts and culture.

Come nighttime, however, it has a reputation for becoming hookup central. There are even “hunting bars” (hunting pocha) where single men and women can go to try and find a match.

While Hongdae guys are by no means representative of all Korean men (a point Sean Solo emphasises) the fact these men exist, and have become a recognisable part of Hongdae’s nightlife, speaks to serious broader issues of misogyny and gendered thinking.

Ongoing issues for South Korean women

South Korea has a reputation for being socially conservative, and K-dramas have emphasised this squeaky clean image. But in recent years, a growing number of South Korean women have spoken out about issues of sexual harassment and violence, including a crisis of digital sex crimes.

    Read more:
AI is fuelling a deepfake porn crisis in South Korea. What’s behind it – and how can it be fixed?

This has led to public demonstrations expanding on the global #MeToo movement.

We’ve also seen the rise of the so-called 4B movement (also called the “Four Nos”). Described as more of an individual lifestyle choice rather than an organised movement, the aim of 4B is to push back against societal standards imposed on South Korean women regarding marriage, childbirth and relationships.

As Asian studies expert Min Joo Lee notes, foreign women who are married to Korean men and living in Korea are often exoticised as dutiful housewives aspiring for “tradition”, while South Korean women are seen as troublesome and demanding.

Gender equality issues have also been used as a political football by some politicians. For instance, recently impeached President Suk Yeol Yoon’s 2022 presidential campaign relied on a narrative of male disempowerment to mobilise the vote of young, disaffected men.

Another setback came in late 2023, when the Supreme Court delivered a final verdict in a case deemed significant for the country’s #MeToo movement. It involved Seo Ji-hyun, a former prosecutor who, in 2018, filed a lawsuit seeking damages against a former male senior prosecutor who she accused of sexual harassment and abuse of power. The court dismissed her claims.

    Foreign fantasies and reality

For foreign women unaware of South Korea’s gender inequality issues, and who expect the sugar-coated image of Korean men they’ve seen in K-pop or K-dramas, the reality of the hookup culture may come as a shock.

The disjuncture between reality and the foreign fantasy of South Korea has increasingly been of interest to social commentators and researchers like myself. My own research on the topic has identified a kind of “global Koreanness” that has taken on a life of its own in the imaginations of non-Korean fans overseas.

The Hongdae boy narrative is similar to the 4B movement in that it is fuelled by attention from outside South Korea. While the 4B movement was widely reported in Western media, it was driven by a relatively small group of courageous women who didn’t actually get mainstream attention in South Korea.

Nonetheless, having a spotlight on these women still amplified their struggle to fight back against gendered ideas of what’s expected of them. These are ideologies that might treat them as objects to be looked at and “consumed” (such as with K-pop idols), or expect them to prioritise marriage and childbearing, over their own careers, to address a declining population.

Hongdae boy videos, both comedic and otherwise, may have a similar effect. They’re drawing attention to the gendered expectations many South Korean women face, and the ways in which they are dismissed in their pursuit for equality.

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

Reduces Net Loss for Quarter by 66% Year-Over-Year, Reflecting Improved Operating Efficiency

Strong Combine Participation and Scalable Digital Platform Expected to Drive Higher Margin Growth

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, May 15, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Signing Day Sports, Inc. (“Signing Day Sports” or the “Company”) (NYSE American: SGN), the developer of the Signing Day Sports app and platform to aid high school athletes in the recruitment process, today announced selected financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2025, and provided a business update.

Daniel Nelson, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Signing Day Sports, stated, “One of our primary objectives this quarter was to streamline costs and strike the right balance between growth and efficiency—resulting in a 66% year-over-year reduction in net loss. At the same time, we have seen strong athlete engagement through our national combine series and weekly recruiting webinars, which continues to expand our brand visibility. With enhancements to the digital platform and the signing of a new Sponsorship Agreement with the U.S. Army Bowl during the quarter, we believe we are well-positioned to drive growth in higher-margin, subscription-based revenues. We are also advancing strategic initiatives that we believe could significantly enhance long-term shareholder value. Overall, we have laid a strong foundation for scalable growth and meaningful returns, while continuing to enable new college recruiting opportunities for student-athletes and coaches nationwide.”

During the first quarter of 2025, Signing Day Sports advanced its growth strategy by hosting five U.S. Army Bowl Regional Combines in key cities—Atlanta, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; Chicago, Illinois; Phoenix, Arizona; and Jackson, Mississippi—which attracted nearly 1,000 high school athletes. These events reinforce the strong demand for verified performance data and enhanced recruiting visibility.

To extend this momentum, the Company expanded its digital footprint with weekly recruiting webinars that spotlight top student-athletes and promote direct engagement with college coaches. Signing Day Sports also renewed its role as the National Recruiting Partner to the U.S. Army Bowl through 2026, maintaining exclusive rights to national and regional combines and generating revenue from athlete registrations. Verified data collected from these events is automatically integrated into athlete profiles on the Company’s app, enhancing usability and value for both users and coaches.

Financial highlights for the quarter ended March 31, 2025

    • Revenue totaled approximately $0.15 million for the three months ended March 31, 2025, compared to approximately $0.23 million for the comparable 2024 period.
    • General and administrative expenses were approximately $0.97 million for the three months ended March 31, 2025, compared to approximately $2.04 million for the 2024 period.
    • Net loss was approximately $0.84 million for the three months ended March 31, 2025, compared to a net loss of approximately $2.50 million in the same period in 2024.

The selected results included in this press release should be reviewed together with the Company’s complete financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2025. The complete financial results are available in the Company’s Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on May 15, 2025 and available at www.sec.gov.

Far-left groups have carried out a series of attacks on transport and energy infrastructure throughout Europe. Since 2024[1], these acts have become so frequent that I will not include armed attacks by anti-fascist activists on a mayor[2] or right-wing activists[3], even though they too are alarming.

During the 2024 Olympic Games, acts of sabotage targeted TGV rail lines[4] and fibre optic networks[5] throughout France. At the same time, an arson attack was carried out on a relay antenna in Haute-Garonne, depriving 5 000 residents of internet access. During works to construct the A69 motorway[6], 200 fires were reported affecting construction facilities and equipment[7].

In February 2024, the far left claimed responsibility for sabotaging the Toulouse-Narbonne rail line[8], as well as for setting fire to an underground boring machine in Toulouse[9] in May.

In December 2024[10], a telecommunications antenna near Mâcon was set on fire, depriving 800 000 people of internet access[11]. The Antifa movement is operating with complete impunity. None of the perpetrators of the acts I have listed have been identified.

What measures does the Commission intend to put in place to help put an end to these terrorist attacks against our infrastructure committed by the far left?

  • MIL-OSI USA: Neag School Receives $42K During UConn Gives 2025

    Source: US State of Connecticut

Thanks to about 550 individuals, the Neag School of Education garnered over $27,000 in contributions during UConn Gives 2025, along with $15,000 in challenges and matching gifts. The annual University-wide fundraising event raised about $5.4 million overall for UConn, with incoming donations to support everything from scholarships and academic programs to student groups and athletics. The Neag School promoted its different education-affiliated funds during this year’s event, held on April 21 and 22. Out of the 42 Neag School funds, the top three finishers were:

    • UConn Husky Nutrition & Sport – $16,425 from 394 donors, including a $1,000 matching gift from Heather McDonald ’23 Ed.D., plus $10,000 from the President’s and Provost’s Project Leaderboard Challenge
    • Dr. Sue Saunders Higher Education & Student Affairs (HESA) Professional Development Fund – $2,550 from 84 donors, including a $500 matching gift from Saunders
    • Neag School Dean’s Fund – $1,242 from 12 donors, plus $5,000 from the President’s and Provost’s Unit Leaderboard Challenge

Housed in the Neag School of Education, UConn HNS is a U.S. Department of Agriculture, AmeriCorps, small local foundation, and private donation-funded effort to engage youth, adult caregivers of children, and adults eligible to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed) in nutrition and physical education. The group collaborates with partners and educational programs across Connecticut, including a longtime partnership with the City of Hartford. Students and faculty across UConn engage with UConn HNS through academic courses; paid positions; professional and holistic development sessions; and research.

“UConn HNS is appreciative of the efforts of its staff to spread the word and engage current students and our alumni network in UConn Gives,” says Jennifer McGarry, UConn HNS executive director and Neag School professor.  “In the current climate where many funding sources are in jeopardy, the impact of the donations and the leaderboard challenge funds is significant in our continued ability to engage with communities across the state of Connecticut.”

This year, the Dr. Sue Saunders HESA Professional Development Fund also won a $500 matching gift challenge funded by Saunders.

The fund was established to honor the commitment and dedication of Saunders, longtime director of the Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) program, and to support the development of graduate students in the program. The fund supports students who participate in professional development activities, including conferences, courses, webinars, association memberships, access to publications, research activities, and more.

“The Dr. Sue Saunders HESA Professional Development Fund is vital in supporting the learning, growth, and development of HESA master’s students,” says Adam McCready, assistant professor-in-residence in the program. “Dr. Saunders’ matching gift and the gifts from alumni and other community members ensure that HESA students can continue to have access to these transformative professional development opportunities.”

The third project, the Neag School Dean’s Fund, benefits faculty and students by advancing teaching, research, and policy development. This fund provides the dean with flexibility in supporting cutting-edge research and the School’s best and brightest students.

“As a crowdfunding campaign, UConn Gives is only as powerful as the people behind it and, as this year’s results show, we have incredibly passionate advocates behind the Neag School,” Dean Jason G. Irizarry says. “Thank you to every alum, faculty member, staff member, or friend of the School who supported us during UConn Gives. Your kind generosity directly impacts our students, faculty, and community partners.”

UConn Gives 2025 may be over, but you can still offer your support. Visit education.uconn.edu/giving-to-neag to learn more.

AUSTIN, Texas, May 15, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — BigCommerce (Nasdaq: BIGC), an open SaaS, composable ecommerce platform for fast-growing and established B2C and B2B brands and retailers, today announced that Moore & Giles, a leading global leather supplier through Moore & Giles Leather and a purveyor of refined leather bags, accessories, home goods and furniture via Moore & Giles, has launched new websites on the BigCommerce platform. The innovative new online storefronts elevate Moore & Giles’ digital presence with a scalable, high-performance platform that reflects the brand’s dedication to quality, craftsmanship and customer experience.

Built on BigCommerce’s flexible Stencil framework and in partnership with Zaelab, a leading digital commerce consultancy, the new DTC and B2B storefronts deliver the freedom and control Moore & Giles needed to execute bold marketing and merchandising strategies. The result is a refined, high-performance experience that enhances the company’s ability to manage and scale its digital presence, while staying true to its values of craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation.

“BigCommerce and Zaelab helped us build a modern, flexible foundation that not only works better for our team, but also elevates the shopping experience for our customers—whether they’re ordering leather samples or shopping for a weekend bag,” said Janine Coleman, ecommerce manager at Moore & Giles. “With a scalable, easy-to-manage solution, our team can execute marketing and merchandising strategies more effectively than ever before.”

“Moore & Giles turned to Zaelab to bring their legacy of craftsmanship to life through a digital experience that’s as refined, adaptable, and forward-thinking as their brand,” said Joey Hoer, business systems analyst at Zaelab. “The Moore & Giles theme is a testament to what’s possible on BigCommerce and proof that BigCommerce can power visually rich, brand-authentic experiences without compromising flexibility or maintainability. By replatforming to BigCommerce and delivering a fully customizable theme, we’ve transformed how they manage content and design. The result is a powerful yet intuitive theme that supports two distinct storefronts, each tailored to unique audiences, all within a unified, flexible design system that’s easy to update and cost-effective to maintain.”

The new implementation supports both Moore & Giles’ consumer-facing DTC and B2B websites with a unified theme. Both the DTC and B2B sites feature ERP and PIM integrations, implemented by Shout it Louder, to ensure real-time syncing of product, pricing and inventory data and accuracy across the sites, reducing manual effort and improving operational efficiency. The B2B infrastructure is designed to deliver a tailored, immersive experience for wholesale buyers while preserving brand consistency across both digital storefronts.

The robust ecommerce foundation for Moore & Giles’ DTC site accommodates three distinct product categories – Finished Goods, Furniture and Wholesale Leather – each with a shopping experience customized to its audience. To enhance product discovery and customer engagement, the new theme includes:

    • 360° Product Viewer powered by Cylindo for real-time leather and color configuration
    • Dynamic Product Badging for attributes like “Pre-Order” and “Limited Edition”
    • Interactive Product Cards with rollover images and variant swatches
    • Enhanced Filtering for Furniture (e.g., “Made to Order” vs. “Ready to Ship”)
    • Seamless Monogramming with automatic price calculations
    • Filterable Variants and default variant logic by category

Moore & Giles’ B2B storefront streamlines sample ordering for trade professionals, functioning as both a self-service resource and a tool for sales reps to offer tailored support. The experience is designed to enhance efficiency and maintain consistency across all interactions. Key features include:

    • Find a Rep Tool: API-powered functionality that connects buyers with their dedicated sales representative for personalized support and streamlined communication.
    • Gated Content by Customer Group: Logged-in users are shown custom product assortments, pricing, and promotions based on their account profile, ensuring a curated and relevant experience.
    • Variant Listing Pages: A grid-style layout that mimics category pages, allowing buyers to easily browse, compare, and bulk-add multiple SKUs—ideal for ordering leather samples in volume.
    • Product Comparison Tool: Enables side-by-side evaluation of wholesale leather options, helping B2B buyers make informed purchasing decisions.

Behind the scenes, the Moore & Giles marketing team benefits from a highly agile content management setup. With over 30 custom widgets, drag-and-drop functionality through Page Builder and JSON-powered modules, the team can launch campaigns, adjust layouts and update content without developer involvement, dramatically reducing time to market.

Since launching the new site, Moore & Giles has already seen measurable improvements in design flexibility, site speed and overall performance. By leveraging native BigCommerce functionality such as metafields and the GraphQL API, the company has established a future-ready ecommerce presence built for continued growth.

“Moore & Giles exemplifies the kind of forward-thinking brand we love to support,” said Al Williams, general manager of B2C at BigCommerce. “By embracing the flexibility and scalability of our platform for both DTC and B2B, they’ve been able to deliver a beautifully branded shopping experience for customers and wholesalers while improving operational efficiency and enabling their team to act faster to support all of their customers. It’s a great example of what’s possible with BigCommerce.”

Moore & Giles was recently honored as the recipient of BigCommerce’s 2025 Shopper Experience Award in the Americas region, acknowledging exceptional customer and user experiences that set new standards.

  • MIL-OSI Europe: Ireland’s Competitiveness Confirmed – Minister Peter Burke

Source: Government of Ireland – Department of Jobs Enterprise and Innovation

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke, has welcomed the publication of Re-estimating Ireland’s International Competitiveness Performance, the latest bulletin by the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCPC).

    Minister Burke said:

“This analysis marks a very welcome contribution by the Council and confirms that the Irish economy is internationally competitive. However, we cannot become complacent, and there remains work to do in many areas. The Council’s findings will make a valuable contribution in the preparation of the Action Plan on Competitiveness and Productivity.”

“Despite our strong international performance, we are also aware that there are challenges, and it is important that we do not take our current strengths for granted. This is reflected in the decision taken by Cabinet to expedite delivery of the Action Plan, which will play a key role in addressing these challenges and safeguarding our competitiveness performance into the future.”

This Bulletin explores how Ireland’s performance in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking 2024 is affected when selected indicators are rescaled using Modified Gross National Income (GNI*) in place of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The findings show that Ireland’s competitiveness performance remains strong with this adjustment. In fact, it rises by one position in the ranking, with improvements in three of the four pillars. The analysis explores how Ireland’s competitiveness profile changes when key metrics are recalibrated to better reflect the scale of the domestic economy.

The IMD World Competitiveness Ranking is a widely used international benchmark, assessing over 60 economies across four key pillars and 20 sub-pillars, and based on 250 individual measures. In the 2024 IMD results, Ireland was ranked 4th overall. The analysis included in this Bulletin involves replicating the IMD methodology from the ground up, in order to facilitate the substitution of GNI* for GDP for Ireland.

Key findings from the Bulletin include:

    • Ireland’s competitiveness ranking improves by one place when GDP-based indicators are adjusted using GNI*, with notable gains in Economic Performance (up seven places) and Infrastructure (up two places). Business Efficiency is unchanged, while Government Efficiency declines slightly, reflecting a more constrained fiscal profile when public finance metrics are expressed over a smaller income base.
    • The analysis underscores the importance of context-sensitive benchmarking, especially when using international indices to inform national policy. This Bulletin highlights the need to interpret international indices critically, understanding their underlying assumptions, and where necessary, supplementing them with alternative analyses that better capture national circumstances.

    NOTES TO EDITORS

The National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCPC) was established in 1997 (then the National Competitiveness Council) to report to the Taoiseach, through the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, on key competitiveness issues facing the Irish economy.   In 2019, the NCPC was designated as Ireland’s National Productivity Board.

As part of its work, the NCPC makes recommendations on policy actions required to enhance Ireland’s competitive position. The NCPC publishes three main research outputs:

    • The Competitiveness Scorecard benchmarks Ireland against international competitors on areas of competitiveness and productivity. This is published every three years (and was last published in 2024).
    • The Competitiveness Challenge is an annual publication in which the NCPC makes recommendations for Government on key challenges to Ireland’s international competitiveness.
    • NCPC Bulletins are short and focused research notes, examining specific topics within the sphere of competitiveness and productivity. The NCPC releases multiple Bulletins each year. These short pieces often feed into the NCPC’s main Challenges report.

  • World Test Championship winners to get $3.6 million as ICC bumps up prize money

    Source: Government of India

    Source: Government of India (4)

The winners of next month’s World Test Championship (WTC) final between Australia and South Africa will take home $3.6 million following a significant increase in the prize money by the governing International Cricket Council on Thursday.

Holders Australia pocketed $1.6 million for winning the 2023 WTC final against India, who claimed $800,000 as runners-up.

The losers of the June 11-15 test at Lord’s will get $2.1 million – more than the winners’ purse in the last two WTC finals.

“The increase in prize money exhibits the ICC’s efforts to prioritise test cricket as it looks to build on the momentum of the first three cycles of the nine-team competition,” the ICC said in a statement.

Australia captain Pat Cummins said they were ready to overcome any challenge to retain their WTC title.

“We are enormously proud to have the opportunity to defend the World Test Championship, especially at Lord’s,” the paceman said.

“It’s a testament to all those involved across the past two years who have worked incredibly hard to reach the final, which is a great honour for all of us.”

Counterpart Temba Bavuma said South Africa were determined to win their maiden ICC title.

“Everyone understands the importance of test cricket and the World Test Championship lends context to this vital format of the game.

“Lord’s is a fitting venue for this mega fixture and all of us will be out there trying to give our best against Australia,” Bavuma said.

  • MIL-OSI Europe: President Meloni’s statement on America’s Cup in Naples

    Source: Government of Italy (English)

I am proud to announce that, for the first time in history, the America’s Cup will be held in Italy.

In 2027, Naples will be the host city for the 38th edition of the world’s most famous and prestigious sailing competition, a global event involving millions of enthusiasts and representing a unique blend of tradition, technological innovation, engineering excellence and competitive spirit.

I wish to thank Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, Mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi, Sport e Salute S.p.A., and all those who have worked, with passion and determination, to achieve this great result.

The choice of the Parthenopean capital will contribute to strengthening the renewed leading role of the South of Italy, which in recent years has been able to rediscover its dynamism and pride, recording GDP growth and employment levels above the national average.

The America’s Cup being organised in Naples will also allow for an acceleration of the substantial redevelopment and regeneration plan launched by the Government to transform the city’s Bagnoli area into a modern tourism, seaside and commercial hub.

The choice of Italy fills us with pride, as it is recognition of our Nation’s very identity. Indeed, without the sea, we would not be what we are. The sea is history, identity and culture, but is also an irreplaceable part of our production and economic system, thanks to our position of leadership in the boating, shipbuilding, shipowning and cruise industries as well as in many other areas linked to the blue economy.

We look forward to welcoming the America’s Cup. Italy will be up to this challenge, and will once again show the world what it is capable of.

  • MIL-OSI: Risk Control Has Never Been So Precise: YBUOJ Builds Next-Generation Trading Security Ecosystem with AI at Its Core

    Source: GlobeNewswire (MIL-OSI)

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo., May 15, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Recently, YBUOJ announced the launch of its new AI risk assessment system. This system can evaluate the risk levels of platform user behavior in real-time and is one of the industry leading technologies with automated, dynamic, and intelligent identification capabilities.

“We do not just aim to solve problems; we want to predict and prevent them,” stated YBUOJ CEO Berton Hosea during an internal strategic communication meeting. “The launch of this AI risk assessment system is a key milestone in the long-term commitment of YBUOJ to security mechanisms and building an intelligent trading ecosystem. It provides users with greater peace of mind and enhances the platform foresight in handling complex financial risks.”

The newly released AI risk assessment system of YBUOJ is not merely an adjunct to traditional KYC and AML processes but a complete, independently operating technological engine. The system integrates and analyzes historical user behavior data to generate multidimensional risk scoring models.

In traditional financial risk control systems, platforms often rely on reacting to abnormal user behavior, which is a “post-event defense” form of passive protection. The YBUOJ AI system breaks this limitation by establishing a full lifecycle risk control system, achieving a complete loop of “pre-event identification, in-event response, and post-event review”.

“All financial platforms will inevitably move towards smarter risk management in the future,” stated YBUOJ CEO Berton Hosea. “We believe it is better to proactively identify risk sources with an AI system and interrupt potential threats early, ensuring true safety for user assets.”

Berton Hosea emphasized that this system is a crucial starting point for the platform journey toward “intelligent compliance” and “smart security”, and it will become a strategic pillar for advancing the platform to higher global standards.

As market participants continue to increase, the trading security of crypto platforms will become a core competitive factor. The strategic positioning of YBUOJ in this area is clearly ahead, and its “AI + security” strategy is gradually revealing long-term value.

Chopra, who made history by becoming India’s first Olympic gold medallist in track and field at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, cemented his legacy with a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Games. With two Olympic medals, he is now India’s most successful individual Olympian.

He was earlier enrolled as a Junior Commissioned Officer in the rank of Naib Subedar in the Indian Army on 26 August 2016. He was promoted to Subedar in 2021 following his heroics in Tokyo.

Chopra has joined a distinguished list of Indian Olympians who have been honoured with military titles. Abhinav Bindra, the nation’s first individual gold medallist from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, was conferred the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, while shooter Vijay Kumar was made an honorary Captain following his silver medal win in 2012.

Former India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2011, following his leadership in India’s T20 World Cup (2007) and ODI World Cup (2011) victories.
